Clerise had been running around getting loose ends tied up-- the patients were drugged to hell, and Clerise figured...well. She was friends with Otto, but he surely had more important people to be bothering. She had checked in on him-- and Sasha-- to make sure they were in one piece.

It was enough to satisfy her briefly, but the redhead kept thinking of the fact that...

Well. Otto had seemed a little broken. Which meant that she was worried. Because Clerise Nicole was a giant ********' softy.

So. Here she was.

Knocking on Otto's door in the Infirmary, deftly avoiding Sunny. Her threat to chop Clerise's legs off was still fully active.

"You there, Prodigy? Awake I mean?" Clerise's voice was soft in tone but loud enough to be heard across the room. She laid her head against the door, red hair against the wood, waiting on him. Equally red eyes watched him like a hawk.

He was probably ssssooooo high.

Otto was in one of those rare moments between bouts of sleep. Thank you drugs! All those times Otto had bad mouthed that division would be taken back. In this state between awake and sleep, Otto was docile. Spacey and docile. He stared mostly at the ceiling or off to the side, the back of his bed pushed up enough so he was in a semi seated position.

This was weird. Being stuck in this place was weird and alien, but definitely preferred over his last place of confinement. He at least knew this wouldn't last. Though his perception of time had been completely thrown askew.

He'd been lucky so far. No nightmares yet. Yet.

Someone's voice got his attention. A visitor? Oh, it was Clerise. He knew her nickname for him right off that bat. He sighed tiredly, rubbing his eyes at having to raise his voice at all so she could hear him. "Yeah.." He murmured as much as he could.

"You are the cutest thing ever," Clerise crooned, sliding across the room with a smile, taking a seat on the edge of his hospital bed. "You are also doped to high hell, aren't you?"

She leaned forward to ruffle his hair, and decided that he was kind of naked without his hat.

"How you feeling, other than high like a kite during a festival? You're talking, at least, which is a step up." Idly, she pressed the back of her hand to Otto's forehead, just checking his temperature, seeing if he was clammy.

Cute.. what? Otto blinked slowly, looking up as she sat down. Doped up? Well yes. Yes he was. He tried to narrow his eyes at her, but he simply ended up looking more tired. His grump faces just would not work while he was in this condition.

For the record, he also felt naked without his hat.

Otto flinched. contact of any kind seemed to make him do that a lot. His eyes closed momentarily at the sudden feeling of her hand on his forehead. He'd only been awake for a short time, so his temperature was still warmer than usual. Ah yes, that 'morning' glow. His eyes opened again, looking up past the arm of the redhead. "Sluggish." He replied flatly.

"Since when is my talkin' any kinda' good sign?" Well, despite his tired expression, the sass was back.

"You heard me," Clerise said with a grin, not moving any closer, even if she just wanted to give him a hug. All the hugs. Hugs for everyone, without stopping.

"That won't stop for a whileee, given the dosage they're giving you guys." Her eyes crinkled with her smile, listening to Otto's accent shine through like a lighthouse through fog.

"Well. It's better than you shivering like a lump. You're not even clinging to me any more. Baby steps, we're making progress." The tone is teasing, but it's not cruel. "I saw a Fake you," she said, abrupt. "He texted a lot."

Oh great. So he wouldn't feel coherent again for who knew how long. Well, as long as the deep, drug induced naps kept his nightmares at bay, it was allowed. Still, Clerise seemed way to fond of his state of being. He groaned softly and rubbed his face with a hand.

Wait.. what? "Clin..clingin'?" He asked, his voice small but slightly elevated in tone. When was he clinging to her? Surely she was making it u----.... Oh. Oh crap. He remembered.
Otto flushed a light red. "Dammit.."

The boy stared slightly bewildered as she spoke of a Fake Otto. He'd heard a small bit about what the rescue team had seen, so he just had to assume it was from it. "A fake me?" Texting a lot? Well he liked using Twitter once in a blue moon for shits and giggles, but that was it. Fake Otto must have been his reverse self or something. "Creepy.." He wasn't sure if he wanted to know what else this other Otto did.

Clerise snickered. "Yep. No need to squeak, Prodigy, it was...fine. But..." Her face softened. "I don't blame you."

She smoothed one last lock of straw yellow hair away from Otto's forehead before hopping up off the bed, choosing to drag the visitor's chair over and sit on it, instead. No reason to keep invading his bubble.

He wasn't going anywhere.

"Yeah. Pony put us in a dream, where our lives were...translated into a tv show." A wry smile. "I get the feeling she maybe coulda been real mean with it, given how convincing it was, when I found you." Clerise frowned. "You looked like you had given up."

Her sympathetic look garnered a bit of unease in otto. He wasn't sure if it was empathy or pity. Well, at least she wasn't rubbing in his dependance on her back then. He could pretend it didn't happen. The idea of him clinging to someone like a needy child added to the list of things making him feel nauseous.

One last doting motion and Clerise found a seat of her own. Otto shifted his legs and feet under the blanket slightly before leaning back again. He was thankful for human companionship, but even on drugs, he was on edge when others got close.

His expression while still tired seemed to deaden slightly at Clerise's observation of him during the time inside the cell. He'd indeed given up. He'd been so tired and jaded he was just sitting and waiting for death to release him. He nodded timidly in response. "You guys got it lucky."

A wry twist of her lips graced Clerise's face.

"Had a feeling."

She didn't want to rub in any of his trauma; he'd have a hell of a time coming to grips with things himself.

"Ponies suck," Clerise said, voice low, fingers gripping the edge of the chair, white knuckled. "I really am glad you're not like, human tetris pieces someone has to shuffle together."

The acrobat couldn't help it. She was tactile; all invasion of space (and sometimes privacy), touching and hugging and holding, half to make sure people were still there. Even if they hadn't gone missing for like, half a millennia in hunter time.

Ponies did suck. They were even meaner and more vicious than Otto could have imagined. And Medea, who he deemed the Horsemen Witch, was the most frightening. The old geezer that had been with her had also been unsettling. So ancient and resonating an evil aura.

Otto blinked slowly. Every time he did it was seemed like the length of time with his eyes closed got longer. It felt better than being terrified for every waking second, but he wondered how long it would be under this doped up state. It was hard to think.

"How long were we gone?" His perception of time had been warped beyond comprehension. He was somewhat curious to know.

"Like..."

Clerise started to count the days on her fingers.

"Almost two weeks, little man." Her face was inscrutable, for a moment. "Two weeks is a long time. In the normal world, they give up on kidnapped kids after like, the first twenty four hours."

She winced. "Uh, not that you're a kid. I just mean...after the first day, most of the time, they end up dead."

Clerise scrubbed at her face, digging into her pockets for a flask full of spiced rum. She gave a furtive glance around, just to check for spare Stephens and Sunnys, and took a pull. A grin crept onto her face. "If I give this to you, promise you won't do something stupid like let it get confiscated?"

She wagged a finger. "But you can't have any until you're less doped up. Maybe I'll just give it to you later..."

Two weeks?

What?

. . . .

What?

Otto slow blinked again, his eyes widening ever slightly. Maybe he'd heard that wrong. Maybe he'd pretend it had only been a day or two. It was easier on his stomach. Her factoids didn't help. Quite honestly he'd resigned himself to thinking no one would rescue them the moment he woke up in that place. He was surprised they came at all. Probably ulterior motives. The captives were an added bonus.. or annoyance.

The kid comment was ignored. He was too out of it to get cranky.

His tired blue eyes slid over to Clerise's hands as she presented a flask. She was offering a minor booze? Clerise just went up an awesome point in Otto's head. She had a point though. Even he wasn't dumb enough to consume alcohol while drugged up.

He nodded at the assurance he'd be 'good'. Keeping his lips tight wasn't difficult, really. Unless he was drunk. "Yeah.. later." He murmured quietly, his eyes still settled on the flask. He knew he was a lightweight when it came to booze. He'd have to be careful about having any around others. "Maybe when'm not stuck in here'r sumthin'."

"You heard me," Clerise intoned, raising a brow and taking a sip out of the flask. She appreciated the bite, letting the tang of alcohol hit her palette.

Capping the thing, the redhead solemnly pressed the metal container into Otto's hands, clasping her hands over his.

"I'm going to hold you to that," she replied in a sing-song voice, obviously perking up a little. "You're going to live up to that, drugged up promise or not." Clerise leaned forward onto the bed, folding one arm over the other, resting her head there.

"You can go back to sleep, if you want. I'll just hang out here a little while. I can try to fill you in on what's been going down-- it's been a lot of bricklaying and repairing s**t."

The acrobat waved a hand. "I saw H feeding a dove. It was weird."

Otto grasped the offered flask, staring at the hands clasped over his own. His gaze trailed up her arms and to her face, his head tilting and brows softly lowering in lieu of a glare. Of course he'd be good! Geez~ His drugged up promises were as good as.. non drugged promises. Totally.

His eyes fell as she used his bed as a head rest. He was tired, but that wouldn't change for a while. Otto wanted to try and increase how long his bouts of wakefulness were anyway.

And he wanted the company.

Bricklaying and repairing? "How bad did this place get it?" He asked sleepily, slipping the flask under his pillow.

He furrowed his brows softly. "A dove?"

She didn't buy his or his doped up promises, but that was okay. Clerise was sure she could extract them at a later date, possibly with noogie-ing involved.

"Uh. Holes. Everywhere. H's office was missing a wall-- there were a lot missing. The town got FUBAR'd--again-- and uh. The labs were ruined too." Clerise poked Otto's leg through his sheets.

"Yeah. A dove. He put out FOOD for it. We are going to have a re-enactment of the birds, and it is going to be horrifying. Because it will be H, with cooing doves, and all sorts of ridiculous bullshit."

A lazy smile graced her face. "I think the rebuilding is coming along nicely." Clerise nudged Otto again, starting to push him towards the edge of the bed. "Don't fall. Scoot your boot~"
