Wandering around aimlessly was something that Yin had never really done. But now, it seemed that there was no better time to pass the day. Normally he did not wander all the way to Amityville though, and when he realized it it was an unpleasant realization. Looking around he realized that the place was familiar, somewhere on the way to the maul or train station then, but no place that he normally stopped. There were stores on each corner, and just across the street was a restaurant of some sort as there were wire tables and chairs lining the sidewalk.

That enough was nothing to make him pause, but then he actually recognized one of the individuals sitting down. The cowboil seemed to be intently studying some book or another, and Yin decided as he crossed the street that he should not bother him.

So instead of greeting him his plan involved slipping into the chair across from him and just staring as he waited. OvO

Mot was intently studying his DETH handbook, trying to familiarize himself with the facts stated within. He sipped his coffee idly, not wanting to break his gaze from the words contained. However, a feeling began to nag at him. He felt.. watched.

Mot's gaze lifted, seeing a familiar boil across from him.

. . .

Oh s**t. It was the creepy S&M lover.

"Uhm... howdy."

"Greetings Mot," the mantodae said evenly. He looked a bit worn, but that could be dismissed as him just having a rough night. His lame attempt at a smile might have passed as a grimace.

"I hope that I am not disturbing you from your..." reading? Studying? "...book." No, that was not said as if he had a personal grudge against books at all. Then again...he really could not blame the boil. Mot had probably never signed up for a class only to find out later that he would be taken to the land of love and other fluffiness.

Then, just to make sure that they would not fall into an awkward silence, Yin pointed out the obvious. "Ah so you are drinking coffee. Is it a pleasurable experience?" Yin did not think so, but he was doing his best to make polite small talk.

Yin seemed... off. The reaper frowned and closed his book, setting it aside carefully. "No, not at all." He replied softly, taking a sip from his cup. Yin's distaste when speaking the word made Mot feel that maybe Yin was another whom hated DETH and their ways, making Mot feel a bit.. alone. Did no one share his values?

"It is for me, yes... not everyone enjoys coffee. Especially black." Last time Yin had coffee he ended up sleepy. "Ever try tea?"

Yin barely knew what DETH was Mot. Then again, Yin really did not know most of Mot thought about him so nothing was really new. What he did know was that he had seemed to disrupt the boil's alone time with his book, but that he did not seem to mind that much.

"Indeed," Yin perked up ever so slightly. "Primarily just plain ones, I do not like those flavored with fruit," there was a slight curl to his lip. "And I have tried a few that Miss Xiu-Ying has prepared. She blends the flavors quite well." He glanced around at the other coffee drinkers in the area before his mind drifted back to the cup of green tea that Alexander had purchased for him at Bloodbucks and he closed his eyes momentarily, shoving all those feels aside as he tried to focus. "Do they serve tea here as well?"

"Xiu is a master tea maker." Even if her first batch he'd gotten had a less than desirable effect. The reaper nodded, slipping a menu toward the boil. "Of course. It's a cafe, so they have a lot of different teas."

Mot took a long sip of his coffee, waving a waitress over for them both. He needed a refill anyway. "So, what is new with you, Yin?"

"I have never been to a cafe before," he admitted as he took the menu, opened it, saw, words, and tried not to groan. Only one place to start then! Unfortunately for Yin that meant that he just read down the menu, rather than looking at the headings, finding the tea heading, and just looking under that. By the time the waitress got over to them he had only had a chance to find one "tea" on the menus, so without really knowing what he was doing he ordered a chai tea latte. At least it was tea.

When the waitress left to get their drinks he turned his attention back to the boil's question in full. What was new was..."a lot has happened," he stated simply. The understatement of the year really. "You...are aware that...that hunters took students." His throat was suddenly very dry and he wished that he had his tea now. "Since my rescue...things have been...different. I just..." His eyes seemed to be focusing on Mot's book, just something that was on the table that was seemingly innocent. "It is all going to work out," he murmured, mostly to himself, though he was not exactly convincing. Probably not what Mot thought he would be getting at, but there were quite a few things weighing on the mantodae's mind recently.

Really? Had never been to a cafe? "You must not get out much." He murmured. Or maybe cafes weren't his thing. "Oh.. sorry, I didn't mean it badly.."

Mot paid full attention, nodding as he mentioned the student captures. He'd not been on the siege to save them, and didn't know whom had all been taken. His eyes widened then as Yin admitted he was one of them, his hand releasing the handle of his mug.

"I...I'm sorry Yin.." Mot murmured, his eyes falling to his empty cup. "I'm certain you can pull through.. but it helps to have a shoulder to lean on for such things. Depend on your friends in times of need." Wasn't he and Alex together? Maybe he could confide in his boilfriend.

Yin had not even been to a real Halloween celebration, it was a given that he was a bit too closeted. He simply shrugged. The number of places that he had been in the past nine months were rather astounding really, so he was not offended or anything. With Mot alone he had experienced so many new things, like coffee and an entire shop just for leather. The cowboil definitely had some weird tastes.

"There is no reason for you to apologize," Yin said, just trying to break things down and focus on them one at a time. It was not as if anyone could stop the hunters, they were simply too strong. They knew too much. "Yes, having others around does help. Miss Danny has awakened now from her coma at least. And there is always Princess Eva. And Alex..." He stopped abruptly, throat closing off. Apparently listing those close to him had caused him to slip up. He fought to keep control, trying to keep his face blank. Failing. He cleared his throat and looked around for the waitress. "You prefer this cafe?"

That subject change was not obvious at all.

Danny was in a coma?! Geez.. Mot really did miss a lot. All the more reason he needed some Fear healing under his belt. He needed to help people. If anything this fueled that resolve. He didn't like fighting, or fighting this so called war, but like Hell he would stand by and watch his friends get hurt.

Mot nodded softly, letting the waitress fill up his mug and set down Yin's tea without much mind.

"I do. It's quiet.. but busy enough that I can people watch." He idly ran his fingers acros the rum of the mug, watching the hot drink steam.

The arrival of their drinks was a welcome relief. The liquid looked like no tea that Yin had ever had. It was not clear, murky or muddy really, and he eyed it with some trepidation. On the other hand it did not look like Mot's own bitter liquid, so he would give it a try. For the moment though he just wrapped his hands around the steaming mud, enjoying the comfort of the warmth it provided.

"Quiet enough to read?" He asked, his mind once again drifting the the fact that he really needed to get back into the habit of forcing himself to at least try. "Are you...very good at it? Reading and studying I mean." He was still eyeing the book as if it might just bite him. Eight months with books had done little with this boil. He took a sip of his chai, eyes widening a bit at the flavor. Different, but with enough spices and tea that it was palatable for a drink. Quite unusual really, but certainly better than coffee.

"Yes, enough to read." Mot answered patiently, his fingers drumming along the sides of his mug. His brows furrowed at Yin's question, shrugging lightly. "Well I suppose. I mean, I read quite a bit as a pass time, and I was brought up with books by my mother."

His head tilted, studying Yin's face carefully. He was always kind of awkward with Yin, but today seemed different. Maybe the aftermath of Deus had hurt him, or maybe it was something else entirely.

Yin brightened up ever so slightly. He probably should not have been happy because Mot was the one who read. Mot should have probably known that there was something else the weremantis was thinking of. But first he took another sip from his drink.

"Do you think...would it be possible for you to assist me? With reading that is." It seemed like such an awkward question just blurting it out so he stared at his drink for a moment before muttering an explanation. "Alexander assisted me in the past but I do not believe that is an option now." Well, there was that reason, and the other one which involved being alone in a room with Mot.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 25, 2012 10:02 am

If the weremantis was plotting something, the gullible Mot was out of the loop; completely unaware.

"Well, certainly, if you'd like. Is there anything specific you're having trouble with?" Mot asked curiously.

Oh good, he had agreed.

"Well I am not the best at reading," he explained almost casually. "I do not enjoy it but I need it for class. History as well is quite different for me. And writing home works assignments. And there was some reading in several courses that I had issues with. Oh and mathematics. I do not excel in that area. I am really quite grateful for you being so willing to help Mot."

Had Yin basically said he needed help in essentially every subject that was not entirely physical? Yes he had. The saddest part of it was that he really was rather atrocious at this sort of thing. "Oh and I probably should not go to the library to study, but you are welcome to come to my room."
