Ariane was actually planning her vacation in her head; she wanted to leave for it the moment the portals were accessible again, but after she went to visit Otto... She had to wonder what sort of horrors the hunters went through, when they went to raid the Horsemen's lair. After all, she had one experience with such lairs - when they went looking for weapon tablets in that one place - and it was a terrible experience.
There weren't even any Horsemen there... This one was filled with Horsemen. Possibly very angry, vengeful horsemen.
She sighed; there was no way she could leave for vacation right now... Not while there are still plenty of people recovering from that mission - physically and mentally - and not while Jeremy might be awakened from the pod any time now... After all, she heard that there were a fair number of causalities. This meant that they would need new hunters to "fill in the gaps".
Ahead, the door to the Minipet Labs came closer; as much as she did not like animals, feeding these minipets always calmed her down, and provide her with a temporary distraction; this was also where she first met Clarice almost a year ago, so maybe there was also some sort of nostalgia connected to it... Not that she would ever admit it.

With some time to kill, and no missions at this immediate moment, Kat found herself walking to the labs. It had been a while since she had taken this route, but the minipet were around here. Ever since Ariane had shown her the minipets, Kat had, on occasion, visited the minipets. Some of them were so feline, she figured it was the closest thing she was going to have for a cat. Unless of course, she somehow managed to smuggle a real cat into Deus. No..that probably wouldn't end well. Of course, she could always flee to Allan with the cat if she was ever found out. He was all for love and kokoro stuff, there was a chance that he would side with her..or something.
Loosing a sigh, she figured for now, minipets would have to do. Though..she would make a mental note to keep a distance from those creepy dolls that Ariane had showed her.
Passing a few hunters who were gossiping about the recent events, she realized that she had checked in on Ami. Though, after what she had been through, visitors might not be the thing for her at the moment. Either way, she would check on her when the time was right.
Stepping into the room, it was fairly quiet, save for a few lab techs in the area, as well as a familiar looking hunter. Smiling, Kat walked over and tapped Ariane lightly on the shoulder. "Hey Ariane! Its been a while."

Ariane was in the middle of staring at a minipet that looked like an ordinary rabbit, except for the fact that there were strange markings on its back, and it was carrying what appeared to be a miniature wristwatch; the tag in front of the cage read 'Dust Bunny White Hare'... It was almost as if someone took a white rabbit, and dressed them up.
To be honest, that was how she felt about most of the 'Halloween creatures' they had encountered so far... Especially those students from that school.
She was so absorbed in her own thoughts that she did not notice someone approaching her until she felt the tap on her shoulder. Turning around, she grinned when she realized who it was, "Kat, right? Yeah, it's been a while... Heh, didn't I bring you here when we met for the first time?" She came here often, sometimes alone, sometimes with someone else, so she could have been mistaken, "What brings you here today?"

Kat grinned when she remembered her name, nodding. "Yep." She held off a moment to gaze at the minipet Ariane had been looking at. To be truthful, she hadn't really paid much attention this one, or any of the others aside from the felines. Whenever she was in here, the cats got all her attention. Halloween creatures weren't quite the same as real animals, but these ones were still cute all the same. And if they had ears, tails and whiskers like a cat, they were perfect. Finally turning her attention back to Ariane, she continued. "Yeah, when I first arrived here. You took me on a tour around Deus. This just happened to be one of my favorite spots you showed me."
It made her wish that she had more time to visit the little critters. Hell, she would love to have a set up in her room for some if she could.
"I just had some spare time to kill, is all. Figured I might drop by and see how all the minipets were fairing. How about you? Its been a while since I've seen you around. You doing alright?"

"It's one of mine too," Ariane admitted with a laugh, turning away from Kat to look at the 'Dust Bunny' minipet again; she didn't like to say it, because minipets seemed so dumb and cutesy compared to the real dangers out there, but eh... Clarice obviously enjoys minipets as well as the 'Petting Zoo', but she's one of the most bad a** women on the island, and everyone knows it.
So minipets, in extension, are sort of bad a**.
"Same thing," She replied, "When I want to take it slow, I come here... Eh, I'm doing well enough-" The woman flashed Kat a grin, and then held both arms up, "-still alive, still got all my limbs intact. Can't complain."

Kat remembered her saying something similar when she first showed her this place, and she could definitely see why. In fact, she knew that a lot of hunters liked to frequent this place, not all for the same reasons, but anyways.. Bending over to get a better look at the critters, Kat lightly tapped the glass to get their attention. Watching with amusement, as some scurried around, while others simply stopped to stare. She definitely liked minipets.
When done with that, she straitened out to her full height, smiling.
"Well, I'm glad to see your still in one piece. Seems like hunters are getting picked off more often as of late. You've heard about Killzone, I presume..?" She didn't know him personally, but according to other hunters, he was a good guy. However, she had no idea if Ariane had any relation to the guy or not.

"Yeah, I have," Ariane replied, not quite sure how to feel about it; she did not know the man personally, but she had spent time in his relaxation cove when they were stuck living underground... Someone who cared enough to do such a thing must had been a pretty good person. Nobody else on the island seemed to care about comfort except their own.
Maybe it's really true that the nice ones usually go first. It's the only thing nice guys don't finish last at.
"Made me wish that I'd thanked him for making the island a little more comfortable, but eh... Also made me wonder if I'll actually feel sadder if I had known him personally," She admitted with a shrug, "Maybe that's why the boss doesn't have many friends." She was of course, referring to Caelius, since he was the head of the Death division.

Nodding at her response, she wasn't all that surprised that she had, really. Just about everyone of the island knew. Though, she was curious about the hunters away on missions, if they had any knowledge of what went down that day. It was possible that they might have heard already..at least if they were keeping tabs over radio com or something. Either way, there was not much that could be done about it now.
"Yeah..I guess that's the trouble of having friends in this line of work. Though, I don't know if I would feel any better if I didn't know them, and they died." Loosing a small sigh, she tapped at the glass on the minipet cage again, staring down at the minipets that stared back. "Caelius..?" She was guessing, what with her being in the death division and all. "Makes me wonder if he did have any friends, once upon a time. Its kind of hard to imagine him being all..friendly towards people."
Though, she supposed anything was possible.

"Depends on what you see as being the lesser of two evils, I guess," Ariane answered, choosing to look at the minipets than at Kat; she had always thought of herself as being more of a solitary person. That she would rather save herself than to risk her neck for someone else, except for a chosen few, but recently, she wasn't so sure... It was difficult to shut people out completely, especially after spending time with them.
"Yeah," She chuckled when Caelius' name was mentioned, her attention on Kat again, "Who knows? Maybe he used to be nice, or at least tolerable to be around, and just went psycho one day. Maybe he became like that from too much power," She laughed, "Then again, being a hunter can really drive you crazy sometimes."
After all, they are technically living in a war zone, deaths, fighting, and all.

Kat almost snorted when Ariane spoke of Caelius as she did. Trying to imagine Caelius as someone nice only made her think of the alternate universe they had been stuck in, thanks to Madea's trance. That fake Caelius--she would never be able to forget that. Ever.
"Yeah, I can definitely see how this job can put someone in the loony bin. But yeah..I don't think I'll ever understand Caelius and how he came to be the overlord of Deus. Maybe there is a psych profile on him somewhere..hmm."

"If you ever become overlord of Deus, or get a position of power, don't go crazy on us, alright? We need nicer people at the top. People who don't treat people like they're disposable," Ariane rolled her eyes, and then grinned, gently nudging the girl with her elbow, "So, is there a reason why I never saw you around for a period of time?"

To this, Kat only grinned. If she were in power, then all of Deus would likely go to hell. "Pray I never get a high position, I would likely not be suited for the job." Of course, Kat paled in comparison to Caelius when it came to being an overlord. "I'll likely be a foot soldier for life, anyways." And she was quite happy with this--taking orders, rather than giving them.
"Oh, uh..yeah. I was back in the pods for a few months."

"I think leading can be a chore," Ariane laughed, going quiet at the mention of pods. After the slight pause, she continued, looking thoughtful, "Someone I know was podded again as well. It's nice to know that waking up again isn't impossible."
She then prodded Kat on her arm, grinning at the female, "So, what did you do to get put back in?"
