It was night now. The sun had set some time ago, leaving only a crescent moon to light the dark sands. Inia knew she should be traveling. She should be using the stars to guide her way to her pride. The older huntresses had made it seem so simple during training. Just find the brightest star and and go the opposite direction. But Inia could never tell which one was the brightest. Sometimes they all seemed bright. Sometimes the brightest star seemed to be in a different position one night than it had been the night before. It was all so confusing. She didn't want to go out and travel tonight. Maybe it would be easier if she had someone with her. Maybe it would be easier if she didn't have a constant feeling of anxiety and fear gnawing at the edges of her mind. Lions weren't meant to be alone. That's why they had prides. They were supposed to stick together. They weren't meant to wander off alone. Especially not in the desert. Inia curled up tighter, tail wrapping around her paws. It was cold. Even sheltered underneath a cluster of boulders which had retained some heat from the day, Inia was just barely able to keep herself from shivering.

Levyathan had no interest in the stars. He had no interest in much of anything really, unless it was mutilating corpses.. or manipulating someone. He found fun in such games, and he was ruthless in them. He could feel his blood pumping deep within his veins, and that only made him think about what the blood of an innocent would feel like, running down his maw. If Inia had any idea what type she was around, she would have known the reason of her anxiety.. or at least why it was good she had it. She was right to be cautious, because types like him were wandering the scene. But there was one thing he hated. He ******** hated the desert. He had made a mental note to completely remove himself from this place, and quickly. He had taken a wrong turn, though he was loathe to admit it. The cold did nothing to him, he almost didn't feel it. He relished it, since the heat of the day was as awful as it gets. Desert weather was something he would be happy if he never had to experience again. He supposed that was why he was trying hard to find his way out of it. His thoughts were interrupted with the scent of soemthing hit his nostrils. He snorted, his eyes gleaming as he cast them around the lands. Something was here.. And he could smell them, and the smell was intoxicating.

Inia, hypersensitive in the dark, perked up at the faint sound of shifting sand. The breeze was very faint, so the sound couldn't have been coming from the wind. The sound maintained a constant rhythm, almost as if they were... Footsteps! Inia uncurled herself and stood up quickly. Had she been a little more rested and not as terrified of the chill night, perhaps her first thought might have been that the stranger could be dangerous and should be avoided. But she was exhausted, lonely, and desperate for some kind of contact with another being. The lioness peaked from inside the cluster of boulders and scanned the horizon for the figure she had heard. Her nose found no scent of the stranger; it must be upwind. Inia turned around and gazed across the sands. There, in the distance, was a dark figure. It was pitch black against the inky blue of the midnight. From where she was, Inia couldn't tell whether it was a lioness or a leopard, though it looked too bulky to be a cheetah. Her tail twitched with uncertainty. She wanted nothing more than to run up to it, introduce herself, and never leave its side again. But she was so tired, and Inia had heard countless stories of hunters seeing things in the desert when they were tired and dehydrated. Inia was currently both. How was she to know whether the figure out in the sands was real or not?

His paws sunk into the sand, and he found himself thankful he knew how to walk in it. Otherwise, he imagined he would be slipping all over the place. Hardly an intimidating force in that case. But his nose hadn't failed him, and he saw the soft shadow. It looked as if it was staring straight at him, as the moon lit up the gleam in it's eyes. He smiled, a devilish smile that held no kindness within it. Levyathan hadn't seen a pair of feminine eyes like that in a while. Though the last time he had seen them, they had been pleading with him to spare her life. Not that he had, but there had been pleading. As he got closer, he found himself wondering what he would do to her. What part he would eat first. Maybe her heart. That was always pretty tender. "You are wandering awfully late." He said, his voice low, though not as menacing as you'd expect.

Inia's ears pricked up. She hadn't been hallucinating after all! There really was someone there! The lioness bounded over to the figure, tail all but twitching with excitement. As she drew closer, Inia noticed that it was, indeed a leopard. His dark fur blended in to the night sky, and his eyes seemed even darker. They were like black pools, dark sclera making his yellow pupils seem as bright as the sun. It was, in a word, transfixing. Inia almost forgot that the leopard had spoken. She opened her mouth, but all that came out was a croak. The lioness cleared with throat, embarrassed, and tried again. "I um, uh, I'm trying to find my way home." Inia said quietly. Her violet eyes tried to stay fixed on the sand at her feet, but she found herself constantly looking up into the leopard's gaze. She settled for shuffling her paws nervously. She was overjoyed that someone was here now with her but something seemed...off.... Inia brushed it to the back of her mind, settling for being happy that she was no longer alone.

When she bounded over to him, excited and happy as a newborn cub, he frowned. He hadn't thought that she would be so willing to die. No one usually was, but then again.. Maybe she had had a rough life. Then she spoke, and he realized she was just stupid. Or at least, he thought she was stupid. As far as he was concerned that was exactly the truth. "And what was it that made you think I could help you?" He asked, arching an eyebrow. His voice was deep, daunting and almost eerie. He supposed if she was strong of will, she wouldn't be afraid of him. Though he always found strong wills stupid too. He waited for an answer, his tail motionless as he stood there. He stood strong, and his body language gave no clue as to his motives.

Inia's smile faded a little bit. It was a fair question. He was a leopard. What would he know of the Dawnwalkers? How could he be expected to know the way home? But Inia had been alone for so long. It had been weeks since she had seen another creature besides the prey she killed for her meals. She longed for company. She craved the warmth of another body, the sense of security that came with being in a group. It had been ages since she had felt safe. Inia was desperate. She was willing to do anything, give anything, not to be alone. Inia chewed her lip and stared at the cool sand. "I, um, I didn't, but I...you see...um..." Her ears fell back and she looked back up into the leopard's face. Her violet pleaded silently. "I do not wish to be alone anymore." It came out barely above a whisper, softer than the sound of a breeze in the prairie grass.

She was vulnerable, and he liked vulnerable. He liked a lot of things, but vulnerable was higher on his list. She was confiding into the wrong creature, that was sure. But he wasn't going to tell her that.. Not yet.. Normally, others would show compassion at the pleading eyes. But he knew nothing about compassion. Anything he managed would just be a show. But he supposed that the show would be alright until he had her where he wanted to. He could hurt her then. But now, was going to be about getting her into a secluded area.. If they could find one. "What a good thing you are not alone then, eh?" He asked, arching an eyebrow as he tried for a kind smile. It looked more odd and.. something was still hiding behind it. But at least he was trying. "And what do they call you?"

Inia couldn't contain her smile. He was going to stay with her! She didn't know for how long. It could be for just the night. It could be for a few days. It could be for just a few minutes. But any length of time would be enough to alleviate the fear clinging to the insides of her head. She could barely restrain herself from going over to give a big nuzzle. His smile was awkward and charming. Inia found it adorable. "My name is Inia." She answered, her voice a little bit louder this time. "What is yours?" The lioness had a feeling that this leopard wasn't used to company. It made her feel warm inside to know that he was going out of his way to spend time with a stranger. Perhaps the seeds of friendship were beginning to be sowed between them.

Her smile was maddening. He wanted to wipe it off her face with a powerful hit from his paw. But he was doing pretty well at having self control. Usually he wasn't that great. Had she been smarter, she may have realized he was the kind of company it didn't pay to keep. He was the kind, to make you wish you could get away as fast as possible. He truly didn't care about her name. Odds were he didn't intend on giving her his own. So he found himself thinking about what he would tell her. He finally decided on something that didn't give his whole name to her. "I'm Lev." He answered simply. Levyathan had no reason for anyone to know his name. Usually the other died before they'd be able to share with anyone anyway. But he was a rather private individual, and he preferred to keep things to himself. His name was no exception. "We had best find somewhere dark." He said, and began walking away. He didn't have to worry if she would follow, he knew she would. He also knew that regardless of the questions she had about why he was looking for someplace dark... She wouldn't deny his company.

Inia could have sworn she saw the leopard's paw twitch. He was probably itching to find a place to lay down and rest. Inia couldn't blame him. She felt the same as well. The sheer relief of finally having someone with her was enough to make her curl up and fall asleep right then and there. But no, this Lev wanted someplace dark. That was puzzling. The night was dark enough for them to sleep anywhere they wanted to. Though Inia supposed it was a leopard thing. Her father had once told her stories of leopard that would climb up trees and sleep on larch branches. As a cub, she hadn't believed that a cat could do that without falling to the ground during their sleep. She trotted after Lev, sore paws sinking into the sand slightly with every step. If Lev was going to go out of his way to be friends with Inia, the most she could do would be to help him find somewhere comfortable to sleep. "Lev!" She called out. There's a cluster of boulders back the other way, where I was just a few moments ago." Inia gestured in the opposite direction, looking over her shoulder in the way she had come. Her paw tracks were still visible in the sand. "It's secluded, and plenty dark inside. It would fit both of us." The lioness offered helpfully.{{OOC: So, I just finished up her four RPs. After this one is finished, I'll be ready to start trying them for breedings.}}

The Captain Britain (I still have to get his ready, but if you can give me till October, we can do it! I have to do four SRPs, which shouldn't take long but I'm a mommy and don't wanna lowball you XD) When she told him of a dark place, he grinned. Though she wouldn't have been able to see it. He stopped and turned his direction, not really acknowledging that he had heard her otherwise. They walked with him quiet, not saying anything until he saw the boulders it was she was talking about. He then turned to look at her finally. Completely halting his steps. "How resourceful you are." He purred, and motioned her to go first. He was going to hurt her, and he was going to relish it. Though he found himself wondering... If it was company she wanted, she'd probably accept bad company just as much. Right now, he didn't care. He still wasn't sure if he'd allow her to live after it all. "You first."

Buffy_the_Bloody Naw, don't worry about it. Take your time. Inia felt her herself wanting to frown. She was starting to think something was off. But the lioness supposed it made sense. Lev was only trying to be courteous. She had found the space first, after all. Somewhat charmed by his manners, Inia let her mind wander a bit. It would be nice to finally have someone to curl up next to at night. Already Inia felt the chilly night air begin to heat up. She wouldn't have to shiver tonight. The lioness decided that it might be a good idea to follow Lev for a while. She was hopelessly lost. Maybe Lev would end up walking past a landmark Inia could orient herself with. She smiled, priding herself on the idea. Even if it was only for a little while, Inia would have someone to walk next to and talk with. She slipped into the cave, darkness swallowing her up completely.{{Last from me.}}
