The moon hunter was more or less impatient. His house was... in shambles. More or less. But he'd already had to postpone their wedding once. Now it was looking like it was going to get pushed back farther, and from the recent developments? Marcus did not like that. Life was short, and he was determined to spend whatever he had with Cass. As her husband. And goddamn he couldn't do s**t if he couldn't get off the island. Have the wedding on Deus he was told. Not like it was official. Not like it mattered. But to Marcus it mattered. They had stupid dreams and wants and they were obtainable damn it all!
Immediate goals: Get the Main building repaired. Long term goal: Get off the damn island for his and Cass's wedding.
Getting to work, the moon hunter groaned as he found out, 'oh that huge ******** ditch? You and a few other moon hunters get to repair the pipes! The gas and water atre off'. Followed by the lovely words 'I think.'

The dirt was hard, even after being exposed to the sticky humid air of the island. A lot of rock covered what they needed to get to, the bent and broken pipes needing replacement rather than patch work. As far as Marcus went was doing the hard labor, moving rock and rubble out of the way so the more experienced hunters could do what needed to be done. When it came to the actual time to repair, Marcus was tripping over his own feet trying to watch. After about the third fumble one of the senior hunters dragged him over, saying if how he was so interested he could get some hands on work.
Thus far, Marcus had only done the pipe work for the house. And that was only by a lot of trial and error. Not to mention a lot of reading from manuals. This was a bit different. As one hunter brought out the tools Marcus stood awkwardly.
It was a lot different.

The way that the moon hunters worked was with efficiency. If it was because Simon had just passed by or not Marcus wasn't sure, but when the senior hunter gave him orders Marcus followed them as best he could. Hold the pipe while they fastened it to the others. Watch what they were doing. Stop gaping and listen. Answer, no, that was wrong this was right. Slowly, Marcus was beginning to feel like a moron, not knowing heads from tails and things were put into place.
Until finally, after what felt like hours, he was given a pat on the back and told to go find something else to work on for a while. All that was left was fine tuning the pipes and then filling the ditch in. Which yes, they'd need him for. Lugging dirt was a useful job. It felt odd and out of place to simply leave them to their work, so he'd asked if he could stay. There was no point leaving if the work was unfinished. They laughed at him, calling him a glutton for punishment. Two hours later, and the hole was smaller, just in need of more dirt to fill it in. While he hadn't done a whole lot aside from grunt work, Marcus still felt accomplished. It was just one more step towards being able to have his and Cass's wedding.
