Who : Jezabroux and Phiel Where : Jezabroux's apartment When : Around 6 Weather : Still hot with a slight muggy wind
”Are they here yet?” Luka asked, looking over at his guardian in the kitchen from the living room. ”I can’t believe you met her guardian on the beach. At 4 AM, while swimming. That’s crazy. It doesn’t make sense that you two used to swim together either.” The satyr commented before returning his attention to the TV. Today’s documentary was a study on lion prides. Their hierarchy and basic social interactions, it was hard to understand a lot of the more complex scientific words that were being said, but Luka found it interesting all the same.
”Elai, why do people live in ones and twos? Why don’t we live in groups of 10 or 15 like lions?”
“Well… in some areas they do. It’s a little different than what you’re thinking though. In the past, and in some areas even today, people live together in numbers of fifty to over 200. They live in what we call are tribes. It’s very similar to a pride of lions. Except, when sleeping, the tribe would break off into smaller families. Like the groups of 1-3 that you’re accustomed to seeing in the city.” Jezabroux explained, giving the pad thai one last stir. Reaching for a nearby chopstick, the acupuncturist did one last taste test. When he was satisfied with the flavor, he placed a lid on the pan and turned off the flame. He’d let it sit there until they were ready to eat. “It’s a little more complicated than how I put it though. If you would like, I can always find you a documentary on it.” It hadn’t escaped his notice that his charge seemed to find watching documentaries the only acceptable reason for watching TV. “Luka, could you tell me what time it is? I think Phiel and Zurine will be here soon.”
”It’s 5:50. And yea, if you could, I would like that.” Getting off the couch, the Frei made his way towards the fridge. ”You actually think Zurine will eat those?” He asked, staring at the icicle pop molds in the freezer. ”What flavors did you make again?” he asked, shutting the freezer door.
“Well… I thought she may like them. If not, I can just eat them later. The first row is black cherry, second is strawberry and the last being grape.” He figured maybe, the raevan would enjoy something cold with a little bit of favor. And, he had the feeling Phiel would appreciate ice with fruit bits more than ice and artificial flavoring. "Well, everything is ready. Now we just need to wait for them to arrive." He said with a smile as he took of his apron and hung it on the side of the refrigerator.

Phiel had explained to Zurine what they were going to do this evening, and though Zurine was pleased to get the chance to further her acquaintance with Luka, whom she had met just recently, she was not so pleased to be dragged from her comfortable cool spot in front of the air conditioner. It was so humid, she half-complained as he bundled her into a windbreaker to keep in her chilly aura, zipping it up. It was his, and it dwarfed her, but with a little help she got the sleeves scrunched up so she could use her hands. For a moment Phiel stood back, looking at her, and then a smile curved his handsome face, slow and unfamiliar. "You look fine," he said softly. "How does that feel?"
Despite her complaining while Phiel had put it on her, the windbreaker did seem to help hold in the chill; it bounced her own temperature back to her, in the same way that it would bounce a normal human's warmth back to them. Putting up the hood, Zurine cuddled into it with relish. "I like this," she pronounced mildly, looking distinctly pleased with herself. "May I keep it?" She asked him politely, hopefully.
"Of course," Phiel agreed with a little laugh. "Let's get going, or we'll be late." Bundling both his dainty young charge and the brownies he'd baked (from a box, with only a few tweaks here and there) out the door, Phiel didn't even bother setting the alarm, though he did lock the door.
With Zurine not protesting the trip anymore, the car ride was surprisingly comfortable and happy, and they arrived at Jezabroux's place only five minutes late.

"They're late." Luka commented dryly, looking at the clock.
Jezabroux chuckled. "No need to be so critical, Luka. Five minutes is not that big a deal when considering this may be their first time in the area. Maybe, you should go outside and see if they're lost in the parking lot. Especially if their tardiness bothers you so much."
Luka took one look at the t.v. screen before flipping it off. Elai's suggestion was actually not that bad. And, he could use some fresh air anyways. "I guess I'll take a walk around the complex and see if they're lost or something." He grabbed his phone on his way out, just in case they happened to arrive while he went out.
Floating down the hall of their apartment complex building, Luka couldn't help but let out a little sigh. The air was hot, sticky, and even heavy. The weather hadn't been the best lately but this was somewhat of an overkill. He could feel the sweat beading on his forehead from the humidity. Maybe, it would've just been better to stay inside and wait for Zurine and her guardian.
Floating down the last flight of steps to the ground floor, Luka floated slowly on the side walk of the parklot. He could actually feel his ribbon WITHERING under the heat. Wiping away at the sweat on his forehead, he sighed again. In a way, he couldn't help but feel that this was some odd sort of punishment from his guardian for his impatient behavior before. And he had the feeling if he returned to the apartment without Zurine or Phiel, Elai would just tease him.
Standing under the shade of a large tree near the parking lot, Luka scanned for the familiar azure figure of Zurine.
