Hollie lifted her head from the grass, her eyes blinking slowly as she woke up. When they became clearer, she took in the sunrise. The splashes of orange and pink as the sun rose were breathtaking, Hollie was glad she had always been an early riser. She never had to miss such a wonderful sight. Sunsets were lovely too but Hollie enjoyed the sunrises more, she wasn't completely sure why but perhaps it was because it was a sign of a new day beginning. A new start.
She rose to her legs gracefully, and shook her body in response, removing blades of green grass that had stuck to her during the night. The meadow, at this time of day, was quiet. It had been a good summer for them all so far, the plants that lived in these parts had grown well, the flowers bright and full of colours. The grass grew tall in some parts while the rest provided food. Rain had fallen from time to time and these parts were lucky that they didn't have to experience a drought. Mother Nature had been kind to them, this year.
Hollie nosed some plants, checking them over. She was close to nature, it was important for her to see it doing good. Though Hollie had never experienced a drought before, she had heard stories when she was younger and still caring for her mother. At the thought of her mother, memories flooded her mind and Hollie grew sad. She was stronger now, before she would have teared up or even cried and sometimes still did depending on the memory. Family was important to her and now, all she had was herself.
She turned away from checking over the plants and started heading towards the nearby river. It was time to clean up, eat, and find something entertaining before heading home for the night. Her walk was swift as she headed through the meadow, the sunrise still partially seen behind her, as the sun rose.
