Her body still ached and there were sizable bruises scattered around not to mention and unfortunate black eye. Narisa's head felt like it constantly hurt from her exhaustion and the overwhelming stress she was feeling. There was just so much that had changed, was changing, in too short a time.

Malvren had fallen.

Trine was now the only Weyr those of Benden and Malvren really had to turn to.

And it was crowded. Really...really...crowded. Tempers seemed to be burning still and pain was causing everyone to be snappish, fights breaking out all too often. The Goldrider wasn't sure if it was wise for her to be dealing with some of the situations, but they would inevitably come to her anyways. If things got too out of hand. And right now, the Queen rider's were stretched too thin. Abigail was awake. Brakiath was calming down. But Narisa had not had the chance to get a full report on her Weyrwoman's condition. And, their Benden Gold pair Narisa had heard Kindra was still pretty beat up as well.

Sighing inwardly, the usually easygoing rider crossed her arms and glared at the men she stood before. They were still arguing. "Enough!" She pinned each of them with a hard look. "Don't be idiots. This is not the time to let petty things get under your skin. We're all sharding in this and we're going to sharding get through it. Together. It doesn't matter what Weyr we are from! We're dragonriders. One in the same." She closed her eyes and rubbed at her temple. "Go. Cool your heads and don't make me have to step in for a second time." Narisa opened her eyes to glare at each man in turn before turning away and sitting heavily.

You're doing well, mine. But don't stretch yourself too thin. Cepheith hummed softly in her mind, the gold herself sunning by the lake while her rider handled Important Stuff.

D'lin had come upon the scene just in time to see Narisa turn away as the men she had chastised stomped off. He didn't really have to ask to take a guess at what had happened - it was an entirely to familiar sight lately, and it didn't look like it was going to get any better in the foreseeable future either. At least not until they expanded to add more huts..and that wasn't going to happen until the old buildings had been repaired.

There was a lot of work to do. Almost so much that half the time when he woke up in the morning these last few days he hadn't even known where to start. It was quite daunting - and if it was daunting for him then he couldn't begin to imagine how daunting it would have to be for the Gold riders. By the look of Narisa however...he could take a wild guess. Angling his route he came to a stop beside her "Hard day?" He asked with an encouraging smile and a sympathetic tone. "Anything I can do to help?"

Plexith - who was currently jealously guarding his bowl beside D'lin's hut from the encroachment of over crowded dragons - By sprawling out in it - seemed to be momentarily distracted when he realized who his rider was speaking with and hummed with approval.

Narisa looked up, slightly startled and for a moment afraid it was someone come to bring her yet another fight to deal with. But her features relaxed into something warmer, tired smile spreading along her lips. "Not any harder than the previous." She admitted, glancing at the bronzerider to make sure he was alright. He'd been knocked around pretty good too, after all. His question sparked an immediate protest, but Narisa paused, thinking over it. "Some company that doesn't involve putting rider's in their place would be very much welcomed."

She rose to her feet again, stretching and running a hand through her hair. The Goldrider was pretty sure she didn't have time for such pleasantries as taking a break. But, maybe D'lin could accompany her on her rounds of taking stock on injuries, estimates on structural rebuilding, and....shards, too many things that it made her head spin.

"I've got a few things that still need some checking on, but if you're available, I'd be happy to have you come along." She smiled, feeling a pleasant swirl of approval from her dragon, who was now paying more attention. And felt bored all on her own. So, naturally, she casually rose from her sunning spot and prowled along until she spotted the familiar bronze.

Plexith. You are doing well, I hope? There was also a hint of amusement as she surveyed the sprawled out bronze.

Unlike Narisa whose injuries - thanks to the black eye - were a sight easier to spot, most of D'lin's were pleasantly covered with clothing..or hair. Anyone deciding to prod, bump into or otherwise jostle him too severely however would get an idea of how sore he still was. But his somewhat normal outward appearance, as long as he kept his flight jacket on let him seem healed and strong - something that he had found useful in breaking up the spats taking place around the Weyr. People were a little less willing to risk getting into a fight with someone healthy looking, especially a rather large someone. But his head still hurt from time to time and at the end of the day he was as stiff and wretched as the rest of them.

"Of course, I was just doing a walk about - keeping the peace and and all that, giving my Wing a bit of a break before I gather them up for the next round of 'salvage what we can' out of the rubble. I'd love some company that's not spoiling for a fight" He told her. Clean up crews were pretty much the norm for anyone healthy enough to take part in them lately.

Rising his head as the gold approached Plexith blinked at her in sleepy pleasure. 'Quite well' Te bronze replied 'But better now that I have such excellent company' He went on. He was rather glad that Cepheith had been the gold to come and visit - that other one, the Benden gold..she was bit on the cranky side. Always fussing at him for something or another. Picking himself up a bit Plexith shifted so that Cepheith could make herself comfortable as well if she wished too.

She ran a hand through her hair again, a stressed gesture she'd recently been doing a lot of. If the world was perfect and she could have whatever she wanted, Narisa would be passed out in a nice cozy bed somewhere. But that was only in her dreams right now. And her sharding eye throbbed. As did her back. And her head. And...hrnng. Everything. She was sincerely happy to see - at least outwardly - that D'lin looked to be alright. Though she figured he was still recovering, just like her.

A small laugh, tired but a real laugh, met his response. "That seems to be all we do lately." Narisa glanced towards the still retreating figure of the man she'd been talking to. Thankfully, he hadn't decided to stop and pick another fight. "How's...your Wing doing?" She asked hesitantly. It was always hard inquiring about people at this time. They were missing many people, and had more trickling in at a steady rate.

"Perfect!" She smiled. "We can keep one another from completely losing our minds." She teased lightly, only half joking. It wouldn't surprise her if they did lose their minds after all was said and done.

Cepheith gave a soft croon of thanks, appreciating the comment. She was finding she rather liked this bronzes company. I am glad to give you such...excellent company. She chuckled, eyes a tired but mellow blue. Not wishing to miss out on a chance to snuggle with another dragon, Cepheith stepped forward after Plexith had settled again and slid down next to him, a heavy sigh emitting at being able to relax a little.

"It will pass eventually...we'll get things cleaned up, the refugee riders will settle in, people will get to know one another, start to see each other as who they are and not which Weyr they came from. My mother used to say that time heals all wounds eventually...and I think she was right, we just have to deal with life as best we can until time does it's thing I suppose" D'lin commented as he watched her run a hand through her hair for the second time since he had spotted her. It did not take a genius to see that she was under a lot of stress but he wasn't entirely sure what he could do to help ease it at the moment. He had a feeling that there really wasn't much he could do other then offer her what help he could.

"The wing is ... recovering..we're not at full strength but if I can get them all to rest sufficiently I think we'll be alright to fly the next threadfall. I need to speak with the Wingleaders from the other Weyrs..we've never flown together, I'd like to have a game plan in place before the fall actually arrives or we'll all show up and end up arguing over whose running things." He told the gold rider, sharing some of his own frets. Most people were focusing on the rebuilding but D'lin was also trying to figure out how things would continue on for the future. He was however somewhat happy for the change to a more light hearted subject and took to is readily.

"Plexith will tell you that it's already too late for me, he maintains that I loose my mind every time I don't agree with him" D'lin stated with a straight face and a solemn tone while he gave Narisa a mock critical once over. "I think maybe your mind is salvageable though"

If it was possible for Plexith to look any prouder at his current predicament then it would be a miracle but he wasn't going to apologize for the vain arch of his neck..any dragon ought to be proud to be seen next to Golden Cepheith. And she was sharing his wallow. And there were no other bronzes around to come by and steal his thunder. It was turning out to be a grand afternoon indeed! 'As well you should be, one would be hard pressed to find better' The bronze slyly teased back, his tone joking as he left the comment open ended. Was he talking about himself or her? He'd let her decide for herself. In any case it was all in good fun.

'You seem tired, has yours been run as ragged lately as mine?' He inquired after a few moments.

"I sincerely hope so." Narisa murmured, glad to have someone like D'lin on her side. Where some of the weyrfolk seemed sharding determined not to think of themselves as a 'Them' and instead 'one' or the 'other', Narisa herself felt they all needed to grow up. Put differences aside and work together as one weyr. Not three crowded into one! "I believe she was right too. I just...hope we can survive that long." The goldrider glanced around them with a sad expression. "Time...it's...I don't know, I just...feel like it's not on our side." Narisa admitted quietly, sharing a little of how she felt with someone she considered a friend.

She chewed on her lip - a habit she definitely didn't need - and, with a small gesture, started walking slowly with the bronzerider while they spoke. And she almost stumbled as the realization that she hadn't even bothered to think about Thread hit home. Oh Faranth! What...could they handle it? When was the next Fall supposed to occur?! Did they even have any idea? Shards, they would need to get a list from the Healers on what supplies they needed the most. And there was still the head woman to gather food tallies from. Checking the damage to their herds for the dragons. Facing the definite possibility of having to trade and barter with the Northern Weyrs....

Narisa closed her eyes, shoulders slumping. There was just...so much. Not that she was doing it all alone. But they were running themselves thin. And as she was a perfect example, many had probably forgotten about the threat of Thread!

And then D'lin pulled a laugh out of her. Completely unexpected and it surprised her how...nice it felt to laugh. "I dunno...I may have lost whatever chance I had of maybe being salvageable." She teased.

Cepheith didn't really mind the pride Plexith radiated. She was not a vain creature herself, but she did enjoy how much the bronze seemed to enjoy having her company. It made her laugh softly, a sweet rumbling sound as she tilted her head to glance up at him from where her head rested against her forelegs. Well it's a good thing I've found such an excellent dragon as you to keep me company. The gold replied playfully, butting her snout against his shoulder like a tease.

I am afraid so. She pushes herself to thin, trying to do her best for everyone. I do not believe we've had a decent night's rest either. And snuggling next to a handsome bronze like Plexith was quite fantastic right now.

"We will" D'lin stated with determination 'Riders have survived plagues and thread and hard times before...we are just as strong as the riders in the past" They had to survive..where would Pern be without their riders. The Handlers might have dragons on their side but as far as he knew they had none that could breed and continue the species. Of course no one had managed to get a full consensus of who and where the missing riders were quite yet. He had no desire to bring that up however.

Though it looked like he had managed to rattle her anyways - he had meant to assure her that they would be able to handle the fall even if they still had a few things to iron out about it, not make her more worried but her reaction to his statement made him realize that he had achieved quite the opposite. At least he then managed to make her laugh which was am improvement. "Well. Then you'll have to join me in the lost cause camp I'm afraid, our general goal is to drive our dragons crazy with..and I'm going to quote Plexith here 'Our illogical and confusing human antics' " He told her in an effort to try and keep the conversation light.

He had a lot he wanted to discuss with her of course, things like attending a meeting of the Wingleaders, organizing the ground support for the next thread fall..and well he was sure there was more if he thought about it. But Narisa didn't need to have that sort of conversation right now, she needed to relax a bit. Those conversations could wait until later on.

Plexith rumbled in satisfaction as Cepheith praised him, ruffling his wings slightly at her playful nudge and leaning against her briefly in reply before lowering his head to rest it on his own forelegs. He could tell that she was tired, everyone was tired lately. 'I know the feeling' Plexith sympathized 'Mine has been rushing about here and there as well. It is important to rest just as it is important to get things done but I think some may have lost track of that'

She dearly hoped so. Narisa wasn't sure if they could survive any heavier losses than they already had. But, he was right in one thing. They were strong. Whether the riders believed it or not, the fact Trine still stood and offered them a Sanctuary was proof of that. There was hope, if only the tiniest bit of hope, for dragonkind to rise again and retake what was lost. If...they could all get along with one another.

Though she was still very much thinking about what he'd said before, Narisa was so very thankful for the lighter talk. The goldrider couldn't remember the last time she had really laughed like that. So many things always seemed to occupy her mind. "Oh I think I can easily accomplish that goal." She snickered, smiling more as a warm and slightly indignant feeling washed around her. "We might be the best suited to be pro at that!"

You are confusing. And I don't believe we dragons shall ever understand you. Cepheith said airily, snorting in amusement.

"Say, D'lin..?" Narisa asked hesitantly as they maneuvered around the Weyr grounds, the expression on her face a sign she was choosing her words. "Do you...think N'mol and Kindra will be a good pair of riders to put our faith in?" She liked the other goldrider so far. And truthfully, enjoyed having another goldrider similar to her own age. But...shards, she hated herself for thinking it. And knew it was bad for a junior weyrwoman to think that during rough times. Benden has started problems before... She sighed, lowering her gaze a little shamefully. "Forgive me. I...I know I shouldn't think like this, but..." Maybe she was just that exhausted.

The gold sent warm feelings of appreciation to the bronze. She hummed quietly, happy to have another dragon to lay with. We should clearly lock ours up for a few hours so they sleep. Cepheith mused lazily. At least they seem to be good company for one another? It was always nice to have someone you could talk with.

"I have the feeling that there very little you can't accomplish if you put your mind to it" D'lin told her with a sincere smile as they continued along. He could tell by the way she seemed suddenly distracted that she was thinking about something. D'lin was patient enough to wait until she had worked it out in her own mind. When she did speak well..he couldn't say he was entirely surprised, it was probably something that a lot of them had thought about in the last little while. Given the betrayal from the handlers well..it was easy to look at everyone else around you and start to wonder if you could trust them..or if they were going to turn against you as well.

"Don't apologize" He told her, reaching out to grasp her shoulder and get her to stop, to turn around and look at him "I think we are all having thoughts like that lately" He stated truthfully "It's perfectly understandable..but to answer your question - I think they are upstanding sorts, N'mol is ambitious but he seems honorable and while Kindra is a bit on the uh.. temperamental side..she seems to be genuinely concerned about the future of her riders and the dragons. They both helped us keep Trine safe, I think we can trust them, I don't think that any of Bendens previous issues were their doing" He stated with conviction..and then added "Thats not to say however that they won't have some trouble adjusting..to the Atypicals and the way we do things. I'm sure it feels very strange to them."

'That sounds like a good idea to me..but humans are very small, they have a tendency to wiggle free when you try to keep them somewhere' The bronze stated with a sigh of mock exasperation - as though he had thought of this and attempted to do something like it before. He even made mock grasping motions with his claws to illustrate their slippery nature. 'I am glad they get along, it is nice to have someone to speak with when things are overwhelming' He agreed.

The smile she turned towards D'lin was warm and showed her appreciation. The light hearted talk had cleared her mind a little to allow for some of the more bothersome ones to crop up. But, as much as she didn't want to deal with some of them, Narisa, quite honestly, desperately wanted a second opinion and another outlook on the things plaguing her mind. And...she felt she could trust D'lin. Which allowed her to voice her concerns, and maybe some of her fears.

She was slightly startled by the hand on her shoulder, turning to look at D'lin with a somber expression. But she stopped and faced him, face falling a little. "But...what would they say if they knew...it was one of Trine's goldriders?" She asked softly, considering his words carefully as he answered her question. Shards, but her head was starting to hurt with all the thoughts swirling about. And the last thing they needed was someone taking offense because of something she was concerned about. Or having trouble working out clearly in her own mind. "I have noticed Kindra's...temperamental side. And that she does care greatly for what happens to her riders and the dragons." She hadn't spent much time with N'mol, but knew D'lin had and trusted his word there. "However...I..." Narisa glanced away for a moment, biting at her lower lip. When she looked back up at the bronzerider, it was easy to see she was beating herself up for even having these thoughts. "I...fear that they might...cause problems with how strongly they feel about remaining true to Benden. That they...won't be able to see past that and....I don't want to see anyone get hurt more than they already are."

She sighed, feeling bad to dump all of this on D'lin. He had enough on his mind! "I'm sorry." She murmured... again. "We've all got a lot to adjust to, it seems. And I hate not being able to trust someone so easily now."

Cepheith tilted her head to watch him impersonate grasping their rider's. She giggled, stretching her paw out to flex her claws. So I have observed. We shall just have to come up with another way to accomplish this then. She said thoughtfully, eyes an amused blue. Yes, I am glad as well. The gold paused, lifting her head slightly. Her rider was getting herself worked up. Again. Cepheith snorted. I say we knock them out. She added as a possibility.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 26, 2012 5:03 pm

"And do you think, that they themselves, haven't had thoughts very similar to yours? I'm sure that they have asked themselves questions just like this...because they are leaders and that's what leaders do. They consider the hard questions because they have to and anyone who gets angry at you for doing so should take a good long look at themselves and rethink their priorities." Of course they wanted everyone to get along - of course they knew that the riders needed each other to continue fighting thread and survive this little revolution but that didn't mean that once in a while less then pleasant thoughts started to make themselves known and that was just human nature.

"I'm worried about them taking the whole 'Benden Forever' standpoint a bit too far as well - I already promised to help take back Benden when the time comes, it's only fair since they helped us here...but I'm hoping that they start to relax a little bit once they've had more time to adjust and realize that we're not trying to strip them of who they are. I'm just not exactly sure yet how to go about doing that." He confessed with a slight shrug. "But..I wouldn't worry about them finding out what you think, I'm not going to share your thoughts and I doubt Cepheith is going to rat you out..so your probably safe" He assured her with a smile.

Plexith hummed soothingly as Cepheith snorted 'Mine is still with her - he won't let her get to upset' The bronze assured her, pausing briefly as though considering her suggestion 'Very well, lets gather up some rocks..we'll fly overhead and drop them on them..mine is going to be very upset when he wakes but he'll get over it' He stated with conviction and a straight face, as though he was seriously going to go and do it.

Narisa stared up at D'lin as he spoke. Shards, he was right. They had probably been thinking the same things as each of them. And asking similar questions regarding the other riders. I am...not functioning at my fullest. She admitted to herself, only to receive a firm rebuke from Cepheith. "You're right." She said quietly, regaining a small bit of her composure. There were just too many things for her to fall apart over something like how she felt! People would be relying on her for her strength and support. And...she had to do what she could. To help Abigail.

"As have I." Narisa murmured. She and Cepheith had promised to help their fellow gold pair regain their Weyr when the time came. But, what if their strong insistence of staying 'strong' and 'true' to their Weyr caused more fights to break out? More animosity between them all? "Perhaps there really isn't much we can do." She admitted, hating to say it. "Except trusting in one another. And continuing to hope everything works out for the best." It made her feel...a little better knowing she wasn't the only one that may have had such thoughts. And that D'lin wouldn't go about telling every person he passed how she felt. "Thanks, though I'm not sure if I feel completely reassured knowing Cepheith has to keep her trap shut."

Said gold dragon snorted, making sand puff out of the wallow. I'll have you know, I can keep secrets! She informed both riders, rumbling in dragon laughter at Plexith. Though her tone and emotions softened as she responded to him. Tell your rider thank you. And then her eyes lit up brightly, head lifting to regard the bronze. There was mischief in her eyes as she giggled, flexing her wings as if she would stand and take flight to take on this task. As marvelous as that idea is, I don't think I should be giving my rider any more of a headache. She might not wake. Which just meant they had to move on to the next option. Which involved some small wriggling from Cepheith as she curled up next to Plexith.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:18 pm

"I think that's about the only way we can deal with it, perhaps...if we show that we trust in them, then hopefully they will start to trust in us" Much as he wanted to come up with a way to make everyone get along and work together, some master plan that would fix it all instantly, there really wasn't any conceivable way to do so - nothing except letting them come to their own decisions on this matter would work. He just hoped that it didn't take to long and there wouldn't be any lasting consequences while they did so.

"But speaking of the other Weyrs and their Wingleaders, I want to call a meeting to organize how we are going to handle the Threadfalls. We can't have our wings in the air bumping into one another and leaving gaps in the coverage because we think another Weyr's wing is handling it. We need a single leader for each fall...I was hoping that you'd come? I was going to invite Kindra as well."

'Cepheith says thank you for keeping her calm' Plexith obediently relayed to his rider before turning his attention back to the gold beside him. 'True, they've had enough knocks about the head lately I suppose' The bronze responded. He had not yet forgotten the fear and worry that had gripped him when D'lin had been knocked unconscious. Cepheith's wiggling as she curled up however did much to bring him away from such thoughts - it was nice out, the wallow was comfortable and Cepheith was warm beside him. Ill thoughts should not be a part of this equation and sighing softly he laid his head down next to the gold, rumbling in pleasure. 'Well if they are too silly to take advantage and sleep when they have the chance, that dosen't mean we can't'

Wouldn't it be nice if things were that easy? Really, a small break couldn't possibly hurt, right?! Narisa mentally shook herself, giving D'lin a hesitant smile. "So we'll just have to be strong for them...and ourselves. We at least have one another to trust in supporting each other." Her smile broadened, growing much warmer. "I'm probably just worrying about more than I really need to." The goldrider admitted, hand raising to run through her hair before she caught the action and stared at her hand. Strong. They had to be strong. And couldn't lose faith in those they had trust in.

Narisa quietly nodded in agreement, thinking it a good idea. Though she was taken by mild surprise at him wanting her to come. As well as Kindra. But, she figured it made sense. Still... "I'd be honored to come and sit in on the meeting. Not sure how much...help I can be, but you can count on Cepheith and I to at least offer support." Her lips twitched. "Even if it's only morale support."

Cepheith chuckled lazily, cracking an eye open to look at Plexith again. Probably best we stick with something...simpler. Which she would think on later. Right now, she was feeling drowsy with such nice weather, a comfortable wallow, and Plexith. She snuggled down and heaved a sigh, quite content to stay where she was for a while. I believe you have the right of it! I'm sure if they really need us, they'll pester us. But until then? This was nice.
