Fireheart loved her new title. Even though she was technically a Lady, being the daughter of the queen of the pride, she was also the Lead Hunter. Normally she'd have to watch out while heading out to the rouge lands to scout, getting questions from the other gypsies about where the Lady was going alone. She knew she could take care of herself, and now her additional title seemed to assure the pride that she would be okay to go out of the pride territory.

The freedom was bliss. It was something she valued immensely, and she knew not to abuse it. Her family and pride trusted her not to cause trouble outside of the pride's boundaries, especially with a few other prides close by. She usually patrolled outside the jungle, but today she decided to walk along the beach. Their pride had lands up against the ocean, but she rarely strolled along the sands that they didn't own.

Fireheart glanced around as she reached a rocky section. She had to go over it to reach the other side. With a few well-placed hops, she landed back on the sand and continued on. She certainly wasn't anywhere near her pride anymore, but there didn't seem to be any signs of any other animals. Very odd.

Van had been hanging around the beaches for a short time now. He enjoyed the sheer size of the ocean. Every time he laid eyes on it the god swore it got bigger. Bara would tell him that it was all in his head but Van knew something must be up. Of course, there was nothing up what so ever. Van had been perched on a rock very close to where Fireheart appeared. Bara was using the cubs horn as a perch to rest.

Something came in to view.

A god? Another god? There sure were a lot of gods here in the mortal realm. Van stretched his wings out first before getting up and doing a cat stretch him self. He jumped and semi glided toward the bigger 'god'. Unlucky for Van, his landing needed work as he flopped belly first on to the hard sand below.

"FFfffff." He stayed down, sprawled out, for a few moments. And then he was up as if nothing had happened.

"Miss !" The god cub chirped, "Miss ! I didn't realize other gods came here. This place is mine though," He grinned, "I've decided this. Sorry but no room to share."

Bara had been fluttering over head since Van had clumsily landed on the beach. The bird let out a squawk. He knew this was no god. Van was mingling with mortals now. This was a disaster. The bird circled over head.

Fireheart plodded over to the water and sat down on the damp sand. She enjoyed watching the waves and listening to them crash against the sand. The color reminded her so much of her soon-to-be mate Vodnitvar, with the various shades of blues and hints of green. It made her smile a bit to think about the older male resembling the sea since he enjoyed sleeping on the beaches rather than in the caves like the rest of the pride.

Her ears swiveled back as a soft noise suddenly caught her attention. Someone else was here. She whipped around just in time to see a beige cub pick himself up off the ground. Oh...that wasn't bad. Just a cub. Perhaps he was...lost...wait.

She frowned a bit as he came closer. Were those wings? And a horn? What...she must be imagining things. But then the cub spoke and...oh dear. She held her ground, feeling rather trapped with the cub in front of her and the ocean behind her. She doubted he could do much, but who knew what he was the god of? He might have some kind of powers...oh dear...

"I am not a god," she said, clearing that up right off the bat. "And you don't need to worry about that. This is the rouge lands and no one owns this area." Well, now this cub did, apparently. "My pride is about a twenty minute walk down the beach back in that direction." She nodded her head the way she had come from, a wary look on her face.

This place belonged to no one was what he should of heard. But that registered as all the more reason this place is mine. Very immature logic for a very immature god. Van peered up at this mortal.

"This can't be right. You look like a god to me. We have a lot of the same features." Aside from a horn and wings of course. But Van had known some gods to have none of these features. It was true that if this was a god before him she had very boring features. Aside from her markings that was. Van looked her up and down and gave her a grin.

"If you are a mortal its nice to meet you. I'm Van. I'm a god. God of ... ithomence? Icooooocents? Something like that. Not important," He was still grinning from ear to ear. By this time Bara had landed back on his masters horn. The hawk was giving Fireheart the eye. The avians head was cocked to the side very interested.

"Inomnence I think. Yeah. That. I m not really sure what that means but I m pretty sure its the best kind." He folded his wings neatly to his sides. "But WOWWIE. A mortal!" Van was now in a play bow. His rear wiggled happily behind im.

Fireheart wasn't sure if she should be flattered for being mistaken for a god. She knew that she was very ordinary as far as lions went, even if her markings were a bit elaborate. Her coloring wasn't terribly unusual and her personality wasn't insane or evil, as some lions were. Obviously this cub was rather new to the whole 'mortal' scene.

Van, god of Inomnence. Was that even a word? Perhaps it was some kind of...disease. That didn't really fit his look, though. Usually gods reflected what they ruled over, and if she was being completely honest, he looked too cute to be the god of something bad. Green eyes flicked up to the bird that landed on Van's horn, and she stared it down for a while while the cub continued to speak. Birds always freaked her out a bit with their intense stares.

"Yes, I am a mortal," she said as he glanced back down at Van, who looked far more excited than she felt. "I'm Fireheart. It's very nice to meet you as well, Van. Forgive me if I'm not sure what Inomnence is. Could you explain it?" How could a god not know what they ruled over? Very odd...then again, Van was just a cub. Maybe it was a long word he couldn't pronounce.

"Is that your bird?" she added, nodding to the hawk. She hoped so. It was white and matched Van fairly well, so it was possible it was a familiar.

"You know. Imonencence." He looked at her very seriously. Bara squawked a little with laughter.

"Innocence," The bird corrected him.

"Thats what I said. Inotmencence." The word just wouldn't form in his maw properly. The mortal had a name. Fireheart. Van liked that. "Oh yes. Baras my bird. He follows me everywhere. I don't know why but he likes sticking around," The god stretched his wings a little.

"So are there many gods around here? Where I'm from there are a TON. There aren't any mortals though," Van eyed her. Fireheart was the first mortal aside from Bara he'd ever laid eyes on and he had to admit that he was impressed.

"You mortals look like gods. Thats strange. Why is that?"

Fireheart tilted her head a bit as Van tried again. She wondered if he realized he was saying a different word each time. Probably not. The bird corrected him, though, and she relaxed a bit. The god of innocence...good. That wasn't a disease. It fit his rather adorable demeanor and appearance. This was a god that she wouldn't mind having around, to be honest, especially as she and Vodnitvar were trying for cubs. She knew innocence was valuable for cubs to keep until they reached a certain age.

"I see now," she said with a tiny smile, relaxing now that she knew Van wasn't going to strike her down with some plague. She glanced up at the bird again, wondering why a normal bird would hang out with a god. Ah well..Van seemed like he could use some guidance. Although birds were creepy, she knew they were incredibly smart.

"I haven't seen any since I was a cub," she said, shaking her head slightly. "I've heard stories of gods roaming around down here, though. I'm sure there's a few nearby. You're the first cub god I've ever seen or heard of, though." Usually gods were adults but...as the god of innocence, it seemed to fit.

His questions were quite interesting to her in all actuality. "I'm not sure there's a real reason," she said with a little shrug. "Gods are like mortals but with powers and domains...perhaps you should ask one of your own kind that question. I'm no priestess or religious lioness. I don't have answers like that. But I do know you can attract a lot of unwanted attention with your current appearance. Gods can appear to be mortals and it helps you blend in until you wish to have your status apparent. It might come in handy while walking around here."

The news that this lioness had not seen a god since she was a cub actually shocked Van. He couldn't even fathom not seeing a god. For what ever reason the god cub was convinced that gods were more open and willing to be around mortals. But as he listened to this older lioness he was learning this was not the case. He stayed silent.

"Blend in~" Bara happily nibbled on one of Vans ears as he squawked happily, "I've been telling him this. Does he listen? Noooo." The bird squawked happily.

"Blend in. Why would I do that?" This concept seemed to not be sticking completely to the cub. He frowned. "How do I do that?" His head lowered slightly. He was a little confused by all of this. Blending in.

"Is it like a game with mortals?" The cubs ears lifted and all of a sudden he had a very bright smile again.

Fireheart snorted quietly as the bird - the bird! - agreed with her. Maybe this one wasn't so bad. He was kind of keeping an eye out for the young god, after all. That was pretty noble of him. She padded forward a bit and sat down in front of Van, surveying the wings and the horn. Other than that, he looked normal enough to pass for a mortal. Some gods, she had heard, looked so completely different from a 'normal' lion that they really had to work to appear mortal.

"There's lots of reasons," she said, but was cut off by the cub. She gave him a slightly annoyed look - she was trying to help, after all - but he seemed to catch on all on his own. A game...well, she supposed it could be looked at like that, if that's what it was going to take to get him to understand.

"Yes," she said slowly, trying to figure out the best way to explain. "It's like hide and seek. You can see how they act...some mortals won't be friendly towards gods, especially little ones. And then, if you decide they're nice, you can surprise them. Wouldn't that be fun?"

She hoped the warning would be heeded. She had no idea what might happen to the juvie if he got into a fight with an adult mortal. He was a god, certainly, but...well. He was the god of innocence. He probably wouldn't know any better.

The warning wasn't completely lost on Van. Not completely. However, it was a little unclear if he understood just how serious it was to conceal his identity.

"Oh I get it," Van gave the female an excited nod. "So its a special thing. Okay umm lets see..." He paused and thought hard. Concealing ones self. Now how did he do that again? The god closed his eyes and thought really hard. As he did so, the gods wings and horn grew more and more transparent until they were completely gone.

The moment he opened his yes, however, they reappeared. Van didn't seem to notice.

"I think I did it ~" He wiggled happily around Fireheart. Bara was soaring high above the two and circling at this point.

"I like this game ~" Practice would be needed. Lots and lots of practice.

Fireheart watched as Van tried to hide his wings and horn. He seemed to get it, but as soon as he opened his eyes...poof. Right back in place. She had to smile at his excitement and pride in himself, and honestly, he had a right to be. It was certainly his first time doing that, and she knew she had no hope of doing anything similar. Her disappearing act consisted of mud and twigs, and really it was more hiding than actually disappearing.

"Well..you certainly are on the right path," she said, reaching out to press her paw against his horn to bob his head a bit. She wasn't sure if she was allowed to touch a god, but if she were, she certainly wouldn't get in trouble with this one. "Maybe try a bit harder? I'm not sure I'm the best one to teach you this but...I don't know. Maybe focus on keeping them invisible?"

That seemed to be how he had done it earlier. Focusing all his efforts on making the horn and wings slowly fade away. She wondered for a moment if they actually disappeared, or just became invisible.
