{ THE LAIR REDUX } IC + DISTORTED TRANCE INFORMATION

The Lost Clans Lair - Distorted Version:

gaia_crown [ Setting: ] After the Hunter invasion, the Lair now rests at the very precipice of Halloween, much like the Haunted House. It no longer retains an exit in the Sahara, and can only be entered by those bearing the sigil of the Lost Clans. Everyone else will find them meandering a meaningless infinity of shadows and distortions forever. As the Lair is considered neither in Halloween nor the Human World, it is protected by the distortion that created it, and can contain humans safely without them exploding.

- The Lair has four main IC settings that all Clan initiates can visit. Please rp anything in the Lair settingin the main subforum for horsemen HERE. Simply label your RP [LAIR] for location, and then the usual. You may rp in any of the listed locations, or make a vague one of your own.

The Colosseum: Normally closed, this large building, a crimson monument with sharp ragged edges, showcases odd events, for examples, sometimes cruel battles with prisoners such as Hunters brought back from the Human world. Occasionally there are exhibits in the Colosseum though now it is oddly empty.

The Dungeons: This is where horsemen keep Humans they have captured for Fear harvesting, slowly and painfully. The runes at the top of the dungeons, in fact the miasma in the entire Lair, prevent Hunters from being able to fully summon and utilize their weapons or use any Runic technology period. It is something of a "dead zone" for Hunters.

The Main Cavern: At the entrance of the Lair is the Main Cavern. It contains several oddly distorted doors, portals that lead to the Human World. Famine sentry members are stationed there heavily, to make sure nothing odd enters their portals. Clan members can leave via the portals back to Halloween or to various places in the Human world to gather Fear. For more information on Fear Harvesting, please check in here. Anyone who is a Clans initiate can take on a Lair Task (please do so in the MAIN subforum, not this one!)

The Experiment Room: The experiment rooms are small rooms filled with odd projects going on, mostly through Famine alchemists. It contains a wealth of supplies from rich minerals to crops - created using their underwater reserve - and even large and unusual Fear creatures and minipets. The most important part of the experiment room is the Fear healing section, which all Lost Clans members can visit to rest and recover. Braver Lost Clans members can play round with the items left behind the Famine alchemist, though the vials usually bear unusual results. ((OOC: Players are free to create/ take/ use flasks that have MINOR status effects. These only last an IC hour max. Minor status effects are ones such as hair colour changes, voice change, a small blight, height and size change, and the occasional floating in the air problem)).

DISTORTION IN THE LAIR:

gaia_crown [ Sparring: ] Sparring in a Lair is not uncommon, and usually the empty Colosseum is a great place for many antsy Lost Clans members to go to. Distortion works the same as it does in the Lairs as it does anywhere else.

gaia_crown [ Minipets: ] Minipets react really oddly to a distorted environment. If exposed too long to the Lair, they will become oddly coloured. They will also extremely mutate in size and be unable to return back to the minipet closet. The only way to fix this is to have your minipet battle.
- You have brought your minipet to the Experiment room and left it there too long and now it is distorted! What do you do?
- You can use this minipet as a BATTLE FAMILIAR, but it must be outside of this Lair anywhere in the Human World or Halloween. Please note: you can only do this in PRP BATTLES.
- Your minipet will TAKE PLACE FOR YOU in battle. That means you are pretty much a pokemon trainer. Your minipet will battle for you. Your distorted minipet takes YOUR STATS, as it directly feeds off your distortion. Basically it is a large monster (around 10 - 20 feet) with YOUR BATTLE STATS that can only be used once in any battle: using a distorted minipet in battle will return it to normal size.
- Please note if your distorted minipet hits -10 HP they are DEAD. That means they are no longer rpable sad

gaia_crown [ Mirrors: ] At occasional points around the Colosseum, oddly enough, mirrors will show up occasionally, flickering before disappearing entirely. Upon looking into a mirror, you will see an odd reflection of yourself, each mirror uniquely and entirely different. If you stare at the mirror long enough, you feel a strange tugging sensation and.... (see post below)

Occasionally, where there were none before, odd mirrors will show up inside the Lair. The appearance and occurrence is entirely random. Upon looking into the mirror, you will see an odd reflection of yourself, it looks sort of like you, but there is something off, from your hair to your clothing. If you reach in for a closer look, you will feel a strange tugging sensation-

- As your body crumples and falls unconscious. Maybe a few hours later a Famine clan member will see you and drag you into the resting center for you to wake up later, probably remarking another "Not again."

DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE:



gaia_crown [ Distorted world of Trance and you! ]: As your real body crumples unconscious, you feel odd for a second, the world blurring around you. You can hear people talking, figures, shapes. The setting swims, colours, nonsensical words floating everything.

And then everything sharpens. You look around. Perhaps someone else who was viewing the mirror with you looks around too. Nothing looks familiar.

gaia_crown [ OOC INFORMATION ]:
- You are now in a distorted Trance world! Unlike normal trance, the occurrences of these are ENTIRELY RANDOM.
- All Lost Clans initiates can ICly find a mirror - just rp them doing so, no GM permission required! - and find themselves in a distorted Trance world. They can do this as an orp, solo, or PRP
- The FIRST PLAYER (or if just yourself, just roll solo) must roll the setting (see below). Your character is now in another alternate timeline setting!
- An alternate timeline means things that never happened in the current timeline happened entirely. It could even occur in the past or present. It always INCLUDES your characters.
- Basically, your players (however many involved in that RP) that stumbled right into an alternate timeline. However, everything is odd and distorted, meaning it is still the alternate timeline, but things that should never, ever be happening are very, very possible! These are timelines that may never occur, but somehow have been messed up by distortion! What it means to you is you can RP an alternate timeline RP without repercussion.
- Please note: these only occur MENTALLY for the players, physically this is not happening. However anything that happens in the alternate timeline CAN and WILL hurt. The memory is also carried over when they wake up.
- PLAYER POV: your player is not actually involved in the alternate timeline but has simply and accidentally stumbled upon it. That means everyone but you (or the players you have dragged into it) is actually a part of this timeline. You look and dress the part, people assume you have an alternate timeline identity with an alternate timeline backstory and name, but in terms of mental state, you don't actually belong in this timeline but in the actual IC TiH canon setting.
- Tldr: it is exactly like if your IC canon character stumbled into an Alternate Universe where everyone else but you thought they were part of the AU. this is a good example of what might happen.

gaia_crown [ Setting up your Distortion Trance RP ]:
- First your Lost Clans member needs to actually DISCOVER THE MIRROR. Have them walk around the Lair and rp them finding one (or however many people, but only one person needs to roll to initiate). Now, you can proceed to the steps below. Make sure if you are doing a distortion trance rp to set it up IN THIS SUBFORUM ONLY.
- You will need to roll in your first SETTING CHANGE post (or the first player needs to) 3d6. This determines these values.
- The first roll will be setting: 1-2 = this happens in a "past" sort of setting, 3-4 in the "present" sort of setting, 5-6 in an entirely futuristic setting. Choice of setting is up to you. That means yes, your character can also very viably interact with past characters that died (with RP permission, see below on characters + rp permission)
- The second roll will be distortion level: - The LOWER the roll, the more ACCURATE this timeline is to the current timeline. For example, maybe only a small event did not occur, for instance the Four Clans isle not exploding, or 1999 occurring successfully. The HIGHER the roll, the most convoluted the timeline is. For example, everyone is actually a pirate, or Halloween doesn't actually exist and horsemen are instead, high school students. Use your imagination as you like, discuss also with other players on how you want this to occur! Make sure in your first post you write an an OOC FULL SUMMARY of the setting you made up so everyone knows!
- The third roll is your group's power level. If 1, they are extremely low-ranked/ weak, if 6, they are strong. Each group member can roll individually if they want, just roll 1d6 right after the initial post to determine their char's power level in that setting.
- Once again, EACH distortion is different, so once it has been rped out, it is considered completed. You will not be able to go back to this distortion once you ICly wake up sad
- You ICly wake up once you have either "died" in this rp, or more than a week has passed in this Distortion World of Trance (24 hours in non-distortion world, while resting in the Lair)
- Everything else is up to you! Battles, power levels, positions, etc etc, the options are endless! If you are are unsure, you can always ask about this more in the Q & A


gaia_crown [ Inviting Players ]:
- There are a few options for inviting players. Only Lost Clans members OR initiates can do so, that means they NEED to initiate the RP.
- The first is to invite fellow Lost Clans members. Those ones will be in the same boat as you, entirely lost as to what is happening in the timeline as they wander and adapt to it, and maybe learn a little moral lesson.
- The second is to invite anyone not part of the Lost Clans to come play. These players will actually be immersed in the current setting. That means these are not the actual players in trance, but part of the trance setting (so basically while your Lost Clans member is well aware it is not part of the setting, these characters actually believe they are part of the setting and are "npcs" within that confined setting and have always been so). Consider it "guest" rping (these players will still get RP points). See below for more information if confused.

gaia_crown [ EXAMPLE INVITING PLAYERS ]:
- BASICALLY what it it means is: Let's say I am Medea, a horseman, and I invite Aisa, Dr. H, Aria, and Caelius to come party with me in this AU world. I roll 3d6's and roll 1, 6, 6. The setting we have decided on is that everyone is an extremely overpowered mermaid with lightning powers living under the ocean in Atlantis for the sake of this extremely distorted trance.
- I post first post with Medea. She is wandering around searching for her Alpaca Mr. Fluffy, when she notices a mirror in the wall! Ooh it is so pretty! She calls for Aisa.
- Second post is Aisa. She comes over. Oh wow, she remarks! How shiny! She touches it. Oops.
- Third post is Medea. She rps being sucked INTO the trance world. Roll your 3d6 (See above for setup). So rolled 1, 6, 6. That means this happens in the past, something crazy happened in this world, and her power level is extremely high, so she's a ******** Jedi or something. Now I will write in OOC at the bottom of my post the SETTING FOR EVERYONE, which we have all decided is going to take place in Altantis where everyone is a mermaid and they all have magical lightning powers. I can now also quote Liz, Maru, and myself playing the Hunter characters to come in and play as well.
- Post order is now up to you. Let's say that Liz comes in to post first with Dr. H. She can rp him however she pleases (they could even icly be bff or lovers in this timeline ok), as long a you guys have you know, worked something out. Let's say that Dr. H is a giant tentacle octopus merman intent on setting revenge to all of Atlantis. She then comes in to post a post with him, the setting in the current IC timeline is that Dr. H-pus has just captured Mermaid Medea and Mermaid Aisa.
- At this point Medea snaps into trance. She is extremely confused. Why is she a mermaid in a cage with Dr. H-pus leering over her in a cauldron. This is extremely confusing as last time she checked she was a pretty badass horsewoman. She might want to express her beliefs however she pleases.
- Aria-shark mermaid can then come in to post, for example, that they have captured them as noble sacrifices! All hail the evil shark god! She and Dr. H are actually lovers.
- Aisa snaps into trance. She is also extremely confused. She discusses this with confused Medea. They have no clue why they are mermaids.
- Caelius-sparkling mermaid man thing also comes in and explains that they have just captured them as sacrifices, and maybe taunts them or something or says some really long speech. Apparently Medea and Aisa are beautiful mermaid princesses.
- Medea and Aisa can now come to their own conclusions. Do they play along? Do they ask more? What will this involve? The setting goes deeper the more you play it, and can conclude however you guys want it. Seriously, this is AU (alternate Universe), you can do what you want just please keep it PG-13 rated or less please please please thank you.
