It had taken Ashton a few moments to realize who he had been taking too before being able to properly respond. It wasn't often he got asked to meet up with someone since he wasn't a man who had very many friends. So when Alastair called him it took him a little bit longer then probably polite to remember who he was.
So currently he was walking down the street with Fintan walking beside him to meet the other guardian. The fire bird was less then pleased to be dragged out and away from whatever the child was doing up in his bedroom. Then there was Ziya, who wouldn't come out of his bedroom either, which wasn't normal for him. but after his injury, the teen wasn't doing much of anything. The poor teen was in a bad way, still healing and it looked like not without some serious scars emotional and physical.
"Will this be quick? I have an experiment that is due to be turned over and have notes taken... and I doubt Ziya will do it for me...." Fintan said, sounding quite cross about possibly missing data.
"Whatever it is it better not be toxic... or stain...." Ashton sighed, stopping in front of the cafe he met Alastair the first time. It was going to be strange because he brought a different dust child with him Last they met he hadn't found Fintan's bottle yet...
"Not.... exactly.... though I'm not sure... need more data to be sure..." FIntan said, looking thoughtful for a moment.
"Great...." Ashton sighed, leaning against the wall of the cafe and waited for the other man to show up with what he presumed was going to be his dust child.

Alastair was overjoyed when Ashton agreed to meet with him. He wasn't sure what he would do if Ashton turned him down. Fall into a downward spiral of panic, maybe? Maybe not. Eventually, he would figure out how to raise the dust child. He had to believe that, at least. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have found the bottle. It was still a curious thing how the bottles just appeared before their guardians, but he didn't bother to think too hard about it. However they chose their guardians, they had to know whether that person would be a good guardian or not. He just didn't have much faith in his abilities to actual raise a child.
"Hey, wait up!" Alastair called to the child that ran ahead of him. He brought Meital along with him since after meeting with Ashton, he planned to do shopping with her for furniture for her room. He also feared leaving her at home. There were people he could ask to babysit, but with her ability with water, he didn't think that was the best idea. What if it scared them and they ran off and left her alone? He couldn't bare to think of something like that happening.
Meital paused and turned around, showing the hint of a pout as she waited for him. "You walk too slow," she argued impatiently.
Alastair sighed. He couldn't help that he was a slow walker. Already he doubted that he would be able to keep up with Meital's energy. He wasn't as young as he used to be, and even when he was young, he spent most of his time with his nose in a book. Looking beyond Meital, Alastair smiled. "I think I see them," he told her. He recognized Ashton right away, but the child with him was another story. He wasn't with Ziya like when they first met. His expression turned curious as he took Meital's hand before she could going running ahead of him again.
She started to only to be held back by his slow pace. Meital tugged at his arm, trying to urge him to walk faster, but Alastair kept up with his normal pace until they arrived at the spot agreed upon by him and Ashton to meet.
"Hello, Ashton," Alastair greeted with a smile and a nod.
"What about the shopping?" Meital asked, pulling at the sleeve of Alastair's coat. She didn't want to listen to boring adults talk about boring things.

"I don't understand the logic of meeting this man Ashton" Fintan said as he watched a child with an unusual hue to her hair approach with a rather dull looking man. And in dull he really meant easy to read. The easier a person to read but the less interesting they became. Humans were so predictable, like an open book on most occasions. However there was always that moment when you run across someone so utterly fascinating that it was hard to pass up approaching them to see if your deductions are correct. This seemed to be not such a case, pity.
"Fin... I have experience with dusts.... I have raised Ziya and now I have you... for better or for worse" he grumbled the last part mostly to himself. The little bird was being especially grumpy today as on top of being made to leave his experiment, it was damp feeling outside.
"Yes, but under the assumption that not every Dust is the same you have no idea what his child is capable of; let alone do you have any idea what I am capable of" Fintan then pointed out, plucking a stray fluff from his scarf.
Sighing, Ashton rolled his eyes a little then looked down at the short red head. Red heads; he really shouldn't be overly surprised by the moods the bird had. But sometimes the things that came from the childs mouth made him want to bang his head against the nearest blunt object. He lifted his gaze when he noticed Alastair approach with a teal haired child, causing the raven haired man to grin.
"Hey there Alastiar!" He greeted in return, a slight smile on his face. He paused for a moment when the little girl spoke up, a grin appearing on his face as it seemed he wasn't the only one with a impatient child. "This must be your little dust?" he asked, earning a snort from Fintan. Sighing alittle, he looked down at Fintan, who was all but rolling his eyes at how the conversation was going.
"This is dull, he obviously is able to care for the child despite the doubts and low self esteem he has on the matter..." the little firebird spoke up. "I mean you're an educated man for god sakes! You teach for a living.... as proven from the chalk smudge on your sleeve and the spot of ink on your thumb... been having a rough time marking grades? I see a little more red then standard black on your thu--"
"Fintan!!! I said play nice!" Ashton all but shouted, pinching the bridge of his nose slightly. "Sorry.... this... this is Fintan... I found his bottle maybe a day or two after I met you last....he is... well a Phoenix.. thus the attitude... I am assuming..."

Alastair nodded back to Ashton as he was greeted. "Yes, this would be Meital," he answered, placing a hand on the girl's head, which she didn't appreciate and tried to swat away. She then folded her arms with a grumpy expression, hoping that the boring adults wouldn't spend forever talking about uninteresting things. She wanted to go shopping like Alastair promised because right now her room was plain and boring. Her bed's mattress was already because it was soft and cushy, but Alastair only had plain white sheets and blankets for it. She wanted something blue... or green. Maybe a blue-green? She couldn't decided on which just yet.
Hearing the snort, he blinked and glanced down at the boy that he still didn't recognize. But when the boy began to speak, Alastair immediately felt his cheeks heating up from embarrassment. He looked down at his sleeve and hand, not even noticing the chalk smudge or ink spot until the boy pointed them out to him. That boy had a rather sharp eye, and the accurate description had Alastair stamping down the nervous laughter trying to bubble up in him in response.
"Another bottle? Is it common to find more than one?" As Fintan already pointed out, Alastair already had his worried about raising even one dust. He couldn't imagine taking on a second dust. "Oh, my apologies," he said, looking down at Fintan. "It's very nice to meet you." Though the way Fintan analyzed him in a split second had him a little unsettled.
Meital, on the other hand, was looking at the other dust with amazement and wonder in her eyes. She took her eyes away for a moment to squint up at her guardian. "How did you figure all that out?" she asked Fintan in an excited voice. She, also, hadn't noticed any of the things that he mentioned, but she also hadn't given much attention to it. But something Ashton said made her wrinkle up her face in confusion. She tilted her head up to her guardian. "What's a Fee - a Pha - a whatever he said?" She couldn't quite get the word to come out right, and she frowned with a feeling of frustration.
"A Phoenix," Alastair answered. "It's a mythical bird." He was rather amazed to discover what type of dust Fintan was.
