Stay away from him, there is a darkness inside his heart. A monster waiting for light to fade...

Feeding on the carcass of an already deceased animal, Blackout allowed the nightmare of words to plague his thoughts. What could be a better tool in ignoring his curent situation anyway? The past always mocked him, giving him the edge he needed to stay strong.

Tearing off another piece of the rotting flesh, a low growl rumbled in his body. This was humiliating, he could have been of use to those wretched beasts that cast him out. He had strength, he had endurance... he had rage. ...Rage, a power few could control and fewer handle.

Smirking at the thought of his power, the dark wolf chuckled, bending down to take another bite of his wretched meal. The fowl odor churning his stomach as he pulled another piece off.

Never waste resources, Black. Ever. Emotions can be just as deadly, remember.

User ImageHer nerves were nearly raw as she paced through the forest, not quite paying attention to her border patrol duties as her mind raced through all of the things currently exploding to life within her pack.

But the thing that sat so heavily on her mind was her own mother. The Dhama was losing more and more of her strength every day, and her mind had started to decay as of late. Silent Blaze wasn't sure how long her poor dam would last, and it made her heart ache.

However, she knew what the pack needed, and right now, it was strength. A solid rock that they could look to for support. The winter had been devastating, the Untime falling swift and viciously onto the valley, searing the world with its cold. She had known it was coming, but it had been more fierce than any her father had ever witnessed, or heard about from generations past. It had unnerved her, and they had lost many old and young to the winter's unforgiving teeth.

With her mother so sick, however . . . The Dhama babbled about letting the pack prosper as is, but with their numbers so few . . . With the pups all but gone, they didn't stand a chance at surviving unless some new blood was brought into the pack. At that moment, Blaze decided that she would initiate the Search no matter what.

They needed to survive.

The black, red spattered wolf had left her packlands without even realizing, so deep in thought she had fallen. Not far, but far enough to catch the scent of something dead and rotting drifting to her on the breeze. The mouth of the valley lay North of her, and as she sniffed, she realized how far away she had drifted out of her home. To others, the trees would have looked the same, but it felt different here. Colder, even as the sun blazed above her, well into its summer cycle. The solstice was still weeks away, but the weather had improved considerably.

It didn't stop her from shivering. She couldn't feel the fire from here, and it unnerved her.

As did the scent of rotting flesh. Determined to find out its source, she followed her nose and went deeper into rogue lands.

Lifting his now darkened muzzle to the sky, Blackout smiled. He had made sure to satisfy his hunger and avoid over-eating. What a beautiful feeling it was. Having the ability to move normally and not feel like a bloated, pregnant she-wolf.

Too many times he had come to witness another lonewolf eat far too much. Taken in by greed and gluttony, they devoured nearly their own body weight, plus. Then, to their dismay had no ability to run or in some cases walk. He was above such behaviour. Allowing two sins to grow in his heart wasn't something he needed. He already had a sin, it kept him safe. Why have another?

You habor a powerful creature in you. Nurture it, but take care when unleashing it...

Closing bright emerald eyes, Blackout thought of his past, about his mother, his sister... and of the father he never met, yet heard stories of. His power, Blackout wanted his fathers power.

Hearing a rustling of leaves in the distance, the dark wolf turned his head suddenly. Nothing beat a face full of wind and possiblity. Both calmed his spirit and urged him forward, and as the breeze rushed over him, it brought him what he wanted. A possiblity. The scent of another.

Taking a couple additional breaths in, Blackout grinned. Yes, perhaps this one wouldn't judge and might actually understand him. Might have use for him. If not...

The sound of bones cracked as a distant memory played. Those that judged, those that teased, those that killed his only friend. They were all lost, ripped apart by the demon known as rage.

...No. He wouldn't repeat that mess. Not unless it was needed. He learned. Pushing himself forward quickly, the dark wolf ran, following the scent of another.

It was unmistakable now; there was a wolf around here, probably taking advantage of the carrion. At first her instincts to keep intruders out of her lands raged, but then her common sense kicked in. Hadn't she just been bantering in her own head about the pack needing new blood? This might be a sign from the fire god.

Her trot turned into a lope as she tried not to think about how many rules she was breaking right now. Even if the wolf fight the characteristics of a potential pack wolf, no one except the Drugo or Druga was allowed to bring in candidates, not even the Dha. But she didn't think the wolf would stick around for her betas to find him in a few weeks time . . .

It was now or never.

And apparently now was sooner than she had expected, as she leapt over a tall fern and nearly collided with the dark male, twisting her body away from impact at the last second. She crashed into the ground in an undignified heap, legs akimbo, growling at her own idiocy.

"Why yes, Blaze. Go charging . . . into the unknown . . . and break . . . your neck . . . "
