Since she had arrived back at Amityville, Mei had fallen back into her normal routine, of her daily life at the school--or close to it had been. Still attending classes and other necessities that helped her approach to graduation. Graduation..the students before them..Ava, Zeke, Skylar and the rest, they were about to graduate when the hunters shown up and started trouble for them. Now? Now they were most likely dead, or weaponized, or..maybe they had been tagged as well? Like she and the other students taken? It was something that was going to nag at her mind for a while, till it drove her insane. It was already beginning too!
Shifting through her piles of school work, she stacked them neatly in a pile before moving onto the next batch. As much as she hated doing school work, she really began to appreciate it this time around. Anything to keep her mind off of everything that had happened was welcomed really. But seeing as she had missed so many classes, this took priority over everything else. How long had she even been gone? She had no idea..a while maybe? There was enough school work here to make her believe that. Or maybe the teachers just enjoyed piling on the work. Either or, it made little difference.
Leaning back in her chair, Mei set the pencil down, examining the bracelet around her wrist with a look of disdain. Bits and pieces had corroded already, but the majority of it was taking its sweet time in coming off. Growing more irritated as she looked at it, the doll reached for her sweater, pulling it over to hide the damned thing for now. She could just keep this on. Keep it on until the whole bracelet crumbled away into nothing. But she knew it was there, and that thought alone annoyed her to no end.
For now, she had to push that thought to the back of her mind and focus. She had work to do. A lot of it, and sitting her moping wasn't going to do her any good. Searching through her remaining subjects, Mei found herself holding what appeared to be a DETH poster. Like the club Ava, Zeke and Skylar were in. The whole human loving thing.. This was not something she wanted to look at right now. The thought of even going near humans at this time sickened her. Crumpling up the poster, she tossed it over her shoulder and slammed her elbows onto the desk. Who the hell even thought of sliding that in with her school work!? The nerve of it!
Okay! Focus Mei! Its just a poster. Let the other students believe what they want about humans. This continued for a while, as she attempted to calm herself. There was nothing she could do about students wanting to go out and be all friendly with the humans. She felt that way not long ago. Right now, however, the hunters had kind of twisted her view on them. She didn't hate them or anything, she was just pissed off. Mainly at the hunters. That they used her in their plans to deceive her kind. What was worse, she had no idea what it was this thing inside her would do! How she would act, who she might hurt. "Ugh!" The horsemen, the hunters, they both sucked! Both sides were so eager to tear each others throats out! Why did they feel the need to drag her and the rest of them in to their little war?
"Jack dammit!" That was it! She couldn't think anymore. Her motivation to work through this school work was gone, and it wasn't coming back any time soon. Not until she calmed down and cleared her mind of all this crap she had been freaking out over for the past few days.
Taking in an unneeded breath of air, Mei stood from her desk, and paced around the room a few times. Maybe she should go for a walk to let of steam? Or visit some friends? She had to admit, she has been a little anti-social since she had arrived back. Aside from a few people who stopped by her dorm, she hadn't really spoken to anyone. Great. She could only imagine what people were beginning to think about it all.
Scratching at the back of her head, she contemplated about phoning her father or brother, but that thought was quickly discarded. They were likely to only freak out if they heard about it, and pull her from the school. Or at least her dad would. No..she didn't want to fill him in on any unnecessary details.
Pausing in mid pace, her gaze landed on the small plush that Bul had given to her as prom gift. Making her way over to it, she tenderly lifted it into her arms, hugging it close to her chest as she took a seat at the foot of her bed. Tucking her feet up underneath herself, Mei rested her head against the soft fabric of the plush toy. Closing her eye, she hugged the plush a little tighter.
She loved this thing, It was her most adored possession. No matter how upset, or stressed she was, just hugging it close like this seemed to calm her. After holding it for a good few minutes, she set it back down on the bed and strode towards the desk again.
Okay. Back to work.
