Maya sat at the edge of the river watching the small fish flutter around chasing shadows below the surface that shined like diamonds under the fungal glow of the forest. She found herself daydreaming that she was a fish at that particular moment something the strange girl seemed to do from time to time. In her mind she would swim forever in a river with no worries or sorrows and know nothing where the next step was to be. No cares except to eat and keep moving.
Pacju whined beside her, nudging Maya's lift elbow as her tongue flickered in and out of a nearby corpse. Blinking twice and sniffing Maya patted her companion affectionately. The Radaku tilted it's long snout at her in question. She always seemed to sensed how Maya felt. "It's alright little one, I'm not interested in that." She whispered to her trying to keep the slight grotesque idea from her mind. She snorted and trotted away a fair distance carrying the strange spitorog with her to enjoy her meal in peace.
Maya hated the amphibious creature it smelled funny to her the very thought of eating it made her stomach turn with its contents threatening to expel what ever might be contained within. Shifting her eyes back to the water Maya was unable to pick up where her day dream had left off. The sound of earthling's footsteps weren't far away from her and she was starting to wonder how many camps or how large the camp was near her home. They seemed to like joining her at HER river.

It was hard to take care of the baby thing she’d named ‘Raysh’, it always knew when Alassiel was coming for it, crying at the top of its lungs for her. It followed her around all the time, crying and annoying the hell out of the shifter. Even though it did annoy her to no end, she still cared for it, building a shelter, taking it out, feeding it... It took out so much of her energy; Alassiel now understood why the whole family helped bring up the younger generations. If it did grow to be as big as its mother though, he could possibly be a riding animal and that thought was very interesting.
Today was no different, it was actually bath time and she was taking him to the nearest river for a good wash. Right now his head was almost able to lean on her shoulder, and as he followed quietly behind her, Alassiel began to wonder what its age was. She knew nothing of most of the animal within the forest, how in the world was she going to know about the ones who weren’t even from here? Sighing loudly, she glanced ahead, seeing the river just there up ahead. It didn’t look like anyone was there, good thing because she had no wish to explain why she was being followed by a creature and why she had a training spear with her.
As soon as Raysh saw the water, he stopped; no way was he going into that cold liquid stuff. Alassiel tugged him on, her words gentle as she tried to get him to walk closer to the edge. In the end though, she ended up going behind him and pushing him with all her might until he was finally in the water. He grunted loudly unhappy about the situation, Alassiel glared down at him as she made her way back to the edge to drop her bag and grab a brush and knife she’d taken. Poor thing must be dying of heat right now with all that hair, she was going to try and give him a small haircut.
