Lithia (8:37:29 PM): Camelot knew better than to be out on patrol so soon after breaking his arm. Or any time with his arm still broken. Yet he did so any way, numerous times, and here he was again. The broken arm was his shield arm, and he needed to use his weaker one to defend himself now. It was strange, but not impossible, and he kept telling himself it was a good way for him to train himself in a new way, to make him stronger all around. But as he felt the youma slam into his shield and the impact send a shudder through his body, he wondered if he was right. He looked at it helplessly, backed up against the wall of an alley. It was not the largest thing he had ever faced, but it was strong and he was at a disadvantage. His crystal would not help very much, and he was conserving it anyway. "Damn it, just let me hit you!" he yelled at the beast, as it ducked under his sloppy swing yet again.
Lu the Forcinator (8:43:08 PM): Meanwhile, one Sutai Page of Polaris was utterly oblivious. She skipped along carrying a small package of specially-cooked food just for Mr. Camelot. She hadn't seen him a great long time and wanted to catch up with him, to tell him how she'd grown stronger! She'd met her princess, traveled to the moon, tried fighting a bit more... Knight stuff was hard work but she was trying her best! Surely Camelot would be proud of her? Sutai was still learning how to sense people, but the knight of earth was a strong presence on her radar. She skipped happily in his direction.
Until she saw the youma.
The ice princess page squeaked in alarm, seeing poor Camelot in this disadvantaged position. She had to do something! "Mister Camelot! Stay there! I'll save you!" Huffing and puffing, she managed to slither out of the youma's grasp and come to a stop in front of the staggered knight of earth. "Now you can't be all beat up like... MISTER CAMELOT did you break your arm!? Oh my god!" Youma came second to an injured knight!
Lithia (8:50:35 PM): Camelot was slouched against the wall, his shield raised and his body behind it. He leaned down, watching the youma from behind the item, then looked at Sutai as she entered the scene. He was surprised, to say the least, but not ungrateful for her arrival. She was different, he could see that, and he smiled at her very briefly. The youma saw her, too. When she reached him he knew he was in trouble. She was not going to like that he was fighting with an injury. Just as the thought entered his head, she was yelling at him. "Ah, well. Yes and no. It is broken, but I did not break it." Not personally, anyway. Someone else did that. He moved to straighten up, to defend himself. And her. "Focus! We have a youma to destroy first! Don't worry about me!"
Lu the Forcinator (8:58:06 PM): Sutai sputtered, indignant, embarrassed and most of all fearful for Camelot's safety. She shoved the lovingly-wrapped sack of delicious goodies down Camelot's shirt and whipped out her telescope like it was something impressive. Sutai tried to put on her best scary face and wielded her tiny telescope like a club. The youma was hideous, scary and her knees shook a little, but Camelot broke his arm! And he was out fighting youma! With a broken arm! She couldn't believe it. The page of Polaris would have to drag him around by the ear later.
"Um... DIE MR. YOUMA! Please. PLEASE DIE. Quietly!" The dark-skinned girl then closed her eyes, walked forward slowly and swung her telescope in every way she could, hoping to at least scare the youma away. "Please please please die!"
Lithia (9:09:41 PM): Camelot looked at his shirt and then used his bad arm to shield the food she put in it. He frowned at her, but he was slightly amused. He watched her as she attacked the youma with, what was to him, a new weapon. She managed to hit the youma a few times, and Camelot moved to aid her. He swung his shield with his weaker arm and managed to land a hit as well. The youma burst into dust, and Camelot looked immediately relieved. He grinned at her in victory, then moved to take the food from his shirt. "What's all this?" he asked, careful not to disturb the wrappings more than they had been already. He imagined she would smack him with that telescope with renewed vigor if he managed to drop it. In the back of his mind, he wondered why such a weak youma was out on its own, but surely there was nothing to be worried about.
Lu the Forcinator (9:18:29 PM): She panted. And paced. And wondered how she managed to hold her own against a youma and not cry, or koala all over poor broken-arm-Camelot, but however it happened... it happened. The side of good had won again and the city was safe from another horrid monster. But there was still something on Sutai's mind that needed to be addressed immediately. With a whirl of crystals and outfit-that-should-have-been-on-an-ice-skater, the Polaris page leveled a glare at Camelot that could peel paint.
"MISTER Camelot." she started, voice mimicking her own mother's when she was in deep s**t. "YOU should not be out and about with a BROKEN arm trying to save the day when many other able-bodied people can handle it just fine! You should be ashamed of yourself! What would have happened if I didn't show up? You could have been really hurt and then I would be sad and your family would be sad and your friends would be sad! Now you SIT down!"
And then Sutai snapped up the food sack from the knight and was about to start force-feeding him like the bad little boy he was being.
Lithia (9:25:27 PM): Camelot stared at her as she spoke to him in a very stern tone. It was like being told off by a teacher, or his parents. He looked chastized and shrunken, sinking into himself. He looked down at her feet, even scuffing them against the floor a bit. "I... well... I'm ashamed of it now... that you put it in those terms..." he looked sheepish and sounded it, shaking his head slowly. "I could have handled it just fine, I was doing well enough before you arrived and- ok." He sat down as ordered, fearing her as if he thought she was going to do more than yell at him. Send him to his room without supper? He let her take the food, holding up his hands in a show of defenselessness. He looked up at her, and then he grinned at her after a moment. "We're being silly. You did very well! You are stronger now, and your outfit is charming! Thank you for coming to my aid." He made to stand up. "I really do appreciate it."
Lu the Forcinator (9:32:58 PM): "Nope nope nope nope!" the page retorted and patted him on the shoulder. "You're injured! We gotta take you something safe so you can rest and I can feed you and clean you up and tuck you into bed before you go sneaking off again." SIGH. Men. Mama was really right when she said they needed constant supervision and were always getting themselves into trouble. "You know, your wife would be so upset if she knew about this! ....if you have a wife, that is! If you don't have a wife well then... you can't go impressing ladies with a broken arm!" ANOTHER SIGH.
Gently helping him up, Sutai sought for a safe place for him to lie down and be catered to like a good knight should. "Camelot, do you think we could go to your house and you can rest there? If you live by yourself, that is. I don't think Mama would like me showing up with a full grown man that isn't my husband!" She tittered and giggled to herself, back to normal. "Still! I need to feed you and make sure you're okay! You need to rest, Mister Camelot!"
Lithia (8:09:05 PM): The Knight of Earth couldn't believe he was being treated like a child. What was more, he was acting like one. But she was so good at yelling at him and he was caught in his guilt, he had no escape. he looked at her helplessly, his confidence from before wavering a bit as she absolutely refused to be deterred. "My fiance," he corrected with a grin. She would yell at him, too, of course, but that he could handle. Wait, why could he handle that but not this? He sighed, feeling trapped and a bubbly kind of energy making him want to bounce back and forth, or just run for the nearest escape, stirring in his gut. "I can get myself home, honestly, you don't have to fret so much! I really appreciate it, but I don't... I don't want to get you in trouble! If anyone saw us and got the wrong impression, they might... ah... give you a bad reputation." He frowned, tilting his head to the side. He grinned after a moment, unable to hold a serious expression. "But you're right, I should probably rest but... ah... there is a bit more of my patrol route left..."
Lu the Forcinator (8:14:29 PM): Sutai sputtered and gently whapped Camelot on the shoulder. "No! No more patroling for you, young man! You're in big trouble, being out here all by yourself with a broken arm and an empty stomach. Your fiance would be so upset if she knew you'd pushed yourself like this. She obviously loves you if you're engaged so you have to think of others too, you know! Don't be so selfish, Mister Camelot!" The dark skinned page pulled the knight in the direction she thought his home might be. After all, he kept edging in that direction, Surely he was tired and clearly he was in need of rest and feeding! Poor boy didn't know what he'd gotten himself into!
"And nobody will get the wrong impression. I'm the school derp and besides, you're old enough to be my papa!" she said with a giggle and gleefully ignored any sort of implication their being together might prompt. "My Mama would be so proud of me to know I helped out someone in need! And Papa would be proud too but he would say," and her voice dropped low to mimic her father's gruff tone, "a real man knows when he's supposed to quit, when things are too tough because his family at home needs him more than his pride!" Sutai giggled again. "Papa says that a lot to his workers. He's an engineer and a lot of his workers push themselves too hard and forget they have families to go home to. LIKE SOMEONE I KNOW."
Glareglareglare.
Lithia (8:31:37 PM): Camelot looked at her with his mouth gaping over. She HIT him? That did not seem right. Why would she hit him? And how did she knew his stomach was empty? It did grumble, but surely she couldn't hear that. He couldn't help but smile though, thinking her fairly adorable for her pushy concern about him. He patted her on the shoulder lightly. He did wince a bit as she told him off, as he knew he should be more careful about caring for his loved ones and bearing them in mind when he made stupid decisions. Shalott would be furious that she was not invited to come along with him, and when they powered down? He'd be in the dog house. Which would suck, because he had corgi and they were very small. He let her lead him, since they were heading toward his home. He wasn't concerned about her knowing where he lived, because he trusted his fellow knights beyond a doubt. They were his family, his friends. "I don't think your father likes me very much, then. But he raises a very good point, and so do you. I promise, I will never do this again. Certainly not when I might get caught," he added that last bit under his breath, but he had a good natured expression on his face. He knew she just cared a bit... exuberantly. But he didn't want her going out of her way to take care of him. Behind them, a shadow moved and, oddly, began to follow.
Lu the Forcinator (8:42:14 PM): "You better not do this again or... or..." Sutai whipped around to face her knight in shining armor, eyeballs wibbling like dinner plates full of liquid. "...or I'll cry!" Sniffles started for a moment before she wiped them again. "You're the knight who helped awaken me and saved my butt from monsters! You gotta keep yourself safe so you can keep protecting the rest of Destiny City! We're counting on you!"
The page didn't see anything of the black shadow behind them and paid no attention. She just wanted Camelot home and safe and fed so his family would stop worrying about him. So she could stop worrying about him. He was the strongest knight she knew about and seeing him injured made her more worried than she'd normally be. "Besides, you have to be around when I get my first upgrade and do all that other knightly stuff you and Mister Babylon talked about, like the rings and wonders and all that other stuff!"
Lithia (9:06:43 PM): Camelot looked at her and he knew he had no hope of fighting against her. He moved to put his arm around Sutai, hugging her to him comfortingly. "You don't have to worry about me so much. But I promise, I won't come out and fight on my own, when I'm injured, any more. Okay?" It was a promise he would have to make, anyway, once his fiance found out what he was doing. And he could see how much it upset his friends. He was being selfish, even while he was trying to be a white knight. He was going to say something more, but something slammed into the back of his neck. He made a strange, garbled sound before he fell forward and slammed into the pavement, a youma clinging to his back. He was stunned, but not unconscious, his eyes already fluttering as he struggled to get himself back up. The youma hissed at Sutai and leaped at her, heavy fisted arms swinging for her.
Lu the Forcinator (9:14:20 PM): The hug was warm and very much welcomed, but the attack afterwords? Not so much. Sutai shrieked when her knight in shining armor faceplanted into the concrete. The fledgling page didn't expect that, least of all since they destroyed the other youma! Where did this one come from?! Shrieking again, Sutai pulled out her telescope and swung wildly like a baseball player on speed, hoping to try and knock the youma off of Camelot. It lunged at her and she fell backwards trying to crawl away.
Wait, I can't leave Camelot! But... but I don't have any magic or any lasers...! What am I gonna do?!
Sniffling, trying to keep the tears from flowing, the page of Polaris stood on wobbly knees and tried to threaten the beast. "No! You leave... you leave Camelot alone! He's.... he's a super nice guy and you're just playing dirty tricks! Super dirty!"
Lithia (9:55:01 PM): Camelot groaned as he got his hands under him, though he was sharply reminded that his arm was broken and he needed to be a bit more careful. He groaned in pain, looking up to see the youma standing near.It was focused on Sutai, though, and was not going to be put off by a little telescope. It did smash the youma in the side of the head and make it totter to the side, which gave Camelot enough space to get to his feet with some effort. The youma leaped at Sutai again, swinging its fists and trying to bring her down with a flurry of punches. Camelot rubbed the back of his head, then turned in time to see the youma leap on Sutai. "No! No!" He yelled, panicked for a moment that the sweet knight was going to be injured. He rushed over and grabbed the youma, pulling it away from Sutai and following the motion with a hard punch to its face. It sprawled backwards, and Camelot looked at Sutai, gripping her shoulder as concern colored his expression. "Are you alright?" he asked, looking her over. "Are you hurt?"
Lu the Forcinator (7:03:58 PM): She didn't expect such an assault and was more concerned about Camelot than she was about herself. Sutai didn't notice the trickles of blood on the front of her uniform. The youma managed to graze her chest and shoulders with its claws. While the wound was superficial, tears still sprang to her eyes. "Camelot! Camelot, are you okay? The youma, he... he hit you really hard and your arm's already broken..." Sutai fell into hysterical sobbing, hoping beyond hope that Camelot was okay. That youma hit him hard!
