With both Sparrow and the other hunter gone, Mei felt a little more at ease. Her wounds had mostly closed up already, and she was able to stand without a problem. She also took the time to heal Gale's wounds, even if they were minor in comparison. When that was all done and out of the way, she began to pace.
"I uh.." She started, not sure how to go about this conversation. It was awkward. Gale was a hunter--a good guy, but a hunter all the same--to discuss these things with him.. "I've been having doubts about the horsemen's intentions. After what the one hunter--the guy with the scythe--had shown me, its been..messing with my head. I'm not really sure who is in the right anymore. But, I've been asking around, and stuff..and.." she paused to look at him. "I need to know everything they've done to your kind."Pepzilla Just have Bul come across the HH randomly or something, and have him locate Mei and Gale. : D

He didn't make a move to help her bandage herself up, but Gale didn't make a move to attack, either. He felt tired, drained of the energy he had had previously - and besides that, he did not feel any particular desire to fight Mei.
Not anymore.
What's wrong with me?
<< Nothing. Just breathe. Breathe, Gale. >>
He tried, for the most part, but stood there, Jinhai still summoned, the weight of the rifle familiar and comforting in his hand. Mei was pacing in front of him, but said nothing - and neither did Gale. Instead, he waited for her to speak first.
Except when she did, it was not exactly what he had expected.
"...you want to know...what the horsemen have done to us?" he asked, startled by the question - and by the fact that it seemed as though she were having doubts. Mei, have doubts? The one who had been kidnapped by Caelius, who had been so adamant about her beliefs that they had fought many times over it?
Mei, who had gotten under his skin, in spite of all of that? Gale lifted a gloved hand, rubbing tiredly at his head.
"They..." he started to say, and then trailed off, trying to collect his thoughts.
"...they're monsters," he said finally, but while there was anger in his words, there seemed to lack energy. He was too tired to be completely worked up over them, even with his animosity towards those beasts. "They've destroyed many of our kind, as you say. They seem to think of little else but themselves, and their own agendas. They killed - "
Gale stopped abruptly, his expression muted. They killed Ben and they killed Julie, he had been going to say, but somehow that felt private, too personal to share just yet.
"Let's just say if it came down to it, I'd rather kill one of them than one of you."

Mei nodded when he asked. She needed to know--know what it was the horsemen were doing. What it was that they weren't telling them. If it were any other hunter, she may not believe them, but Gale was different. She knew what he would tell her would be the truth. At least, that's what she believed, anyways.
Wincing at the word 'monster', Mei remained in a thoughtful silence. She had that word used on her many times. It was true, though, it was what she was. But the way Gale had meant it..it was different, she understood what he meant when he said it. "Well, that's nice to know, at least." She offered a weak smile, before retreating into her thoughts again.
"I..have heard things around the campus. The students that have willingly joined up with the four clans. The students that had invaded your base, when they had come to get us out--they were all branded. From what I heard, that was the only way that the horsemen would help them get there. But now that, that is done and over with, they refuse to remove the brands from students that want no part in their plans. I'm not sure what the horsemen are up to, but its something sinister, I'm sure." She paused again. "Tybalt, a friend of mine..when we were on the field trip to the four clans--right before it got blown up, Madea had shown Tybalt's class a trance of the past, present, and..and a possible future. I'm not sure she intended to show it to them, but he saw it, and it was nothing good. For either of our races."

Leaning a little on the gun, Gale exhaled slowly, rubbing a tired hand over his face. He couldn't deny that he had felt uncomfortable for a long time regarding the horsemen - more than uncomfortable, angry - but learning that Halloween felt the same way was not what he had expected at all. Weren't they supposed to be on the same side as the horsemen?
He was starting to get a headache - and at Mei's next words, his head snapped up abruptly.
"...what...are you saying, exactly?" he asked, lifting his gaze to meet hers. "That the horsemen are not to be trusted? We knew that already, though. They're selfish and cowardly. They only want what they can get for themselves - at least, that's what I've seen. They are a merciless brand of creature."
His voice softened a little. "You Halloween creatures, at least...you may be volatile and angry and sometimes you don't know when to just back off, but...you're not heartless."
Jinhai made a small, soft sound in his head, something like a gentle purr, and Gale gave a small snort, shaking his head.
"Most of you, at least."

Shaking her head, she didn't answer right away. She needed to gather her thoughts, or it was all going to drive her mad. "I'm saying..that the horsemen are lying to everyone. They're recruiting students by offering them power, and allowing them to have their revenge on you and the rest of the humans. As you might know, humans aren't all that well liked in Halloween at the moment--but--some of us do care about the human race. Trust me, there were enough posters to prove it." The doll shuddered at the thought of all the DETH posters littering the school.
"I know that, and the same can be said for you hunters. But I know what you are saying, and its true. Some of us don't know when to back off. We're notorious for finding trouble. But can you say that you humans aren't like that at all? I mean..kidnapping and tagging was a little extreme, don't you think?" Waving her hand dismissively, she stopped pacing. "In any case, that's not important at the moment. The students they're initiating, I'm pretty sure is to replace the armies you and the rest of the hunters destroyed."
She could feel a headache of her own beginning. It almost felt as though she was going around in circles with this.
"But..the future Tybalt had seen, you humans were gone--wiped out, and then they turned on us as well."

((disclaimer: iPad post so there might be typos! Plus I have some Vicodin hanging out in the system :3a)) Context in this world of Halloween and humans was an important thing. For Bul, so little context was available when Mei called upon him after receiving a harrowing tagging by the hunters one of which would set Bul on a feral edge. Though he was too a monster the boil would only ever truly act defensively. After all he never wanted to be a part of this mess anyway. And yet here he found himself venturing along the parameters of the Haunted House, a place which proved ever still unbiased. Neither hunter nor Halloween (nor horseman really) seemed to be master and commander of the sentient vessel. Feeling the old and prickled wood beneath his toes, the scaley half beast sniffed vigorously. A fresh fight- the tingle of raised FEAR led him to believe he was not the only one near. However wandering the mansion was never as much of a wild shuffle as it would lend itself in lore- for as Bul proceeded into one of the rooms, it lead his straight to a conflict of interest. One where he was staring down the gold and white coat of a familiar small human and the flash of red magenta from his ghoul friend. Naturally, the monster boil bristled forth, teeth snarling and looking as though he'd caught his own mother cheating. "MEI-" he practically hissed, though his eyes caught sight of the hunters improved Jinhai. Natural reflexes kicked in, and the one day to be trick or Treater halted. His tail whipped furiously behind him and his nostrils flared nervously. Clearly the two had been there long enough already. Unfortunately for Bul, he had no idea on what terms they currently stood upon. He also didn't receive a distress text from his ghoul friend, leaving the half beast suspicious of an ambush. "what's going on..." he growled softly, as if it could intimidate.

"No, I didn't..." said Gale, and shook his head, hearing the dragon buzzing in his thoughts, quietly observing from the recesses of his mind. "I didn't mean you, personally. I...I think I understand enough of you to know that you are not the type to just go out and reap humans for sport."
Frustrated, he tugged on a strand of his hair, fingers curling around the weapon in his hand. "I don't doubt that the horsemen are acting out of their own interests," he said quietly. "From what I've seen, they're all under that one - the priestess, or whoever, the one with the brown hair who's always fighting with Caelius. And as much of a royal pain in the arse as Caelius is, I'd rather go up against him than that priestess if I had a choice."
Exhaling slowly, Gale nodded mutely in agreement and felt a little of the tension in his shoulders ease. It felt odd to be talking with Mei - just talking, without the fighting, but it wasn't unpleasant. Different, yes. And frustrating, obviously, but Mei had always proved herself to be honest, at the very least.
Jinhai?
<< I can't remember much about the horsemen, I'm sorry. >> The dragon sounded apologetic. << But I don't think she's lying. She looks sincere, and you know we've dealt with her before. Why would she make something up like this? Caelius has got her tagged, after all. He could wipe her out by just pressing a button. She's got no motives to fool you. >>
There was a sharp creaking sound, a flash of red near the doorway, and a familiar figure came stepping into the room, a low growl reverberating throughout his body - Bul, Mei's boyfriend, and the very last person Gale had expected to see, of all people.
Gale lifted his hands. "I'm not going to do anything," he said quietly, and uncurled his fingers from around the rifle. There was a small flash of white light and the weapon disappeared from his hand, a small silver ring inlaid with gold runes forming on his right index finger.
He lowered his hands again, sliding them both into the pockets of his coat. "...what exactly are you proposing?" he said, looking to Mei. "Are you saying that you...want us to be on the same side here..?"
The thought was ludicrous, ridiculous. But somehow, for some reason, it did not seem as outlandish to Gale as he once might have thought it would.

"Caelius..? That was..the hunter that spoke with us, yes?" He was quite intimidating, she thought. Someone she definitely didn't want to tangle with. Not if she could help it. "Yes, Madea is the priestess you speak of." To be honest, as charming and kind as she appeared, Madea scared the hell out of Mei. There was something dark about her..
"MEI-"
Startled, Mei spun around, wide eyed to see her boilfriend stepping into the room. It was obvious that she was shocked to see him here, especially since finding this place was not always by choice. Recovering from her shock, she looked from Bul to Gale as he desummoned his weapon and then back to Bul. "W-we're just talking, about some of the things concerning the horsemen I told you about as well."
Rubbing that back of her neck, she returned her gaze to Gale, growing silent for a moment. "I'm..not sure. I've definitely been considering it. But.." She glanced back at Bul for a moment. "I.."

Poor Bul had caught enough of their last bit of talk to give Mei just as nervous of a look. Even as Gale desummoned his weapon the monster crouched out of reflex, his natural forms dark scales rushing across his skin like a shimmer only to disappear again. Hesitating to approach Mei, he continued to scan not only Gale but the room around him as well. "the same side..." Bul uttered accusingly towards her. "I.. I thought I said that picking sides would be-" Well he never did say they were out of the option. He just couldn't believe that she really did have stronger feelings in support of the hunters. "Mei what do.. What do they really have to offer?" he asked, though left the question up to Gale as well. the monster practically crawled, his long legs stretched out behind him ready to jump around if necessary. Approaching Mei's side slowly, he arched his back and pushed himself back into a crouch. "All we are is in the way of their objective, is that correct?" he asked, this time very directly at Gale. "From what Mei told me about your kinds struggle, we are merely providing dead weight-" he paused then lowered his eyes to Jinhai's place around his finger. "though in some cases...." he trailed off nervously. Who was he to say that weapon didn't trust Gale more than anyone else in the room. He was not there to speak over or speak for his ghoul friend.. Only to try and stop a potential mistake by his presence. "You side with them, in whatever way you call it, you're opening yourself up as a target for horsemen as well. Your hands become dirtied and when and if they find that collective power to destroy humans they aren't going to take pity on the ones like us that get in the way. The hunters have done it too, if we're not there to help we are merely dead weight." Ironic, however, that he should say that... As all of Halloween was its own dead weight just stuck hanging in the middle like a chipped nail. It was obvious the boil was conflicted when the corners of his eyes grew moist.

"Caelius, my boss," said Gale, with just the slightest trace of a grimace. "He's very capable and very powerful, as you've already seen. He just needs to work on his people skills a little more."
Mei even considering to be on their side was mind-blowing, Gale's thoughts thrown into complete and utter confusion. He wasn't entirely certain how to take this - obviously it wasn't a lie, she was telling the truth (there was no reason for her not to tell the truth, after all), and Mei had already proven herself to be level-headed and intelligent.
As for Bul...well, Gale couldn't deny that he understood the protective instincts within the creature. Just as he would protect Eva to the death, he knew this one would protect Mei. He was strong and he was cautious - and right now he was suspicious, though Gale couldn't really blame him.
"You're not dead weight," he said quietly. "Not to me. I know we've had clashes in the past, and I know we've been fighting against you for a long time. I've chosen my side, after all. "
Frustrated, he lifted a hand, pushing gloved fingers through his pale hair. Jinhai made a soft thrumming sound in his mind, quietly reassuring, and Gale dropped his hands again, his gaze flickering towards the pair in front of him.
"I can't promise you that things won't get bloody," he said. "Because I know they will. I know you can't fully trust me, being what I am and being what you are, and I wouldn't expect you to. But if you do this - if the horsemen come, and you choose us - " He glanced towards Bul. "I can at least promise you one thing."
Gale took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
<< Or everything. >>
"And that is that I will defend you. If the horsemen come, and you are working with us - I will do my best to make sure that you are protected."
He lifted both of his hands, a gesture of humility, light from the room glinting off of the silver and gold banded ring on his finger. "I swear."

Mei nodded when Gale spoke of Caelius. Yes, he did appear to be leader material, but he was right about him needing work on his people skills.
Her attention was directed at Bul when he approached her. "Bul, I.." She wanted to stay out of this all, but with where everything was headed, its not likely they would be able to. She remained quiet as he spoke, not wanting to interrupt him. Waiting for him to finish, she lightly shook her head. "I don't know if we could live a quiet life. Tybalt told me about the trance class he had been too. He had seen a future--a possible future that Madea had shown them..the horsemen had wiped out the human race in it. They had tried to keep them like cattle, and use them for their fear. When that failed, they moved on to our kind. They betrayed us. If what Tybalt saw was the future we're to expect, then siding with the hunters to stop the horsemen might be the only way to keep it from happening. If this is the future--I hope to Jack it isn't--then we're likely to feel the horsemen's wrath regardless of who's side we're on." She shook her head. "I completely agree with Gale on this one. The horsemen look out for themselves. The only reason they have helped any of us so far, was so they can get what they want. They helped the students invade the hunter base, but not without branding them all. I don't even know if it was us they the horsemen were thinking about when they invaded. They always seem to have a second agenda."
She couldn't be sure if everything she believed was true, but she had a sickening feeling that she wasn't far off from the truth. Only time would really be able to spill it all she supposed. "I don't know if the hunters can really offer us anything..but, the horsemen have to be stopped! The things that Caelius had shown me--what the horsemen have done to humans already--I don't care if they're enemies or not. It was brutal."
Looking to Gale as he spoke up, Mei bowed her head slightly. She would need to think more on this and speak with Bul before saying yes to anything. But as far as she knew, siding with the hunters might be wise choice in the long run. "Thank you, Gale." For him to say that, it meant a lot.
Her gaze landed back on Bul, unsure of what was going through his mind at the moment. If she did decide to do this, she didn't want to do it without him. But, she wouldn't be able to force a choice out of him either. This was something he needed to decide for himself.

As if Gale could protect himself from the horsemen. Bul thought to himself sternly but decided it best not to act snide towards the hunter. This is one that he'd fought himself, encountered in battle more than once, and generally recognized. He'd be lying to himself to consider Gale a weak opponent. Regardless of his rank though, Bul knew what horsemen were capable. One single Invictus could tear the three of them apart in this very room at this very hour. It was a suicide pact to go up against a horseman. Like swallowing a bitter pill, Bul let Mei explain the scenario of Tybalt and the trance. Not having experienced it for himself, Bul continued to frown suspiciously. Eventually though his kind began to wander. "That time when we caught that hunter..." Bul began when he had the floor once more. "He seemed he would rather die than ever cooperate with the likes of us." the monster now turned to Gale again. "I didn't agree that he needed to be ended, I felt we could get some use out of him that didn't involve destroying him out of revenge. But you two are talking about a concept that contradicts everything that has happened between us since the beginning.." there was a quiver in the creatures voice. "And even if the horsemen pose a threat, you have the majority of Amityville ready to end themselves-" buls voice cracked, "before they would ever consider a hunter their ally." The boil threw a hand out, balancing an imaginary weight and shoving it between Gale and Mei. "The odds here look like s**t! Now unless there's some grand hunter scheme that doesn't involve striking My classmates down and turning them into tools of war where we can all just live happily ever after then you will continue to have my skepticism." A pause from the boil revealed he was really shaken to the point of tears. he reached up with his thick scaly fingers to rub each eye with his thumb and took a deep breath. "Mei I understand what this means to you. It scares me, it truly scares me. But knowing that things are just ready to get worse makes it hard for me to want that great victory we've always had coming. I just don't want a damn war." ((Jesus that wasn't even that sad and I'm having the teary feels ;; ))

He let them talk, lapsing into a tense silence, absently turning the ring on his finger.
I don't know what I'm getting into here.
<< It's all right, Gale. Don't force this. Keep calm, and relax. This isn't something that can be solved immediately, and they and you and everyone else knows that. It's a strategic move - you have a common enemy. The horsemen care for no one but themselves; you know this. >>
"Look," he said to the both of them, but his gaze was mostly on Mei, at least for now. "I'm not saying I'm all that powerful. I'm not saying I can do much in the long run. But we have a common enemy here - we've seen what the horsemen can do; what they have done."
He swallowed a little, and exhaled slowly, going back to turning the ring. Jinhai made a soft thrumming sound, and Gale's eyes flickered towards the monster. He inhaled sharply, feeling his throat tighten.
He's talking about Stacey, isn't he?
He hadn't known the older hunter that well, but he had been one of them - and he hadn't deserved whatever death the Halloween creatures had given him. Gale himself had overheard the creature who had done it gloating about it in the middle of battle.
He took a deep breath.
"Bul," he said, and looked steadily at the male, his expression quiet. "Bul, I know...I mean, I can't know for sure what it feels like to have someone like...like Mei to want to protect with your life. I told you before that I have someone - someone who I would be willing to die for, but it's not the same. I know you guys want what we want - which is what you said, peace. No war."
Gale paused a moment, and sighed, his hair falling into his eyes. "I can't promise you that," he said simply. "I can't promise that there won't be a war, because there will always be a war. But this, right here - this seems to be one way that we might be able to do something."
He gave a weak little snort, and added, a bit dryly, "There's strength in numbers, after all - isn't that what they always say?"
The room felt very quiet and very solemn. Gale wondered if Kat had made it back safely, and his expression softened a little.
"I know the odds are bad," he said finally. "But having at least a small chance is better than having no chance."pepzilla ALL THE FEELS als;knf BUL QQQ

Mei was surprised to discover that Bul was there when that hunter had been captured by the students. At first, she wasn't sure if it was true or not when Caelius had brought it up, but this apparently confirmed that he was truthful after all. Thankfully, Bul was not one of the students who wished for their death.
"I know that..I know how everyone feels about the hunters. I wouldn't expect them to help, that's like asking the impossible at the moment. But if we just wait around to see how this all plays out, then we might be a little too late to do anything about it all. Right now, my instincts are telling me that the horsemen are bad news."
The matter of the hunters weaponizing on the other hand, was something she was still trying to work around. There was no way she would assist with that. "If..if I did end up helping you hunters--and that's a big if--It would be strictly dealing with the four clans. I won't harm any of my classmates, not unless they have thrown their lot in with the horsemen. The whole weaponize project you have; its something I will never approve of."
Shaking her head, she knew the odds were bad for them. There was nothing they could do about that right now. But what Gale said..she agreed with it. She would rather fight for a small chance then not fight at all. "I know, Bul..it scares me too. But we're already caught up in it, and its only going to get worse from here, no matter who we're with."
Rubbing her forehead, she loosed a small sigh. "We don't even have to decide anything right this moment. There's nothing saying that the rest of the hunters would even agree to this idea anyways."

As he was addressed the half beast took in a deep breath and fought back the discomfort in his face. Bul crooned his neck and did everything he could to show any form of pride left in him by the angle in which he looked down his nose at Gale. "Strength in numbers that your group of humans believes we best serve as inanimate objects," he began bitterly. It seemed they had gotten no where with the monster until he finally evened his gaze. "And with Mei I must declare I have not, do not, and will not ever support that method of optimization." Caelius would easily disagree. "We are strongest when we have our brethren at our side, not separated. If you can show me that your kind can work with us that way then maybe-" he paused and swung his tail left and right before reaching a hand out requesting Mei's. "Maybe you have my interest." But the half beast still but his lip. Riley would be furious with him. In fact he had to wonder what anyone else would think if they heard what he'd just said. It was blasphemous to Amityville and everything he'd ever even said he stood for. SEEDs would become a double edged sword (not that it hadn't had its moments) to the boil and he'd have to continue to see that there were hunters like Gale who despite shooting him in the a**, could have the balls to desummon their weapons without the slightest cocky remark. Sighing, Bul looked to Mei with furrowed brows, a look which read i really hope you know what you're doing....
