Flòraidh gazed at the stars in awe. Moonlight filtered through the canopy, and she gazed out from a hole in the trees to the dazzling night sky.
She had seen stars before, but on this night the heavens seemed to shine brighter than ever. If only Da could see this... she thought, then chided herself gently. Ach, the night sky's everywhere, is'it not? O'course he can see it... A gentle frown flickered across her features. Was the night sky always the same? Was she, here, looking up at a different sky than that her father saw if he was still awake?

She peered upwards, then trotted forwards a few steps and looked up again. Perhaps not far enough?
She cantered a little ways, carefully avoiding a fallen tree-limb as the night breezed played with her mane. She could see the moon now, and she gave a little gasp of delight.

The night sky changed with one's position, altered not by some ethereal force but by one's own movement. Or... could it be....
She cantered back from whence she came, the joy of youth lending a spring to her graceful step. She brought her face close to the ground and searched for her the faint prints of her cloven hooves, positioning herself carefully in her tracks as she looked upwards once more.
... if only ah could remember the formation of those last stars. It's all so pretty, only the moon gives those subtle changes away!

Her neck aching slightly from being flung upwards so often, she stretched, ruffling her wings and enjoying the feel of the cool night air. Her mind was hazy and she felt as if she needed sleep, but she was having too much fun to find a place to rest.

A cloud drifted across the moon as the dainty mare admired the wonders of the night.

Bright citrine eyes looked to the sky, a myriad of A-ni-no-qui-si (stars) blanked the dark cloth of the Di-ga-lv-la-di (heavens); the spirit of the Moon, Geyaguga, was almost to his full form, with only a few more nights left to pass before he shone with his entire glory. Adonvdo Nudade smiled to himself; he could never tire of staring up at the home of the U-ne-qua (Great Spirit). His eyes returned to the earth, his path lit by the glow overhead; he had not encountered anyone upon this path, but then again it was a late hour when soquili were normally asleep. The story teller had entered the land of the Kawani almost a year before and made the decision to stay; he had told and heard many different stories in the past few i-ya-nv-da (months) and each time he would be filled with the excitement of a telling.

The sound of hooves against the ground made the stallion pause, who was awake at this hour of the Sv-no-yi (night)? He walked upon silent hooves and encountered a sight he was not expecting to see, a mare with dark coloring that reminded him of a rosy lavender Milky Way with alluring stars dispersed around the wisps of color. He was only able to see her clearly in the night because at that moment Geyaguga shown his light upon the winged mare. Adonvdo watched with interest as she ran back and forth, staring up at the sky, appearing to be fascinated with what she saw. As he watched the coloration of her coat became less appearant as a cloud drifted over Geyaguga’s face, casting them into a slight darkness. With the stars as his guides, he made his way to the mare, trying not to be discrete and not wanting to cause her to have a U-da-s-ga-s-da-ne-di (fright).

“O-si-yo, Hello Miss,” he smiled at the mare, “Lovely night is it not?”

Eyes the color of pale silver touched with morning dew widened in pleasant surprise broke the night's silence. Her mind processed the sounds of hoofsteps moments later, and a faint blush would have stained her cheeks if her coat was a touch lighter; Da wouldn't be pleased to find her being snuck up on at night... though, come to think of it, the other had made no obvious efforts to muffle his hoofsteps.

"O-si-yo! Indeed 'tis!" A dazzling smile brightened her face as the cloud moved further across the night sky. "Pleasure t'meet ya, Sir." R's rolled off her tongue in a fashion entirely uncommon in the Kawanii tongue. Though her father hailed from different lands, she had grown up here and retained only remnants of his accent. Her voice was pleasing, neither too high nor too low, and if her pronunciation was a little off she was polite enough that not many Soquili thought to correct her.

Don't talk to strangers... What a silly rule! After all, wouldn't everyone be a stranger if you didn't first introduce yourself to them?
"I'm called Flòraidh, after t' flowers."

The stranger's mane was a pale wisp of pure moonlight, the same shade that highlighted stunning pale-gold eyes.

Adonvdo’s smiled widened at the return use of his greeting, and bowed his head to the mare, “It is a A-li-he-li-tsi-da-s-di or a pleasure to meet you as well Flòraidh.” Her name was different than any he had previously and his usually nimble tongue had difficulty pronouncing the mare’s name, but he was sure he came pretty close, with only a slight accent, “I am Adonvdo Nudade, after the Spirit of the Trading Moon.” The Nudade or the Trading Moon signified his birth month as November, but many a times he chose to celebrate his day of birth on All Hallows Eve.

Now that he was closer to the mare he was able to see her coloration much better, he was right, his original impression was correct. Her mane was a combination of red and black, because of her dark hair and the shadows of the night he did not notice the horn upon her head until he was standing Na-v-ni-ge (near) her. His head cocked to the side, a word from way back in his A-nv-da-di-s-di (Memory) came to the surface, the mare standing before him was an Alicorn, where the Ali came from he had no A-da-nv-te-di (idea).

“If I may be so Ni-ga-na-ye-s-gv-na, bold, what were you doing earlier? Running back and forth?” He felt his cheeks warm, he had just admitted he was watching her from afar; he quickly gave a reason why so she would not have any misconceptions, “I heard the sound of hooves, and not many are awake at this hour, so I was U-s-qua-ni-go-di, curious.”

Rather unconcerned that a not-so-long-ago-stranger had been watching her, she continued to smile. Her brow furrowed slightly as she wrestled with the pronunciation of his name. "Adonvdo Nudade" she paused, then her smile brightened. "'Tis a good name."
The name suited him, although she was curious as to its origin. Though she had heard the names associated with the months before, she did not make the connection now. "... Would... "

Ach, a question's been left unanswered! She pawed the ground, glancing down before peeking up with shy hesitation. "Ah, well... ah wanted to see whether the changin' sky was a product of my perspective, that is where i'm looking up at it, or if I can return to the same place a few moments later and see a new sky." It seemed to be something many beings would have pondered, seeing as how there were so many nights during which to think of such things, and so perhaps it was a question that had been answered long ago... but it was new to her, as so many things were.
She was young, and there was much of the world left unexplored. Many things she had yet to experience, many wonders she couldn't explain.

"''Tis not over-bold to seek to satisfy one's curiosity..." she drew a deep breath, enjoying the feel of the cool night air rustling her feathers as she drew the courage to pose a question of her own. "Would you mind terribly explaining to me the nature of the Spirit of the Trading Moon?" Flowers were a simple thing. Something about his namesake seemed so... grand.

So sorry! Here is the rp!

He could not stop watching her, she was like the spirit of the night herself, always changing but yet still constant, he bowed his head to the mare, “Wah-Doh, Thank you.” He turned his yellow eyes to the world above, the myriad of stars were the same as from where he originated, “I believe you will need to go farther than just a few steps to see the stars change, my people have many tales about the stars, they each tell a story, a moral that the young should learn from. Many stars are warriors who fought against great enemies in our past, others, like the star you see in the morning was once a mare who loved to dance under the stars and a god fell in love with her, his mate became jealous and turned the beautiful dancing mare into a star so her husband could not have her.” His voice was still melodious and cautious because he was no longer using words in his native tongue.

He smiled at the mare, “I would love to tell you how I came by my name. I am of the Asgina Kanehelvsgi herd, which is the Scary Story Herd, so most of us have a haunted tale depicted upon our coats. Adonvdo means spirit in my language and since my hair is translucent and I have the appearance of an apparition, my mother named me Adonvdo and as it is a tradition in my family, my last name is from the month I was born. Not that exciting, but it tis my name.”

Bit of a semi-hiatus there, but here we go. heart

She listened carefully, her eyes wide as the stallion wove his story of morality and stars. She gazed up at the bright lights in the sky for a moment before looking back at him, listening carefully as he spoke.
She blinked, awe-struck, at the story of the mare and the god. Though the warriors were a bit beyond her reckoning, the tale of love and loss was easier for her to grasp. "Ach, wow.... I s'pose i'll have to try harder then, no?" She wouldn't give up on this little dream, despite how hard it may turn out to be.

She smiled back, admiring his translucent mane anew now that she knew it had inspired his name. "A wonderful name, indeed!" She had been named for a flower, for she was delicate and pretty and her father's little darling... her family had no last name to speak of, and she found the idea of starting a new family tradition thrilling. That is, .... if she ever found someone to settle down with.
She glanced at Adonvdo and flushed a little, though the thought itself had been innocent enough. "... ah... " his stunning pale-gold eyes derailed her train of thought momentarily, so she tried again: "... Did y' enjoy being part o' a herd?" perhaps she was overstepping the bounds of courtesy, but she was curious about life lived amongst those who shared similar ideals... and curious as to what would make this stallion leave his. A search for new stories? Adventure?

Yeah, hopefully it does not go that long again lol -totally my fault- xP

He smiled at the free spirited mare, she was quite something and different from the other mares he had met here in Kawanii. “Yes, I guess you do.” Perhaps one day he will hear of a story about a curious mare who made it to the stars. He smiled at the mare, “I believe you will achieve your dream one day.” The story teller tried to think of more stories about the stars but he was coming up blank, he wanted to keep talking to the mare and tell her tales that would interest her.

A large smile appeared on his countenance, “Thank you,” he bowed his head to her, his pale translucent hair covering his citrine eyes. His mind went back to the time he was in the herd, his head slowly nodded at her question, “I quite enjoyed it. We all had a haunted tale upon our coat which told a story. Each full moon night we would stand in a group beneath the light of the moon and weave our tales.” He looked up to the star filled sky, “It was the most fun I have had in my entire life, but yet I wanted more, I wanted to hear different stories and go on an adventure like the characters in my Kanehelvsgis and so I did. I left the herd and came to Kawanii to have a new start.” He looked back to the mare, “Have you been a part of a herd?” Adonvdo wanted to know more about the curious mare standing before him beneath the vast blanket of stars, why was she so different from the others?

Aww. xD

She felt herself draw up with pride, encouraged by his professed belief in her ability to succeed. Yeah... some day. Silver-touched eyes brimming with new-found confidence, she looked back in time to see his smile grow.
"You are most welcome." She didn't think stating a simple truth deserved a thanking, but as she had been thanked it was only proper to respond in kind- and, honestly, she really had payed him a compliment, so of course he would thank her. Her brow furrowed slightly; it really wasn't that complicated.

She blinked and perked up ever further as he began to tell her of his times in the Asgina Kanehelvsgi herd. Peeking down, she realized that her hooves were no longer touching the ground- so perky had she become that her wings had caught air and lifted her forelegs slightly off the ground. She tucked her wings delicately at her side, and allowed herself to drop sedately back to the ground. It had been a while since she had become that excited.

Something about the way he told stories, his descriptive language and the wealth of information contained in a single sentence... it was just so fascinating.
And, of course, the tale faded away with the need for future adventures! She liked that not-quite-an-ending, for it meant that the hero could continue on and keep living his life amongst those who needed him...
Adonvdo Nudade was fascinating, all by himself. The stories just made him.... more so.

She considered his question thoughtfully. "No, I have a family but we are no herd. Da, Mama, me, and my brother." She rolled both r's, her father's accent coming out heavy in her speech. "Herds contain more than direct relatives, do they not?" She didn't know, really, but she'd thought that a herd would at least contain more than four souls. If size truly didn't matter, her family had strong bonds and deep-rooted morality that could be similar to what one would find in a gathering of like minds... but they were family, and family was first... even above the title of herd, right?
She peeked at him, already expecting an answer from the well-traveled stallion. She really did love his mane... and eyes... and- she blinked away the dreamy expression, waiting politely for his answer.

:}

His gaze continued to shift between the mare and the stars she so wished to be a part of, he tried to create a story with her achieving her goal, and smiled. Perhaps she would be like the dancing maiden and attract the love of a god and be placed upon the heavens for all to see. When she welcomed him, he turned his eyes back to her and gave her a radiant smile, not many have manners now a days and he was pleased that the mare standing before him possessed what many others did not.

Adonvdo cocked his head to the side as he considered her question, “I do not see why four could not be a herd. It is the bonds that are formed that make up a herd, not the numbers. A herd is family and your family alone can be a herd. It is what I believe to be true.” He was filled with sadness for a brief moment as he thought about his own words to the mare, family and herd. He had neither and yet here he was telling her about something in which he lacked. “I guess you do not release you are a part of a herd until you leave one and are finally aware of what you have lost.” He was not sad that he left his herd in search of stories and adventure, it was just at times he would become lonely and wish for another’s company.
