Appearance:
Height: 4'6"
Weight: 100 lbs.
Hair: He has straight, (very) long teal hair that he keeps tied back (otherwise he looks like a little wild child).
Eyes: Medium brown
Other: Tkal has lightly tanned skin and a lithe build with wiry muscles. He has pointed ears like an elf and tends to wear an old, worn, and brown hooded cloak over his clothing. He also carries a pair of short swords with him.
Personality:

His dominating trait, Tkal's personality is a labyrinth. This mysterious halfling speaks very little about himself. His true intentions and emotions are generally hidden behind an unfading smile (though the degree of smile changes) and he seems to find amusement in others attempting to solve the puzzle that is his personality.
[Erratic]
Despite the smile that never ceases, the tone and attitude behind it shift inexplicably. Just when one thinks they have him figured out, he shows a completely different side of his multifaceted personality. He rarely follows the orders of others and his aimless wandering seems to match his wayward persona.
[Curious]
Tkal has a cat's curiosity. Whenever he becomes interested in a subject, he will pursue information on it until satisfied. This applies to people too, and once a person is dubbed "interesting" it is likely that he will stick with said person until either that person reaches an end to their traveling or is headed to Avandere. Those he finds boring or irritating he calls "unfun," and he will often leave their presence at the first chance he has.
[Plotting]
Although he does not usually appear to be, Tkal is always thinking, planning his next move. Because of this, he appears to be three steps ahead of his opponents and relatively hard to surprise. Motion tends to help him think; it is part of the reason why he will fiddle with a piece of wood and proceed to whittle it into a carving while speaking to others.
Quirks and Habits:
- Generally avoids Avandere. Claims that city life doesn't suit him.
- When his hair is not tied back, he prefers fighting hand-to-hand rather than with his swords
- Usually asks for directions to be given to him verbally or through visual aids, as he is illiterate

Background:
Tkal was born to a human carpenter and an elven archer in the lands below the floating island. Both sides of his family had worked with wood for generations, so he grew up watching (and later helping) his parents and grandparents with their work.
At age ten, he was kidnapped by slave traders, who kept him and many other children on an airship for several months. There, he was bullied by his cellmates due to his small size, as all of the others were large for their age--and often twice his size.
He was sold along with 19 other children in a land far away from his own. His "owners" were displeased that he was in the group sold to them, and as a result he was severely abused. Believing he couldn't pull his own weight, they forced him to do ridiculous tasks and tricks for their entertainment while the other children did manual labor. When his owners decided he'd run out of use, they threw him into a deep pit, where they left him to die. Although it nearly cost him his fingers, Tkal climbed out--and regained his owners' interest as a result. They began throwing him into fights against anything they could find--generally their dogs or wild animals attracted to their food. The men soon decided to make some money off of his survival feats and entered him in gladiator-like contests.
Two years after he was first sold, he finally escaped his captors and stowed away aboard an airship that took him to Avandere's Red Circle. During his time in Avandere, he polished his fighting skills and learned as much as he could. He picked up swordplay, pickpocketing, sleight of hand, and various other tricks that the people of the Red Circle could teach him.
At age 16, he left Red Circle and began wandering the floating isle. Since then, he's developed a reputation as a masterless swordsman that brings misfortune to those around him, and has become known as Tkal of the East Wind as a result. He continues to wander the island, often traveling with those he deems interesting.
