Please post this in thread for your free ticket: Just keep swimming!!! Swimming On a world as connected to and covered with water as Ofeliaguilar it was not surprising that the water based events would be some of the most popular. The breathtakingly beautiful and massive pools houses stretched wide with two pools in each allowing for multiple races at once.. The water is crisp and clear, refreshingly welcoming to those lucky enough to jump into it. Between heats competitors await their turns in the small nearby warming pools or chatting amongst their fellow knights. Races of different lengths, styles, and numbers of competitors slowly whittle down the competition adding more and more to the excited roar and atmosphere of the events.

Just keep swimming!!! Quote: This was the event Shalott had been waiting for though she wasn't one of the water knights from Neptune. She'd grown up in the rivers and lakes of Earth, swimming like a fish and finding some measure of freedom in the clear depths she found. Her partner knew well of these trips and never complained, only sighed his resignation and waited while she had her fill. It was remarkable exercise and she could cut through open water without trouble.
Swimming for speed was another matter. She'd never competed before and there was no guarantee that love alone for something would aid her in this. It certainly couldn't hurt her chances nor could all the time she spent swimming even at a leisurely pace. It built up her strength, conditioned her muscles, allowed her to swim long distances under water without coming up for air which would help her at the start.
She had her hair tucked away so it wouldn't drag in the water and looked across the pool at everyone opposite the competitors watching, waiting. Hushed anticipation was everywhere. Everyone was waiting for the starter's pistol. She sank inside herself as she'd done before, trying to focus on nothing but the water, certainly not the other competitors. It was just her in the lake with Camelot watching her with a bemused expression from the shore. She'd push herself harder than she'd ever swum in her life. She'd find her perfect stride and bring that with her, flipping at the end to push off and start for the other side. She'd see herself reaching her goal, being triumphant. If visualization was the actual race she'd have it in the bag.
The pistol sounded and she leapt, diving under and using her powerful legs to push her along beneath the water. The race had begun.

Just keep swimming!!! Quote: Solo: Aria, page of Cosmos - 372 words When they had mentioned ‘warming pools’, Aria had been all up in that. She settled nicely into a little spot in one of the pools, chatting and laughing with her fellow knights while she awaited her turn again in this competition. More importantly, she evaluated that competition around her. Were the girls sleek enough? Were the men toned enough that they could handle this pressure? MOST importantly, did they look better than her: Aria the page of Cosmos? Aria couldn’t help it, really. She couldn’t help it that she looked this good. Immediately her thoughts came to a halt. Her mentor had always warned her about her vanity. It would get the best of her one of these days. Knights are supposed to be, blah blah blah, perfect world, peace and love, chivalrous, et cetera, et cetera... The page allowed herself a scowl before breathing out a sigh. It was so hard sometimes to remember all of that! She didn’t have much more time to reflect on how naughty she was, however. When they called her name, she tucked a loose curl back under her cap, smiled at the other knights that had accompanied her, and headed for the pool. Now was her time to shine - and in her case, quite literally. Aria edged up to the pool and glanced each way to the other contenders. Some had been her warming pool mates just minutes before, others had advanced along with her. She smiled as she thought of how she’d leave them all behind. The whistle blew, and she was off like a dart underneath the crisp water. It felt so good to be here. It felt so good pumping her arms, just swimming in this magnificent pool of heaven. For a moment, she forgot that she was here to win and to prove herself a capable knight. All that mattered was the comfort that she felt, the peace within herself as she tagged the other side of the pool and pushed off to race to the other side. Once she finished, she wasn’t sure how she did. For once, she didn’t care. She just went back to the warming pools, wearing a blissful smile that she hadn’t felt in ages.

Just keep swimming!!!
--------------------------------------------------
He used to love swimming but that seemed a life time ago, even if it really was only a few years. Alkanet could remember, though distant, how he used to swim in a lake for hours at a time. He’d swim until he looked like a prune, his fair skin all wrinkled, and than lay himself out under the warm sun to dry. He used to enjoy such simple things while growing up. But those days were over, long over he felt, but that long remembered love for water was still there and like a siren’s call the swimming competition had called to him. It was like some poor sailor that he’d answered the call. Could he even still swim? Could he keep himself afloat or would he sink like a stone? His mind was an utter mess as he prepared himself, trying to calm his nervous mind; he kept mentally assuring himself that all would be well. Surely no one would let a knight drown, right?
Watching others ready themselves the knight made his way to the pool where others gathered and waited, preparing, for the race to start. Rather than a long race he’d opted for something short, he really didn’t want to find out he couldn’t swim anymore the hard way. He also didn’t want to sign up for something long and not be able to at least finish it, how embarrassing to his planet and his princess would that be? No, he didn’t want to embarrass either. Though he wasn’t here just for pride in his home planet, although that was a big reason, he was here to get away from home for a short while and to have some fun.
While some took a lap, or laps, back and forth in the pool the fair featured knight settled for stretching his arms and legs in various ways. As the last person doing warm up laps exited the pool he found himself taking his place amongst the other lined up knights as he readied himself. For once he was paying attention to a man with a microphone as the announcer told them to ready themselves.
When the gun went off Alkanet dove in, silently sending a prayer to his princess as he entered the water.

Just keep swimming!!! Sutai Swim Solo (alteration go go go!) Oh boy, now they'd done it. Polaris was an icy world with no real swimming to be done unless it was a special occasion and indoors. The old man Sutai had always wanted to participate in the swimming events, if only just to show he still had a little vigor left in these bones. Heck, he wanted to see what the younger kids would do if they were beaten by an older man! Walking into the indoor pool area, Sutai had a towel colored like his princess' gown wrapped about his waist. While he was older, he still had quite a bit of muscle. That mountain doesn't climb its own five thousand steps every day! The water smelled fantastic and the old coot took a seat next to some of the younger competitors. It looked to him like it was segregated by gender, not by age. So be it! A bit of stretching and then maybe a few warm-up laps and that should do it. He stretched and looked around, eying how excited some of the younger pages and squires were. It was refreshing to see so much youth, and so happy too! They reminded him of home when he wasn’t on his mountain, meditating about the ins and outs of the universe. He’d entered into some of the shorter races and more endurance-based heats. Sutai had no idea how well he’d do or how long he’d be able to keep up his stamina. If swimming had been anything like walking up flights upon flights of stone steps, well… the Polaris Page figured he’d do reasonably well. Some of the other competitors had those silly caps on their heads to hold back hair. He sighed. Sutai happened to like his stringy locks but… they tended to weigh one down in the water. He slapped it on and stuffed all those annoying stragglers back under the cap. Eventually he’d actually have to compete. The page of Polaris yawned and stood, stripped off his towel to go have a swim in the warm-up pool. A nearby young lady shrieked and blushed, turning away from him. Sutai looked down. So what if he was an older guy in an itty bitty mankini? He grunted and walked past her, smiling. (word count: 376)
