[→]Brief Biography:
[»] Before the Five Nations had been formed, the ninja world was scarred by constant war. This unending war was fueled by feuding clans and the desire for power. Thousands of small families were lost among the flames of battle or were assimilated to become part of the clans that ruled them. Although the damage to the land cut deep, alliances and organizations were founded to alleviate the loss of life. Steps were taken to build towns, villages and cities. Eventually, the strongest clans settled permanently. Those settlements became known as Hidden Villages. The most organized of these settlements was known as Konohagakure, "The Village Hidden in the Leaf." Structures of politics and economy were needed. One person, along with a group of their most trusted advisers would lead the their village in attempts to create a prosperous future. This is the story of Konoha's Hokage; Her name is Riiko Murakami.
Riiko was born in early spring under parents Kimi and Rikotsu Murakami on the banks of the River Country. She was delivered hastily, for there had been reports of the Kaguya clan's shinobi sighted within the country's borders. The moment Kimi went into labor, the northeast section of the tiny village's settlement was attacked. Rikotsu and his men fought valiantly, but the unit was soon defeated, leaving a wounded Rikotsu and heavily fatigued Kimi to flee the River Country by raft. The Murakami family was now reduced to three members, one of which was fading quickly. The raft soon landed on what is now known today as the Tea Country. Father Rikotsu managed to pull his wife's vessel ashore before collapsing himself. Within an hour, word of the Murakami's advent reached a nearby clan of fierce swordsmen. The men fell upon the Murakami's only to find Rikotsu, dead from his wounds, and Kimi in a terrible state herself. A group of the soldiers laid Rikotsu to rest while his wife and daughter were taken to their stronghold, a fort containing 700 men strong. Kimi was returned to health and Riiko grew stronger with each passing day. The clan that took them in were a hearty, strong people. They gave Kimi strength when it seemed that she had none. The last remaining two members of the Murakami family lived for an astonishing 3 years with the warrior clan.
When it seemed like the family would be safe and sound, a string of violent storms hit the Tea Country, taking a large number of the fort's inhabitants as well as Riiko's mother. The child was now the last member of her family, and the clan of swordsmen recognized that. The head of the clan took it upon himself to train the girl in the art of combat when she reached the appropriate age. "I will not let this world snuff out the last Murakami, this I promise!" The old man was kind, but stern in his method of teaching. He did not ease his tone or spare his rod even if the child was a female. His rigorous training proved to make the girl strong, and in time, she was picking fist fights with all the boys in her age group... Most of them she won! The art of the sword followed next, and despite her fear of using a blade, the chief soon won her over, spending the next 10 years training her in the art of the blade. Upon reaching fifteen years of age, Riiko was sent on her first task as a swordsmen. "There are members of the Fūma clan that do not know their bounds! We will push them from our borders tonight!" The battle of Fallen Eve stretched well into the following morning, it's result proven that Riiko had indeed learned well. The Fūma were pushed back, and even after that, Riiko assisted the war chief in winning more lands for their clan. Years passed and enemies fell underfoot as Riiko became one of the strongest swordsmen in the clan. Blood and death became second nature, Riiko's passion was bathed in it. After a day's battle, the war chief told Riiko "Keep that fire burning strong! It carries your spirit, gives your fight, makes you stronger than a mortal man could ever hope to be! From the embers of your great flame, other fires can be born in the hearts of men! Hold fast to your will! Burn strong, Riiko!"
By age 24, Riiko and the war chief conquered the entire space of land that is now known as the Fire Country. After the war chief was killed during a battle to claim a minimal territory, the desire to gain more land withered away. The warriors looked to Riiko for guidance. She was now their leader, and at her word they would sacrifice themselves. "We're done. We have our land. Let's build it up." Riiko united the clan of swordsmen along with 12 other large clans to form the Hidden Leaf. Under the leadership of Hokage Riiko and the other clan heads, Konoha began it's history. So continues Riiko's tale, and the legend of the Will of Fire.
