Tentative confidence was a bubble rising in the chest of Lt. Kyanite. She had taken some knocks and survived so far. With each passing day, she felt a little more prepared to protect the people of Earth from the senshi menace. It didn't hurt that drawing energy out of people gave her an inexplicable high -- inexplicable, probably, because she had never touched a drug in her life. Youma didn't quite spook her the way that they once did. And she was actually kind of hold her own in sparring sessions. That didn't mean that she went looking for trouble, but it did mean that she was a little less petrified.

That night, Kyanite was in the field. She had been patrolling earlier with another Nega, but they had parted ways to head home. Kyanite still considered DC to be very dangerous at that time of night for a young girl so she was slinking through the shadows as close to home as she could possibly get without raising any alarms.

Booted feet clicked over the pavement. She took the opportunity to practice her stealth. Slipping in and out of shadows, coming mere inches from a civilian without them every sensing her presence, disappearing down alleys and corners -- it was exhilarating! Kyanite had far more fun practicing stealth than she did practicing fighting. In her own mind, she figured that, as long as her stealth remained top-notch, that she wouldn't have to fight.
