Ophelia really did not understand that woman.

She was not the best at reading social situations anyway, and was far from a champion at relating to the feelings of others, however this time she was well and truly one-hundred percent stumped. She did not know why his girlfriend had found her in such a rage, or why she had lashed out in such a unpredictable and unreasonable way. As far as first impressions went the blonde girl had made a stinker, but the brunette told herself not to worry about such trivial things. She had enough on her plate without trying to please a girl who she had never met and who clearly had no interest in being civil with her.

So what did she do? She made pancakes... because who did not love pancakes? Well incase they were not Jett's cup of tea she also made toast, and orange juice, and more coffee. He had taken her in, the least she could do was make him breakfast, especially since he had probably just got the same lousy treatment that she did. Was it her fault? She did not know what she did! Was her mere existence enough to cause all this drama? She sighed, maybe it was for the best if she left. She could not expect to rely on a stranger, no matter how good his intentions were. She was grateful, but she could not help but still feel uncomfortable.

No, she was not going to leave because some girl had a tantrum. She had every right to be here, or so she told herself. Despite her internal struggle her face remained blank as she held the coffee cup to her lips once more. She would just have to wait for Jett's verdict, for all she knew he might come down and kick her out...

Her stomach knotted, if he did, what was going to happen then?

Jett had kept his word—for a while. He’d gotten in the shower, taken his time, scrubbed himself clean while still favoring a few of his more ginger bruises. He’d gotten out, changed clothes. Meandered around his room for a bit. Looked at the clock.

Raven had been gone for some time, and pacing got old, fast.

…Especially with the aromas wafting through the vents. Was it supposed to be some sort of test to see if he’d stay? Some sort of punishement? He staved—for a while. And then it just got cruel.

He looked at the watch for the umpteenth time, sighed, and then pulled open his door and stepped out.

If Raven wanted him to go back to his room, she could banish him again.

Walking into the kitchen, he frowned when she was nowhere in sight. Ophelia still seemed in one piece—which he was glad for, of course, but still confused. No maimed bodies and no Raven?

Meant something was terribly wrong.

“Morning,” he greeted, looking at the spread she had provided. “…You made all this?” he inquired, thinking that was the easiest way to deduce if Raven was still here or had mysteriously vanished.

Ophelia put her empty cup on the side, folding her arms and resting against the counter top as Jett entered the room, she stayed perfectly still, not wanting to make any sudden movements until she got a good idea of his mood. Which, surprisingly, seemed unaffected. Maybe his girlfriend had jumped straight past him and come to bother her? She hoped so, she would rather avoid that conversation all together if she could. Then again, did she really want to not mention it... since it would quite possibly be brought up later?

She still did not know this boy very well, heck she was yet to know his name. However as she said last night, her connection with him was her strongest one at the moment. He had been there when she started again, and had known her the longest out of anyone. Which was shameful, given how long they had actually known each other.

When asked if she made all this she made a short humming noise, nodding her head in reply to his question. Finally she stood up straight, walking to the table and sitting down on the chair nearest to her, taking her cup incase she needed a refill - which she probably did given the topics they had to cover. This was going to be a long morning, she could already tell. Ophelia rested her elbows on the table's surface and knitted her fingers together, resting her chin on the point where they met.

"I have always been responsible for the housework, old habits die hard I guess." Her eyes drifted to the side before they went back to look at him. She needed to do this, she repeated it in her head like a mantra before finally coming out with the words.

"I am sorry that my presence caused your girlfriend so much discomfort. If my staying here is going to be an issue, I will look for alternate accommodation."

Jett lifted his eyes to look at Ophelia, searching her face. “Ah,” he said after a moment. “…Is that what happened in here?”

He had hoped that things would have gone smoothly, though that smirk. Damn it, he knew that smirk was going to get him in trouble. It had just slipped out so naturally. Grin and shrug, wasn’t that how he brushed off most complications? Most things he just didn’t care about, but with Raven it was different.

Raven was a special creature to deal with, half because she was so difficult to read and predict and half because she was one of Jett’s greatest weaknesses. He had fallen for the girl, in his own way. Showing it was not his strong point, but at the core of all his feelings, she left him with an emotion he rarely felt and had a difficult time expressing.

But, then again. Raven had always been something special, even before they were dating. It wasn’t every girl he was willing to take on space monsters for, after all.

He moved across the kitchen, getting a coffee mug of his own and helping himself to a cup. He sloshed it around just slightly in the cup before he took a long swig of it. When he pulled the mug from his lips, he glanced back at Ophelia. “…Not to pry, but what, exactly, did I miss?”

Ophelia closed her eyes, she did not even really know where to begin. She sat still for a moment, before deciding a starting point. She wanted to word this right, even though it was a topic she usually avoided. This was awkward, very awkward, at least for her. "She accused me of having hidden motives. To put it quite bluntly she thinks that me and you are going to... if we already haven't..." She trailed off, her honey coloured eyes drifting to the side, she could not finish the sentence but she was sure he would get the idea, from her tone alone if nothing else. Ophehlia had no interest in boys, in a strange way they intimidated her, after not having the best experiences with them in her childhood.

She did not understand relationships, and did not know the effect her presence had on his. Raven was such a pretty girl, why would she feel intimidated by her?

"She demanded I move out, and expressed just how much she did not want me here. I said that you invited me and only you could revoke the invitation, when I told her she should trust you, she told me that I did not know what you are like." She continued, letting her arms fall and fold on the table, she held her elbows close, cradling herself in a way. She sighed and finally decided to look over in his direction, she had nothing to be ashamed off. Even so, she felt like she was walking on eggshells, she did not want to make him angry. She did not mean for any of this to happen.

"In the end, she said she hopes that we are very happy together, and left." She nodded, deciding to take his lead and pour herself another coffee. Maybe after this she would take a shower, the events of the last day had made her feel... well dirty. It was not the morning she was hoping for, but a least for now things seemed to be civil between herself and Jett.

"Can I ask... what is your name?" She finally asked.

Fuuuuuck.

Jett reached to pinch the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes for a moment as he took in Ophelia’s words. All right, so Raven was apparently way more pissed than he’d originally assumed. He’d figured she’d gripe about it, complain that he was going to have another girl over, get possessive—but not like this. Which meant he was going to have to seriously suck up.

And Raven didn’t trust him.

Admittedly, there were many aspects of him that were untrustworthy, but he brings a girl home out of the rain, and Raven thinks they’re planning a happily ever after? Even after all this time, he was still happy with her. Why she had the idea in her head that he wanted to fool around with someone else was more than confounding. Certainly if he’d wanted an affair, he’d have been discrete about it. But, out of all the things Jett was willing to do, an affair was absolutely out of the question.

“Jett Draven,” he answered finally, moving his hand from his nose to wave half-heartedly before he refilled his coffee and took a seat at the table across from Ophelia. “I’m not going to say ‘ignore her’ or anything, but I’ll go talk to her in a little bit and make sure she’s all right. She’s…probably just confused. Under a lot of stress. I’ll try to clear things up. In the meantime, though,” he just shook his head. “I’m not kicking you out. I said you could stay here, and I’m not retracting that offer. You take your time. You have more important things to worry about than if you’ve got a roof over your head.”

Ophelia made a small humming noise and nodded her head. She had nothing to add to the conversation and would rather not kick a dead horse, he said he would fix it and she had all faith that he would. She took another drink, feeling relieved that she was not being thrown out. Though in truth she did not really know how to express it.

"I would like to stay here, for a while. I am far from calling this place home, but maybe some consistency wouldn't be such a bad thing." She finally mumbled, looking towards the dark contents in her cup. She had done some thinking during the night, and thought this was the best plan of action. Not to let him in on stage two, she rarely looked for approval but she felt like she needed his.

"I have a mirror in my room... my old room. I live alone and nobody will known I am gone yet, maybe I can go back through it? Pick up some clothes, some money, my violin? My mother did not believe in banks so I have a reasonable sum of money under my mattress, I do not expect to stay here for free and intend to find a job soon. When I am financially secure I will look for my own accommodation. It is not much of a plan, but it's everything I have so far. As selfish as it sounds, I think I should get my own life in order before powering up again... dealing with both worlds at the same time, it is an intimidating thought." That might have been the most she had ever said to anyone at one time.

Finally she looked over at the blonde, she could not really tell, but she knew he would not be pleased with the events that had occurred. Who would be? So she was trying her best to change the subject, give him something new to think about. "I am grateful, for everything... I just am not very good at showing it. I am sorry if it ever seems that way, it's not the case. I will not cause you any trouble Jett, no more than I already have done."

While Jett still had his mind on Raven, the truth was that if the girl was upset enough to leave without saying anything, it was probably best he giver her a little space. “It’s all right. Don’t worry about it,” he said, offering a nonchalant shrug. “I think it’s good that you’re working on plans. Getting some of your stuff out of that place is a good idea, might help with the transition. I can’t help with mirrorwalking there—it only works if you’ve been to the place before, but you should be able to. Though, you would have to power up for that. If you’re against it that, I’ve got today off, I can drive you to your place and help you pack up some things. Hell, if you were really interested, I could drive you to a few places to pick up job applications on the way back. There is still the issue of getting you a new identity, but I’m pretty sure I can get you in contact with someone who can help you out with that. She’s dealt with it before—having to start over. But only take on what you think you can handle, for now. I don’t want you to overexert yourself with all of this.”

And maybe taking it easy was just sounding good for him, too. He was going to need a lot of coffee to get through today—whether or not he spent it with Ophelia, the battle had still left him a little more tired than he was willing to let on.

Still, he admired her willingness to push herself and get back on her feet so quickly. She wasn’t sitting around, wallowing in despair. She was trying to make the best of things—trying to get back on her feet. Her willingness to take action and push through strife made him think she would be a great addition to the court.

It seemed like they had a lot of work ahead of them. Ophelia smiled, somewhat glad about the fact he was offering to come with her. Going back to her home would be hard, and even though she would not admit it, the thought of going back on her own terrified her. "I would not mind you coming, a car would be helpful." She nodded her head, looking back over at him and standing up from the chair she was sitting on. "But only if you are sure, I could not imagine asking any more from you than you have already given." Her voice trailed off into nothing, she did not really know what to say. She pulled her hair over her shoulder, running her hands through it to give her hands something to do.

"The sooner we start the better, I can stand a lot of things, being in Limbo is not one of them. Dealing with a problem is easier when you actually know what it is, and the route to fixing it." She was determined, and already had a check list going on in her head. She needed to keep busy, and by the looks of things Jett did too. Her life ended a day ago, but it was not truly over, she knew that she would have to bury her past issues so they were still not haunting her in her future.

It was time to burn some bridges, once and for all.

"When do you want to start?" She asked, throwing her hair back over her shoulder and resting a hand on her hip. "If you want to finish with breakfast I could take a quick shower, then we can go." She suggested, looking over at the food that was left uneaten.

Jett’s gaze followed her to the food on the table. It certainly seemed like it would have been a waste to leave it completely untouched, and while Jett wasn’t much for breakfast, he’d been up for long enough that it ought to be brunch.

He could be in the mood for brunch.

“Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Clean towels are in the bathroom, so go ahead, take your time. I’ll eat, clean up, pull a few boxes out of the attic to help you get whatever you need.”

Settling himself in a seat at the table, it became obvious that he had no idea what to eat first. All he knew was that after that battle last night, he would take whatever food was put in front of him. “If you need anything, you let me know. Oh—and, thanks for breakfast. Smells delicious,” he added, offering her another warm smile.

He didn’t mind helping Ophelia in the slightest—and right now, he’d take whatever he could to get his mind off of Raven. The last thing he wanted to do was do something to further piss her off, so he resisted calling her to ask what the hell just went down. There would be a time and a place for them to talk—hopefully later this evening after things had calmed down a bit.
