Rolling to see who will go first

1 Aria, Cosmos
2 Roarke, Pluto
Ryndilee

Aqua Drageen

Feel free to rp as usual randomizing betweeen 1 and 3 for each post, or to pre roll the results and go back and fill the posts in after the fact.

Rolling reference for ease
* For every post in a battle thread make sure you randomize between 1 and 3. The number you get will determine what happened during that turn.
1 - Uh oh, looks like you missed this time!
2 - Yay a hit! Your opponent should subtract 1 hp in their next post.
3 - Excellent hit! Your opponent should subtract 2 hp in their next post.

* Keep track of your HP on the top of each post you make please! When someone reaches zero the battle is over. (You can post once or twice more if you'd really like the two to wish each other well or what not)
If the dice decide to be jerks and the battle just keeps going on and on and on I may step in and ask for you guys to roll dice for some outside event to help out. Hopefully it won't be necessary

HP: 3

Page Roarke of Pluto took to the mat, donned in the attire of the sport and wielding a slender foil. Save for the mask, the whole thing was familiar and odd at the same time: her page uniform was made of quilted armor, but it certainly didn't look like this! As odd as it was, she found she missed her otherwise cumbersome maru-obi like a cat would miss its tail.

The mask was a whole other issue.

She tested the foil and her feet against the mat conservatively, feeling for the give and strength of them both. It wasn't a sport Roarke was familiar with personally -- something she had seen in the pools on Pluto enough times to sign up. It was a lovely sport on Earth, at least at one point! (She was still getting the hang of those pools.) And further, it didn't look like it would end with being snapped in half. There were already bruises from the soccer match and that technically wasn't a contact sport. So interesting!

Roarke gave a small bow to her opponent. "On behalf of Pluto, I will give you my best!" she declared, her voice soft though animated. She politely allowed a moment before pulling down her mask and readying. When the buzzer sounded the start of the match, the page lunged as she had seen those in the pool do.

HP: 4 - 2 = 2

Aria the Cosmos page absolutely hated the armor and the mask of the fencing sport. It was far too hot and made her slick with sweat. Yet her mentor made her do it. Rules were rules, and all of this was made to protect the fencers from serious harm. But she didn't have to like it! Pout, pout, pout.

The girl, Roarke, bowed to her. "On behalf of Pluto, I will give you my best!"

Aria offered a tiny bow of her head. "On behalf of Cosmos, likewise to you." She readied herself along with her opponent. This girl would certainly get Cosmos's best, that's for sure!

Except, well, for the fact that Roarke had lunged first, landing a jab in her shoulder. Ow ow ow ow ow. Aria winced and quickly countered!

HP: 3 - 1 = 2

A solid hit! As far as Roarke was concerned, she could pack it up and go home victorious right then and there, but that would mean missing out on the rest of the match. In light of it being the Galactic Olympics, she told herself she could unceremoniously celebrate the move later. It was a fortunate decision, for her lively Cosmos opponent didn't miss a beat -- in a moment, the shoulder was gone from under Roarke's foil and a hit registered on her chest. The counter triggered a snap response, and Roarke's parry zeroed in on an exposed area. 50/50 for parts skill and fluke, as even the Pluto Page was surprised at the hit.

She may have been doing a bit more than watching the pools. Gone so far as to mimic them a bit and read up on some techniques. No one needed to tell the high-level Pluto Knights of this, however. At least, not until she was sure it wasn't against the rules.

HP: 2 - 2 = sadface

Ugh, UGH.

The match hadn't even lasted half a minute. Aria fell to one knee after the Pluto page's foil stuck her in a very sensitive place. She'd been careless, absolutely careless. And rather than pout about it she wanted to simply cry.

But that wouldn't be befitting of a Cosmos knight, now would it?

She managed, with some difficulty, to stand and to hold out her hand to shake. "Nice work, page of Pluto." The girl smiled.

Such was her surprise that Roarke nearly toppled with the Cosmos page; it was only her natural nimbleness that once again saved the day and kept her upright. There was finally a moment to really breathe when the match was declared in her favor. It was a blur! She lifted her mask off and wedged it under one arm to take up her opponent's handshake.

"Same to you, Page of Cosmos," Roarke replied demurely. "I think we gave everyone a wonderful show. Do say hello to the universe for me in your travels." Then, catching herself, she added "Um... should we meet again, you may call me Roarke."

Roarke. Such a lovely name. And where were Aria's manners?! She hadn't even taken her mask off yet or introduced herself.

The Cosmos page lifted her mask and wedged it under her own arm. There was a glance about the auditorium, to see if the audience was indeed impressed. No matter. In Aria's mind, they were all cheering. "I shall," she answered. And to make a dramatic exit, she flipped her hair and turned away, only to look over her shoulder. "We definitely shall meet again, Roarke. And when we do, you may call me Aria."
