Otto would be getting no rest for the next hour or so.
The prelude to the oncoming disaster was the sound of running footsteps echoing down the hallway, followed by the noise of someone's shoes skidding across the floor right in front of the infirmary. With no other warning, the door was suddenly thrown open with a crash, and a wide-eyed and slightly disheveled Eva stood there, panting. She seemed to be carrying a gift bag of sorts, but the object was promptly dropped the moment she saw the blond boy seated in the bed.
There was a blur as the girl zipped from the doorway to the boy's bedside, and then suddenly her arms were around his neck and her cheek was pressed against his. "Puppy! Otto! I'm so glad you're safe! Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Was she making this any worse for you?
"I made you cupcakes," She added suddenly, looking back the (hopefully not ruined) gift bag that sat by the doorway, "And I brought you some random things to read if you want to pass the time, but..."
Trailing off with a whimper (who was the puppy here?), she gave him another hug.

Otto sat up in bed, swaying side to side as he fought another bout of dizziness. He'd been getting quite a lot of visitors, but there was one visitor he'd been expecting that he hadn't seen yet. He wanted to stay awake in case she visited. If he was asleep, she might not come. Still, he could only stay awake for short bouts at a time.
And then a lot of noise startled him. The skidding drew his attention to the door. The door burst open, scaring the wits out of the boy. He yelped, clasping a hand over his mouth. He could see now that it was Eva, but ever since the time he spent in a Horsemen dungeon he was skittish. Very skittish.
He let his hand drop as she rushed him, inhaling sharply as he was soon enveloped into a tight hug. Eva style. Cheek squishes and all. Her concern made his heart start to beat rapidly. He didn't realize it until now, but he'd really missed her. "Um... I'm ok.." He murmured quietly, bewildered at the attention he was getting, his face flushing red. He wasn't sure if she'd scared him from the sudden touching or if he was just overwhelmed.
She brought cupcakes? For real? And reading material that wasn't Dakota's porn? Score.
He really didn't mind the hugs at all. He didn't even squirm. They made his nerves go haywire, sure, but despite it he soldiered on. "I like cupcakes." He said in a small voice.

Eva should have known better then the just bust in here like that--after all, hadn't she been rather skittish after her own experience with the horsemen?--but the fact that it was Otto had kind of made her forget all that. She was angry at herself for not having been able to do more, angry at the horsemen for what they did to him and the others, and...
...Relieved. Really, really relieved.
Thank god.
A little more cheek squishing, and then she drew back, lips spreading into a grin at his quiet response. A part of her wasn't sure what to make of his docile attitude--she had actually been expecting him to snap as her as usual when she bust into his room like that--but was safe, and that was all that matter right now. She moved back to retrieve the gift bag, plopping down into a seat beside Otto's bed.
"So, I brought you these," She pulled out a wrapped plate of cupcakes, setting it down on the bed beside the boy, "Some books--comics, and random novels, mostly--and...ahaha."
Looking a little sheepish, the girl pulled out what may have been a familiar looking plushie. "Remember this guy? I made him for you for Christmas, but considering the destruction of our rooms..." She made a face before laughing, "Well, I made you another one."
Okay, so it was just a plushie...but still! She set the puppy in Otto's lap and then sat back, her expression changing into one of worry. When she spoke, it was slightly softer than usual. "So...how are you doing?"

Otto stared at anything that was presented, his eyes following where the cakes were set. His gaze lingered on the presented plushie, softening as he realized she'd made it for him. He'd never really appreciated the first one as much as it deserved. His hands moved and held the little dog plush, staring intently at it.
Appearance wise, Otto looked pale and fatigued, but his gaze was clearly content. He liked this plush a lot. He rubbed his thumbs along the material it was made from and looked up to Eva again as she softly addressed him.
"Umm... okay I guess." Otto replied, his blue eyes shifting down. The drugs he was on made him docile, but the company he kept getting made him humble. "Kinda... stunned.. Alotta people been visitin'.. lot more than I thought I'd get..."

Otto's response earned a grin, and she reached out to give his hair a gentle ruffle. Just as he was being more docile, Eva seemed careful to be a lot more gentle with the boy...beyond her initial "burst through the door in a panic" thing, that was. Settling back into her seat, she emitted a little laugh.
"That's not all that surprising, is it?" She teased, "There are a lot of great people here, and you've made a couple of friends among them, right?" If there was one thing that kept Eva sane around this place, it was the people. Man, if they had all been uptight, anti-social jerks, or if she had been alone in this place...
Shaking the thoughts away, she gestured towards the cupcakes. "Try one and tell me what you think! I'm not the best baker, but uh...I'm pretty sure they taste fine." If one were to look carefully, they would find that the icing wasn't very even, and the "Get well soon" on some of them was pretty shaky...but she had tried.

Actually, it was surprising. Otto never realized he'd made friends in the time he'd been there. But he certainly knew now. More than anything he was just so happy he wasn't all alone, like in all of his nightmares.
He simply nodded softly in response to that.
His eyes drifted to the tray of cupcakes, unwrapping them and taking one. They looked... well sub par. But it was the thought that counted. Had he been his usual self, there'd have been a fair amount of teasing about their appearance. But Otto said nothing of it. He gingerly took a bite.
Sweet.
Heavenly.
Bliss.
Otto, as some might know, had a killer sweet tooth. No matter the quality, he was glad to have anything at all. After two weeks of illusions in a Horsemen Prison, you stopped being picky. The boy made a noise of approval, slowly eating away at the small confection. "It's good.." he said softly.

It was hard not to notice just how terrible the cupcakes looked once they were unwrapped but...oh well, it was too late to go back and try to fix them now. Besides, Eva had tried to fix the writing, with disastrous results--the strange, tye-dyed icing on one of the cupcakes was a testament of that. They still tasted pretty good though, right?
Apparently Otto thought so, which was a relief. A wide grin found its way over Eva's face again as she leaned forward to pat him on the head. "I'm glad! I put my love and care into those cupcakes, so they'll help you get better soon, okay?" Cupcakes actually probably weren't the best things to bring if she wanted him to get better--not physically, at least, since it was really just sugar--but it would help mentally, right? And sometimes that was the most important thing.
She still found docile Otto to be a little unusual, but she had to admit that he was pretty precious like this. She still missed the blond that she knew well though, even if that side of Otto usually involved a lot of yelling and complaining.
...Curious as to how he would react, Eva suddenly reached out and gently pinched his cheek.

Otto nodded softly, still nursing the cupcake slowly. In all likelihood he wouldn't finish it. His appetite was low. Very low. Mostly he just wanted to taste it.
His gaze lifted from staring at the oddly designed cupcake, sensing an incoming limb. He leaned away slightly until she reached his cheek, one eye closing in reaction. Why was she doing that? He felt like he was being treated like a five year old.
However, he was too tired to grump about it. She gave him cakes and comics. She could do just about whatever she wanted.

...No yelling? No flailing, or protesting, or sudden attempt to shove her away?
...
What did those horsemen do to her puppy?
Or maybe it was the drugs, but in either case, It was still pretty weird to see Otto acting like this. Lips pulled into a worried frown, she promptly squished her cheek against his again. "Do you want me to try and get you anything else, puppy? Something to drink? Some other food? A fluffier pillow?"

And there was Eva, in his personal space once more. Much like Molly and the others had been, she was certainly doting. He really didn't need more food. He could barely eat what he had.
However...
".....Fluffy pillow?" He asked curiously. Part of him wondered how far he could take this 'poor me' routine. Man.. he ought be sick more often! Only not really. All the attention was starting to really tire him out.

"Yeah! I mean, your pillow is looking a flat, so..." She whipped her head left and right before finally spotting a decent looking pillow sitting on one of the other infirmary beds. Moving over to snatch it up, she settled back into her chair beside Otto's and began to fluff it up. "See...like this...it'll be...more fluffy...and more comfortable...!"
She stuck her tongue out of the corner of her mouth as she shook the pillow out, setting it into her lap and giving it a few punches before turning her attention back to the boy. "Lean forward so that I can switch your pillows for you, okay? If it's not comfortable enough, I can fluff another pillow for you too."

Otto watched Eva as she moved about, busily stealing a pillow and returning to beat it up fluff it up. "Yer fussier than my damn mom." He muttered quietly, sitting up enough so she could take his pillow for him.
Did he mind the doting? Of course not. He rather liked it. It just took a bit of getting used to, after looking out for himself so long. And especially after... well.

Eva simply laughed, clearly taking no offense at the boy's words. On the contrary, the little bit of snark was a relief to see. Clutching the pillow under one arm, she reached out to ruffle his hair again, lips spread into a wide grin. "Oh, good. You still have a bit of attitude to you."
She swiped his pillow from him when he moved forward, quickly replacing it with the fluffier one. Looking proud of herself, the girl lightly pushed at Otto's shoulders, urging him to lie back down. "See? See? Isn't that nice?"

Tired, weak, but the attitude remained slightly intact at least. While normally after getting his hair ruffled he'd make an attempt to tame it, now he was just too out of it to try. He'd just have to deal with fluffy, askew hair for now.
He laid back down as she urged him to, smirking ever so lightly at her eagerness. It was hard not to. "Yeah, yeah. It's nice." He was kind of surprised her overly energetic self wasn't exhausting him already. Even on a good day she could make him tired, just by being herself. That usually translated into grumping.

Eva beamed with (unwarranted) pride, and if she had had a tail, it would have been wagging a mile a minute right now. "Ah ha! Seeeee, I told you!"
There was a moment of pause, and then she relaxed, settling back into her seat. "Well, I just stopped by to check on you and make sure that you're in one piece. I suppose that I should leave you to your rest now." Despite her words, however, she looked a little hesitant to get up and leave. At the very least, she could rest assured that the boy was safe and sound here in the infirmary, but...
"...Want me to tell you a bedtime story? Though I really only know the classic fairytales..."
