 Warp Nine sat in the laundry basket he'd nicked from his mother, making furious rocket noises with his mouth. He was in a real hurry- there was no time to lose! Not with the Trouble on Earth! The transmission had been pretty vague, but it was clear that there was something deeply wrong that only the Captain of Outer Space could help with. And so, with his faithful sidekick Starboy at his side, the Captain of Outer Space was piloting his rocket ship to Earth. Normally, he stayed in outer space, as that was his home, but he'd received an emergency transmission from the rest of the Super League of Heroes, and that was enough to get him back in the atmosphere. "Come on, Starboy!" he shouted at the stuffed dragon that had been his companion since... ok, since last week, but it was stalwart enough of a companion that he'd deemed it his forever-sidekick. "We have to help the others! Hoist the solar sail! Poke the warp core! Feed the tribbles! Recouple the calculus matrix to the jiggerwatt converter and fire up the flux capacitor!" He smiled to himself. Starboy was the best chief engineer-slash-first officer-slash-communications officer-slash-security officer any captain-slash-chief medical officer-slash-navigator could have. Hopefully they could make it to Earth on time!

Oh no, this wasn't good at all! They were all in deep trouble. The Master of Doom and his Circle of Evil were wreaking havoc on the Earth! Ms. Marvel wasn't able to handle it all herself. Yes, she was super powerful but he was just too evil. She had sent out a signal to the rest of the Super League of Heroes but they have yet to all assemble. Marvel had been able to send a distress call to the Captain of Outer Space, he too was needed in this time of peril. Marvel stood, carefully, on top of an overturned cardboard box. She had managed to tie a small yellow sheet around her neck, all superheroes needed a cape. Across the room was another overturned box, she knew the Master of Doom was hiding there. She sent out another distress call. "Calling the rest of the Super League of Heroes and the Captain of Outer Space. The Master of Doom is attacking Phony City." Marvel held out her arm towards the box across the room and made superpower noises, that'll teach the evil.

The Captain of Outer Space landed his rocket ship and leaped from it heroically, dragging Starboy along by his tail. The colt kicked over the laundry basket and galloped towards his sister. "It is I, The Captain of Outer Space! What is the trouble, Ms. Marvel? I raced here from my moon-base and brought my number one phaser blaster!" The little phony whipped out a toy gun and shot it at invisible enemies. "Pew pew pew!"

Success, it seems her distress call would be answered. She could see The Captain of Outer Space landing nearby. None others had answered though, thats okay, they should be able to take the evil down themselves. "It is good to see you Captain. There is trouble in Phony City. I believe The Master of Doom is here and he may have taken my sidekick captive!" She watched a few invisible enemies fall. "There are enemies everywhere too, we have to do something."

"Your sidekick? We can't have that!" The Captain of Outer Space said heroically. "We are honor-bound to go to the rescue!" He made Starboy nod in agreement; his sidekick knew well enough what it was like to be captured by the enemy. It happened plenty to him; every time The Captain of Outer Space's mom decided he needed a spin in the washing machine, for instance. "We can't just leave him. But we gotta get past the enemies. The Master of Doom has thugs a-plenty; we need to be smart about this! I bet we can sneak into his hideout; that's where he'll have your sidekick." The hideout, of course, being inside the attic. If they could sneak up there, they'd find The Master of Doom for sure!

Marvel was glad indeed that at least Starboy was okay. It would have been terrible if both the sidekicks were captured! "Of course his hideout! That's where he always is, guarded by his many and many henchmen!" It seemed like The Master of Doom had unending, invisible bad guys too. "We have to be fast too, we have to cross the barren desert, then climb the tall mountain" The hallway was long, dark, and full of terrors. And of course the attic which was up the high staircase. They were strong and brave, so of course they could do this.

Deserts. Niner knew deserts. He'd never been to one, but he'd read all about them. From Tatooine to Arrakis, the trick to deserts was to remember to walk without rhythm (so that you didn't attract the worm) and to get away from them as quickly as possible. Nothing good ever happened in the desert. Stick around for too long and your aunt and uncle will get murdered by stormtroopers. "The faster we get through this desert, the quicker we can rescue your sidekick! There's no time to lose! Come on, Ms. Marvel! Let's fly!" he shouted as he began to charge down the hallway towards the stairs.

Of course there was no time to lose, her most important sidekick was in super bad danger. What kind of hero would she be if she left her loyal sidekick by itself. Marvel picked up her cape to not trip, and charged after her brother. She trusted his knowledge of the desert terrain and knew they'd get through it. "Hopefully there are no monster or henchmen this way." Marvel stopped at the beginning of the hall and looked down it. There were a few stuffed toys lying around further down. "Oh no, look!" The filly motioned towards the evil monsters.

Niner followed his sister's gaze to the teeming horde of enemies. They looked tough, but they could manage. They had to manage. No sidekick gets left behind! He knew that Ms. Marvel would do the same for him if Starboy got kidnapped by the Borg or the Klingons or the Ferengi, and he owed it to his fellow member of the Super League of Heroes to help her in her (and her sidekick's) hour of need! "I've got your back, Ms. Marvel! Let's get 'em!" he cried, before jumping on one of the stuffed toys. It cushioned his fall nicely with a pleasant squishy feeling.

Could they call themselves the Super League of Heroes if they didn't rescue either of their sidekicks, or anyone, for that matter? Besides that they were siblings too, always help the other in a time of need. Marvel nodded and followed. "Yeah!" Was all she could respond with as she lunged on another toy. As it fell over and went to the next. They continued down the hall in this fashion. "Ah ha, almost got them all. Watch out!" One stuffed animal behind them, that both of them missed, was still standing. Marvel hopped right over to it and defeated it. "Now the mountain, to the lair."

Niner ducked as his sister took out the goon that had snuck up on him! The mountain lay ahead, the lair at its top dark and foreboding. They really needed to get better lighting up there. Quickly but cautiously he made his way up the stairs. He took tenuous steps into the lair, avoiding minions and mooks while still looking for any wayward sidekicks. "It's quiet," he whispered. "Too quiet. Do you see anything, miss Marvel?"

Marvel followed closely to her brother. She head-butted a baddy who had popped out to her side. It was dark, too dark. She nodded. "Hmmm." The filly looked with her awesome super vision. "There, in the far corner." She pointed to the furthest corner were the sidekicks, two stuffed animals, were loosely tied up. Another placed in front of them. She motioned to slowly make their way over.

"Go ahead and get 'em. I'll watch your six!" Niner whispered, keeping his eyes on the staircase. The Master of Doom might jump out at any time, and he couldn't let Miss Marvel get caught in the crossfire. "Once you get them cut free, we'll bolt!" The sooner they got out of there, the better!

"On it!" She tried to say that in her most super voice without being too loud, which was pretty difficult. Quickly she snuck about the attic, er fortress. Marvel came around from the side and kicked the guard out of the way. Slightly faster then any other phony her age, she 'cut' the ropes and freed the sidekicks. The filly dragged them over to her brother. "Rescue mission a success. Now we need to get them out of here safely." Which meant down the stairs.

"Good!" hissed the Captain of Space. "There's no time to lose! I'll go first and draw any enemy fire!". Taking a deep breath, the colt sprinted down the stairs. About halfway down, he tripped, fell, and continued down the steps in the least graceful somersault to ever be executed by a pegasus. Clumsy as his dive might have been, it definitely made it easy for his sister to beat a sneaky, stealthy retreat.
