Melvin had locked himself in the boy's bathroom ever since Saliva exited the pod. She couldn't be here, and the fact she was just waltzing about nearly had him wanting to cram her back into the pen, but that would involving actually TOUCHING her and it was pushing it when he had to hold her as a weapon. As a walking worm shadow, his limits were passed. The only solution was to keep away from all the shadows and go someplace that he could lock, and the closet option had been the bathroom.
It certainly brought back memories of when he had panic attacks in high school, and he managed to get his breath as he listened for anyone or anything. After a while, he dared to open the door and then washed his hands for no other reason than it feeling appropriate. Then he splashed some water on his face and the back of his neck and dried himself off.
Once he was sure he couldn't hear anything, he slowly made his way out of the bathroom, looking around and quickly moving as softly as he could to head back to the dorms. This would blow over. He wasn't paid to watch over his weapon or be anywhere near it. They could wrangle her back when this whole test was done. It was underhanded that they even did this in the first place.

"And what IS there to do on this island when you're not shooting me at things?" Izy asked the hunter he still had tucked tightly into his side--he was being an a**, and he knew it, but this chance wouldn't last long before he was stuck back in her head--and shorter. Much shorter.
"I'm afraid there isn't much to do," Syd admitted. "Unless you want to go into the towns and--"
"Fight the insanity creatures--which goes right back to the question of what is there to DO on this island when you're not shooting me at things! Really, darkling, by now you should have at least TRIED to get a social life outside of playing poker man--"
"Pokemon," she said. "Hello, Melvin, what a pleasure to see someone other than my weapon!" And she honestly meant it. "How have you been doing with this... change?"

Melvin turned when he saw what he could only describe as a bird demon man walking his way, holding Sydney closely by his side as they walked down the hallway. Now she could have either been taken hostage or they were buddies, but either way he wasn't saving her. In fact, when he heard them, he tried walking a bit faster and not making any direct eye contact.
This did not work well as the ....THING came alongside, and he jumped back, curling away from the weapon and stared at it. "Fine! Fine. Just waiting for this to end." He started to move away, edging away from the demon. Gross. Gross. Gross. EwEwEw!

She looked at him curiously, seeing the problem, then looked up at Izy. "Izy, would you please give us a little time?" she asked her weapon.
Izy was staring at the hunter in front of them, not looking very impressed. "Really, darkling, you tried explaining this to him earlier--"
"Izy," she said again. It took a few moments for the tall incubus demon to pull away, moving a few feet away from the hunters and blatantly pouting as he leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Melvin, it's okay," she said to the other hunter, moving forward. "This is just a golem. They're what we use to go into the Halloween world--have you ever seen the movie Avatar?" she asked.

Melvin's eyes didn't leave the incubus, and he only slightly glanced at Sydney as she tried to explain. "No. I haven't seen it, and I don't know what a golem is. This is a horrible experiment and a bad idea. THEY shouldn't be walking around here." To which he pointed at her weapon. "I don't care how hard up everyone is on their weapons, they should have stayed a tool." It was bad enough when he had to touch his weapon. Now they were walking about. What sort of institution was this anyways?!
Then he looked to her and somewhat shied away from her as well.

She paused, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Yes, I can see how you'd feel that way," she decided. "All of us had difficulties in our past when it comes to their kind--and considering the missions we've been on, especially the horseman mission you were on, your hatred is fully justified. But unfortunately, in order to keep ourselves safe, we need to make sure our weapons are in working order."
As far as she could tell, this was what the situation was about, right? Plus, five hundred dollars--not that she mentioned that.
"Coward," Izy muttered. Syd shot him a dark look, but it had been said. And unlike the usual cracks, it had been said aloud. "Really, terrified of fake bodies made of dirt and FEAR. Toys."

He glared back at the demon. "I'm sorry. Humans are talking. How about you mind your place." He looked back at Sydney, crossed his arms about his chest, not only because he was aggravated, but because he was uncomfortable with being in the same hallway as this thing.
"Working conditions and maintenance I can understand, but they should be hooked up in a room somewhere. Not running about." Better yet, in a cage or glass case. Somewhere where they couldn't breath in the same area as everyone else. This entire facility was just crawling with whatever filth they collected now.

Well... how was she supposed to deal with this? She could practically feel Izy's outrage, and he wasn't even in her head--ah, that was it!
"But even if they're running around right now, don't you find it a relief to have your thoughts as your own? You should look at the positive aspects of this situation--I notice that your weapon is nowhere to be seen, I'm sure she's found something to occupy herself with. Isn't it much more... peaceful without her?"
She lifted a hand behind her back, stopping Izy before he could say what she knew he was about to say.

"They're running around now. I might be free for them for a time from my mind, but they're now everywhere causing a mess. I'm fine with the lack of noise in my head.." He gestured to his skull. "...but standing there isn't a great alternative. It's like letting a pack of wild dogs run around. Don't you think there is going to be a lot of mess around afterwards?"
He glanced back at Izy. "He should be tied to a pole out back."

The look that comment got was murderous. The tall golem took a step forward, his wings flaring out and sparking dangerously. "I'll tie you out to a pole--" "IZY!" Syd snapped, stepping in front of her weapon. "I understand your... irritation--both of you," she said, glancing back at Melvin. "But these are NOT the creatures in Halloween. These are our partners. Izy has saved my life more times than I can count. He is not an animal that should be tied out on a pole. And Izy, Melvin is a young recruit--his first experience with Halloween creatures was the Horsemen's Lair. You can't blame him for hating Halloween as much as he does, when you consider that." Izy still stared at the annoying hunter, his gold eyes cold with loathing. But a smile pulled at his lips, looking almost real if you weren't looking at his eyes. "Of course, Darkling," he said lightly. "I rather hate the horsemen, myself."

Melvin stepped back when Izy approached, disliking the very idea of him being near him. It made his spine crawl, and he gripped his arms about himself a bit more tightly as he regarded the creature. "Partners or not, even if they protect you, they are just elevated to the tools they represent. That doesn't give them the right to run around as if they own the place, and they shouldn't be given the impression that it's fine. It might have saved your life, but that's it's job. Don't sprinkle it with the idea that it did so out of the bottom of it's heart." IF they even had a heart. He hadn't had a chance to ask the lab techs if there were any anatomy studies on these sort of creatures. It would be interesting to see.
The idea he was considered "young" around here was a bit laughable considering he was in his twenties and he met plenty of people younger than him, but he didn't feel his opinion should be disregarded on being the new guy. The way people regarded their weapons just felt wrong to him.

She turned to look at Melvin, letting out a long sigh. "I see," she said. And that's all she really could say, for the moment, because there was obviously no changing his mind in the situation--especially with Izy's blatant hatred of the man. His actions weren't helping the situation--no, this wasn't an action, this was a reaction. Melvin's actions were the problem. But just like Izy, she got the feeling that Melvin wasn't going to change any time soon.
"Izy, if you would go back to our room?" she asked the weapon.
"I would rather not."
She turned, looking at him with a bland expression. He scoffed and left, muttering something about "good riddance."

Melvin watched the weapon huff and walk away. "He is rather well trained. Bet that took a while." The weapon had a temper, one he could see taking some time to work through to get him to do anything. For weapons who were once stone, they had a lot of pride.
He looked back to her, relaxing as he uncrossed his arms. It wasn't here anymore, and there was no reason for him to feel nauseous now. "I don't think it's safe for you to let it hang on you. It could be carrying something. It's not human, and I don't think the lazy techs back there would care to give us any health warnings about these....prototypes." He didn't exactly know the word for what they were.

"Melvin, those aren't their real bodies," Syd said, wondering what he would think if he knew how much she actually adored her weapon. She decided to keep that fact to herself--it would probably shock him, but she knew without a doubt that Izy would have never stopped that easily if he didn't love her. "They're created in the labs--I'm positive that they aren't carrying any sort of disease or germ because of that." Inwardly she was headdesking, because she was starting to feel sorry for his weapon again. "I really doubt this weapons as golems situation will last too long," she added.

'Then why would we need golems of our weapons, or even make them? There really doesn't seem to be any reason testing going on. I see no reason to have them walking around. Seems better to have them as weapons than wandering around here, though everyone seems rather overjoyed by the idea." It just seemed wrong considering they were on a task force to kill similar creatures, and yet there was this strange love of them here as well. It wasn't translating or making any sense to him.
"I can only hope what you say is true and this doesn't last long." Who knew what Saliva was up to, but it was nice to not hear her in his head.
