Marcus had scolded Dis, but about five minutes into the scolding, he sighed, frowned, lightly pushed Dis's should and told him not to be so touchy feely with the other weapons. Last thing Marcus needed or wanted was Dis's golem breaking down due to him being a pervert or from getting beat up by some other weapon.

That had been a few days ago.

Now, the vampire had calmed down and was being slightly more manageable. He was listening to Marcus and the orders, but- "I want to talk with him again." At first Marcus had no idea what Dis was talking about but then, "I want to talk to him." The confusion was evident in his face, unhidden and natural. The hunter might have never seen Dis 'in the flesh' but the expression was not one he'd have set to the vampire.

Sighing, Marcus closed the book he'd been reading and motioned the vampire to get up from his lounging. "Alright." Dis looked at him, slightly shocked. "Let's go talk to whoever it is you're so fascinated with." The smile was devoid of mischievous looks, but rather filled with a melencholy Marcus thought was odd. Still, the vampire led the way. Out the dorms, down to town to the house of one death hunter.

"Jinhaiiiiiii~" He didn't even knock, just calling out for the weapon in a sing song voice.

Gale hadn't exactly scolded Jinhai, but he'd at least warned the dragon to be careful. And while Jinhai had assured Gale many times that he was as cautious as cautious could be, his partner was neither convinced nor relieved of his suspicion - though Jinhai had the sneaking feeling it was more due to Dis than it was to him.

Not that he minded. He still did not know the vampire all that well - but the fact remained that he, in all likelihood, had known him, at some point, and right now Dis was his only connection.

Dis and Takeru. But Jinhai's feelings towards the Quilin were so convoluted that even he could not quite understand them, and all they provided at the current moment was frustration and a bittersweet pain that made him want to be both close to Takeru and far away simultaneously.

Dis, despite their hazy memories, provided neither of things, but at least provided stability, a sense of calm that made him feel less tense about everything and more relaxed.

And, on the day that the vampire chose to visit, he was currently sitting on the couch in the living room of Gale's newly redone house, lost in thought. Gale, sitting sideways in a dilapidated armchair across from him, glanced up at the two intruders.

"Oh, hey," he said, not bothering to get up or put down the book he was holding in his hands. "What brings you guys here today?"

The house was in better shape than Marcus's who was still so lacking in well... anything. A few wiring problems and then some plumbing to finish up... But that was for another time. This time, he was at Gale's paying the oddest social call ever. "Dis has been... behaving, and he claims he wants to talk. I'm guessing with Jinhai." The weapon made his way in with a smile, pausing only to give Gale the most harmless look he could muster.

It did not look harmless.

"Can I kidnap Jinhai for a bit? Maybe go to one of your spare rooms?"
"No." Marcus answered that part for him. "This is a reward Dis, one I can take away." Arms crossed as the vampire gave Gale puppy dog eyes.
Eyes laced with the glint of trouble.

".... I have no idea but he likes Jinhai. And that kind of weird me out a bit."

Gale's house may have appeared to be in better shape, but really it was still falling apart - and it was in desperate need of some furniture, considering all it had was the very bare minimum.

And the chair Gale was sitting in was really very uncomfortable. He gave Marcus a suspicious look, which transferred to Dis the moment the weapon started speaking.

"Oh, is that right?" said Jinhai lightly, flicking a gaze towards the vampire and giving him a smile. He looked back at Gale, who had scowled a little at the "spare room" bit, and his partner rolled his eyes, laying the book (which wasn't really a book at all, but one of Bix's comics) facedown on his stomach and giving Dis a once over.

"If I say yes, are you going to behave?" he asked pointedly, no doubt about what the word behave actually meant. Jinhai gave a small cough, which might have been hiding a laugh, and leaned back against the couch, amused.

Dis didn't hide his smile. "Oh golden boy, of course I will behave. I'm not a classless cad after all." Marcus snorted. There were different levels of class, and Dis certainly had some while simultaneously having none at all.

"I promise I won't leave any bite marks even, not unless Jinhai lets me."

Marcus crossed his arm, shrugged, and then looked to Gale. "He also promises not to get into any trouble. Right Dis?"

The weapon smiled at Gale.

He was totally harmless, can't you believe him Gale?

Gale did not trust that smile. In fact, he was totally suspicious of that smile, but he wasn't suspicious or distrustful of Jinhai, who was giving him a bland sort of innocent look.

He sighed.

"Fine. But don't do anything too crazy."

A pause.

"Really."

Gale was smart not to trust Dis. Marcus didn't trust Dis and Dis probably wouldn't have trusted Dis either. That was just how this 'thing' worked.

"Thank you Gale~"

Skipping over to Jinhai the vampire offered his arm. "I wanted to discuss.. memories. And things. Just whatever comes to mind." He waved his hand in the air. Marcus shrugged.

"See, he's just.. acting odd."

Jinhai gave the dragon a serene smile, lifting a hand and taking the proffered arm.

"Don't worry, Gale, I won't let him do anything too rambunctious," he said blithely as he got to his feet. He waved to his partner, who was still looking suspicious, and then gave Marcus a pleasant smile, stepping towards the vampire.

"Upstairs or outside?" he asked. "I'm partial to either."

Gale, meanwhile, gave Marcus a grimace.

"Ginny is always odd. And Dis seems, er...friendly."

Dis didn't plan on making a scene, at least not in public. He had no reason to, plus, he'd already gotten his kiss from Jinhai, he didn't need another. "Yes, don't worry Gale. While I may not listen to Marcus I will be sure to listen to Jinhai." He chuckled, and Marcus just rolled his eyes.

"Hrm, upstairs? If we want to leave we can jump out a window or some such." Didn't bother him, the golem was sturdy enough for it.

As Dis led the dragon up, Marcus just leaned against the wall. "Friendly... is almost too mild of a word." Rubbing his neck Marcus motioned to the chair Jinhai had been in. "Mind if I wait with you for them to come down?"

"Upstairs is fine," said Jinhai agreeably, and gave Gale a look over his shoulder that indicated he may or may not behave. When he got a more pronounced scowl in return, he grinned, and led the vampire up the stairs.

"What is it you need to speak to me about?" asked Jinhai, as he stepped up on the landing and moved towards the spare bedroom. "You are as mysterious as always."

Downstairs, Gale arched his brows at Marcus and smiled a little. "I don't mind. We can catch up. How are things with Cass lately? Set a date yet?"

Upstairs, the vampire took a while to check rooms. "It's a bit..." He looked at Jinhai, bored. "Well it's sparse. Your Gale needs to furnish and decorate. How is he supposed to bring a girl home if his home looks barren?" Because Dis was concerned about these things apparently.

"I wanted to talk od what we remember and what we do not." Red eyes looked to the dragon, mirth gone. "Why is it we can remember so much of Halloween, yet can remember nothing of who we are?"

Downstairs, Marcus was having a much less serious conversation with Gale. "Things are fine, minus the fact we don't have a house still. And..." He groaned, rubbing his temple. "We've had to reschedule twice now. Once due to the fact we were on missions, the second because of that damn horseman attack. As of now?" A shrug. "It's up in the air. We're still stuck on island, so we're not going anywhere fast in any event."

The spare bedroom hardly had anything in it, other than a twin-sized bed, a dilapidated desk, and a not-very-comfortable looking chair. Jinhai let go of Dis' arm to sit down on the foot of the bed, crossing one ankle demurely over the other.

"Gale doesn't decorate often," he said lightly. "He prefers things simple."

His expression shifted, moving to something less gentle, more frustrated. "I don't remember much," he said, and there was a bitter note to his voice, one that he rarely let slip. "I remember...I remember small things. Like how I like things a certain way, and how I like having things routine and neat. I remember..."

Something in Jinhai's eyes flickered. "I remember I chose this," he said quietly. "I remember I wanted...I wanted something."

But what exactly that was eluded him, danced out of his grasp. He closed his eyes, exhaling slowly.

"I remember I - "

---

Downstairs, Gale let his book rest on his chest, still sitting sideways in the armchair with his legs dangling over the armrest. He pushed his hair out of his eyes and said, "Yes, well, we've both had a bit of trouble with our houses, it seems. I only just barely got mine back into working order, and even then it's hardly fit for civilization."

His expression turned to one of reassurance. "Don't worry. If anyone will stick together forever, it's you and Cass."

The room was sparse and Dis was thinking how much better it would be with candles, some drapes, and a few other things. Traditional vampire Gothic. It was by far the best style to him. "Well, he should at least have some flowers or paint the walls. Hang a picture or two."

Red eyes scanned the room before looking the dragon golem up and down. "I see." Jinhai was also missing things apparently. "It's annoying really." Sitting on the bed with far less grace he leaned back, lazily crossing his legs.

"I find emotions I do not often have welling up with certain individuals. Such as yourself. And that Takeru fellow." He didn't mention Nicodemus. There was only negative emotions there. "I know things, such as quirks of halloweeners, of how certain things are and how they work, but personal memories are static."

The choice made him stare at the other. "Power." It was simple word. "I remember the feeling of being alone, of wanting power. This, what I am now, is power. I wanted it so I took it. That is what I know. How it came to be I cannot say, but I wanted power and now I have what I lacked." He sighed.
"But.. I think I gave something up. Like I left things behind. It is most disturbing."

------

He couldn't help it. "You'll give yourself back problems like that." He smirked. "And then you'd just be short forever." Okay that was a bit low for teasing but it was Gale.

One day you'd be tall.

"Trying to get mine top shape before we move in. Cass in coming down and helping now too, but with that dragon its all-" He waved his hand in the air. "Feels like if we fix it, it'll just get broken again. But, once it's done? I'm out of those dorms. Hopefully forever. Tired of having to keep-" he stopped himself blushing.

"The dorms don't allow a whole lot of privacy."

Smooth.

"Somehow I can't see Gale adding flowers," said Jinhai dryly, eyes flickering across the walls, which were a pale, faded blue, a few scratches etched into them. "Or hanging pictures. I might be able to convince him to repaint, though..."

The bed sagged a little as Dis sat down beside him, sprawling languorously, and Jinhai said, with amusement in his voice as he looked over at the vampire, "I like simplicity as well."

But then he lapsed into silence again, the frustration slowly building. And at the mention of Takeru's name, he visibly stiffened, his breath sharpening, though he tried to relax, to ease some of the tension in his shoulders.

"I...have glimpses, snatches of feelings and emotions around you as well," he said, and then added, a bit jerkily, in an attempt to sound casual, "And Takeru, too. I know a few things, just not..not what I want to know. Not what I should know."

Jinhai's gaze moved towards the vampire again, his tail flicking against his leg as he said quietly, "I remember power as well. Or rather...not quite the same power. I wanted...something else. To...be free of something. Restraints."

He gave a hollow laugh. "Ironically, the shackles I wear now are much more restraining."

He leaned back on the bed, side by side with Dis, and stared up at the ceiling, his hands resting on his stomach.

"I feel consistently in the dark," he whispered, and closed his eyes, exhaling slowly. "As though I am reaching for things I will never be able to grasp no matter how far or how long I reach for them."

------------------

Gale, in a very mature act, merely stuck out his tongue at Marcus and then gave a snort.

"You'll go bald if you keep talking like that."

The smirk faded a little, however, and he leaned his head against the back of the chair, eyes moving towards the older hunter. His face colored a little near the end, but Gale said dryly, "Yeah, I get the picture" and then sighed, looking around at his little house.

"I know it keeps breaking," he said. "But I think I'll keep fixing it. Things only stay broken if we let them, after all."

No flowers, no pictures, well it was Gale's house. It would just be a boring house. At least Marcus would decorate.

Dis would make Marcus decorate anyway.

"Good to know I am not alone then." He nodded as Jinhai spoke, agreeing with what he was saying. The bed shifted as he relaxed into it, body relaxing a bit more as Jinhai voiced what he was feeling.

"I don't mind having feelings, but, I would like to know why is it that I have them. I feel things without reason. It is unsettling." Looking down to the tail, Dis smiled a bit. The hunters had made the golems with every detail. It was quite nice really.

Minus the fact they had no blood. He'd be disappointed with that until he got a golem that would bleed for him.

"Shackles are not so bad. They can be fun in some instances." Dis tried to make light of it but, "I have my power, but I do not think it will be what I need in the future. Whatever it was that I left behind, I think I need that as well."

Truning to face Jinhai, the smirk was back. "Well, you have me, and we vampires are most skilled nocturnal navigators."

-----

Gale was keeping it classy. "I go bald the day you become the Death Lead." Marcus could bet on assistant, but lead was a bit far off. So long as Caelius was alive at any rate.

Marcus was going to avoid the subject of him and Cass. Easy enough thankfully. "Well, I am a moon and I am required to do repair work and learn how to do it. If you don't mind an amateur, you can always ring me up?" He made it a question.

"But plumbing you're on your own okay? After the belly of the beast I'm only dealing with what I built at my house."
