Finally! Candace was asleep! It had taken Jack knew how long to carry her from the main headquarters to her own bedroom, a room she hadn't slept in for a long time because she didn't feel like carrying herself across the compound. Well! Now she didn't need to! Good ol' Atropos was here to take care of her now for however long this golem body lasted. She was more than happy to put her ghoul to bed, to hold her and talk to her until the huntress fell asleep.

And once she was asleep Atropos could go out and play without worrying about her master tiring herself out again. With a wide grin Atropos snuck out of the room on quiet feet, darting down the hall and creeping down the stairs. These hunters all had pockets. Lots of pockets and shiny things. It had been a long, long time since Atropos could have fun on her own. It was great to see Candace flourish at the things she had once been good at but it did get sad..now was her chance though. Let's see how many hunters carry their wallets with them...

She kept close to the wall as she reached the bottom of the stairs, peering around the corner to check if anyone was around.

Apparently, there were a certain number of kicks to the side that Wilson could take. At some point, the poor hunter just fell over and rolled around while groaning. Gramps lightly kicked him in the stomach at first, but eventually he remembered human bodies had weaker limits than Halloween creatures. Cue the catoblepas dragging the man by the hood of his jacket back toward the dorms. It was fortunate the death trainee didn’t choke by the time Gramps tossed him onto the bed and muttered something about nodding off before he slammed the door; the walls rattled.

After the shenanigans and abuse from being in the cafeteria, Gramps was ready to take it easy for a while. Maybe he would even try to lay low for the rest of this weapon check-up. If he could avoid those ankle biters and crazy vampire, that would be good. The weapon was still in the dorms. He decided to make himself comfortable in the common area. Since no one else was here, Gramps chose to take up the entire couch. A hand was behind his head and his eyes were closed. The other hand idly scratched his neck, nails running over the patches of green scales.

He sighed and continued to nap, his tail idly waving back and forth.

A sign of life! Atropos' eyes narrowed, a mischievous gleam in her eye as she stalked silently toward the couch she could see a tail swaying by. She gasped quietly when she realized who was on the couch, eyes widening again. Atropos grinned widely and dove behind the couch with as little noise as possible, tail wagging with glee as she sloooooowly peeked over the back of the couch.

....And then she promptly pulled herself up and over it, dropping herself unceremoniously onto the catoblepas trying to nap with a cheerful whoop. "It's Grumpy Gus~! I'd recognize my own kind anywhere~!"

Well, that's one way to say hello.

For a while, it had been peaceful, but now that peace was broken.

“What the Jack?!” he roared. The next sound to come out of his lips sounded a lot like a miffed buffalo.

Gramps’ brows were already knitted together when he looked up to glare at the weapon on top of him. “It’s not Grumpy Gus, it’s Dabir,” he hissed. “Don’t listen to my kiddo. It’s not Gramps. It’s Dabir.” His tail reached up to lightly whack the other catoblepas in the side. Despite the purple hair (and last time he checked, he was green), she was definitely a catoblepas. Scowling, he managed to get both of his hands onto her shoulders and tried to throw her to the floor. “Now off.”

Atropos cackled with laughter at the clear unhappiness coming from the weapon she had just flopped onto. She stretched out and made herself comfortable, grinning from ear to ear. "Okay, Dabir. I am Atropos, the best and greatest, whose master doesn't call her by any stupid names like Gramps~." Atropos announced, her tone and her words oozing with arrogance and amusement. He was so angry~! Ahaha!

"Well, Dabir it would appear I finally found you! I was very sad when you said you didn't want to hang out with meEE!" He hit her in the side and she swat back, eyes narrowed and lips pouting. Rude! She opened her mouth to scold him when he suddenly threw her off the couch and she landed in a heap on the floor, catching herself on her hands and knees. Oh, her face also broke her fall.

It's okay.

It's just, you know, her face.

Atropos sat up, scooting close to the couch and putting her head on the edge of the cushion beside Dabir. "Jerkface. Y'didn't have to throw me off, coulda asked like a normal person. Rude." The pout was soon replaced by a huge smile again as she sat up again. "This is so cool! It's been forever since I could walk around on my own!" Oh dear...it didn't seem Atropos was in any hurry to leave yet.

His eyes narrowed to slits at Atropos. “Not my fault the kiddo took my voice for a geezer’s.” But it wasn’t Wilson’s fault Gramps’ voice was so raspy and wheezy. Nearly a year and the hunter never picked up on the slightly youthful tone in his weapon’s yammering. The weapon snorted at her proclamation. “You really think you’re so keen? I beg to differ.”

Gramps grimaced when she smacked him back, but relieving himself of a heavy weight off his stomach was a relief. While she fell to the floor, he slowly sat up and stretched out his limbs. Going to the cafeteria had been a disaster, but it was still refreshing to be in an actual body he could move around, independent of his hunter. He wasn’t concerned in the slightest about her face. It actually made him chuckle.

“Guess I’m not a normal person, ditz.” He leaned back against the couch and scooted away from Atropos. “Yeah yeah, I’m sure it’s the same for everyone else.” Gramps paused and then shot her a tired look. “Are you going to buzz off or do I have to split?”

"I'm plenty keen. I'm the best." Atropos replied arrogantly, rolling her eyes and giving a snort when Dabir made it clear he didn't think she was as awesome as she was. Because clearly she's the best thing since awesome, yeah? Yeah she was.

This was so great. Sure, it was weird being away from Candace but her ghoul needed a nap. The idiot wasn't taking care of herself...though she seemed to be doing better with Atropos actually able to push her around. She fell quiet as her eyes turned up toward the ceiling in the general direction of Candace's room, almost completely missing Dabir's insult and the way he quickly moved away from her. Candace would be okay...she just needed someone to take care of her. Hm, but who would she listen to? Someone not that Jackdamn Doctor. She needed to distance herself from him. Atropos rubbed her chin, clearly scheming something. But what, Dabir? Your doom?

Yes. Totally.

"Yeah.." Atropos replied distractedly in regards to everyone else feeling the same way. "Not everyone seems to be getting along with their weapon, though. It's kind of sad...hey, do you know--what? No!" Atropos pouted and climbed onto the couch again, sitting beside Dabir. "Neither! This is, like, our only chance to talk to someone not our bonded! Don't you want to take advantage? When was the last time you could be with your own kind?" Her tail twitched with agitation. "I'm very persistent, boil. There's a reason my weapon form is made for legs."

Gramps stared at Atropos. He begged to differ.

He could have stood up and left the common area, maybe return to Wilson’s dorm or wander around the island—he knew the place just as well as Wilson (on a good day when his memory wasn’t faulty). But instead he continued to sit on the couch, sinking into the comfy cushions with his head turned away from the other catoblepas. There was silence on the other end of the conversation, prompting Gramps to glance at Atropos and suspiciously stare at her. She was thinking about something, and he had a feeling it wasn’t good.

“What? The kiddo is a swell boil.” Admittedly, Gramps hadn’t expected his hunter to be so weak to his kicks of love, but he had absolutely no intention of letting up. He quirked an eyebrow as she climbed back onto the couch so she could sit next to him. Gramps attempted to scoot all the way toward the edge of the seat. “After that hairy situation in the cafeteria? I’ve had enough fun for now.” He rubbed his temples when he recalled the two ankle biters and the horrible vampire.

“Is that so?” he sighed, unamused. “Fine, if anything’s on your mind, shoot away.” Gramps offhandedly waved at Atropos. “We’ll see how this goes.” He shot her a glare to say if she attempted anything fishy he wouldn't hesitate to skedaddle.

"Kiddo? That's so cute!" Atropos giggled, bouncing a bit in her seat. Hairy situation, eh? She tilted her head to one side, curious what he meant by it. She had been there a few times but each time it had been quiet and mostly empty aside from the occasional Hunter and their golem. She hadn't interacted with many other golems yet aside from briefly on twitter; Atropos would need to try and fix this issue before she was forced back into Candace's head with no one else but her beloved Hunter to speak to. It wasn't a terrible fate by any means but she did so love to have other beings to speak with. This would probably be her last chance..

Anything on her mind? Atropos actually looked startled for a moment. Uh...did she..? Um. She blinked. Uhhhh...well..

...Um..

Uhhhhhh...

"..Anything on your mind?" Atropos asked, blinking.

Gramps stared at Atropos with a blank expression. “What’s cute? I don’t understand you.” His eyes narrowed when he watched her lightly bounce in her seat. He attempted to casually slide even farther away from her. Her curious expression caused him to sigh and snap his head away from her while he muttered things under her breath, though she might have been able to catch snippets such as “Jacking ankle biters” and “I hate vampires.” Eventually, he quit his old man mutterings to warn her, “Don’t go to the cafeteria. Just don’t.”

For once, he actually cracked an amused smirk. “Nothing you’re itching to know?” He fell into silence and cocked his head to the side, his tail still idly moving left and right while he thought. “Your clan. What were they like?” Fuzzy memories or not, Gramps was pretty Jacking sure he was not related to this catoblepas. His lips pressed together before he tacked on as an afterthought, “And your…Candace. Tell me about her, I guess.” If he could get her to chatter on while he half-listened that would be preferable.
