But that didn't mean that Mace had gotten any closer to where he wanted to be. If anything, today left him feeling as if he was farther from what he originally came here for, than when he started. Everything though. His whole life's work. It brought him here again. The original birthplace of the werewolves - Hale. Which was an interesting fact to learn. Research showed that everyone thought the mythos of the vile creature started in Germany. Right around the time where Dracula came out. And Frankenstein. It was all about this writing challenge, see who could create the most scary creature, or story, or whatever. He didn't care too much about that lore. But there had been sightings right after in Germany. So that's where Mace figured to look first for the amulet that him and his brother were after. Of course, after getting there - it wasn't hard to figure out, that Germany in fact wasn't the original birthplace of werewolves, or lycans. In fact - Hale was. That information would be stored in his head, but didn't matter at the time because the artifact they were looking for moved all around the globe for what seemed like centuries. Mace almost figured that it was a miracle in the first place that it was even in good shape, and would remain that way once they found it. Time was the only thing that would help them know for sure though. And diligence to finding the suckers.
It sucked though. This was the sixth pawn person in the area that they had gone to. Second this day, and there was no trace of the stones. If that hadn't been the story of his life - it might not seem so depressing. This particular store owner couldn't even give him anything on the item. Said he had never seen anything like it in his life. "Well, thanks anyways Paul. Hey - you have my number in case anything shows up, right?" he asked - already on a first name basis with the guy. "Yes, yes. Good luck in your search. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help. Will keep an eye out for you. A family heirloom like that must be worth a fortune." waving his hand to the shop owner, Mace took the direction and left the small building, sighing as he came out to the evening air. His eyes immediately went down to his feet, before wandering towards the side where he could see his brother, Damian step out of the shop as well. His head shook in disappointment. "We're reaching the end of my wits where to look for it. Everything we have looked up, and researched, says that the last lady who bought it, moved here." he had to keep telling himself that being here wasn't pointless. That were was fruit to be had, and they could find the moonstones, and finally everything would be okay.
The problem that Mace was having - was that they couldn't just go up and ask the person, where the amulets were. It was already astonishing that the two had stayed together, but the woman who had purchased them and moved to Hale died about thirty years back. She had heirs within town, that might have been left the jewels, but they had to exhaust the other avenues before wandering on up to people, asking if they have a rare and very valuable moonstone amulet. Taking a step forward though, Mace left the front of the store. There really wasn't a direction he was heading in - though it did happen to be in the same area as where their crappy little motel suite was located in. He didn't honestly mind living in the rent-a-rooms though, since that's how it had been ever since the two of them embarked on this journey. "You've been awfully quiet-" which might not have been directly true, he said - talking to his younger brother. "What do you think? Find the next pawnshop? Or head on into step 2 and locate the dead woman's family?" at a casual stroll now, the town seemed small. He knew about the two packs that were pretty much in a war for power within it - even with it being declared a safe zone. Mace wouldn't trust joining one pack or another in a situation like this. It felt almost safer to stay as a loner and out of each of the pack's business.
Continuing to walk along, the two of them were getting closer and closer to their room, but Mace didn't feel like turning in for the night. Not yet at least. It was nice out this October afternoon. A great night to do things. . as a human. It was obviously well known to the two of them, how much each other despised their wolf form. The primal, savage beings that they could turn in to, with all of the destruction that could be caused. It was a curse - plain and simple. It was when he saw a cute little bench, looking out of the town, did Mace decide to stop and sit down. He figured his brother would do the same, but it was only an assumption. There were plenty of places where they could go to eat, but the loner wasn't sure he was exactly hungry. Instead, he just watched the small down as they busied on with their day. "Notice how this town. . it's the first one in a while that's had an air of . . tension around it -" he trailed off, noticing the bar across the street. "Maybe it's just me." he said, shaking his head before the phone in his pocket let out a couple of high pitched chirps. That was usually the sound it made when he received an email. Now, Mace didn't have any of those really high tech 5G, Galaxy S3 or whatever. But the two of them did manage to score a cheap pay as you go internet phones so they could at least look things up without needing to drag a laptop everywhere.
The problem with this though - was the fact that Mace was completely and utterly. . useless when it came to technology. He just sucked at it, and could never remember how to do anything when it came to the phone, computer, sometimes even these new-aged electrical cars. So as he took out his phone, Mace just sat there and looked at it for a moment, the little mail icon showing that he had 5 missed e-mails. Most of which were probably just spam that he clicked on stupidly and it sent him more spam. Soon enough though, the technological inept male was able to open his email, and saw he had a new message from Stephanie. This, always put a wide smile along his face. Booty call? Hell yes. He could easily open the message, read it's usual innards, and then knew how to respond back.
TO: Steph FROM: Mace SUBJECT: Re: Tonight
MESSAGE: 10::4 Will see you then
As the message was sent though, a low curse came rushing out of the male's mouth as he shook his phone, like that was going to make any difference to the machine. Tapping it on his hand a couple times, more buttons were clicked, and male looked completely lost. It was almost embarrassing, but he had to look over to his brother before pointing to the screen. "Dude. Does this mean it was sent? Because it's not in the sent folder like my emails always go." yep. Total confusion to the technology in front of him. You would have thought - someone growing up on the move would learn to adapt more quickly. That however, was not one of Mace's well known talents though. Adaptation. He'd manage eventually though, seeing as how he always had his younger brother near him to help him when anything went wrong. Because there was always the possibility that something would. There was just no denying that fact anymore.

Moving up the stairs, she watched Calla walk into Dakota's room and sighed. She may have been the Omega, but no one deserved that. XX-X XXX ██████████ ★☆★ ██████████ ★☆★ ██████████ ★☆★ ██████████ ★☆★ ██████████ Mai hopped into the passenger seat beside Nico. She remained mute as he revved up the engine and backed out of the parking lot. Her eyes strayed to the side mirror attached to the door. An weary, ratty looking girl stared back. Somewhat disgusted with the image, she turned away. She could hear the Beta click on the power button to the audio. A CD began to play. Mai made little of it since she didn't particularly care for the band. Nico tapped his fingers to the beat on the steering wheel and hummed to himself. She felt more comfortable looking up at him while his eyes were on the road. He seemed to feel the weight of her gaze as he turned to face her for a moment. As usual, the awkward fae couldn't hold eye contact.
"To the garage, correct?" He asked. Mai nodded slowly. She wasn't looking to the paycheck on her bike. Her thoughts traced back to earlier that day. If it was in good shape, perhaps she could seek out Artemis to go for a ride. The Sigma's cheeks grew warm at the thought of the breathtaking woman. There was something about her that caught Mai's attention. It could have been her auburn hair. Or maybe her emerald eyes. Her figure, her voice? Mai couldn't put her finger on it. Whatever it was, she was drawn to her in an almost magnetic fashion.
Nico eased off the accelerator. The change in speed caused Mai to snap out of her daydream. All at once she felt silly. It was stupid to even consider such things. Love was for fools anyways. "I will follow you back from here if it is done. If not I can give you a ride the rest of the way back to the mansion." He added as Mai stepped out of the BMW. She gave a last look at her chauffeur. He was wearing a smile that she couldn't help but doubt. Mai didn't put any more thought into it. After her brief hesitation she meandered to the door of the garage. They would be closing soon, so she had to make this quick.
"I'm here to pick up my Suzuki. " She said just loud enough for the man behind the counter to hear her. He wiped his brow before scrolling through records on his computer. His eyes fixed on the monitor, he grumbled,
"Your plugs are s**t girl, fuel line filter ain't great either." He ground a bit of chewing tobacco between his yellow teeth. "Either coulda caused your stall. We fixed em both for ya. It'll cost ya a hundred. That's for the replacements and the work involved." He finished gruffly. Mai bit her lip. That was a ridiculous price for the "work" it took to fix those. Not one to sit and argue, she could only sigh and reach for her wallet. "This is absolute bulls**t." She thought to herself. After paying the man she hurried out back to retrieve her bike. The hunter from earlier was still there. He watched her like a hawk. Mai exchanged a cold glare with him before riding out of the garage.
The ride home was uneventful. Nico followed her down the winding road to the mansion. For once, not a single rabbit darted into the road in front of her. Once they both arrived back at the mansion, Mai headed straight upstairs. She was far too exhausted to even bother greeting her packmates. The patrol would have to wait until tomorrow. Abandoning her duty and most everything else, she plopped into her bed and fell fast asleep. Insomnia would not keep her this night.

XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX Joël dropped his ax and wiped the sweat from his brow. He had been splitting lumber for firewood in the Bane woods for almost two hours now. The work was exhausting, not to mention tedious. One log after another, he stood them up upon a stump (three feet in diameter). With a deep breath and well aimed vertical swing, he'd strike his helpless victim in his breast. It had been mildly entertaining the first few times As with most things, the task grew duller with each repetition. A large pile of appropriately sized firewood sat beside the exhausted Delta. He still had to gather all of it and wheel it back to the mansion. No work was being accomplished by just sitting there. Joël popped out a joint from a pack of Marlboro Reds. He ignited it with ease and drew in the potent flavor. He gripped the joint in between his lips and got to work loading the timber onto a cherry red wheelbarrow.
The past few weeks had gone by faster than a speeding train. His shoulder had (for the most part) recovered. He had avoided hunting, but in it's place he had been working overtime at the garage. He didn't mind working on cars all day, but he had many better things to do with his time. He could be writing songs, drawing portraits of pack mates, or conversing with a certain woman. This woman was not the same one that had captured his attention a month back. The pack Guardian rarely crossed his mind anymore. To his surprise, he was beginning to find a greater liking for the pack Char. She was pretty yes, but her demeanor was what attracted Joël. She was tender and well spoken. Not to mention easy to talk to. The high of it all had it's low. He had no time for a girlfriend, if he could even get one. He hated the thought of not being able to spend time with her as it was. The whole situation caused him frustration. It seemed as though he was not meant to love, as though his speeding train was destined to crash.
The lumber loaded, he wheeled it forward. The barrow was wobbly and took a good shove to get rolling. He looked much like a little dragon, red faced and puffing smoke of his nostrils. Back at the mansion, he unloaded the firewood beside the shed. Half way through tossing a half-log of cedar into the pile, he noticed a familiar car parked in the lot. "She's back already?" He immediately scrambled to finish his chore.
All the wood stacked and the wheelbarrow stowed away, he finally could return to the warmth of the mansion. It was chilly and his jacket wasn't very good at retaining body heat. He sprinted up the walk way and entered through a side door.
Inside, it was strangely quiet. He kicked off his shoes and tiptoed to the living room. "I know she's here somewhere..." He thought to himself as he looked around. She had a distinct smell to her. She smelled like some of the herbs she often handled as well as a very mild perfume she used occasionally. Joël spotted her as he started to plop down on a lazyboy nearby. He smiled at the sight of her. She looked so peaceful, just sleeping there. Even inside, it was still fairly cold. Joël reached for a plaid blanket that was draped over the back of the lazyboy. He carried it in one arm over to where the lovely Char was fast sleep and gently laid it over her. "Sleep well, mon cher." He whispered before heading for the staircase. This was not the best move on his part. The stairs groaned as the weight of the Delta was forced upon them. He cringed and threw a glance over his back. He prayed she was a sound sleeper.

X-X-X ██████████ ✰☁✰ ██████████ ✰☁✰ ██████████ ✰☁✰ ██████████ ✰☁✰ ██████████ As he entered his new home, Oliver immediately began to look around, studying over all the décor and new the people who worked there. Everything about the place seemed so… Upbeat and happy. Even the workers and servants seemed to look so cheery, as they were all giving big smiles at them. As optimistic as he was trying to be, the fae prince couldn’t help but wonder if they were all real smiles. Were they actually that excited for them all? Or how many of those were fake? Not wanting to ponder on such thoughts any longer, Oliver’s brown eyes moved over to the other royal races. He recognized some of the faces that he saw, as they had been the ones that he had been fairly close with when they were kids and all together. The others, however, not so much. As he looked over the group, his eyes lingered on the vampire prince for a few seconds, the one who his sister was to wed, before they traveled over to the demon group and the princess, his soon to be wife. Yeah, he wasn’t looking to forward to all of this. Look on the bright sides, he thought as he looked away.
Oliver’s eyes focused on the woman who was standing in the front of the group. She was interesting looking figure, to say the least. She had large horns on the top of her head, decorated with all sorts of jewelry trinkets that he didn’t know about, and mismatched purple wings. Her hair was even constantly flowing, despite the fact that there was even a wind current. But hey, she was the Witch Mage. Who knew what kind of powers she had. As the warrior looking mage began to speak, Oliver listened with interest. She seemed to be going over the basics of everything. First a welcome, and then a reminder as to why they were all here. Oh, he doubted that anyone could forget why they were at Deshmion. When the woman, Kalthka, gave them options of what they could do next and quickly disappeared, Oliver glanced over at Isoflr, wondering what the sorcerer would be in the mood for.
Before he could even ask his friend that question, there was already some commotion going on. Glancing over, the fae prince’s eyes fell on the demon prince, his soon to be brother-in-law. He was bashing down on some servant who was only supposed to help them all out, the jerk. He gave a soft shake of his head as his eyes scanned around the group again, finally noticing his sister amongst them and he raised an eyebrow at her and her guard. He wondered what she was thinking about this whole thing. Looking back forward, Oliver noticed one of the servants coming towards him, luggage already in hand. The fae prince gave his thanks before he started to follow after the servant, though suddenly paused to look back a the Iso, the fae sorcerer. "Ready to go?"

For the most part. . today had been a wash. It was eventful, sure - and he got a lot done.

Athena knew that this male wasn't going to be easy to deal with. After all, his collar was made of chain and his file said something of him being a tad sarcastic. Being polite was the key to good business. Something her father had taught her, and even when the other party had offended you... You simply had to remain calm and try to remain as polite as possible. Asking the man to take his mask off, Athena took this chance to sit on the bed and see if the mattress was still in good order. It seemed soft but not overly so, and it wasn't so stiff that it didn't hurt your back. Good. One less thing she had to think about. Flicking crystal eyes up at him, Athena listened to his smart remark, which almost made her frown in displeasure. He was going to play this game was he? Fine. She wouldn't let her emotions show. Keeping her face neutral and bored, she let out a bored sigh, and looked down at her nails. "That is your own opinion but I believe you're too afraid to remove it. What a shame that a coward lies behind that mask of yours." Looking over him once more, Athena wondered how difficult it really would be to control this man. Surely he would behave himself after he realized that he would have most of his freedom back. He could even walk around outside as long as he didn't pass the barrier, but even if he did it would drag him back. Looking around the room, making sure everything was still intact, the mistress looked back at him. More excuses? Shaking her head and slowly standing up, she smoothed out her dress. "Excuses, excuses. We all have one when we are afraid to do something. No matter. Even if you hide behind your excuses, it does not change the fact that I still want you to come with me."
Athena was set on taking Sanos with her. She had thinking about this for weeks now, and when she read his file just a few minutes ago she was intrigued. Curious. Sanos would leave with her one way or another, and Athena would make sure of that. If he had tried to stay in the room, then fine, but he wasn't going to leave this place with another master or mistress. SHe would really make sure of that. Walking over to the door and grabbing his file. she looked through it with a bored expression, and then looked back up him. He seemed to think that she was like other women. How very wrong he was. Letting out a sigh and closing the portfolio, Athena looked back at him with hard eyes. "Yes a weaker woman. I believe you know what I mean from your past experiences. The women who fall all over you as soon as you remove that mask. It must be annoying and troubling after a while though." If she was in his place and had that problem, she would constant;y be annoyed and ready to kill. Athena enjoyed her privacy from time to time, and having someone in her personal "bubble" was a sure way to piss her off. "I, for one, am not like those type of women. Being a Demi-Goddess, I have the ability to ignore such things. It comes quite in handy too, especially when I do not want to be bothered by other people's pesky emotions." It had taken her a couple of years to learn how to "shut the door" on other's feeling, thoughts, and emotions, but she had finally mastered the talent when she reached the age of sixteen. "If you are worried about female servants being around, that is easily taken care of as well. I'll make sure that men only come in to clean your room, so you can live your life without that mask of yours." She WAS the mistress of this manor after all, whatever she said went. Things could easily be changed to accommodate this man.
His next question made her actually look at him and think. Leave a cage for another cage? Is that how he saw this room? Looking around the room once more, Athena saw no bars or cold, hard, steel floors. The room was spacious and comfortable with books and its own bathroom. Other slave shops did not give the slaves this kind of comfort! Him calling it a cage was an insult but she didn't let it show on her face. Athena kept her face calm as she shrugged her shoulders. "You should consider yourself lucky that it was my shop that you were sold to. Other shops aren't as comfortable as mine and the other owners could care or less if you lived or died. You call it a cage but I see no bars or cold floors. Everyone has their own opinion and they are entitled to such, however, you will not be entering another "cage"." It was rather annoying to hear that he thought such a thing. Terribly annoying. "You will have free reign of the house and lands. As long as you do not trash my house or try to fool around with my servants, then I believe you will quite happy. Besides, if there was something you wanted, you would get it. I planned on taking you shopping for a new wardrobe and whatever else you need to be comfortable." Knocking on the door to let the guard know to open it, Athena checked the time, and put the file back under her arm. "Are you coming? If you are so miserable being in the manor with me, then I will put you back in here, and find you some weak little woman you can control and manipulate. We need to take you shopping if we want to make it back in time for dinner, and then you can be alone for the rest of the night. You'll probably be alone in the house all day tomorrow as well, seeing as I am a busy woman." When the door was opened, Athena stepped into the doorway, and looked at him. "Don't be so afraid. I think you might actually be curious enough to come live with me." That was when she offered him an actual small smile. If only she could get him out of this room...
