The sun was just touching the western mountains as a dark colored mare headed for home. It had been a good day, she had found a few herbs she had been missing and a few others she had yet to learn about. With her pouch full, fuller then normal with leaves sticking out past the flap, she was ready to lose the extra weight. Black twisted trees were the last blockade to the tunnel that lead home, but something was wrong. Normally there were many fireflies in the tunnel, but tonight it was dark. This worried the mare, was it already getting to that time of year again? No it didn't seem as such, it was still quite warm out.
Fear struck the mare as she dashed into the tunnel that was only illuminated by the dim glow of her horn. Something was terribly wrong, the silence was deafening and it made her on edge. Passing through the other end she came to her small cup like valley, everything seemed alright from where she stood, sides heaving from the sudden sprint in the dark. "Hello? Crue?" the mare called into the approaching darkness, hoping her mate would answer her.
Seconds turned into minutes and the silence still ruled the area. Ears flicking from side to side, Nightling headed towards the cave she shared with her mate, here she found the first signs of trouble. Her herbs were tossed, rather scattered across the ground and the earth was torn in places. What could have done this? Who else was here? Panic struck her like a kick to the side, worse then even then labor, Nightling pressed on to the cave. "Crue!?!" She shouted again to the silence, her heart thudding. She again waited for an answer, that would come from someone else.

Glowing green eyes surveyed the dark-pelted mare enter the cave. He stuck to the shadows as he observed her reaction to his work. What confused him though was the fact that she was calling for another individual. Had he missed something in the act of ruining her living area? Ah well, such things could be remedied later. Tsaheylu let a few minutes pass by as he counted down. It would do better for the mare to work herself into a panic before he made his grand reveal.
It was with a quiet, reserved pace that he edged out of the shadow that he'd hid his form in. He paused outside of the cave to savor the moment before gently scraping his hoof against the loose scree. The resulting noise was just as loud as he had hoped. It would definitely attract the mare's attention. He was sure of it.

The sounds of something scratching against the hard stone flooring of the cave made Nightling turn to face whatever was there. Something had come into her home, wrecked her work, possibly killed her mate. There were some answers needed here, stepping closer towards the sounds of the hoof, many thoughts raced through her head.
"Who's there? Show yourself!" Nighling said in a very out of character way. She'd never demand much of anyone, not even from her own mate of children, but her nerves were on edge here. "Did you wreck my home? Answer me!"
Eyes squinting against the growing darkness, she spotted something stamding just inside the entrance. Something, or someone with butterfly wings, but the tail looked all, wrong. Ears flicking back against her head, she marched over closer to the stranger. "Is this your doing? Stranger?"

Tsaheylu's measured steps took him out of the shadows and into the dying light. He faced the unicorn mare without seemingly any concern for his well-being. His flutter wings stirred up a soft breeze that surrounded him alone before he gave an eerie chuckle. "Such demands are not the best way to get answers ...hmm?" The way he spoke made it sound like he was posing a question when he was giving the mare a little warning. It wouldn't do well to prod the flames burning just under the surface.
"But I will be gracious enough to answer you this time. This is indeed my work. For you see that I've taken quite a liking to your little home. It would suit my needs perfectly as I plan to move into this little valley."
Tsaheylu shifted his bulk as he kept an eye on the mare. It would not do well to become distracted. The flames of hunger demanded that he attack but he kept the desire in check for the moment.

This stallion thought he could take over her, HER home? Glancing around at the many scattered herbs, ones that had been drying, others that had laid in neat piles ready for use. She was flustered as to just how this stallion even found her home. Eyes narrowing she stepped towards the intruder. "Well I'm going to have to ask you to leave, This is my home." lowering her head, she pointed her horn at the stallion. she was not about to let her home be taken by this stranger. No, she was going to fight for what was hers and her family's home.
There was a blaze of defiance in her eyes as Nightling stared this stranger down. She had yet to realize that he was a skinwalker. While not the same as the one she had 'raised' persay as she had paws and this one had hooves. All the same, she stood her ground before him and wasn't about to back out.
And she was not leaving!

Tsaheylu gave what might have passed as mirthful laughter to himself but it was more of a menacing chuckle to the mare's demand. He quite liked this little valley. It would make a nice place to return to every now and then. About to say something else to rile the mare Tsaheylu caught her lowering her horn. He made a 'tsking' sound before clearing his throat. The urge to attack the mare and rip her throat out coursed through his body. He tamped down on the feeling but only slightly.
"Now that isn't wise of you; threatening me that is. Unless you want to fight?" The skinwalker dropped the last word as a question. His wings slowly fanned the air around him; cooling himself with the breeze. He almost gave a nonchalant shrug of impatience. "Come now and save yourself the sting of defeat. I'm afraid that if you choose to fight that you won't like the outcome. Most of my opponents don't live too long after. I have a habit of attacking until they cannot defend themselves anymore ... if you can get my meaning."
With this he flashed a grin at the mare revealing the sharp canines he possessed. His tail curled lazily behind him as he felt another jolt of impatience. The need to shift into his other form was growing stronger. He'd do more damage that way in an upcoming fight.
