The sun was blazing bright as Neirin started to wake up. He let out a large yawn and stretched out his back before going over to the pool of water that he had fallen asleep near for a drink of water. When he had satisfied his thirst, he yawned once more and shook out his mane. He took a deep breath of morning air and looked around the area.

Now this was the time he thrived! When the sun was high in the sky, lighting the savannah. Before he could give it too much thought, his stomach let out a loud roar as it reminded him that he had failed to find anything to eat during the night. He grumbled slightly and wished it would stop making noise. When it quieted down, the orange lion slunk into the nearby grass.

He worked his way through the tall blades, keeping his eyes out for any signs of movement or any form of prey. He continued crawling around the grass until he spotted something sitting on a rock. He drew his blue eyes into a squint, trying to get a better look at what it was.

The sitting on the rock all along was a bird! It may not be the most filling meal but at least it would get his stomach to shut up until he could find something else. Neirin kept a close eye on his prey as he crouched down and prepared to pounce.
