Painite glanced at the clock inside the shop she was sitting beside. The glowing light said it was nearing three in the morning. Not the latest she had ever been up, but she was feeling it tonight. Tired, but only in a sleepy way. Her body wanted to find some fun, but with how quiet it had been Painite was doubting that would happen.
She sighed and stretched, her spear over her shoulders. She had it behind her neck, her arms draped over the wood as if she were hauling water from a well. It was dark and the light on this particular street corner had been burnt out.
It was a good place to lurk, but only in theory.
No one would see here, but then, no one was around. So that made it kind of a moot point that she could hide in some cool shadows and find the perfect hiding spot. There was no one to hide from.
She sighed and debated just turning in for the night. The constant hunts were getting her a little beaten down, anyway. She needed to keep herself awake and strong, and well rested. She would wait for a little while longer, though, just in case.
it was such a nice spot.

There wasn’t too terribly much to do at this hour, so Remarque had taken to expanding his horizons. Earlier in the evening he’d dabbled in his usual spots—gotten some energy, been on his merry way. He’d collected a bit less than he had expected, and that meant it was time to move on. His usual haunts had, perhaps, caught on to his late night rendezvous. Which meant it might be best to try a few new ventures.
Remarque had meandered about as he attempted to find a suitable hunting ground for the evening, and had wasted an hour a good few blocks away trying to do so. Refusing to let tonight be so fruitless, Remarque decided it was time to try again.
He had avoided exploring areas he was too familiar with while powered up; there were a few places he just avoided all together. Anywhere Jett Draven was likely to go, Remarque did not venture.
But, he’d played it safe for this many months—he could spare a few luxuries. Especially if there was energy involved. He knew the location of many mirrors, yet for all the mirrors he had traveled through, there were still many he had yet to try.
He selected, at random, a part of town he liked to wander around when he had free time during the day. Stepping through a mirror he’d passed dozens of times, Remarque found himself greeted with the energy signature of another agent of chaos.
One that he could not seem to see.
He was not inclined to keep himself quiet or to ignore the presence—and, to be fair, if he had, he might have just lost his mind in boredom. Casually brushing himself off once he was out of the mirror, he scanned the area to try and locate the Negaverser. When he saw nothing again, he called, ““Didn’t realize this place was such a hot spot for late night activity. Is this a nice place to spend the early morning or did I pick a good time to drop by?”

"You just lucked out, running into me," Painite purred, stepping out from the shadows, her spear resting over her shoulder. She smiled at the dark senshi, tilting her head at him.
"Though this place doesn't have much life in it, apart from us. It is a wonderful place to hide and set up traps, save that critical bit of having someone fall into them." She sighed, looking a little forlorn in the gloom, resting her head against her spear.
She liked her traps, and her fun.
"What brings you out so late, then? Besides the obvious. I think we both had similar goals at first." Gathering energy, doing the rounds, fighting the 'good' guys. They weren't so different, really.
She liked the dark senshi, as well as corrupt ones. She liked anything that sided with Chaos, really, because it meant they would help get rid of those miserable White Mooners. And anyone or anything that did that was okay in her book.

Well, now—that was a new face. And not a bad one, either. Remarque turned his gaze to face the General and was promptly reminded why he should be glad he was a Dark Mirror Senshi. Aside from being spared all that mislead garbage the White Moon was so keen on spreading, this would have been a trap he might have walked all too easily into.
He liked to think there was nothing he didn't stand a chance against, but the Negaverse certainly seemed to have the upper hand with all of their nice, shiny weapons.
"Just the obvious," he replied; there wasn't much more to it. Her goal seemed a bit more nefarious than his—but only because she was the one wielding a spear and lurking in shadows. "Got tired of the old haunt, thought I'd try something new. I don't believe we've met," he noted, thinking it a fine time for introductions. "Remarque," he greeted. "And you are…?"

Kyuseisha no Hikari "Just the obvious," he replied; there wasn't much more to it. Her goal seemed a bit more nefarious than his—but only because she was the one wielding a spear and lurking in shadows. "Got tired of the old haunt, thought I'd try something new. I don't believe we've met," he noted, thinking it a fine time for introductions. "Remarque," he greeted. "And you are…?" Staff Corporal Saddles was a part of Painite. She believed in her weapon as much as she did herself, and often thought of it as another limb. A part of her being, that she depended on when she held it. Of course, she trained without it just in case, but her natural instincts and the most fun she got out of a battle came from using that sharp and beautiful weapon she cherished.
It had come a long way since she was a Lieutenant and it was a Hobby Horse, but then, she had grown just as much.
She smiled and him and held her hand out.
"General Painite," she said. She loved the sound of her title, even on her own accented voice. She heard enough people saying her name without the rank attached, and it was enough as usually they were scared or upset because they were enemies, but the only time she heard her rank was if she was talking to other Negaversers.
Maybe she was being a little vain today.
The short haired, English warrior of Chaos watched the Dark senshi with interest.
"What's your sphere, then, Remarque? Do you have some of that annoying magic that most senshi have. Though, coming from Chaos it must be much cooler than theirs, right?" She leaned on her staff now, watching him with a languid stance and an amused, but interested, expression.

Painite's introduction was a fair reminder that he ought to tack on his full title in introductions. And here he was, thinking he might try being modest. It simply wasn't for Remarque; he took far too much pride in all that he had achieved since joining the Dark Mirror Court. Certainly he could have gone the extra mile to give his full introduction then, but then he would have missed Painite asking to know more about him.
He took the woman's hand and gave a firm shake; you could tell a lot about a person based on their handshake, and Remarque wasn't going to let her down with a limp hand shake.
"Much cooler," he confirmed, mimicking her expression. "Puppetry," he elaborated; there was little reason to go into detail, and she might have been an ally but it hardly seemed the time to break down the mechanics of what it was, precisely, that he did. "And for being annoying magic, it's come in handy on more than one occasion."
Her demeanor was unlike that of any Negaverse Agent he'd come across before—for which he found himself surprisingly relieved. It wasn't the sort of thing he'd been worried about, but there was a certain amount of pleasure left to be derived from an encounter where you are not being attacked by someone you thought you could trust. "I take it you're not one of the Negaversers who dislikes senshi of any kind?"

Painite watched him. She liked to learn about the senshi they do have on their side, as it was much easier to get the information she wanted out of them since they were willing. White Moon senshi were all tight lipped or too busy screaming.
Really, senshi were fascinating. And learning about them would give her an advantage when she wanted to fight them. The more she knew, the bigger that advantage. Too bad they were all like the special snowflakes they thought they were, so none of their magic really matched up with others.
She was learning, though, that their fukus gave away hints to what their powers might be. Sometimes. And their spheres as well. If she could get better at sussing these things out, she would be a better fighter, killer, of senshi all around.
"I like senshi. I mean. Whoa, let's take that back before it goes all out of context on me. Blood hell. I hate senshi, but only the ones that fight for the White Moon. I hate knights even more. Order is insufferable. But chaos? Chaos is my ally, and yours as well. So why should we fight? Anyway, you seem cool enough."
She made a face at him, teasing and flirty at once.

Remarque watched the general, lips curled lightly to form a very slight smile. 'I like senshi' was not something he would have expected to fall from anyone's lips, and while he liked flattery as much as the next person—scratch that, at least twice as the next person—too much too soon left him suspicious.
Still, a compliant, interested and non-hostile member of the Negaverse was interesting enough that he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity for conversation just because past experiences had left him a tad closer to paranoia. "Everyone seems to have something against knights," he noted. Leto had her grudge against them and had vowed slaughter, but the Negaverse, too? Those guys were screwed.
Senshi he could forgive—sometimes. Senshi were poor, mislead individuals that couldn't help their circumstances. They just needed a little salvation—which the Dark Moon was more than ready to provide. Knights, though—what redeeming features than they have? Other than big mouths. "…Your lot has been around for longer than ours. Haven't you found a use for them, yet?"

Painite was a creature of fun and comfort, of good times and of mothering her brood of Lieutenants. She loved going out and wrecking the day for any White Moon that crossed her, just as much as she did training and working with the newer members of the Negaverse. And in between all that she never failed to have a good time.
Because if one was not having fun in what they did, they were doing it wrong.
"Knights are stupid," she said simply, with a shrug of her shoulders. Sure enough, there had to be more of an explanation than that for others. Hell, even she must have had a better reason for her hatred than that, but she did not share it. It was enough that they were White Moon, and they ran around all the time, flapping their gums about how brainwashed and pitiable the Negaverse was.
It was nauseating.
"A use for the knights? No. Besides adornments for the end of my spear. But then, Senshi are not much better. Anyway, those stupid knights haven't been around that long, either. They're just loud about it. What about your lot? All I hear is you trying to whisk the senshi vermin off this planet and off to others. Which is all fine and good, but it sounds very tedious and round about when you can just as soon be rid of them the old fashioned way."
Painite was all about the old fashioned way.

Remarque kept his complacent smile even as he listened to Painite. As a general, he figured her words were to be taken seriously. She wasn't some new lieutenant, unsure of what was really going on. She knew what she had gotten herself into—and was the closest thing to a reliable source as he figured the Negaverse had to offer.
"Perhaps," he acknowledged. "Though I am of the belief that the extra effort will be worth it. We can achieve more with greater numbers. Besides," he shrugged. "I enjoy challenging the foundation they've built their own little world on. There's a certain satisfaction to derive from crushing that foundation that I suspect impaling them on a spear wouldn't quite bring. But," he leaned back, taking a slight pause as he considered actually spearing someone before concluding, "To each their own. Tell me though—the Negaverse has been around for longer than the Dark Mirror Court—you've yet to find anything to do with the knights?"
While he was reluctant to consider disposing of them, he was not oblivious to the fact that just as there were senshi who would rather die than join the Dark Mirror Court, there would be knights unable to abandon their White Moon Post.
Senshi could be saved—but knights? If the Negaverse hadn't found a use for them, how could they benefit the Dark Moon Court? Perhaps it might be best to just pick them off, get rid of them. Hell, if there was no hope for them—why should they keep them around ? Especially if their only purpose was getting in the way.

"You clearly haven't been stabbing the right people," she grinned at him and winked.
"But you do the foundation rattling, and I'll skewer them as they fall. You can take the ones I miss," she felt that was a fair metaphorical trade. She smiled at him, though she arched her eyebrow at his question and wrinkled her nose a bit in distaste.
"Knights are even worse. They pretend that they're better than us, that they understand us," she meant the Negaverse, of course, "but they are just the Senshi's dogs. They spout off about peace and Order and how the world is just a big, squishy place where we all can hold hands and get along, but they are just like the rest of us. If the other side doesn't listen to them, they bust out the weapons. Knights are miserable, failed versions of true soldiers, and they should be wiped out."
Maybe Painite was bitter that the knights and the negaverse really were connected. She'd learned that, through purification, a nega could become a knight. As if there were a worse fate out there.

Painite seemed strong in her conviction, and Remarque found it very difficult to doubt her words. Even if he could skip the part about stabbing. "I suppose. You don't think, then, that soldiers can be made out of them? At the very least, now they are a nuisance. I would think Chaos could correct them in the same way that in can correct the senshi." He shrugged; even if Chaos could cure what the White Moon had wrought upon the other senshi and knights, he wasn't even sure if he wanted the presumptuous morons as his allies.
Of the knights he had met that he could tolerate, all had quickly lost favor with him. Camelot's attack had greatly damaged Remarque's views of the knights, however he supposed he shouldn't have been getting soft on them to begin with.
There were some knights which he didn’t mind—Valhalla and Sutai. But Valhalla was too generous with his information, and Sutai was too naïve to belong in any sort of war. For the most part, he agreed that knights served little purpose, but outright eradicating them seemed wasteful. Did they not have information, energy, skills—something they could utilize?
"…I suppose it might not even be worth it, though. Not if they would bring their pig-headed ideals among the ranks. Perhaps I am simply an optimist." Or perhaps simply an opportunist investing too much thought into an idea destined to fail.

Painite shrugged. She was not so much for the actual recruitment of enemies, but she did have a tolerance for them once they were on her side. She liked corrupted senshi, and dark senshi though there was no real distinction between them in her mind, though she had never really considered a knight.
She didn't want to correct them. Or share anything with them, certainly not her power. She just wanted them dead.
"Optimism has it's place! If you can think of a good use for them, I'll try it. But for now I like the idea of making large skewers out of them. One day I dream of kebab-ing two on one spear."
She grinned wickedly and laughed. She'd never thought about that before, but now that she said it, it did sound like it would be a fun goal to one day accomplish. And it was always good to have goals.

Remarque blinked, offering a half-assed laugh in response. Of all the times he'd been glad he wasn't a member of the White Moon, this conversation was certainly a powerful reinforcer. "Two on a spear," he noted, and then nodded. "Well—I'll wish you the best of luck with that." Her spear certainly was long enough to do it—and she obviously was eager enough.
"Honestly, even if you're just picking them off one at a time, it works for me. They might be good for information, or something, in the future, but I really don't want to risk one of the stronger ones getting loose around any of the newer Dark Mirror Senshi."
No amount of information would ever be worth putting them in danger's path—and even if Painite seemed a tad bit like a psychopath, if she was going to clean up the streets and make it a little safer for the weaker links in the court, hell. What did he care?

Painite nodded in agreement.
"I hate it when they get to my Lieutenants. Any Lieutenant. I'm no coward, I go after their strongest members," that was mostly true. She had the biggest beefs with the strong senshi and knights, but she certainly did not limit herself to them. She would attack any senshi that crossed her path, and indeed, loved tormenting the newer ones.
They were easier to scare.
So arguing that the senshi and knights were bigger jerks because they fought the lower ranked members of the chaos team was not exactly fair of her, but she didn't really care about that. She could have as many double standards as she wanted: she was aiming to eradicate them. Their opinions did not matter.
"I'll look out for your newbies, you know. If I see them, and they need help. I'll make sure they get it. Chaos can't afford to lose anyone else to the White Moon, regardless of whose orders we're following or what we're trying to do."
