Adonis was out for an afternoon walk. It was hot and he had to stop by the lake for a drink and a bit of a swim. While he was there he busied himself by catching harptoads to listen to their musical voices when they were stepped on. This never hurt the toads they simply tried to alarm their attacker by making a noise close to the musical noise of a harp. Occasionally one would sounds like a piano, but the other toads treated them oddly.

Bwael was no longer here to protect her, so she had better pay close attention to her surroundings she thought. "Well, what direction shall I go?," she said. "I suppose I should have asked Bwael that before I left." She continued walking along the path toward Lake Sandar, and as she came within view, she caught sight of another horse, colored like a rainbow, standing on the lake shore. "He's beautiful," she said to herself. "I really hope he's a nice horse, and not one of those Sixers." If he was, she would have to be quick, and fly away. She approached the lake, but from the opposite shore, in order to have some distance between them should he appear to be malicious. "Good day to you sir," she said. Bwael had taught her many things, and manners was high up on the list.

Adonis looked up to see a simply astounding mare. His mouth dropped open for a second before he recovered his composure. "Oh I am sorry Miss you caught me offguard, I hadn't realized you were over there. Out for a stroll? Today would be the day for it wouldn't it? With the sun warming one's back and the light shining off everything in such a beautiful way." Adonis dipped his front end in the water and took a drink. The water is quite cool if you are too hot." It suddenly occurred to Adonis that she might be of the evil alignment, and waryness entered his eyes...."Your not an evil alignment are you? I'm afraid having to either run or fight would quite ruin my day." And then he realized he had babbled on for long enough and she would need time to catch up.

"Evil? Do I look evil?" she asked, not really giving him time to answer. "Of course I am not evil." Why would he ask her such an absurd question she thought to herself. She was half inclined to turn around and leave, but oh...he was so handsome, and she couldn't take her eyes off of him. "I have just recently left my herd, with the intention of traveling the isle, to see everything I have not yet seen." Wondering if he might be able to show her around she said, "My name is Zelda. May I ask yours, and where you come from?"

"Oh I am sorry, one can never be to careful these days. I lost my father to the six. My name is Adonis, son of Dark Ion. I live with my herd right by Sandar lake where the great pine trees are." He bowed low to her. His father had always taught him to respect females. And he would have it no other way. Of course a stallion was liable to slip up once or twice. It did occur once in a while.

Hearing him say his father died because of the Six brought back memories of her own parents death. "I know your pain Adonis. I lost my parents to the Six as well, but I was lucky enough to escape detection. I was raised by a nice stallion who happened upon me shortly after their death. So, this Sandar Lake, I do not know of it. Is it very pretty there? Would you care to show it to me?" It was such a beautiful day, and she wanted to spend some time with him. Meeting humans could wait.

"Who looked after you?" Adonis asked curiously. "Oh it is gorgeous there, I'll give you the tour." It was sunny and perfect out, which meant the odd sea serpent might be lounging in the middle of the lake and he did love watching them. He hoped this fine lady would too. "This way," he said as he led her toward his home and the adjoining lake.

"Oh, I was found by a very nice stallion named Bwael. He came across my parents bodies, and there I was, nestled between them, covered with their blood. I don't really remember much of it, as I was very young when they were killed. Bwael took me as his own and raised me. There were a couple of other Azrein with us as well, but they weren't family to him. He taught me everything I needed to know to survive on my own, and here I am. Trying to survive on my own for the first time." As they walked, she took in her surroundings. That was one of the things Bwael had taught her from a very young age; always know where you are, the way in which you got there, and how to return. Theirs had been a very gypsy-like lifestyle. Never staying in one place for too long.

Adonis gave her a shocked look. "Thats awful. I wasn't there at the death of my father and I haven't seem my mother for so long I know not of what has befallen her. I am glad that Bwael found you. He seems to have done an excellent job of raising you." Soon pine trees rose up over the land and the Great Lake came into sight. "There she is, you can't tell from here but I bet one of the serpents is out basking. You know they are rediculously friendly and despite their fearsome size only eat fish. They adore company."

"Serpents?" Her voice held just a hint of a quaver as she repeated the word. "What serpents?" She gazed at the large lake laid out before them. It was by far the largest body of water she had ever seen before. The sun was shining down upon its surface, casting little orbs of bright light here and there. She began searching the shoreline, trying to spy out one of these serpents he spoke of. He said they were friendly, but could anything called a serpent, ever really be truly friendly? She didn't think she had ever met a serpent before, so he could only rely on his word that they were.

Adonis scanned the shore with her and sure enough a serpent had his head lounging on the sand, snoring away. Adonis shook his head. They were a bit like overgrown toothy dolphins cept they looked nothing like that. This ones twin sails were partially open to catch sun rays, the bright red and orange reflecting alot of light .

"There's one there," he nodded in that direction. Do you want to go say hello?"
