Pipith was Displeased, and yes, the capital letter was necessary. However, it was not the current disarray of the hard-hit Weyr that aggravated him most, or even his injuries; no, it was the overcrowding that he simply hated...selectively. He didn't mind his new green bunkmate - she was, after all, female - or most of the rest of the new dragons. But the new bronzes? That was just not okay. Two of them also happened to be rather large wingleaders, which was especially bothersome. They were unwelcome competition for notoriety and females, and it was making him a very, very grumpy dragon.
The diminutive bronze was griping about that very thing to his rider while he sunned himself by one of the lakes, interspersed with the occasional gripe about how his healing wounds itched. Worst of all was his left forepaw, which had been chomped on hard by some upstart little brown. Ultimately, the dragonhealers had had to remove the 'index' finger, and overall it was quite bothersome.
But not as bothersome as extra bronzes. At least his injuries made it obvious that he had fought, and that could earn him some amount of admiration.

A storm was brewing in the Weyrling barracks and anyone with a lick of sense had seen fit to avoid a certain room with it's red-haired occupant and silver bonded. The pair already had a rather distinct reputation for being a touch hot-headed and dangerous, but typically it was the now not so small silver dragon that was to be watched. Though as long as his rider was in a decent mood Devith was at his worst was vain and commanding and could be placated by a few well placed compliments and some soothing from his rider. Since the fall of Malvren and Benden though the tables had turned and the somewhat disconcerting red-head had gradually grown more and more irritated. The sheer press of bodies and the cramped quarters she was forced to endure were proving nearly intolerable to Hekate and she wanted OUT.
OUT! OUT! OUT! She didn't care where! The red-haired young rider spun in her quarters snatching through her closet to throw on a loose rich yellow-orange tunic and dragging a sheer amber colored cloth from it's place to bind her lengthening fiery red locks back from her face. About her her fair of firelizards winged and circled crying out in their distress, even the usually calm Prince had joined them in chirruping and calling his mistress's quick movements preventing him from landing to curl and settle himself about her hair in his usual perch.
Mine? Is this really necessary? Devith questioned his usually commanding tone giving way to one of worry and confusion at his rider's mounting anger and distress.
Yes. I am going out! Hekate half-snarled back, but kept her tone in check as best she could unable to be angry at Devith even with the mounting panic she felt at being constrained so. No I don't know where! Just Out! She barked before the silver could question her further striding out of their weyr her flits trailing after her in a flurry of wings and worried calls.
Squirming, fighting, and elbowing her way through the crowded halls Hekate struggled for the door. Stay where you are! I will fetch you! Devith snarled at his rider's alarm rising where he had settled not far from their weyr and approaching the barracks with a look that would make most observers wary.
No! Hekate desperately called out dragging herself towards the door and finally breaking free of the press of bodies and into the sunlight. No. We don't need more buildings to repair. She gasped out her chest swelling with the sudden elation of freedom as she took a step, then another. The wind seemed to pick up catching the red locks that had escaped her sheer headwrap as a few steps turned into a jog and a jog into a run.
When I can fly we will have no need to deal with such trivial matters. We will fly until all we see is open sky. Devith assured His picking up his own pace to fall into a loping gait along side Hekate as the two stretched and ran just for the sake of running.
"We can't stay airborne forever!" Hekate laughed out feeling almost euphoric at the idea of no more crowds, no more small spaces, nothing, but sky.
Who says! Perhaps they have merely yet to try! Devith bugled to her as the pair raced down towards one of the more distant less occupied lakes the silvers claws kicking up sand in their wake. Devith at this point had tripled in size and was still growing and now was as big as a large runner even as he pranced and ran alongside his rider.
"Next thing you know you'll be proposing we build a Weyr in the sky!" Hekate laughed hitting the sand and dropping into a somersault to land flat on her back staring at the sky. That is until it was blocked by Devith's very pleased looking face.
Excellent idea Mine! I always knew you were clever! Our own Weyr! Yes! Yes! We'll let a few select others join us of course, but what shall we call it? Silver Weyr perhaps? Devith mused and thrummed with joy drawing a laugh from his rider as she reached up to playfully push his nose out of her face.
"I haven't the slightest idea how that would work Devith~" Hekate chuckled good naturedly, but at the sudden look of disappointment in her dragon's eyes she reached up hugging his big dusky head.
"But I suppose in a day where one can hang nets of fire from the sky and whers can take over Benden then a silver Weyrleader of a floating Weyr certainly isn't that far fetched." She assured him softly as their firelizards finally caught up with them chittering excitedly.
It appears we are not alone Mine. Devith commented turning his head to glance over at where the small bronze and his rider were lounging on the beach a ways down from him and Hekate.

Reclining against his dragon's leg, in the shade provided by his wings, Set'al was only half-listening to the bronze's complaints. He'd heard them over and over again by now, and they were getting more than a little old. He couldn't help but hope that a female dragon would Rise soon, and that Pipith would win and it would put him in a better mood for awhile. Of course, if he lost, he'd be even worse, so maybe that would not be the best...
Someone is coming, Mine, Pipith said, interrupting his own brooding to point out the young silver and his rider headed their way.
Having tuned his dragon out, it took Set'al a minute to realize what he'd said. Oh. He looked up and waved a little, but since he was comfortable and didn't know if they were actually coming over, didn't move to stand yet.

Shall we gift them with our presence Mine? Devith question though both already knew the answer as the silver elegantly climbed to his feet pulling his rider up with him. Pausing Hekate brushed some sand from her pants Prince coming to land on he shoulder and twin himself about his neck though the large silver flit was forced to shift as a young brown landed on the opposite shoulder. Puffing himself up Baron added his own tail to Hekate's neck much to Prince's scolding that the brown's tail didn't match and look right.
"Hush you two!" Hekate scolded good naturedly patting their little heads as her three green circled deciding to remain airborne for the moment as they flitted ahead of the walking pair to settle themselves around Pipith peeping their greetings at him or in Countesses case. . .dive bombing to hug the bronzes face, not that she could much more then a green speck on the dragon's nose as she let out her high pitched chittering greeting.
Countess cease such actions this instant! Devith ordered his voice a low rumble sending the brightly colored green fluttering away to dive into the pocket on Hekate's tunic peering back out to chitter scoldingly at the silver dragon.
"My apologies. She's a bit enthusiastic in her greetings. I'm Hekate of silver Devith. I don't think we've met." Hekate replied approaching Set'al and offering a nod in greeting.
Greetings bronze one I am Devith, the fire haired one with the many flits is Mine. Devith introduced himself approaching the bronze his wings half spread and movements flawless to show of the regal shine and shimmer of his hide as he approached.

Facehugger alert! At first, Pipith wasnt entirely sure what had happened, only that there was something on his nose that shouldn't be there, and he went a bit cross-eyed trying to discern that it was a little green flit. What a nuisance! He snorted and shook his head in an attempt to dislodge it, but by that time, it was being called off, and away it went. Once it was gone, his eyes shifted from the annoyed colors they'd taken on.
He flicked his wings and resettled himself carefully, inclining his head politely to the young silver. Hello, Devith. I am Pipith, and the man here is Mine, obviously. Otherwise he would not have been louging against him.
As the young woman approached, Set'al stood to greet her, offering his hand. "We haven't, no. I'm Set'al, and this is Pipith."
He had never fully understood reciting your dragon's color when your dragon was right there. It was pretty apparent what color they were, wasn't it?

It took a good deal of will power for Hekate to not double over laughing at the way the bronze went all cross-eyed trying to look at Countess. It was simply just too cute and even after the green had left at Devith's prompting Hekate still let slip a small smile. "Oh hush you." She whispered to the little flit patting her head gently to cease the greens irritated chatter.
"Nice to meet you Set'al and Pipith." Hekate replied resting one hand gently on Devith's side where the young silver peered up at the bronze.
Well met then Pipith. Are you enjoying the view? The silver questioned turning to scan the lake. It was a rather pretty day after all, the wind causing little waves to crest on the surface and catch the light. I find with the current situation I spend more and more time on the lake shores. Devith mused glancing down to gently nudge his rider.
Hekate lifted a palm patting Devith's nose with a smile and turning back to Set'al. "Would you mind if we joined you?"

With the firelizard 'menace' gone, Pipith resumed a regal pose and pretended it had never happened. While a Weyrling silver pair were not his most preferred audience by any means, any audience was better than none, and as long as they were properly admiring of him, they could have his attention. And besides, as His insisted on reminding him, more people would like him and listen to him if he was nice to them. It is a good view, and a good place to spend time, he agreed, dipping his head in acknowledgement. In the lake is nice as well, though. I was thinking I might go in and catch some snacks, assuming our new...allies have not discovered and eaten them all yet.
"Not at all," Set'al answered, smiling. "Not that there's anything particularly thrilling going on here, but we wouldn't mind the company."

Devith settled beside the bronze thrumming his agreement. It would be a great pity if they have caught all the shining fish. As well as snacks they are quite pretty to look at though their sheen is hardly a match for our own hides. Devith replied tucking his tail about himself being careful to adjust his pose to best show off his own sleek silver. Mine and I have come here often of late to escape our newer allies. She does not like the press and crowd of so many.
"Thank you. I think I could do for a little peace and slightly less thrilling surroundings." Hekate replied and at the man's smile returned it with a brighter one of her own as she took a seat next to him trying not to grin too much at the two posturing metallics. Devith it appeared was eyeing up Pipith's form and attempting to adjust.
How do you hold your wings to catch the light like that? It is very impressive. The young silver questioned tilting his head as he attempted to slant his own wings to mimic the same affect.
"Honestly were it not for the risk of rain I'd be tempted to just set up a hammock and sleep out here under the stars." She added leaning back against Devith's side Baron, the young brown flit crawling down to settle himself in her lap to be petted.

The fish are nice, but the crustaceans are better. Crunchier. Maybe they won't realize they're food, and they will all be ours still.
With the young woman settled against her dragon, Set'al settled back against his. "I know exactly what you mean," he agreed with a slight chuckle. "I have had more than enough excitement, by far."
Oh, that?. It just happens, really. Which was sort of true. When you were shiny, it didn't take much doing to catch the light.
Some kinds of excitement were good. Wher rebellions were not among those. "Yeah, if it rained, I half suspect Pip here would pull his wings in in the middle of the night so I'd get wet."
The bronze in question looked as innocent as possible.

I think those from Benden believe them to be rocks of sorts with legs. The Malvren ones might know though. Hopefully they will not think to check. Devith agreed and despite Pipith's admission still continued attempting to mimic the dragon's pose much to the amused irritation of his rider who he kept displacing.
"Shard it all Devith you both look positively handsome." Hekate chuckled settling back against her shifting dragon's side for the forth or fifth time. The little silver didn't seem to realize that he was in the bronze's shadow and a bit to little still to catch the light. Perhaps as the sun shifted and fell on the Devith he would be satisfied.
"Well luckily the rains do seem to have held off for a while. I hope we can get most of the building done before the rainy season get's into full swing." She replied the mental picture of Set'al sitting up in the middle of the night with a yelp of surprise as his dragon pulled his wings in drawing a little laugh from the young rider. "I think Devith is more likely to try and sleep under me to avoid getting wet rather then the other way around." Hekate joked as Devith puffed himself up eyeing his rider.
Mine has no business sleeping outside in the first place. We deserve a hut. Devith stated somewhat smugly drawing a smile from Hekate as she stroked the little brown's head who sat stretched out sleeping in her lap. She was sure Prince was off gossiping somewhere for the usually clingy silver to not be on her shoulder. "And I suppose you will build said hut?" Hekate asked with a grin the very idea of Devith attempting to put together a hut as a child might put together a little house of sticks for their doll amusing her greatly.
Of course not. I am far to refined for such work. . .But if I did it would be the best hut out of all the huts. The silver replied with a low pleased croon.
"I'm sure." Hekate assured him patting her lifemates nose gently and scratching his eyeridges when he tilted his head to allow her to reach them.

It is true, they don't look very much like food. Maybe that will keep them safe. As the silver continued his efforts to catch the light, Pipith had to admit that he was pleased to be emulated. Noting much the same thing as Hekate, the bronze nonchalantly shifted his wing and thus his shadow so that Devith could have a little sunlight.
The rain is not so bad, and it helps sometimes when it's very hot out. I don't mind it. But Mine is right, I would wake him up with it. It would be very effective. Unfortunately, however, he couldn't exactly peel the roof off of a hut to let the rain in and wake up his rider; well, he could, theoretically, but it was much too impractical, and wouldn't go over well with their new bunkmate.
Set'al scowled at his dragon, though the expression lacked any real venom. "Like he needs another way to wake me up."
"The building seems to be coming along pretty well, so far, with so many people to help out. I try, but I'm no crafter, that's for sure." He was best suited to hard-to-screw-up tasks, when it came to building projects. No one wanted their new hut to fall in on them, after all.
