Rolling to see who will go first 1 Alkanet, Pluto 2 Shalott, Earth Feel free to rp as usual randomizing betweeen 1 and 3 for each post, or to pre roll the results and go back and fill the posts in after the fact.Rolling reference for ease* For every post in a battle thread make sure you randomize between 1 and 3. The number you get will determine what happened during that turn. 1 - Uh oh, looks like you missed this time! 2 - Yay a hit! Your opponent should subtract 1 hp in their next post. 3 - Excellent hit! Your opponent should subtract 2 hp in their next post. * Keep track of your HP on the top of each post you make please! When someone reaches zero the battle is over. (You can post once or twice more if you'd really like the two to wish each other well or what not) If the dice decide to be jerks and the battle just keeps going on and on and on I may step in and ask for you guys to roll dice for some outside event to help out. Hopefully it won't be necessary

5 Shalott was not trained in fencing but she did know something of swordplay. It was kind of a big thing at her wonder, on her world. She picked up the fencing foil wondering who her opponent would be. She'd heard a name but never had the pleasure of meeting this knight.
The knight donned the necessary clothing and swished her foil about a few times to get a feel for it. Then she turned, spotted her opponent and bowed as a show of respect. She would, as always, enter this thing with honor and respect.

He'd never picked up a fencing sword, he wasn't even sure this sword counted as a sword. He'd heard it went by some other name but couldn't remember what that name was. As the pale blond took hold of the sword he turned to face his opponent. He'd heard it was some knight of Earth, a squire in rank, he didn't know their name though.
As he turned he spotted the person and bowed as well, showing his respect for both the opponent he had and for this sport. Shifting his right hand to get a good feel for the sword he finally brought it up and at the ready as he moved into position. He still wasn't quite sure why he'd joined this event, aside from having heard two people speaking about it and being curious over it.
As they were signaled to begin he moved in as he brought his sword down and aimed for his opponent. Taking a jab at his opponent with the blunt end of the sword.

She saw him coming from a mile away and sidestepped lightly, turning to look at him as she did. His foil passed by her entirely, his repast sloppy. She looked at it, startled, and moved to rebut, pinning him in the side with her fencing foil lightly, scoring first blood, so to speak.

Yes, first blood sort to speak. But he turned to her and struck out in return. She may have first blood but he wasn't going to let her be the only one to draw blood. He had a princess to and planet to honor. He had been surprised he'd moved right past her as she'd side stepped him with seeming ease.
He suspected, and wouldn't be all that surprised, if she had experience with fencing. He wondered if it showed that he had no such experience.

3 If his first try had made him seem clumsy his second corrected any misconception. She felt him score a hit in a vital area, striking two points for himself and his planet. She gave a smile behind her mask of appreciation. She calmly slipped past his open spot and struck him again, scoring a point of her own. Even if he wasn't familiar with fencing there was always beginner's luck and she knew that counted for something.

Beginners luck would be a good way of explaining how he'd scored two points. Again he found himself being hit, and scored on, by the female knight. He really shouldn't have left himself open to that, should have been watching himself, but he'd been too busy being happy with his own bout of luck.
Again he jabbed the foil forward at his fellow knight, aiming for any open spot.

3 And here he was back to being sloppy. She parried his next blow, shaking her head a little. He gave his moves away before he made them despite the costume masking his features. He was making such a valiant effort that she almost hated to drive her foil past his defenses to bend at his breast, scoring 2 points in a vital zone.

Well, he wasn't expecting to win, especially not if the person he was against had any amount of experience. It seemed, to him anyway, that she had some experience. So he wasn't exactly surprised when again it seemed he was destined to be struck by her swords blunt tip.
Taking a step back, to gather himself, he moved back in to strike at her again. Trying to get past her defenses as he aimed for her chest.

3 Oh dear. She saw his next lunge and brought her foil up to divert it to the side before bringing it around and striking her final blow, two points to his chest again the the proximity of his heart. She held the strike a moment before pulling her sword back and sliding off her mask, grinning at her fellow knight.
"You did well. You made your princess proud, I'm sure."

It seemed he didn't have all that much beginners luck, just enough to strike her once. At least though that single strike had counted for two points, as opposed to one point. But, there was another plus to this whole event. He had enjoyed it and would, upon arriving home, see if he couldn't take this up as something of a hobby as opposed to anything serious.
Sliding his own mask off, blond nearly white, bangs fell into his face. The rest of his hair was tied back into a mid back length ponytail.
"I do hope so. I believe I will be taking this up upon my return home." And he did mean it, he liked this. "Thank you for your kind words...you did well also." His voice was soft, shy even, as he spoke but his smile wasn't bright.
