It had been a few days since Coraline had left her room. She held up in it with no plans on leaving till her stomach growled so loud that the head of the Hall came in and put down a bowl of fruit and a loaf of bread. The last time she had left the sanctuary of the Mage's Guild hall, she had been transported to a labyrinth and forced to crawl her way out with Eliya after Meridia had exposed her necromancy secret to the older mage and dark sister. After she had gotten out of the place, after almost being killed several times, had her body broken to the point where that she couldn't move a limb due to the shattered bones, poisoned and almost cut in half multiple times, she finally escaped. Though not without the cost of three years of her life being drained away. Her body aged. And when she got back to her hall, she was covered in her own blood and older. Everyone had questions on what had happened. Though she evaded every question and ran to her dormantory, locking herself in.

After she had left she fled to the Arcane University. Once she arrived, she had told of her adventure to the only person she trusted due to recent events, The Arch Mage though kept a few key parts out of the story. She didn't reveal her necromancy practices to him, tell him that Eliya partook in this event or that Meridia was involved. Though but she did let him know that she was afflicted while in that place and aged rapidly. He let her know that she was glad that she entrusted him with that information he then asked her to remove herself from the Chorrol Hall and return to The Arcane University as a teacher. He had learned of her quick uprising in the guild's ranks and her ability to grasp two collage of spells proficiently enough to hopefully teach people. He called her an Arcane Prodigy. She was flattered, and accepted him offer.

Coraline sat at her desk in the front of the room. Her recent returning to The University in the Mage's Guild had come with new responsibilities. She for one, was now a teacher as well as a field agent. She also would be the leader and representative of the Mage's Guild if she were to be sent with a team out in the field. She had already done one task as an official representative, though Neven would never admit that she was the leader. He could be quite stubborn at times. Though she was around people most of her day, some quite older then her, she was timid when it actually came to socializing. She rarely lets anyone close or talks to people outside of her lectures. She has also grown to be hotheaded and at times would bit a students head off if the so much as annoyed her. Though, the Arch Mage saw it as her way of teaching and she was producing results.

As she scribbled on the parchment in front of her she dropped her quill to stare at her students. The crowd varied in size, race and age. They were quite diverse. And rarely did anyone of them actually conjure anything threatening. They were just small bunnies and squirrels or other small forest creatures. There is one student who does stand out though, someone she would actually say is on par with her own conjuration skills, Laicifitra. A Nord. Not the most expected magic wielder, though someone who actually showed progress and understandings of more then the basic fundamental foundations of the school of conjuration. But there was more then that. She felt some sort of magic pull to the girl. It wasn't an attraction or anything physical. But a kind lure that she felt she had a magical connection with. Something that she hadn't shared with anyone else but her own secluded kind.

It wasn't that every necromancer could sense one another, but at times, they could sense things that were off about the person. They notice the little things people would usually write off. And right now Coraline is having those senses about Laicifitra. She wanted to confront her and have her explain these premonitions. Though that could end fatal, on either of their parts. So she came up with the idea of asking her subtly. She rarely asked for students to stay after her class, but she saw no real alternative. ''Laicifitra, stay after the rest leave.'' she saw no reason for pleasantries. She was their teacher. Looking back down she waited for the class to leave, and went back to her drawing, pretending to work.

Laicifitra had an animated attitude about everything she encountered whether it be small or large. Even though she was quite naive about the reality of most things the members of the Mage's guild had found that she was an ethereal delight. She was quite troublesome when she first arrived to the University. She had no intention of going to any other location of the guild, she was set on proving herself to be skilled enough to enter the University without any prior training. She always happened to "run into" the Arch Mage and teachers. After a few weeks of this nonstop activity the Arch Mage and teachers were growing tiresome of her ordeals and let her take a test that would express her skills and knowledge of the arcane arts.

The night before the big test day, Laici stayed in the Bloated Float Inn. It was the best she could afford, before she had taken to sleeping on the streets with the beggars in the Waterfront but tonight she needed to be well rested for tomorrow. Before retiring Laici left for her room with a knife she had stolen from the inn. She took out a small bag attached to her belt that carried her alchemy ingredients and poured a small amount of white dust on the floor. She then took the knife and cut into the tip of her finger, enough to draw blood. She placed her finger above the dust and pushed the blood out from her finger that landed on the white dust. Once the amount was correct she took out a piece of chalk and drew a symbol around the blood and dust. Lacifitra spoke out the words that would call the Daedric prince's attention. She prayed for his blessing that her magical skills would prove her and her knowledge would be precise. The next day her ritual had proven successful as she impressed Arch Mage and teachers enough to let her into the University.

It has been a few months since her first arriving at the university and Laici had already been promoted to an Associate. And here she was now sitting in a conjuration class taught by the one and only Coraline Atraena. It was amazing that Coraline was only one year older than Laici and was already a teacher. She really looked up to Coraline and wanted to be like her one day. Not a teacher of course but have the mastery of her skills. Being a teacher would drive Laici into madness, her thirst for adventure was to great.

While Laici sat in her seat daydreaming of her future with the rest of the class working on their research projects everyone's attention was suddenly interrupted by the voice of their teacher, Ms. Atraena. Normally Coraline would busy herself with her own things; there was no doubt though that when Coraline did decide to involve herself there was a great deal to be learned from her. But this time she did not speak to give information, advice, or even a threat. The words echoed through Laici's head "Laicfitra, stay after the rest leave.". Laici eye's widened a bit as she nodded, everyone looked at her assuming that she was in some sort of trouble considering that Coraline never wanted everyone near her let alone talk to them directly.

The time for class to end came by, the students all gathered their things and left the room leaving Laici and Coraline to themselves. Laici awkwardly got out of her seat as she nervously walked toward Coraline, her booties making a soft sound with that echoed through the room with every step. She placed her hands behind her back and played with her fingers as she reached the front of Coraline's large desk. She bit her lip again as she spoke.
"You wanted to speak with me Ms. Atraena?" She did the best she could to sound polite, but she had failed to hide the nervous choke up in her throat. This was the first time she had even been with Coraline alone. She had no idea what was in store for her.

                                                              ///////////////////////////////////////////////////User Image

Coraline waited at her desk, looking up whenever her wrist decided to grow sore from doodling. She never really was one to do her paperwork. And she felt no special need to start it anytime soon, unless she was told to. There wasn't much a person could learn from doing paperwork. A lot of the knowledge she learned, was hands on. She tried to give some of the students that type of opportunity, though the last time she tried to summon just a Scamp, one of the students was ill prepared and ended up in needing medical attention, while another just dropped her as their instructor completely. None of them were able to properly rebuke it and even though it was under her control they were terrified of it. She tried with a Flame Atronach the time before that but one of the students was left with permanent scars from the fire. She was severely warned about her teaching methods. So she tried with the scamp. But it still went worse. So she was told to have them read and write instead of pitting them up against minor daedra. It was frustrating, and quite boring.

Coraline almost but gave up on her class and wondered how any of them even were able to get admitted into the academy. She joined at the age of ten and was even improving her skills. One of her students was twice her age and couldn't even muster the magic to conjure a fork. That was until Laici arrived. The only student she was actual proud of, and, well liked. Coraline still kept her distance as she saw her mutilated body, which looked absolutely normal to everyone else. She looked like an average nineteen year old Altmer. But she viewed herself as an abomination. In her eyes she was still sixteen. She was too afraid to visit her parents. So after her classes, she locked herself in her room with broken mirrors. She had plenty of books to keep herself occupied though and read during most of her free time. There wasn't much that she did anymore. Secluded to her room, she lost touch with most of the people she once viewed often.

Coraline passed Eliya once while walking to her room. Both of the ladies just looked at each other, Coraline stood frozen while Eliya shot her a disgusted look. Eliya hadn't spoken about that night to anyone. Or even talked to Coraline since then. When Meridia outed Coraline to Eliya the Daedric Prince banked on Eliya to kill her in an outrage, but when it came to it, Eliya didn't feel right or that's what Coraline likes to think. She could never really read that woman right.

Her mind was racing. And before she knew it, her eyes were closed focusing on the past events. Remembering how it felt having her body broken. Or how it felt when she had poison coursing through her veins, coagulating the blood and making her heart almost stop. Even when she was kicked so hard into a wall that she didn't wake up for several hours, she still remembers the pain like it just happened. Though her body has healed through the glories of magic. Someone spoke to her, breaking her trance of thinking of green apples and sweet rolls, the two foods that usually calmed her. Looking up from her desk she could see the red haired girl. It wasn't as dark as another mage she knows. It was more pale, lighter in color. Like it could dance around in the wind and hold compassion instead of disdain.

The girl sounded frightened to be standing by her. She hadn't heard of what the students said behind her back or the other teachers for that matter. But whatever this girl was afraid of, didn't matter to her. What Coraline was interested was this allure. ''Just, Coraline. Or Miss. l never liked being called by my last name. Sounds much to formal.'' Coraline scuffled some of her drawings to the side, placing them into a small chalice and ignited the papers with the tip of her finger. The parchments quickly went into flames that consumed them, curdling in the goblet, the paper ashed and quickly as the fire died off quickly. She cleared her throat, thinking it was her voice that sounded hoarse and pushed her chair back a bit, readjusting her seating. ''l actually wanted to ask you just a few questions.'' She checked to see if the door was closed. She usually had her room cut off from the rest of the academy. ''Don't take them the wrong way or let your mind wander into hidden meanings.'' She could notice how the girl seemed nervous. ''If you'd like, you could take a seat.''

She waited for the girl to either sit or stand, Coraline prefers to sit recently. She had done enough walking and standing to last her a few years. And her lower back still hurts if she has to walk too far. Which ever Laici decided to do, Coraline waited before speaking again. ''Laici, you are among the gifted in my class.'' She didn't want to come out and say that she favored her. ''But there seems to be something distracting you during my lectures. Like you don't pay too much attention when l try to talk about the daedra, as if your mind wound rather learn other things about conjuration.'' Coraline tried to seem as disconnected from necromancy as possible in her speech but she also wanted to let the girl know that she could sense the girl as being one herself. Last time she had practiced, she had experienced the most terrifying night in her life and lost time she will never get back. ''What l wanted to ask you though: what would you like to be taught?''

Laici smiled and nodded. "Of course er--Coraline." She said while visibly becoming more comfortable. She listened to what Coraline was saying, not exactly knowing what to expect with this upcoming questions. When offered to sit, Laici had chosen to stand, she had been sitting in class all day and felt a need to stretch out her legs. She took note of the caution that Coraline held in her eye as she made a final look towards the door. Whatever these questions were they must be very important. Laici listened quietly as Coraline spoke, she didn't realize that it was so evident that she wasn't paying particular attention to the material being taught. "What would you like to be taught?" She finally heard.

What would I like to be taught.... Laici said in her head as she looked down at the floor, while gazing at the old stone she wondered herself what she would like to be taught. Her eyes moved up and looked directly at Coraline, she could feel that there was something more to this. She may not be the best at judgement but she could tell when something was up. Or perhaps it was just because she felt something from Coraline, she couldn't put her finger on it exactly but ever since she first met her she could feel a pull, a drive you could say. Laici opened her mouth to speak but quickly closed it as she turned a a light red, what she wanted to say was something she couldn't even speak of without getting in big trouble.

Laici's blue eyes danced about at Coraline, looking at her dark makeup and silver hair. Her fingers played again behind her.
"Ever since I first came to the university I have felt that I could trust you...." Her voice wandered off and she let herself take a moment to figure what she could say next. Akatosh help me. "I would like to experiment more with--with the ah..." Her mouth stopped still open, she could feel something holding her back from saying the words. She swallowed dryly and looked around the room, her heart was beating rapidly. She breathed out hotly and squeezed her hand behind her back. "The undead."She barely whispered. Her eye's squeezed shut knowing that she would probably be lectured about how dangerous and forbidden necromancy is and that if she ever attempted such a feat she would be expelled form the guild.

Stunned that Laicifitra had just said that outloud, Coraline paused for a moment. She closed her eyes to blink and took in a deep breath before exhaling it through her nostrils. Gazing around the room she looked at the windows, the door again and then back to the windows, making sure that the room was cut off from the outside world. Looking back at Laici, Coraline leaned forward in her chair and rested her elbows on her deck, then intertwined her fingers and placed her chin on top. Coraline never saw herself as a trustworthy person, for one. Though if Laici had asked anyone else, she would be probably lectured about the dangers of that forbidden art as well as watched more closely. ''Officially, l'm supposed to reprimand you and report this conversation to the Arch Mage himself. Necromancy, for one, is banned within this guild and anyone who openly practices it is excommunicated from our order. People view it as an immoral art. l'm sorry but l'm not allowed to assist you in learning the act that is necromancy.'' Looking down at Laici's feet, she eyed the girls frame. She could hear her try to speak through dried lips and how much courage it had taken her to come out and ask for assistance.

''l'll let you on a secret that only two people know of, someone who l thought was my friend and myself. The Arch Mage is not to know this, and since you trusted me l shall entrust you too.'' she took a moment before speaking. It was going to be hard to put her tale to words that could easily summarize the events that transpired only a few weeks ago. And although it seemed like years and she wished it was, but really that it was just a dream. Yet the sad fact was that that night really did happen, not just in her mind but in the physical universe. She never found out where Meridia was or even how she was able to rip Coraline from Nirn. And she tried to. She'll hold a blood vendetta to that Daedric Prince for as long as she lives. ''You know that l'm nineteen, correct?'' the red head just nodded. ''A few weeks ago, you were older then me. By two years, l was sixteen. But l angered one of the Daedric Princes, Meridia. l practiced necromancy, and while doing so l defiled one of the corpses of one of her fallen priests. l lost three years of my life because of her.'' Her body started to ache. As if she were back in that maze. Her feet started to grow sore like she had been walking for too long. Pulling her hand through her short hair, she felt her heart race as her fingers went through her silver locks, panicking till she reached the end where it hadn't grow at an alarming rate.

Once she calmed down she put her arms across her chest and waiting for the girl to blink. Leaning back in her chair, she let the girl think for a moment. And she knew that if she went to anyone else, that she would have not been so lucky. ''Now, unofficially, if you were too look for help you're either intelligent or stupid for asking your conjuration teacher, though l will be able to assist you in this matter.'' She could notice a different change in how the girl stood and was beginning to carry herself. ''For obvious stated reasons, not here. Once you leave this room you never speak to me about this matter again openly.'' She wanted to protect herself and her position. For as much anxiety as she held for this job, she liked it. It was nice being able to be treated well kind of normal. Things will probably never go back to normal like they were but at least it was a start. ''If questioned why l asked you to remain, tell them l tested you on the importance of defensive and offensive conjuration spells and the difference between them.'' She had to think of something that seemed likely otherwise their whole story would have fallen through. And unless they had a matching one, people would question.

In recent times, Coraline has grown paranoid of people. Mostly if Eliya had found out if she was going to continue practicing the black listed art within conjuration. She would fear the retaliation that woman would cause upon herself. ''If you would need me in this matter though, leave your quill at your desk when you leave classes and meet me by the bay just behind the walls here, go to the one facing south-east. Now, later tonight, meet me in me in my room. The door will be unlocked.'' She pushed her chair back a bit and got up to leave the room. Opening the door, she let Laici out first before closing then locking the door behind her. She walked to her room and pulled out all the books she could find, both, hidden and within the piles and piles of books within her room, and get them ready for Laici. She also got out her hand written notes and prepared everything Laici might need.

Her blue eye's widened as she listened to the dark secret Coraline had been carrying around with her all this time. Laici felt pity for her mentor. She never would have guessed, she wondered what Coraline was like before Meridia interrupted her life. Laici couldn't help but wonder her thoughts back to Calivicus Vile. Though she was sure that he would never turn on her or weed her out to another Deadric Prince.

So Coraline was a necromancer. Everything suddenly became a bit more clear. That explained the pull, the mute acumen she had felt when it seemed that Coraline was talking about something more in her teachings, an allusion that only Laici could pick up on. When Coraline finished her story and gave the instructions to which she was assumed to follow Laici put a smile on her face and nodded. She really didn't know what to think about all this. She should be bursting out and hoping all over the walls but she wasn't. All she could do was stand frozen. She could only bring herself to move when Coraline herself got up and walked towards the door opening it for her. Laici quickly walked out and turned around abruptly.
"Se--Good day Coraline." She ran off with small steps towards her room and gathered her things, readying herself for the night to come.

When the night came, Laici waited for her fellow associates to take to their rooms either to sleep or study before leaving to Coraline's room. When the hall was empty she quietly moved out of the hall and and out onto the university grounds. She stuck with the shadows staying clear of the guards watching the gate as she snaked her way towards the teacher quarters. It was quiet. Laici tiptoed towards the room she had thought was Coralines. She barely touched the handle just before a shock ran through her body and froze her hand. She would have tried to get into a room that wasn't Coraline's if some unknown force had not saved her. She took in a sharp breath and turned back to the end of the hall. She could feel a force directing her to the door at the end corner.

Laici made her way towards the door. Once she reached it she grabbed the door handle. This time not feeling anykind of shock. The door was unlocked just as Coraline had said it would. Laici made one final look around to make sure no one was around before entering into the room. The redhead closed the door as quietly as possible. She turned to find a relaxing Altmer looking over some notes. Laici bit her bottom lip and pat down her white robes before taking a few steps towards Coraline.

[ effects ] none [ company ] Laici [ location ] Her Dormitory

Coraline's room was littered with books, notes and maps. Almost every inch of wall space had a bookshelf, filled with volumes that seemed unorganized and chaotic, though she had her own way of cataloguing her lexicons. On the right side of her dormitory was her bed, a double queen size that could comfortably fit two. The sheets were carefully placed back in as she tends to wake up and remake it every time she woke. Though saying it was every morning would be a lie. She would stay up till the peak hours of the morning staring at old ledgers hoping to find some kind of hint of how to summon the Daedric Prince Meridia and prisoning her within a cell so the two could speak without fear of unattended conflict. The clean sheets, a vibrant red silk matched with her white linen pillow covers. Sitting next to it was a night stand that had a small stack of books with a candle on top, one of the books laid open and upside down next to the stack. A small chest filled with small trinkets and mementos at the foot of her bed, locked and only opened by a password she had enchanted on it.

On the wall adjacent to her bed was her desk. It was dark wood and had a similar colored shelf above it. She used the red crystal shard she had retrieved on a quest as a light source, which hovered above a candlestick, illuminated her work space. Underneath the shelf was a diagram making out different parts of the human anatomy with a human skull resting on the desk just below. The significance to the skull was the first skeleton she had ever killed and now was made into decoration. Like she was taunting it even after it had died again. A quill next to a closed vial of in and a ledger of her hand written notes in the center, the book tightly closed and locked with a simple spell that would open on a command word. A small chest filled with small trinkets and mementos at the foot of her bed. Scrolls and parchments were placed in intricate parts on her desk, placed in a chaotic manner but to her they were placed where they needed to be. The chair pulled out and left to the side so she could walk over and sit without having to move it about before getting back to her own studies. A soul gem, still an empty vessel for capture, rested on her shelf next to a small golden trophy of an owl that her father had given her when she first got her promotion to Apprentice. Most of the shelves on the multilayered wall space had more books on them. If anything, Coraline has her own library of texts to choose from. And since she rarely leaves her room, comes in handy.

A small canopied alter rests underneath the window. A crystal ball sits in the center. The glass orb floating just above the metallic base. Blue and purple hued clouds trapped within the confines, dancing within it. The windowpanes were closed and locked and the thick curtains were drawn covering every inch of the glass and unless you knew a window was behind it, you were unable to tell that it was there. She had complete isolated her room from the outside world as best as she could. The only way you could tell what the time of day it was, was by getting up to view out through the window. The only time she had to leave her room was when she absolutely had to. A tall standing mirror stood next to her desk, the glass broken and chipped, dried blood still lingering on the cracks. Another mirror was shattered, smaller in comparison and hung on the wall near her armoire. She despised the way she looked and didn't want to be reminded on her appearance every time she would walk around the room. Her room, although cut off from everyone else, was abnormally cold even in the midst of spring. The air felt chill and the rugs on her floor would feel like places your feet belonged and the stone floor would almost be like lava. That is if you touched it your feet would fall off, not that if was actually warm.

In her wait for the nights events to begin, Coraline wrote in her journal. It held the thoughts she could tell no one else and as well as her notes on her practicing of necromancy. The quill in her hand started to write on the last blank page, small notes and person poem she though to herself. Placing her quill back to the side she kept the book open when she noticed some of her older notes. She skimmed over them, not really paying attention to the details. Though as unimportant as they seemed to herself, they might come in handy to Laici.

Coraline sat at her desk, reading from her own notes till she stumbled upon the ones she made the last time she had practiced necromancy. It started off detailing on how she extrapolated her art and went into detail of where she started to eviscerate the corpse of the priest of Meridia, unknowing of who the person was at the time. The words were finely written till they just stopped. Nothing else was written down. The page unfinished and blank. She sat there, furious and filled with rage. Her heart racing she just stared at the page. She could see small smudge marks that her fingers made when she was writing down the notes. Feeling like she wanted to completely burn and destroy them, she instead just waited in her madness, waiting for Laici to come and interrupt her obsession and hoped that they would be some how important to the girl. And when the door finally opened, her head didn't budge but her honed ancestral hearing heard the knob turn, knowing that it was Laici who disturbed her. No one else dared bothered her when she was in her room.

When she heard the door close, she instinctively stood up from her chair and turned to face the girl. She could see her Nordic frame stand walk towards her, the white robes she wore loosely dangled from her body. ''l hope you haven't had any troubles arriving at my dwelling.'' The room was light for once, usually she kept her room pitch black but the chandelier on the ceiling was lit. She only really used it for company, which she never had any more. Nowadays she would just slip on her Ring of Night-eye to see in the abyss. Turning her head back to her desk, she looked at her ledger. Seeing it opened she threw in the page she was staring at earlier inside and whispered the closing words and picked it up and presented it to Laici. ''All my notes and thoughts from the past three years are written in this ledger. When you want it open just say the words: Shyeenukvesh.'' and when she said the words out loud the clasp clicked. ''And to lock it: Vortanudiggeema.'' the lock again reacted to the password but this time the snapped shut. The sound of a locking mechanism chimed. ''This book cannot be opened any other way. Anyone who tried to tamper with it with a lockpick will be shocked and their pick will break and someone who tries to use a spell to open it will have it fail and feel as if the book is unimportant and put it down.'' She offered the book to Laici. Once the girl held it Coraline spoke again. ''Always remember to lock it. It's our secrets that keep us alive. Without them we're as good dead.'' She stared at the girl for a moment. ''Never reveal this ledger to anyone. Keep it hidden. Keep it safe.'' She motioned for Laici to sit down on one of the spare chairs her room came with. It was identical to the one Coraline sat one, minus the fact her chair has seen more wear and tear then the one Laici will be sitting on. A cousin Coraline had taken from an old couch that once resided in this room now rests where the old one is. Once Coraline took her seat she looked at the diagram above her desk and counted in her mind how many times she had stared at that thing for hours on end. If she were to have to make an illustration of it, she believes she would be able to make a perfect replica of it. ''The first thing l would like you to do, is familiarize yourself with my notes and human anatomy.'' She had to actually think of a lesson for Laici. She hadn't actually taught anyone these things she had learned through hidden tomes (she never let anyone know her true reasonings for dealing with rogue necromancers was that she could confiscate their literature for her own uses) that she had gotten from past raids. She guessed she could let Laici pick which she'd rather learn. Skeletons or Zombies. Summoning a ghosts were a little more tricky since you don't really have much to work with and they tend to vanish when their time is run out or killed, making them, in her mind, a waste of time though useful if she needs a quick servant. ''l can start to teach you about either Zombies or Skeletons. Which you pick, we shall start with.''
