Where was that brother of hers? He had promised to spend time with her today. Not that Lapin overly enjoyed spending time with Syrrin, but with Aunt Mercy gone, Olo gone back to the shrine for a while Lapin had little choice. She could have played with Poe but her sister was not feeling adventurous today, big shock there, and Lapin desperately wanted to do something fun and exciting. Now all she had to do was find her brother. She could go off on her own, it wouldn't be the first time she had done so, but the foal did like to bother Syrrin sometimes so this seemed like a good opportunity. She would get to play and bug Syrrin all at the same time!

"Syrrin!" She called out but there was no answer. Of course not, he was probably being mean again and hiding from her. Stupid Syrrin. She kicked a clump of grass in frustration. Just then she heard something and froze. Was that...snoring? Following the sound Lapin found her older brother curled up in the long grass taking a nap. He was always sleeping! Well, she knew just how to wake him up. Taking a number of steps back from his sleeping form Lapin lowered her head and rushing forward, colliding into Syrrin with her horns before tumbling from the impact over his back and into the grass. Okay, that hurt more than she had expected it would.

"But your so pret..." The stallion mumbled in his sleep, a bit of drool escaping his mouth as one hind leg twitched in the midst of his dream. It was a wonderful dream too - involving a fair haired beauty, a mare so stunning that it would put Olo's mare to shame! And she was coming right for him, calling out his name "Syrrin!"...granted her voice sounded a bit childish but considering how pretty she was he could overlook that. She was trotting now and almost to him...BAM! A tree! A tree came out of nowhere and....Jerking awake Syrrin jumped to his feet, fleeing from the tree that was obviously falling on him..when he realized that he had been dreaming.

Confused he looked around to see what had woken him up ..and spotted the squirming form of Lapin on the ground. Putting two and two together Syrrin's eyes narrowed "Why you little!" He started, storming towards her with flattened ears and the intention of disciplining her.

Lapin tried to get up before her brother did but her entire body felt tingly. Weird. Though her back was turned to him Lapin could tell that her brother was awake and moving. She heard his hooves his the ground and listened to the sound of his hasty retreat before coming to a stop. Slowly she got to her feet. "I'm okay." She said though she wasn't convinced of that nor did she sound very convincing. Her legs were unstable underneath her and when she took the first step she fell down. "Ouch." Rolling over she looked up at her brother. Oh dear her looked mad. But it wasn't her fault! If he wasn't sleeping when he was supposed to be playing with her then she wouldn't have had to wake him up.

Still her ears pinned back against her skull waiting for his scolding amid the pounding of her head. Note to self, never do that again. Perhaps she should have just let him sleep and gone off on her own...again! No, it wasn't fair. Syrrin was her brother and he should act like it. He was always mean to her, even now she could tell he was about to yell at her some more. If Olo was here he'd have stayed awake and more than willing gone out to play with her. But not Syrrin, no he was a big meany that slept all the time. Lapin's lower lip stuck out in a pout as she thought of how much she didn't like the way Syrrin treated her. Go ahead and yell, she thought, it's the only thing you ever do with me.

Syrrin stomped towards his younger sister with the full intention of yelling at her - and maybe even giving her a good n** or two, she was old enough now to know better then to treat her elders like that! But when she stood up and then fell down again well...his anger began to fade into concern. He'd expected her to jump up and go running off to escape his fury. That's what he'd wanted her to do..just run off and play somewhere else...but Lapin laying on the ground just wasn't normal and his ears flicked slightly and his stomping stride hesitated a little bit as he neared her and she still didn't run off.

He still half expected her to be teasing him, make him worried for her and then jump up and run off laughing - it was a very Lapin like thing to do..but she still couldn't help but ask her anyways, she was his little sister after all no matter how annoying she could be at times. "Hey...are you okay?"

Here it comes. Look how angry he looks. Boy he sure is gonna yell a lot. If only I could get up and run away, she thought. But her head still hurt so instead of doing what came naturally to her, which was to run, she remained laying down for a bit longer. Lapin took a deep breath, waiting for his first angered words to hit her and then...he asked if she was okay. Wait, what? Did her brother just show some small amount of concern for her? Very strange. She must have hit her head a lot harder than she had first thought. Rolling onto her belly Lapin looked up at Syrrin. At least now the pain was lessening, oh it was still present, but no longer overwhelming her. "Yeah, I guess I am." Slowly she got to her feet careful not to move too quickly, something that was completely out of character for her. "You are very hard." She stated in regards to what it had felt like to run into him.

Good thing Poe wasn't here or she would have never heard the end of it. She loved her sister with all her heart but sometimes Lapin got annoyed that she was constantly worried over how unsafe Lapin was, constantly warning her to slow down or look out. Of course after today's incident maybe that was some advice she should take to heart.

Syrrin watched as his sister tried to get to her feet in a manner completely unlike her - slowly and carefully. She must had hurt herself a good deal more then he had originally thought. His mother was going to kill him. Still at the fillies remark he had to chuckle a little bit "Yes well your horn's aren't exactly soft either" He told her, nosing at his side where she had hit him. "But for future reference...next time you try to gore someone, try not to aim for bones, bones are hard" He stated..though he had to question the wisdom of telling Lapin the proper way to headbutt someone, odds were that he would be the target of said headbutt. Oh well.

"I should probably take you home to mom..." He started "Make sure you didn't really hurt yourself, it's not good to hit your head like that.." He went on, eyeing her critically for a few more moments.

"I wasn't trying to gore you, just wake you up!" Lapin exclaimed, though she certainly did lock his little tidbit of information away for future reference. She wasn't normally into violence but with an annoying big brother like Syrrin then this type of thing might be worth knowing. Wouldn't he be pleasantly surprised when they next time she did this type of thing it was done properly. Then he's really be hurting. Ah but then he would definitely yell at her, though Lapin was sadly used to that fact.

"But I'm FINE." She knew she wasn't. Her head still hurt quite a bit but Lapin saw this as Syrrin scoffing his brotherly duties yet again. She even took a couple of steps to show him that she was okay, he didn't need to know about the pounding in her head. Then she let out a sigh and started to walk towards home, head held low. "Might as well go home, you never want to play with me anyways. All you do with sleep and yell at me." Maybe Poe would want to play a nice quiet game, anything would be good at this point. Plus if Syrrin brought her home hurt then Syrrin would definitely take the blame on it, and if he told mom he was sleeping when he was supposed to be watching her then he would be in even bigger trouble. Perhaps going home to mom wasn't such a bad idea after all.

"Well you know you could have just yelled in my ear or something!" He pointed out in exasperation and then rolled his eyes slightly as she made a big deal about being fine only to turn and start sulking off towards him - if she was fine enough to play the guilt trip then she was probably fine to stay and play he supposed. Plus he really didn't want to explain to his mother how she had gotten hurt, if he played with her then maybe she'd forget about the whole thing.

"I do too play with" He told her, trotting up to cut her off "I'll prove it! I'll play with you right now! What do you want to play?" If it kept him from getting yelled at then he was willing to play some of her silly foal games, no matter how annoying or boring they would be. Man it really sucked that Mercy had left, if she were still here Lapin would be playing with her instead of bothering him all the time,

"You'd yell at me if I yelled at you." She threw back him him. See even now he was yelling at her over not yelling at him. He didn't make any sense! This was why she usually played by herself or with Poe, Syrrin just wasn't worth the hassle. When he came trotting up stopping her to insist that he would play with her now she snorted lightly. Lapin may be young but she could see what he was doing, he didn't want to get in trouble with mother, which he surely would if they told her Lapin got hurt because Syrrin was sleeping on the job. Seeing mother yell at Syrrin would certainly be a highlight for her. Refusing to let her smile show Lapin stepped around her mother.

"No, I don't think I want to play. My head hurts and like you said mom should look at me." In truth she did want to play, and she didn't want mom to know she got hurt cause then all the fun she would normally have would go slipping away. Mother tended to give her freedom to explore but this kind of thing would put a quick end to that. But threatening to go back to mom and tell her what happened would put Syrrin in a pinch. Plus she wanted to see him squirm and do just about anything to get out of this mess that he had gotten himself into. And if he didn't, well she would take stock in the fact that she would get him in deep, deep trouble.

Syrrin fought with himself not to glare at his little sister, he loved her, he loved all of his family but she could be so blasted annoying at times..and manipulative, she was manipulating him right now, he was smart enough to see that. Well two could play at that game. "Well..if your that hurt then I suppose its for the best." He agreed before starting off towards home, knowing that his mother would likely be in the area. It was like a game of chicken - both of them knew they didn't really want their mother to find out what would happen...but who would cave and admit it first?

Syrrin was convinced it would be Lapin - the idea of being stuck at home 'resting' for the rest of the day would absolutely kill her. What was the worst that could happen to him? He'd get yelled at, he could deal with being yelled at and anyways he was an adult so he could just leave whenever he wanted. It wasn't like his mother could ground him or anything.

For a moment Lapin thought he had given up. The fact that he was so willing to take her home and get into trouble shocked her. That wasn't like Syrrin at all, normally he would turn around and do whatever was necessary to not get in trouble. Wait a minute! He was doing to her what she was trying to do to him. Well, she wasn't about to fall for that. He wouldn't want to get in trouble. Mother may be quite easy on them whenever they did something wrong but she knew the one thing that got her anger boiling was when siblings hurt each other or ignored their responsibilities to one another. And so, he would no only be in trouble but major trouble if they made it all the way home. But Lapin wasn't a fool either, she knew that if they did make it home, and even if Syrrin got into trouble she would be forced to rest for the remainder of the day, which was something she refused to do.

Stealing herself she began the slow walk home, making sure to keep her pace slow not only to emphasize that she was hurt but to put off the inevitable moment when they either both experienced what they didn't want to have happen or when one of them caved. It would be Syrrin who would cave first, she was certain of it. Lapin cast a quick sideways glance at her brother before continuing the march home, head held low.

Ah so she was going to play this game was she - and look at the way she was hanging her head and limping along like she was at death's doorsteps. What a manipulative little filly! Oh sure he knew that she was hurt a little bit but he was fairly certain she was way overplaying her hoof. On the plus side if she continued the act and kept on acting that hurt she'd probably have to rest for far longer then she really needed.

Well he could play that game too and he put a hitch in his stride - she had run into him after all and his side hurt, when he told their mother how she had used her horns against him she was sure to get into trouble as well. Horns were weapons and Syrrin knew that mother had given her lectures about using them responsibly before. "I'm sure we'll find mother in the grove... Should I call for one of the herds companions to go and fetch her..maybe you shouldn't walk the whole way." He asked, upping the ante a little bit and pausing, lifting his head as though to search the trees for one of the songbirds that lived in the area and might be willing to go and fetch their mother.

This was so hard! Each step that brought them closer to home the more Lapin began to panic inside. What if they made it all the way? Sure Syrrin would get in trouble but then she would need to rest all day and she did not want to do that! It seemed they were each playing the game to see which one would break first and like it or not Lapin was beginning to think that she would be the one to break. Much as she wanted to get him in trouble for scoffing his brotherly duties it wasn't worth it if she had to lay around for the rest of the day. It was so unfair! Why couldn't he just be a good brother to begin with, then things like this would never have to happen.

She couldn't help but cringe at his suggestion. If they got the herd companions involved there would be no getting out of this. But she couldn't let him win either. Her mind raced on how to win this little battle. "I can make it." She told him with a bit of confidence. "It's only my head that's hurt." Not quite the statement she had been looking to make but it would hopefully stale him for that extra moment while she could think of something else. "Besides, if they tell her she will only become more worried than if we go to her ourselves." That might make him rethink, if mom came racing out to find out what had happened then surely her panic over Lapin's injuries would only insight more anger directed towards Syrrin at not watching her. It was a win lose situation no matter how they went about it. Not waiting for him to reply Lapin began to walk once more, still headed for home but there was an obvious tenseness in her body knowing the cut off point was coming up for one of them to break if they both didn't want to get in trouble.

Syrrin watched Lapin carefully after he made his suggestion - and was more then a little bit surprised that the little filly hadn't called this act off and suggested they go back to the meadow yet. Up ahead Syrrin could see the corner, the place where the path turned toward home and opened up slightly, if anyone were standing around near home then they would surely see them then.

Which left him with a limited time frame in which to try and convince the filly to call this off herself. He sure wasn't going to loose to a little foal! "Your right of course, you keep walking and I'll trot on ahead and go fetch mom, then we'll get you looked at sooner and she won't panic like she would if the familiar's tell her." He told Lapin with a brotherly smile. "Just keep walking! I'll be right back!" He stated with an encouraging tone to his voice before he picked up his pace and started to trot down the trail. He expected to only get a few paces before she called him back. Surely she wouldn't actually go through with this nonsense!

This was getting so hard! She could see the spot up ahead where everything would go badly. She wanted so badly to get Syrrin in trouble but was it truly worth what she would need to go through? Honestly Lapin was beginning to second guess her idea of playing along with his game, by now she could have been miles away playing in a field by herself exploring some new area instead of fretting about the possibilities of being made to rest for a day or two. At his suggestion and then trotting off Lapin stopped, her mouth agape. He was truly going to tell mom! This was not what she expected to happen at all! Suddenly she wasn't feeling so good, not from her slamming into Syrrin earlier, in fact her head felt fine, but she felt sick to think about laying around for a few days while mother circled overhead. Watching Syrrin trot off only made it worse.

With a light whimper Lapin laid down in the middle of the path. One of two things would happen, Syrrin would see her there and call the whole thing off or he would keep going and then once he was out of sight she would run as fast as she could and get as far away as possible before mother got here. She was hoping for the latter, as she wasn't sure if she wanted to deal with Syrrin anymore today, if at all.
