Alex was one tall, filthy, miserable pile of zombie mess. Despite his best efforts to come to terms with things that had happened, he was just not coping very well. He still went through his daily routine. Classes, lair tasks, time at the library and work, but he did so like a literal zombie. He kept to himself, never smiled, a dim and dark look in his eyes no matter who he was with or what he was doing. He couldn't even fake it anymore. It just didn't seem worth it. He was unhappy, so why pretend to be anything different? But he still had responsibilities, still had an unlife to lead and high school to get through. He wasn't going to run away this time. He was just..going to stumble his way through and hopefully come out in one piece.
On this particular day he was just returning from his shift at work from the maul, shuffling along the hallway of the undead dorms with his eyes downcast towards the floor, his face drawn in misery. At least, because he'd just been at his place of employment, he was somewhat clean, though it was fairly obvious the boil hadn't bothered with showering or washing his hair in quite some time.
He was just making his way past a door that was slightly ajar when a sound stopped him. It was haunting really, a melody that seemed familiar but that he couldn't quite place. His head lifted and turned towards the door, the eerie humming coming from somewhere beyond. It was like a siren call, drawing him in. He couldn't help but lift a hand, hesitating for just a moment, wondering if maybe this wasn't such a good idea...
....and then he just did it anyways. He pushed the door open further, widening it, the faint wash of red that glowed across the entry way a little startling as he peeked inside.
"Hello?" He called, softly, his voice low and a little rough, full of the pain that he couldn't, or possibly just wouldn't, suppress.
