Fell had heard many rumors buzzing around about a lot of things. Too many in fact, that she couldn't make sense of it all. She needed to get some information from someone who had a deeper connection to these things, unlike herself, who rarely saw the outside of the school grounds these days. Speaking of which--
"You know, I should be allowed to partake in those field trips like the others." She complained, eying her pact partner from the corner of her eye.
Like usual, Kingsbane had prevented her attending any, claiming that its for her own good and that it was just too risky.
:No.: A word he had become used to repeating. A word Fell was sick of hearing. :You know asss much asss I do that thossse field tripsss keep leading to danger. You can attend when you can actually hold your own in battle.:
Well great! When the hell would that be?
"But King! I'm missing out on things!" She complained, throwing her hands up in the air. "I bet Mei attended lots of school trips during her first year!" She tried to reason with him, but despite her efforts, the soul eater scoffed.
:And Mei had alssso recently gotten herssself kidnapped. You've heard the rumorsss ssspreading around. Ssshe'sss a year three ssstudent and wasss easssily taken out. Fighting sssomeone at your level? It would be asss easssy asss mowing over grasss. My answer isss ssstill no. Besssidesss that, why are we even here? You have a weeksss worth of homework and you have yet to even look at it!:
"Oh hush! I'll get to it, I promise." Which, everyone who knew the grim reaper, knew that her promises were empty. She didn't want to waste time on things that she deemed useless, she wanted to do something actually worth while.
Her frown only deepened as she knocked on the door, waiting for the broken doll, her best and first friend, to answer.

For the past few weeks, Mei had been devoted to finishing her school work, even taking on more than she had planned too before. Whether it was to do better in school, and prove herself as a dedicated student, or to get her mind off things, she hadn't decided yet. However, she was quite pleased with herself and her efforts. To think, when she first joined this academy, she was skipping class whenever she got the chance! Something she deeply regretted, as it definitely reflected on her grades back then.
The sound of voices bickering outside of her door drew her attention away from her notes, as she could barely concentrate. Fell and King.. she could always tell when they were about. Those two could find just about anything to argue about. Then again, if she was stuck in a pact with that sack of bones, Fell called a partner, than she supposed she too would be getting snippy.
Rising from her chair, the doll strode towards the door, waiting for that knock on the door she knew was bound to come. When it finally did, the ghoul snorted, pulling the door open to find the two on the other side. "You guys could be heard for miles, you know?" The comment was directed at both of them, but it was Kingsbane she had her attention on, as it was him she was blaming.
"What's up?"

Of course, the soul eater was quick to catch on to just who she was blaming. After all, she always did and despite the hollow sockets where his eyes should have been, he managed to give the broken doll a cross look.
:If you want sssome to accussse of wrong doingsss, why not blame the mindlesss one here. The same one who hasss still not touched her increasssing pile of homework.: He hissed in return, while Fell rolled her eyes.
"Its not that big." She decided to add on in her defense, arm crossed over her chest and gave the soul eater an equally sour look. "Besides, its not my fault. They keep heaping it on me! Why would I care about things like the types of foods humans eat and their speech patterns? Its enough to put someone to sleep!"
:And thatsss precisssely the attitude that preventsss you from finissshing it!:
There was a silent glare between the two, almost as though they were mentally communing with one another, but then it broke off and Fell was looking at Mei. "Mei, please. Can you help out with this? Its driving me insane!" Of course, her idea of help was getting rid of Kingsbane so she could have a moments peace. But what Mei more than likely heard was a cry of help for getting her homework done.

If there was an angry look from the sack of bones hovering in front of her, she didn't notice. That, or she just didn't care enough to pay attention. Though his argument of Fell pushing aside her homework was enough to make the doll agree with him for once.
From what it sounded like, Fell had not done a lick of homework in.. Jack only knows how long.. How did she expect to pass if she didn't do the work? What was worse, she could likely get suspended for this, or even expelled! No! She would not allow this to happen to her friend! She would make Fell do her work, even if she had to glue her to her seat!
"It is a big deal Fell! Trust me.." Ah, she knew from experience.. if you didn't do the work, it would definitely effect you in the long run. "How do you expect to pass your exam if you don't know how to answer the questions?" It might be boring work, sure, but that was a small sacrifice to pay if she wanted to get through this school.
Thankfully, it sounded as though the reaper was pleading for her to aid her in her homework! "Oh, of course I'll help you!" The doll smiled brightly at the reaper, gesturing for her to come in. "Come on King, she's your pact partner, so you have to share the burden of homework as well."

Fell was less than satisfied with Mei's response. "Oh come on Mei! Where have you ever used this stuff? I'm pretty sure I won't ever use it and I have a feeling that will be the case for the majority of it." Which happened to be the case with most things they handed out in class. "Its not like I plan on studying human behaviour when I grow up. Why can't they teach me something practical? Like combat and survival skills?" Was Fell whining? Yes. Yes she was. Though when Mei agreed to helping her, her face lit up. Just a second before it fell again.
"What? Why him?" She grabbed hold of the broken doll's sleeve and gave it a few quick tugs. "We're trying to get rid of him! ...Aren't we?" Then it dawned on her. Mei was planning on getting her to do her school work. Just as King had planned.
"Oh this is just fantastic!" The sarcasm was clear in her words. But anyone who knew Fell was probably used to it and more than likely, ignored it.

This was definitely sounding a lot like herself when she was just a snot. With a heavy sigh, Mei strode over to the reaper and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You might not need it in future, but you will need it to graduate, Fell. As far as human behavior goes, you just might need to study it, what with the hunters and all. And you can learn stuff like combat and survival skills, you just have to sign up for the classes. But, that doesn't mean you can get out of these ones either." She was going to make her do this work, even if she was kicking and screaming all the way through.
"Because-" She started, tugging her arm free of Fell's hold as she gestured for Kingsbane to hurry it on up so she could close the door, in case a certain reaper decided to make a run for it. Before she could explain it to her, Fell had already clued in on their little plan. "You guessed it. He's here to work with you. Your going to do your homework Fell, even if it kills you." With that, the doll gave the ghoul a psychotic smile and firmly pushed her down into the chair.
"You might not like it, but you will do it. All of it. Now." Now ifs, ands or buts, this was something the reaper would have to come to terms with.

"But I--but its--" She started, as Mei began to lecture her. She knew if the broken doll had caught wind of her lack of effort in her studies, that she would bring the hammer down on her. But a lecture?
"Aww Meeeiiii..." She groaned, but unfortunately for the grim reaper, the broken doll wasn't going to have any of it and closed the door before she could make a run for it. Pity that. Made her wish she had been born a ghost and could just phase through. "Fine, fine. I get it. Neither of you are going to stop are you?"
Now Mei might have received a look of approval from the soul eater and maybe even a hint of amusement as Fell took a seat at Mei's desk glumly. For once he was satisfied and even impressed with the broken doll.
"You so owe me after this." A ridiculous command, considering they were the one doing her a favour.

With Fell having finally given in, Mei shot King a look of approval for his constant nagging. Fell might be all annoyed and gloomy now, but she was sure that in the long run, she would be thanking the two of them for actually forcing her to work through it all.
"Darn right we won't." Grabbing some papers and a pencil, Mei handed them over to the reaper and pulled up a second chair.
"We'll see." She had half a mind to have King take up guard duty in case the reaper had any idea of breaking out of here. If she did, they would be sure to drag her back. "In any case, its going to be a long night, so get cracking."
