Amphi wasn't sure how to act or to be after Roch had told her that he asked...and of all people...Xiu to help her with her...issue.
It was a little disheartening to know that her boilfriend was okay with telling others about the danger she could pose instead her doing it herself. But was she really upset at that? Or was it that he had told Xiu, a ghoul that Amphi had sworn to protect as a friend!
Maybe it was a mix of the fact that she was said friend and well...Amphi wanted to...when she was comfortable...tell both Lizzy and Xiu together. Both of the ghouls were in SEEDS as well and if the tracker picked up on the group well...then SEEDS would be for naught.
And it would be all Amphi's fault. She would've gotten them caught, hurt....a fate worst then her own. Tortured...She wondered and shook as she wrapped her arms around herself. The usually calm and cheerful mermaid now stood at the foot of Xiu's dorm room instead, shaking and plauged from memories before she pushed them back.
A deep calming breath and a facaded smile on her face, she knocked on the ghoul's dorm. On her back was a pack full of all the sleepover supplies that she would need if she was going to present the idea to Xiu. And she reminded herself that she was doing this for herself, so she could have a voice again. So she could talk again and sing and stop the silence.
And not to make her boilfriend and friends happy. Even if they didn't understand the pain she had gone through at the time.

Xiu wrestled with the extra mattress, gritting her teeth together as she tried to drag it out of her tiny closet. How she even got it in there in the first place was a mystery, but the baku make a mental note to put it in a little more accessible place after tonight.
Or well, she assumed that it would be used tonight--Xiu had yet to call Amphi to ask the mermaid to come over. After what Roch told her, the baku was anxious to try and convince her friend to let her help. If there was one thing that she had faith in in herself, it was her dream diving ability. Of course, experience had taught her that she could only help lead dreamers through their nightmare. Whether they managed to break free of what was plaguing them...well, that usually depended on the dreamers' own willpower.
With a great deal of effort, tugging, and wriggling of the mattress, Xiu finally managed to free it, dragging it to the empty spot beside her bed with a sigh. Figuring that the blankets and things would be easy enough to set up--and that it would be best to do so after confirming whether Amphi would be willing to come over--the baku grabbed the eyephone sitting on top of her bedside table. Just as she began to search for Amphi's number, there was suddenly a knock on the door.
...Who could that be at this hour?
Knitting her brows together in worry, the ghoul hurried to the door and threw it open, only to widen her eyes in surprise when she realized that it was Amphi. Could this be a coincidence? Or...?
Reaching out, Xiu gave her friend a tight hug, holding it for a moment before drawing back with a small smile. "Ah--good evening! I had just been about to call you, actually."

Ah Amphi blushed as the door opened to her friend and she looked around and smiled. Her phone pulled out as she nodded to her, pointing at her device for communication at the moment.Quote: I'm sorry to intrude on you so late in the evening! I was wondering um... Trying not to let the concern at Amphi's lack of voice show, Xiu held up her hands and quickly shook her head. "No no, don't apologize! And, um..."
She trailed off so that she could read the rest of the mermaid's messages, giving a nod of confirmation at the mention of Roch, and then smiling a little wryly at the last question. Straightening up, she looked at the ghoul with a faint smile.
"For...the same reason that you came here actually, I think. I wanted to know if you would like me to dream dive and see if there's anything that I can do about that nightmare of yours." Or, in theory, Xiu could have dived into someone's dreams without permission...but the baku had stopped doing that a long time ago. Considering how private dreams sometimes were, she now refused to barge into them unless she was personally invited by the dreamer.
"I have everything set up too," She added, moving aside so that Amphi could see into her room, "I just wanted to be prepared in case you agreed, but if you don't think you're comfortable with me lurking around in your dreams..."

Amphi could see the uncomfortable motions from the Baku about her voice and looked down sadly. Since the mermaid had been so vocal before, she knew that it was a drastic change. Though she appreciated her friends attempts to act normal.
Ah, she was surprised that Xiu had already prepared so much and gave into the emotion of her friends caring nature. Small arms wrapped around the baku ghoul as she held on tight. Her head nodding as she hugged the ghoul tighter.Quote: Thank you...Xiu for helping me with this. Please, tell me what I need to do so that it's easier for you? Do I need to prepare anything myself?

Xiu was more than happy to return her friend's hug, giving her a tight, reassuring squeeze. If there was ever time for Xiu to be confident and have faith in her abilities, it would be now. Although not nearly as experienced as she would have liked, there was no time for the baku to doubt herself right now--she would do what she could to help Amphi.
Smiling at her friend's question, Xiu held her index finger up--a request that she wait for a moment--and then skittered into her kitchen. There were a few minutes of clanking and cupboard doors opening and closing before the ghoul finally returned, holding a small cup of tea on top of a saucer. Moving towards where Amphi waited, she crouched down beside her.
"This will help you sleep," Xiu carefully held the steaming cup of tea out to her friend, "Be careful--it's a little hot, but at least it doesn't taste too bad." The tea tasted just how it smelled--a herbal tea with a sweet touch of honey.

Amphi nodded her head and then smiled, taking the tea when Xiu offered. She finished it and then made herself comfortable on the bed that was set out. Her phone was offered one more time with a shy smile as she drifted to sleep.Quote: Night Xiu! I'll see you in my dreams!

(( excuse me as I launch into a giant exposition of dream diving stuff with permission lmao alkdjfashjdf ))
Xiu smiled at the message, resting a gentle hand on the ghoul's arm as she settled down into the bed. Knowing that it would take a bit of time until Amphi was completely asleep, the baku got up, quietly working on washing the dishes and finishing up a few quick chores before she wandered back out into the living room. One look at her friend, and she knew that she had fallen asleep.
Okay, let's do this.
Settling down on her couch, the baku shut her eyes, trying to clear her mind and focus on the darkness. Soon enough, little pinpricks of light began to form in the darkness, stretching out until they became dozens of light, web-like threads. They floated around her in a multitude of different colors and shades. Some were iridescent in color, pearly and bright against the dark backdrop. Others, however, were much dimmer, and had a more matte sheen to them.
And then there were the threads that led to nightmares, a black thread that shone red at certain angles. When Xiu first arrived at Amity and used her dream diving abilities, the threads had appeared to her as simple paths that she could follow to enter another's dream, but somewhere along the way--sometime during her months here and all that training--the paths had slowly thinned out until they had become what they were now.
Of course, that was not all that had changed. What with all the dreams she had entered in her time here, the ghoul had managed to get a decent grasp on actual dream manipulation, though it was still a little difficult. Getting rid of dream characters or scenes was easy--all she had to do was "eat" them--but making new ones took some time. It was sometimes hard to distract the dreamer for those five or ten minutes that she needed to create a new character or setting.
Whatever the case, Xiu was prepared to do whatever she had to to help Amphi. Finding which thread was the mermaid's was easy--she knew that the ghoul was having nightmares, and then all that it took after that was running her fingers along the nightmare threads until she found the one that resonated familiarity. Upon finding the right one, Xiu grabbed onto it and let it lead her out of the mass of floating threads and into pitch darkness. And then, as she continued walking, she found a scene slowly forming around her.
...This was...a lagoon? There was Amphi now, singing with that lovely voice of hers. The baku stood back to listen, letting the music flow around her before she gave a determined frown. If she could help it, her friend would get her voice back as soon as possible.
The baku wasn't yet sure whether to make her presence completely known yet or to wait and watch what happened, so she simply took a few steps forward, making it so that Amphi could see her, but only if she were to turn her way.

The closer Xiu got to the Lagoon though, it seemed to melt into a the underground cavern. Instead of flowing water, there was hardened crystallized lake. The mermaid changed from her true form to her student form and looked over her shoulder.
"Xiu?" Amphi's eyes widened as she rushed to the Baku, "I didn't know you came to the cave! It's not safe for you to be here.." The mermaid frowned and looked around. "This is where the hunters caught us. If they caught you...I would be really sad." Amphi rubbed her face with her free hand. Ah--she had been spotted. The baku tensed up upon hearing her name, but she took a deep breath and quickly forced herself to relax, lips tilting upwards in a small smile. "Hi, Amphi. And, um, I know it's dangerous here, but I came here because I wanted to help you."
Not entirely a lie, to be sure. The baku rest a gentle hand on the mermaid's arm, and then frowned as she looked around. So far, everything seemed relatively peaceful...but this wouldn't last for long, she was sure.
"Where are the Hunters right now?"

"Help me?" The mermaid frowned and then looked around again. "Please stay close to me then so I can protect you." The Mermaid nodded before leading them over to the crystallized lake. "When I came here, Roch told me that I couldn't go swimming in it..." She tapped the glass lake, "And we started to hear voices. Like when we had that trance."
She rubbed her forehead as if in pain. "The hunters are..." A flash of light engulfed them both and the sensation of being trapped and cornered suffocated them both before they both woke up in a white room. The same white walls, it felt heavy...FEAR felt heavy. There was five others but there shapes and beings were unclear to Xiu...and yet Amphi knew.
"We've been caught again...They found us again. Its cause of the tracker..." The mermaid clutched her chest as she looked around, "I knew it would happen again. They turned him into a weapon so it was only a matter of time before they found us again. They just need one more of us to offer ourselves up..." If it that made an sense at Xiu...But instead of Amphi looking at the Baku...she was looking at the glass that seperated the white room from the rest of the hunter world. Since she hadn't ever seen beyond on it...it was safe to assume that if Xiu herself looked over the glass, nothing would be what she was met with.
"They'll come talk to us...and try to make friends with us..." Amphi rubbed her chest more, a dull aching pain that just wouldn't leave.Kaiyumi I feel like this is Chaotic ROFL Let me know if I need to make things more CLEARRRRRRRER

While there was little that Xiu personally feared now when it came to dreams--after all, with a little effort, she could make any threats to her safety "disappear"--the baku nodded obediently when Amphi asked her to stick close.
The sudden change in scene startled Xiu--okay, so that was one thing that she would never truly get used to--and she instinctively bristled at the bright white walls. Being in a facility like this just reminded the baku what Hunters did to their kind. They had absolutely no respect for the fact that they were alive, capturing them and using them to achieve their own goals.
Before she could get too worked up, Xiu reminded herself again that this was a dream.
"But...why do you need to offer yourself up?" She piped up, turning to look at Amphi with a slightly puzzled glance, "In the past, didn't they just...kidnap and force the students to turn, or...?"

Amphi stepped up to the glass and placed her hand on the panes...looking at something..or somebody beyond it. Her mouth moved, smile bloomed on her face before she broke away and returned to Xiu.
"It's better if your willing." Amphi took Xiu's hand and closed her eyes, "This is one of the worst parts so please don't be scared." The glass pane melted away and Amphi gently tugged the Baku through it, into a hallway. The walked in silence only for a few moments before she hesitated in front of a door marked with LAB A.
They were shoved inside, staring at a large tube surrounded by computers and human technicians. Her hand tightened on Xiu's as she stared straight on.
"Israfel fell for the hunters, and became good friends with one of them. Little did we know that she was tricking him...using him. When you make a connection with one of them...they suck you in." Amphi eyes remained shaded..."I was this close to becoming a weapon." She watched as Israfel...the first shape to be so clear smiled at them and entered the tube. A small wave from the siren before electrocuity was shot through the tube. They watched as he disengrated, and then reformed...this time instead of the siren was a stone tablet and a blue feather.
The last of the siren's exsistence.
"I became friends with a hunter named Wash. he's one of the better hunters...he even helped us when we left but...I was the same as israfel..I could've turned into that." Tears flew down the mermaid's cheeks. "They turned him into a weapon and made us watch...and then they brought us back...-"
The room changed back to the white walled prison.
"-here...to tell us about their plans to grab more students...unless another one of us offered ourselves up."Kaiyumi here have a breakdown of my horrible memory of this plot ROFL

Xiu gave Amphi's hand a light squeeze when she felt the mermaid's fingers curl around her own, simply giving a little nod to show that she understood. She obediently let herself be led into the hallway, and then one of the labs, eying the large tube with a sudden wariness. Dream or not, the temptation to destroy that thing was really quite overwhelming.
And then that was...Israfel!? The baku suddenly bristled, eyed wide as she momentarily tore her gaze away from the tube to look at her friend. Wait, so the siren had been...? And he was now...?!
"They turned him?"
Despite the fact that she hadn't known the siren too well, a wave of sorrow and anger washed over the baku ghoul. Israfel...perhaps he had been naive to trust the hunters, but all he that he had really wanted was peace. He had meant well, but in the end...
Expression softening, Xiu reached out to give Amphi a hug when she realized the poor ghoul was crying, her gaze briefly flickering towards the walls and then back when the setting suddenly changed. "So they gave you a choice," She murmured, knitting her brows together, "Either one of you or one of the other students...is that right?" Of course, thinking about that...there would have been nothing stopping the hunters from going and gathering even more students, even if all the ones they had captured had volunteering to sacrifice themselves.

Amphi nodded her head at the mention of Israfel being turned. Yes. He had been turned and would later be a weapon for the hunters. It was saddening and maddening at the same time.
She sniffed as she held the baku and continued to talk. Though her voice hushed to a whisper. As if she was afraid the hunters would come to attack again, or come to take her away. It was but a second that she was silent before she talked again.
"They showed files of the ones who mattered to us. A lot of files. Pictures of us and other students.." Amphi turned Xiu so she could look at the glass wall. A shadowy version of Caelius appeared, his words mumbled but the pictures he held up visible and eerie. Pictures of Xiu, Lizzy, Thanatos, Bul, Christof, Aymet, Nuru, Alex, Danny, Roch, and Tybalt all flashed.
"He know's about all of us, they know all about us and I don't know how but they do." She let go of Xiu and buried her head in her hands.
"He told us that only one more of us, One more student needed to turn into a weapon, then they wouldn't hunt our friends. We argued. We were so stupid..I offered myself. I thought if I could turn into a weapon it would save them you know, You and everyone else. We all had the same idea and we were so quick to make the descision. Mei..Mei was the only one that was telling us to wait. We had time...we needed to actually think it out." She laugh half-heartedly.
"And he came back...He came back with other hunters and told us that even if we couldn't decide...we'd still be use of us." The dream shifted to Amphi lying on her cot, the FEAR draining room intensified as her eyes shifted back and forth. She couldn't move from the cot...
"And they put a tracker in us..." She whispered as another tear fell and the scene played out.
The first thing Xiu would notice was the fear, bright and overwhelming as one of the hunter techs hovered over the mermaid. The fear thickened at the gleam of silver handed to the tech as his hand lowered over her, bright runes gleamed on the blade. Then pain, it hurt. It was shocking at first, almost unreal before it set in. The first scream escaped the mermaid as she thrashed..if you could call it thrashing.
The only thing that seemed to move was her mouth, her arms stiff as the tech split her apart. The bodies moved so they blocked Xiu's view of the opened body but she could see the small device, which squirmed a little as it was replaced by the scalpel and placed where the tech had cut. The screaming never stopped in that moment, the pain which had been intense magnified until the mermaid's voice disappeared. The quiet was eerie as you could still her mouth moving, pleading and yet nothing. Sweat covered her face before her eyes rolled back and the Tech's closed her up.
The dream Amphi appeared behind Xiu, gasping...clutching her chest as she felt the tracker shift in her. Even in her dream...even in her dream it hurt, It hurt so much. The pain, how could she deal with it, how could she?
"that's when I lost my voice..." Amphi gasped out and looked at Xiu. "They inserted a Tracker in me and I lost my voice for it...."
