The startled, strangled cry rang out through the facility from the men's bathroom, punctuated by several flushes and a wet gurgling. This continued for some time.

Ordinarily, strange bathroom noises were better ignored, but that yell had sounded unfortunately familiar. Jordan stuck his head cautiously through the door and called, "You all right in there?"
Ferros peered after him. "It did not sound like an all right kind of yell," he observed.

Another flush, the sound of scrambling limbs, and a bristling, pointed-eared head peered out from the stall, quills lining his shoulders and back as he gave the man a salute, "You're that Alpha-One f**. Yup, yup. All's right with the world now, no worries."
"S-STOP IT I S-Sbbblrbrbbblrbbblrbbbll-"

Jordan's eyebrows went up. "Roar, what are you doing to Jerry."
Ferros ducked carefully under the doorframe and moved over to the stall, where he took a handful of the tattery shirt Roar wore and dragged the howler backwards and out into the room. "You should not abuse your hunter," he said disapprovingly.

"Just somethin' I wish I coulda' done a year ag-HEY HEY HEY GERROFF!" The creature growled as he felt a massive metal hand clamp down on him. Struggling and flailing, quills useless against Ferros' armored skin, he resorted to a snarling growl as he tried to bite his way free.
Gasping, Jerry came staggering out of the stall, struggling to put his glasses back on and soaking wet from the shoulders up. "Ah... ah... th-thank you... I... J-jordan?" He blinked, wobbling on his feet before lurching to the other hunter, throwing his arms around him, "OH GOD OH GOD I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD OH GOD I AM SO HAPPY TO S-SEE YOU!"

"If for no other reason than that if you damage him it is your Fear being depleted," Ferros continued, and let Roar go, blinking thoughtfully at him. Steam puffed gently from the pipes that grew from his shoulderblades.
Jordan staggered slightly under the sudden hug, then returned it carefully, smiling a little. "No, they hauled me out of the hole I got tossed into and brought me home," he said.

"Hey hey hey, guy, I'm just puttin' him in his place. Not hurtin' him none." He huffed, eyes flashing green as he shrugged off the metal beast, brushing off his vest, "I mean, YOUR human at least aint..." He gestured with a clawed meaty hand, "That. Guy's got some demons in his head, he's got that goin' for him at least."
Perhaps it was the influx of everything, but Jerry had started sobbing as his emotions finally snapped. "I'm... I'm... I'm s-s-s-so.. so so glad... glad to see you...! F-first F-francis and then S-sasha and you and... and... and I was ... I didn't have... God..."
Roar groaned, "If it aint one thing it's another. I keep tryin' to tell him but he's like a delicate ********' flower."

"We think that has stability problems, but is a good human." Ferros tilted his head to one side. "Demons? You look more monster to me." He watched the humans interestedly. "Mine likes yours. But you know that already."
"Harrison said a lot of people got taken," Jordan said, and patted Jerry's back comfortingly. "It's okay, we're back." He didn't recognize the name Francis; maybe a new trainee.

"Hey. Hey. What happened to keepin' it together," Roar grumbled, grabbing Jerry by the back of his wet jumpsuit to haul him off of Jordan and up onto his wobbling feet. He gave his back a good firm slap. "Alpha wolf, remember."
"Awoowoo..." Jerry mumbled, still trying to gather his senses from Roar's very welcoming getting-to-know-you session.
"I meant metaphorically, bub." Roar wove a hand dismissively at the dragon, reaching up to pull down Jerry's hunter coat from where he had tossed it over the side of the stall, looking it over critically.
"W-wait-" Jerry mumbled but it was too late, the Howler had already started to pull the coat on. His larger girth made the thing tight, which wasn't the problem. What made the Human groan was the sound of ripping as his spines and bladed shoulders ripped through as he pulled it on and popped the collar.
"Now that's better."

"Alpha wolf?" Jordan's eyebrows arched, and he suppressed a smile.
"Metaphorically, five syllables," Ferros said. "Impressive."

"I know lotsa words," Roar huffed, "Good ones too." He gave the massive dragon a good smack to the back with a clang, "Like 'Lunch' and 'Gettin' some ********' Cider.'"
"A-alpha wolf it's- I don't know I think it's... a Howler thing," Jerry wobbled miserably as he watched his coat get ruined.

"Lunch does indeed sound like a good word," Ferros agreed. "I doubt they have my favorite, but my human should eat." The glow of his eyes shifted to aim a very pointed look at Jordan.
Jordan avoided the subject by getting a handful of paper towels to hand to Jerry. "Here, you can dry off some," he offered, feeling sort of awkward.

"Thanks," Jerry mumbled, feeling a bit surreal and numb, but accepted the paper towels all the same. "This... is exactly what we need," He hissed once Roar had bounded from the bathroom. He blotted at his hair but it didn't do much. "Do I just... turn him off? Will I get in trouble? Oh God I can't deal with this..."
He was relieved to have a moment with Jordan, though. "How... how are you? I mean... aside from... I mean... Sasha is..." He pursed his lips again, brows furrowed as he glanced over his friend in concern. "I.. I wanted to visit you earlier but um. You er.... had company. I didn't want to interrupt. Or um. Overwhelm."

"I have no idea," Jordan admitted. "I'm not even sure what the testing is accomplishing, aside driving half the island crazy. You'd - uh - probably better at least keep an eye on where he is." His expression went apologetic. "I'm sorry," he said. "I, uh. Didn't quite realize how aggressive he was."
Th question made him tense up. "I'm not - I'm okay," he said, a little defensively. "There were - they made me - nightmares," he explained, disjointed, and stuck his hands into his pockets to keep himself from fidgeting. "I'm okay. Glad I ran into you. Are you okay? Is Sasha?"
"I will go to the cafeteria," Ferros announced. "I will get you something to eat." He padded out in the same general direction that Roar had gone.

"Yeah he... he was opening up a little less... um... I mean he's always been a bit... I dn't really... talk about what he says it's all rather embarrassing but hopefully this will get things out of his system. Like a little vacation."
The topic changed and his gaze went back to Jordan, "Sasha is... as well as you are, I suppose," Jerry murmured quietly, his face still wrought with concern. "I... I know you um. Have your support group but... but if you need me you know my-" His hand went to his jump suit pocket and he frowned.
His phone was in his coat pocket. Roar's pocket.
"Oh, frick."
