Agave was not in a pleasant mood. Although he had saved Aquitaine from his mothers knowledge and grasp...he had done himself personally no favors and was well aware that he was now under her suspicious gaze. This was no small mess he had gotten himself into and as he worked his way through the woods his mind was trying desperately to come up with a way he could escape her ire.

Unfortuntely all of the things he could come up with were things that Aquitaine - should she ever find out about it - would undoubtedly be quite upset about. He wasn't sure why this bothered him - except that he disliked displeasing those who were kind to him. There were so few who were kind in his life...Agave always hated pushing them away, even when he had no choice in the matter. Snorting he picked up the pace, moving beyond the edge of his mothers Teritory in hopes that something suitable would present itslef. Maybe the world would throw him a bone so to speak and he'd a find a way out of this current mess.

Life had been pleasant for Tethys. She had been given great kindness by the King and had been given provision to learn and to educate. It was all that one of her menial status could ever hope to achieve. But as the years went on, and her life lost meaning and world grew into shadows--she decided to break off her friendship with her student--which one day, or maybe was just beginning to be more.

WIthout a word, she left to find her way in the world before it would grow dim before her eyes far too soon. What would adventures be left if there were nothing left to see them with?

For a year, she'd been stumbling along ill forgotten paths learning tales that others had long forgotten or grown wary of. These would be the memories that she would be able to hold after the lights grew dim. These stories would be what remained when all else failed.

Already, her eyes were seeing shadows and unclear colours in the shifting light, she stooped to inspect a decadent smelling flower almost at her foot.

Agave couldn't believe his luck, almost as soon as he left his mother's territory it seemed that he had stumbled across the answer to his problem. A mare stood there, smelling a flower as though nothing in the world could possibly ruin the moment. How very terribly wrong she was. Flattening his ears against the inner voice which told him to leave the mare alone - squashing whatever pity he might have for her and the predicament she was soon going to find herself in Agave charged out of the woods.

"You! Mare! You are trespassing on the lands of the Arachnid Queen! Come with me immediately!" He demanded. Of course he expected her to run..they always ran, or screamed or otherwise begged for his mercy if they knew who his mother was. If they didn't..well they were still prone to running but it was generally a more confused sort of flight - as though they weren't quite sure what was happening but they didn't think it was going ot be good. At least they always got that part right.

He supposed that he could be more subtle with his approach, trick them back to his mothers lair..but to be honest Agave wasn't so very good with Subtle, he had never really been given that sort of training..no he had been taught to demand and force those around him to do his bidding by sheer strength. Since that was what he knew best he saw no reason to deviate from it now.

Her head came up to to the sound of the crashing through the folliage as much as the voice that demanded her obedience. She could catch them dim outlines in the dim junglely interior. Eyes, many eyes looking at her.

She stood still, unable and even refusing to run. What good would it do her? She was bedouin, given to the ways and journeys of her what sight was left her. "I did not mean to trespass, pray tell me how have I offended you and your Queen and how might I ask forgiveness?"

It seemed a stupid thing to say, but with sight failing...what would be the point in stumbling terror? Surely, reason could be soon or a provision found.

Agave was astonished when the mare failed to run. He had to admit that he had secretly hoped that she would - it was true that bringing her back to his mother would almost certainly clear his name, prove that he wasn't sneaking around working against her and yet...he did not want to subject this mare to the horrors of life on the mountain.

But she had not run, there was no choice in the matter now, no way that he could claim she had escaped him. Instead he would take the chance she gave him to clear his name and then..try to forget about her, as he did all the others he had wounded or captured in his time as his mother's pawn.

"All who wander into the shadow of the mountain come under the domain of my Queen" He told her in a tone which said that she ought to know that already. As for her question about forgiveness well. "You can ask her yourself mare" He told her in a matter of fact voice "No doubt she will take great joy in listening to your excuses. Are you going to come quietly or will I have to force you?" He demanded, raising his head to give her a powerful stare. If she wasn't going to run then he at least hoped she would come quietly so that he wouldn't have to hurt her.

Tethys kept the shiver from escaping. She had come onto someone's land, someone who thought or was a Queen. She would not run, her eyes wouldn't help her here--she's be powerless a few miles away.

Squaring her shoulders, she spoke in a calm clear voice, that surprised even herself. "I'll go of my own accord. I hope that she will accept my apologies and my ignorance that this place was...anyone's."

In her heart, she knew this Queen whoever she was wouldn't accept it. She didn't seem the forgiving kind--not by the way this guard acted. But she'd had little time left to see--and she'd seen prison before, only then it was created by herself

Agave was secretly glad that the mare had agreed to come quietly. He could ill afford to let her see this however - doing so would only make her think twice about trying. He might not have worried so much if he knew the mare was going blind. "A wise decision" He told the mare before circling around to herd her towards the mountain.

"Come along then, no doubt it will be an enlightening conversation" He added with a bit of a weary sigh escaping before he could catch himself. Rounding up new slaves and trespassers was a common occurrence but not one that he had ever relished doing, though he pretended to enjoy it for safety's sake. It would be terrible if his mother ever caught on his true thoughts and feelings about what happened at the mountain - it would surely mean the death of him. Snorting he pushed such thoughts away, pulling himself up into a confident manner and reaching out to try and n** the mares hind quarters "Move along - she doesn't like to be kept waiting"

Tethys heeded his words, and tripped a little falling to the earth when he nipped at her backquarters. She scrapped up her legs, and she could feel the grit on her face and near her eyes. Shaking it off, she hurried back to her feet, widening her eyes but keeping them down to see better where she was going. She knew that by doing this she wouldnt' trip as much, but she'd also prevent herself from ever figuring out how to get out since she couldn't watch for markers.

She tried to think of what to say, of how to get out of this. But there was no way, so she kept her pace calmly but speedier than before. "Is it far?" Would she kill her? She paused for a moment considering what to say, "She won't let me go will she? Will it matter what I am?" She wondered if he knew about her blindness--if she needed to hide the weakness or use it. Would it aid her or get her killed if it was known?

She had to play a dangerous line until she knew what to do. She needed to not be obvious either way until she found out.

The way the mare stumbled made Agave wonder for a few moments, was something amiss with her? Sweeping his eyes over her form he could see no injury that would explain the trip..perhaps he had just startled her in some manner. "That is not for me to say." Agave told her "One can never be sure what she will do." Although he knew without really thinking about it that the answer was no, she wouldn't let the mare go - she would either use her as a slave or feed her to the spiders..but Agave needed the mare, he needed to bring home some proof of his loyalty and a new slave would work well - if we went an admit that the mare stood no chance then she might start to resist and Agave just..didn't want to deal with that at the moment. No it was best to give her a shred of hope and keep her complacent.

"What you are? You are a mare...unicorn of some sort by the looks of you." Unicorn and something else, though he couldn't quite place a finger on it. None the less if she could heal with that horn of her's she would be valuable and he was banking on that. Healers were always worthwhile having around - and it would make this capture worth so very much more.

She considered his words, as she moved through the blurry forest. "Kirin. I share an affinity for water though. It calls to me," she let her voice fade. She could tell that he was lying, but there was no point in running things would just end worse.

There had to be other opportunities, she would find them when they came. Until then, she had to be alert. "Is it far?" She asked gently, "What is this place that she is Queen of? I wasn't aware anyone was here or I would not have intruded." She let out a slight mournful sigh.

She had wanted adventure, but she'd never expected it to be quite like this. But she could do it, she knew that. She would go wherever it lead her instead of waiting in the shadows as she had been doing.

Water, now why did she have to go and mention that? That just made him think of Aquitaine and a pang in his chest reminded him of how very upset she would be if she could see what he was doing now. Such was life however and he hardened his heart against any further emotional intrusion. He had no choice, it was the mare or him and Agave vastly preferred that it be the mare. "Yes well I"m afraid there is not much water up on the mountain" He told her in a harsh voice - perhaps a bit harsher then necessary but he was attempting to be cruel and stern as he was supposed to be.

"Not too far, Everything cast in the shadow of the Mountain is my Queen's land and all who pass through it belong to her, I will take you to the Mountain and there she will judge what is to become of you." He told her and then before he could think it through he added "I advise you not to make disparaging comments about the spiders" Now why had he told her that? He wasn't supposed to be helping her out, he was supposed to be capturing her as a token of his loyalty and saving his own skin.

She watched his eyes flicker, and the words about not to talk badly of the spiders. She closed her eyes again tightly, she had strained them enough already to see his eyes. They were spiders...Spiders....

She couldn't help the shiver that caused, she couldn't contain it as she thought of what that could mean to her. They were spiders...How was that even possible? She'd heard of soq having all kinds of deformities or mutations, but she'd never seen anything like this.

She, Tethys, had landed in a spider kingdom. Was there many more? Or was it just the two? The Queen didn't sound like someone who let many live past her borders if they came unheeded. What would she say to her? How would she make it so that she wouldn't be killed? How would she convince her that she should live?

Agave could see that the other mare was thinking over what he had advised her and he let her as they continued along in silence, at least she wasn't fighting him. It made things just a little bit easier though he was quite sure that he would regret this decision privately later on.

"Hurry along now, she doesn't like to be kept waiting." He finally stated, breaking the silence only to usher the mare along as fast as he could, the quicker he delivered her to his mother the faster he could forget about her...or so he was thinking. In truth he knew that he would likely think about this mare for quite some time, she would haunt him - and it wouldn't be entirely her fault. If he ever saw Aquitaine again he knew for a fact that he could never tell of her of this mare and what he had done to her, it would upset the blue mare to know that he had taken another captive because of her actions. No Aquitaine could never know...but then there was a good chance he would never see her again so he supposed it didn't really matter. Except to him.

Tethys stumbled over some roots as she moved along with him. She had so many questions she wanted to ask, so many questions that she needed answers to or at least it felt that way...But she didn't know what would happen if she asked him.

So far he had been kind except for the whole taking-her-hostage thing, what if she asked him something and it pushed him over the edge? What if he got angry with her? She didn't know the type of stallion he was even if she wanted to assume the best of him. It was her nature to do that, and i twas that nature that had often gotten her in trouble.

So she kept her mouth shut and walked along with him in silence as he lead her further towards this mysterious "she". Her mind worked on how to find out something more, until finally with her voice faltering she asked, "What should I call her?" She added on hastily, "I don't want to be disrespectful after all."

A name meant little to nothing, but it was a start to some sort of knowledge. A drop in the bucket of what she needed to know or rather wanted to know. But anything, any knowledge at all would give her some power and that was important. It was important to know something at least about her Captors. She didn't even know this stallions name.

To gain information though, she had to give some. "I'm Tethys."

This was certainly a clumsy mare Agave thought to himself as she stumbled yet again - did she never watch where she was going? It was really no wonder that she had wandered into trouble with such an unobservant personality. Still she seemed to be moving along as best she could so he attempted to keep from being impatient with her,

"She is called Pirata Noctis, but she is a Queen and you must address her as such until she instructs you otherwise. Your Majesty ought to do." Agave told her, though he was fairly certain that it would quickly be changed to 'Master' once the mare was seen. Pirata only let those pass who seemed likely to spread chaos, those who were like her...this mare did not seem to be anything like his mother and so he was certain she would be kept as a slave. She uttered her own name and Agave nodded to show that he had heard. There was no point in saying that his mother would likely change that too - names slaves came with were too heavily linked to their old lives..their freedom and so she liked to change them giving them names like 'Mud' or 'Bug' so that they might start to identify with their new place in society...or so she had explained to him.

"We are getting closer now. Remember to be respectful and fear not the Mountain guards they will not challenge me." He stated simply as the dirt beneath their feet started to give way to stone.
