Between all the other junk going on in her life, Mei had been beginning to put together the Art and Crafts club for the school. There was so much to do and get and just...plan. She had a few other students involved but she needed more. Many more.
And honestly she needed those she could give other jobs to. Small jobs but they were integral to the survival of the club.
What she really needed was a Treasurer. Someone to purchase supplies and keep track of the silver seeds that they had to spend on the supplies. She had been pondering who to ask while sitting on a bench near the Demon dorms. Her ankles crossed as she stared up at the sky, watching clouds roll by. Her two toned hair catching in a light breeze to flutter against her face. She brushed a bit back behind her ears, pursing her lips.
Who who who. Hmmm.

It was likely a simple need for sustenance that drew Chryses out of his dorm and into the sunlight that day. He wasn't even sure how long he'd spent down there...probably mot of the intervening time since braving that strange cave. He had taken care to ensure his appearance was as perfect as possible despite the lack of sleep or food for quite some time.
He was almost surprised to see a vaguely familiar face outside the demon dorms. He took the time to think. She was the girl in the cave...her name...Meixiang!
"Miss Meixiang. A pleasant surprise." He did actually sort of like her, in his way.

Her head quickly turned her her name was called. A familiar voice brought a smile to her lips as she spotted the Demon boil approaching. "Chryses! Its great to see you. Been a while since the last time I saw you. Have you been hiding in a little hidey hole somewhere?" Her smile turned into a teasing grin as she pat the bench seat beside her. If he wanted to sit he could, if he was busy and didn't have time to sit and chat well then...that was that.
Uncrossing her legs, she brushed more hair behind her ear with a quick sweep of her fingers. "But all in all, how have you been? It has been sometime since the caves. I was beginning to worry that you had gone and left school after that little experience." Mei didn't like it when her friends disappeared for long periods of time. It made her worry a lot especially if they didn't keep in touch.

Chryses frowned a little. "More accurate than you'd think. I've been sorting out a bit of an accounting mess for a company my father recently acquired. He thought it would be good practice for me. I haven't left my dorm in...I...actually don't know how long it's been." He took the offered seat next to her. In his mind, he was still turning over a few figures, trying to decide if a discrepancy was fraud or just sloppy bookkeeping.
"I've been well," he said. "Busy, but well. I fought far too hard to come here to consider leaving after one...bad experience." Terrible as it had been. He didn't dare ask how long it had been, for fear of the answer. "And you? How have you been?"
The level of politeness he was managing was utterly astonishing.

She was glad her took a seat besides her to talk for a bit. Everyone was busy doing their own things and sometimes they would forget just to sit down, relax and have a simple conversation with others.
"Ah, sounds like that would keep you really busy. I can only imagine what kind of amazing math skills you must have to keep it all together. I would probably end up crying under a desk if I had to do anything like that." Laughing, she shook her head. Patting his arm lightly.
"That's good. I'm glad you stuck around." She fiddled with the sleeves of her outfit. "I've been well. Busy like most around here. I just passed my year two exam so I'm official up a year now. Been taking a lot of classes....activities to establish better relations with the Horsemen, trying to get the Art and Crafts Club off the ground."

Chryses shrugged. "It's something of a gift of my kind. We're rather naturally good with numbers." He said, an element of pride coating his words. "I like to think I'm especially so." Ther eit was, his ever-expanding ego. He stared oddly at her hand patting his arm for a moment, before looking back at his face.
"I'm rather glad I did too," he agreed. Home was so stifling. "Congratulations on moving up. How is the club going?" He asked. He skipped over the idea of Horsemen, they still rather terrified him.

Mei nodded. Every species, even sub-species of species had their own special talents. She could appreciate the diversity for sure.
Figiting a moment she laced her fingers together. "Thanks. And its...kinda slow. Right now its just me, Alex and Mitzi. I've been trying to come up with ideas to get it off the ground and make it more active but with everything going on lately its kinda of been a back burner project."
Tilting her head for a second, she looked at Chryses intently. "Oh! Chryses you just gave me a good idea! If you aren't too busy with your accounting stuff for your father maybe you could be like...uh Treasurer for the club? It would be one less thing for me to hafta worry about and maybe you could meet some new people when we do activities and the like." She looked at him hopeful. "Our club could really use your expertise and I'm sure you would be a valuable asset to it."

Chryses nodded. The name "Alex" rang no bells, though "Mitzi" very nearly dinged one. It seemed vaguely familiar, in the way names and faces were often very vaguely familiar to him. "There does seem to be quite a bit going on, hmm?" He chuckled.
He blinked, looking surprised that she would offer him a position in the club. He was about to protest that he really knew nothing about art, but... Treasurer. Hmm. There was something he could call home about with a little pride. He could absolutely tell his parents he was managing money for a club. Small potatoes, certainly, compared to his father's businesses and untangling fraud, but he could do it. Also, she had called him a "valuable asset." Yes, stroking his ego was the way to get him to do things.
"I would be glad to help you, Mei. What exactly would my duties as Treasurer entail?"

She let out a small sigh, rubbing at the back of her neck briefly. "Yeeeaaaa. It always seems like there is one thing after another. Some times I wonder if I'll ever get a break from it all." Mei rolled her head slightly, stretching out her neck with a light groan. "Perhaps I shall make a trip back for in a little while. It would be nice to see my parents and everyone else at the compound." She did miss them all. Of course, ya know, there was the occasional phone call from her mother which was usually a three way call with her father on another phone. But just going home to relax and spend time with them would be nice. If things ever slowed down enough to give her time to plan a trip. Mei brightened when Chryses accepted. Good something else she wouldn't have to worry about. She hoped. Though she knew he was a Greed demon, so perhaps him relinquishing some funds might be a bit of a struggle. But at least she'd have someone who probably knew how to budget. "Oh you know, collecting funds to help buy art supplies. Keeping purchase records. Easy peasy stuff for you I'm sure." She gave him a soft smile. "Thank you Chryses, I really appreciate you helping me out."

A trip home. "That sounds like a good idea," he said. Though perhaps he would avoid home. Too many long shadows there. He brushed the thought away mentally. He had never had even a flicker of homesickness. Being far away, he was far more comfortable.
He listened to her explanation, nodding along. It sounded simple enough, though he was at least peripherally aware that art could be expensive...surely there were cheap equivalents that were just as good, right? "I can do that, absolutely." He agreed. Yes, this would be borderline cushy.

"I want to have lots of events. Get people active. There aren't a lot of active clubs anymore. I was honestly surprised there was no artsty type club when I had put in to create this one." Everyone was so busy she was certainly not surprised that student clubs had been put on the back burner. While clubs weren't required for the first two years at school it was nice to have a multitude to choose from once you needed to start looking for them for your third year. And getting in early was good as well. "And..." She paused for a second. "You should think up of some sort of art or crafty thing to lead a small group event in. Ya know, like making paper masks or paper lanters." Mei wanted all members involved. "Or you can talk about art or artists that you like. Either way. I would like all members to host at least one club event."

Chryses nodded. Though he wasn't one for it, and wouldn't be thinking of joining if it weren't for Mei's offer, he could see the value of clubs. "It would be nice to get together without some life and limb threat, I suspect." He said, a surprising attempt at humor from him.
And then she suggested he lead some sort of activity and color drained form his face. As much as he hated the idea of admitting he couldn't do something, getting in front of people was a bit out of his purview. Never mind that he wasn't particularly crafty. "I, ah, don't know if that's the best idea." He said. "I could certainly try, but I am not very good at, uh, that sort of thing."
Which translated from "Chryses" to "regular speech" as "god no please no don't make me do that ever." He so very much hated public speaking.
"But I will do everything I can in my duties as Treasurer to ensure your club is a success," he promised, his face lighting up a little. It often surprised people how eager he was to help others – but if it meant showing off his particular talents in the process… "I will see you at the first meeting, then. If you need me, I will likely be in my dormitory, " he pulled out a small datebook from his pocket, tore off a page, and wrote down his dorm number for her. "Have a lovely day, miss Meixiang. "
