Chapter 1
User Image

|| It was clear that there was some division among the pride members. Those who clung to the old ways, the belief in the muses, and what they had considered to be a gift in insanity had kept to themselves and seemed almost bitter in their new lives. Some would spend many hours looking into thin air, others had wandered off in search of their muses and afflictions, finding the changes far too much to tolerate any longer. The majority of those that had embraced the new way of life, the new goddess and her gift, and the new leaders appointed to the pride were those from the outside. An uneasy balance existed between the old and the new, one that could easily become a problem if things shifted in the wrong direction.

Shandor Riddle-mouth was not one to test fate or throw his lot into a gamble with odds as risky as this... rather than see the pride descend back into chaos and madness, as he perceived the state of the old ways, he met with the gypsy queen and devised a solution...

They needed more young ones to enter the new ways. Young minds to sculpt and shape to pave the way ahead for future generations. But promoting couples was a risky business as well... most of the gypsies had already created a litter or two. Even the queen had brought forth two fine litters for herself. They needed more blood for when the cubs were old enough to bring forth.

No more than five scouts would depart. The most stealthy, the most cunning, and the most loyal would be issued to the task. They were the eyes of the Gypsy king and queen, and they would find new, young blood to strengthen the new ways...

OOC ||
This is the building phase of the metaplot. Kizi members can assume that Shandor has gathered up a group of gypsies and thieves to discuss this matter in private. The Queen will be maintaining order and secrecy among the rest of the pride while arrangements are made.

• The first few posts are reserved for Bahari members! This is ‘setting the scene’ that the gypsies will soon slip up upon.
• Gypsies, you can assume that your character has been specially selected by Shandor to investigate this neighboring pride.
• No cubs are being stolen for this part! This is a scouting mission intended to gather information such as how many cubs this pride has, what their watch looks like, etc.
• Every gypsy must randomize a number between 1-4 for -every- post that they make.
• Every gypsy has a stealth count of 15.
• Every gypsy is responsible for keeping track of how many points they have left. Whatever you roll, subtract that from 15 and post the following form at the beginning of your post (you can roll for stealth then return to your post and edit in count and reaction.)
Stealth: 15/15
• Once a gypsy runs out of stealth points (goes below or at 0), that gypsy has been detected and must retreat.
• Bahari members can react once a gypsy has been detected, but until that time it’s business as usual.
• Once all gypsies are discovered, we’ll move on.

Bahari members that signed up here and random staff npc's are welcome to join in!
• Bahari members remember, this is just any other day. Nothing out of the ordinary until the gypsies are detected.
• Pay attention for observation rolls announced by a pride owner to see if your member is able to pick up on the situation or identify a stranger.
• This is not the cub-snatching phase yet! This is simply a scouting mission.

User Image
Team Kizi
Our gypsy scouts are Miguel Gold Hunter, Tulio Hazard, and Furiko Blue Mountain.

• Kizi members, we are to post only after a few Bahari posts. I will announce this by making an opening post with Tulio.
• Remember, you MUST randomize between 1-4 every time you post! You also must keep track of your detection level.
• Again, no cubs are being stolen yet! This is an operation to gather information.

Prizes~!
• First of all, there is a raffle for a Bahari cub going on right now here! This boy, along with the other cubs that were offered for it, will be kidnapped in the next chapter of the metaplot.
• Every post (excluding Thalion's) will count as a ticket. Once this chapter closes, Thalion will roll from the pages. The winner will get a free chibi of their participating character. To make life easier, please link to an image of your participant in your opening post!

The heat of the day was just beginning to settle into the cool of dusk as the sun drooped beyond the thick clouds that had been lingering in the distance just over the sea’s deceptively calm horizon line. It had been a day like any other. The tides had come in and swept out, the gulls had picked the coastline clean of any lingering sea life and the pride was beginning to stir. The salty sea air smelled heavily of brine and hinted onto a possible rainfall that night but such things were common. There was still some tension, unspoken in most cases, whenever dark clouds built up along the pride borders. Many members had lost a loved one during the tsunami and those that had survived were left to pick up broken pieces of their lives.

Elki found himself to be one of the fortunate ones. His family was intact and thriving, he’d escaped with only a few small injuries that had long since faded even from sight. The grief of his fellow pride members did tug at his heartstrings but none would guess it in the easy, carefree manner in which he carried himself. He fancied himself a bit of a philosopher and questioned everything with a sort of playful scope on the world. He believed that even tragedy had a meaning to it that would eventually lead to a better place. For some he would seem almost careless, for others his paws weren’t completely settled on the ground. For Elki- well he was different.

The lion stared at the sea sparkling in an array of golds, oranges, and reds as the sky began to paint itself accordingly. The clouds, even the darker rain clouds, seemed almost heavenly as the setting sun outlined them in firey golds. He sighed and shifted his weight to one side. A lovely sunset.

It was what Xenon could only describe as an uneventful evening. Suffice to say that this was how he preferred it, but every now and then he did have to wonder if life was ever meant to remain so tranquil. He wasn't one to tempt fate, on the contrary he now lived in a pride where such things could almost be regarded as taboo, but he was also rogue born and he knew that some things just weren't that simple.

Alas, he was a lion who often developed 'itchy' paws and every now and then he went through phases where he wondered over such things. It gave him a heightened sense of awareness, an overwhelming sense of impending doom... And then his mate would promptly remind him that he was being utterly ridiculous and that he should probably go for a swim to clear his head. Obedient to the 'wisdom' of his mate, this was precisely what he had elected to do and without the slightest of hesitation he had dove face first into the sea.

...In hindsight, not the most intelligent of ideas.

The moment he surfaced he could already feel his nose tingling in protest at the abuse!

"Ow," he murmured quietly, moreso to himself than to any individual who may have been nearby, though he detected no company in his immediate vicinity as of yet. Those that were close by, were still too far away to hear what he may have said...

With his dark pelt and huge size, he was often thought of as frightening, that was of course until you got closer to him. Nahodha'kota was very rarely seen without a smile on his maw and though he could fight and defend with the best of them, he was starting to feel his age. He knew and trusted many of the newer guards to patrol alone, he marched the border on a regular basis checking each guard was okay, making sure that thy didn't need a relief. He no longer sat on the borders though, he had other responsibilities as the counselor of the guards.

The evening was closing in and he could feel the cool breeze on his dark shoulders. It felt nice. He was very used to that feeling, he had lived by the sea for long enough that the incoming cold to the night, the damp that the salty brine brought to the shore. It wasn't time for his rounds yet and as was his routine the jet black male paddled along the shore line letting the water lap against his toes.

"Evnin' lads." He calls, spotting the two males, and calling out as always in his loud, thick accent.

One of those somewhat newer guards was Kinacha'bahari. Having performed his Rites at adolescence, and having fairly recently reached adulthood, he had always known which job in the Pride that he wanted to take up. Big in both heart as well as size, he had always wanted nothing more than to obtain a rank that involved protecting his family and his Pride. Now, with the rank of Nyangumi, he could do just that.

Another thing that he wanted to achieve through his rank was respect. His mother had concieved him and his siblings with a rogue male, which was apparently frowned upon by a minority of Pride members at the time. His mother Neoni'liga had done well to shield himself and his siblings from any of the negativity that may have been aimed at her as they were growing up, so it was only when he got older that he learned about it. Hopefully, through hard work and determination, he could prove to any suspicious doubters that his mother had made the right decision in choosing the have her cubs in the way that she did, and that cubs born from a rogue breeding were just as useful and dedicated as cubs born from a mated couple.

Kinacha'bahari had just finished his afternoon shift and was on his way back to his family's den when he spotted a couple of dark figures on the beach, and another one in the sea. Smiling, he skipped into a quick jog to join them. As he got closer, he quickly recognised the large figure Nahodha'kota, the head of the Guards. The other figure, he couldn't quite recall. Then when he looked into the ocean, he recognised the colourful splotches on the coat of Xenon.

"Hey guys." He grinned as he reached the pair of black males, before turning to the ocean. "Hey Uncle Xenon!" The grey male wasn't actually his Uncle, but he and his siblings had been raised in the nursery at almost the same time as Xenon and Afina's cubs, meaning they were all very close.

User Image She had been the pride's single mother. Not because of a fling- but because of her mate and only love dying and not only that, she had his cubs just before he died. Members would pay respects, but they didn't know.. They didn't know what she had gone through before this death... Was she unlucky? Why would she save him- but he had repeatedly told her it was already his time to go.. She could still feel the brush of his paw against her cheek, and in memory- she lifted her paw to meet his.. but it was no longer there. A sigh left her. She had 8 cubs to tend to.. And she hoped that Jamala would be looking down at them for their safety.. Or so she hoped. With that, she would tell them stories- and bring their children up with song, with harmony and virtue within them. But with eight, she could not do it ALL alone..

User Image Tsukurou, after the massive tsunami became an aid- and now a storyteller whom often took care of cubs. Though he had a lot to take care of, he would find time for Israfel's cubs. Since, she was apart of his traveling group when they were in the roguelands. Though still he could not find Roho, though worried him- but he had heard descriptions of her- and had heard she was in fine health, yet she would not come within the pride's borders and he was too needed here.. For now. "Cubs~" He opt to tell a story to some of the ones willing to listen to him, usually they did but as of late- some of the guards started to teach the cubs physically .. and was slightly losing his crowd.. But as humble as this lion was.. He would still tell it. Even to one lone cubs..

Takibi was running around with some of the other cubs, they were playing a game of tag, but heard the nearby story teller speak up and looked over to him. Takibi really liked to hear storys of valiant warriors and struggles that had been over come. Although the cub aimed to be a fighter when he grew up he knew that it was important to train his mind as well as train his body. Reluctantly, after many moments of silent debate Takibi slipped out of the gave of tag and over to the story teller's feet to hear what storys he had to tell.

The cub was able to remain quiet for a few minutes, but then the red lion's eagerness to hear a story about battles and past warriors got the best of him. The little cub managed to muster all his courage to make a request from the lion infront of him. Um... Tsukurou? Can you please tell a story about a warrior? I really like those storys." The cub had started off looking at the ground as he spoke, feeling shy, but had slowly managed to sit up right as he slowly convinced himself there was nothing to be afraid of.

"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes!" Xenon's maw transformed into a smile as he saw his 'nephew' approach. As a rogue, Xenon had been far less inclined to treat Neon's cubs with any sense of derision. They were children and they hadn't asked to be born into this world, and all things considered their mother had wanted something that at the time, no male in the pride seemed willing to produce. Xenon couldn't fault the desire for a family and he certainly wasn't going to spurn his nephew, blood relative or not.

Fortunately, he had a sneaking suspicion that the new pridal leader wasn't quite like his daughter in that respect.

"It's nice to see you've finally grown into that mane of yours, you looked like you were going to end up with a ridiculously small head," the older lion teased before briefly flicking his gaze towards Kota.

"Evenin'," he replied easily and gave a nod.

'Kota smiled lightly and settled himself down in to a partly creaky sit. It was a pleasant sound in his ears that the teal lion had almost been adopted so to speak in to his own. He kept tabs on his children, no matter how far removed or in-lawed they might be. He of course knew of neoni'ligas litter and he didn't feel too much worry about them. They had been raised right and true and times were of a turbulent nature when they had been born. It seemed to him that things were finally starting to settle.

Looking to the gray splotched male the dark male gave a laugh. "So lad I be hearin' tell that she finally popped again." The dark male laughed loudly "My granddaughter be keepin' ya spry lad?" He shakes his head "Nothin' like a young lassy to keep tha fire in ya belly an' tha chill out 'o' ya bones."

Afina watched as her cubs frolicked together, their small fluffy little forms all melded together in a mish mosh of colours. She had asked her father where they had all come from, which had been some what of a mistake, she had gained a history lesson dating back to her grandfathers time as a pridelander and the brown, golden, pridelands genes that had somehow slipped through to this generation. It made her smile, of cours ein stark contrast to the browns teals and blues was the fire red which burned in the center of her litter. The throwback to her firekin heritage.

The deep blue lioness followed as her only red cub made his way over to the story teller and after a quick glance at his siblings she scooped the blood red cub off his dark paws and licked his head. "No scary stories, you won't sleep." She eyes the story teller and raises both brows, she wasn't against pressing some sort of authority, after all she was the cubs mother and there fore she could ask that they not be told stories that would frighten them, or keep them up past their bed time. "You're too young to hear such tales." She states in a slightly stern tone.

While fairly busy wrestling and fighting and tagging with her siblings, it didn't escape Nuzhah when her mother moved away to scoop up her blood red brother. Scuttling over she sits on one of her mothers front paws and look up at her brother. Silly mummy, warrior stories aren't scary, daddy is a warrior." She looks at Tsukouru and tilts her head her mint green eyes curious. "Daddy is a warrior and isn't scary so there can't be scary stories right?"

As the heat of the day melted off, the pride came alive. One could almost tell time better by that better than they could the tide. The old and the young, quiet and the outspoken, joyful and still somber meeting at the time when day became night. It was almost poetic. He smiled in spite of himself and watched, his eyes droopy, as he was joined out on the beach by an array of familiar faces. The pride had been rattled terribly by the storm, but not broken.

He rolled an ear back towards the others as a story was demanded by one of the youngsters. He'd not yet learned the names of many of the other pride members, to his quiet shame, but he resolved to do so... perhaps eventually. Elki wasn't exactly one to set his watch to. He was lazy in mannerism but on the other paw, everything rolled off his back without a word of complaint.

Eagerly, though silently so, he turned his attention to the proposed story-teller. Apparently a well enough known one for the cubs to hold him in such high regard.

Eusi ran after one of his siblings in their game of tag, trying to pin them to the ground. He looked over to his blood red brother, attempting to get a warriors tale told by Tsukurou. Eusi liked to hear them sometimes too, but it looked as if his mother had the upper hand in this one, so Eusi decided to stay out of it.

He finally pinned his other sibling down with a satisfactiory grin on his face as he quickly ran out of the way as to not have the same thing happen to him. He was getting slower though, and he really wanted to go and tell his Ma that warriors story's weren't scary the way Eusi thought of them. He scuttled over to where they were and backed up his siblings. "Ma, warriors takes aren't scary for us three! Please just one!" he hoped for a positive answer, but wasn't very sure he would get one.

"we sleep just fine if we make ourselfs tired!" he rolled around on the ground, stretching his muscles to go play again if his mother said no. He saw a butterfly flutter over his head. He wanted to jump up and bat at it but refrained because he didn't have the best balance yet.

The orders were simple.

Get in. Take a look around. Don't get caught. Get out. Report whatever findings there were to report. It sounded easy enough on the surface, but this was the first big mission that the gypsy king had ordered of the gypsies and thieves of the pride. It was the first time that the pride would step out and test their new way of life. It was the very first time that the skill set that they'd learned from the goddess of thieves herself would be put to the test.

And he was one of the lucky three to pioneer this new way of life. It was flattering on one side, but on the other it was a crushing amount of pressure. Thankfully, Migel was his wing man. A lion he knew and trusted since cubhood but... a lion to be kept in sight at all times. The second, a new comer named Furiko, was a stranger both to him and the pride. Shandor insisted that he went along to earn his wings early on so to speak. So here they were.

Taking the lead, the dark-maned lion inched his way forward, his paws barely brushing against the sand as he gained inch upon painful inch past the border markers left by the Bahari. This was a pride unknown to much of the Kizi other than rumor. Their ways, their numbers, their size- all of it a mystery. How fun. Tulio wasn't exactly as thirsty for adventure as his companion but he could see the value of knowledge and knowing what sat on the borders.

He stepped over a large piece of driftwood and crouched behind another as voices rose just in the distance. Flattening himself out, he slowly peeked his head up as high as he dared to.

Miguel followed close behind Tulio, green eyes dancing. There were so many new sights, new sounds, new smells... New ladies... Maybe he'd come back later, when they weren't having to be suspicious, to see if he could get one of those tails. Oh it'd be so wonderful! Maybe they'd bell ALL over him, with his golden hair and dashing grin... He stopped when Miguel did, ducking down. It was moments like this where his red pelt seemed a disadvantage, but he didn't mind so much. He was proud of it! Not EVERY lion was red, after all! But at this moment... It wasn't so much about pride as 'why did it have to stand out so much?' He did his best to hide in just the right shadows that he was hidden from view.

Furiko was taking up the rear and just fine with it. He was brand new to the Kizi pride and hoping to really show his stuff during this mission. He had come to this pride on accident while wandering the lands after his old pride the aalimakambila had dispersed and his family had scattered to the winds. He had liked how secluded and secret the pride was and had been exremely eager to join. He had missed being with others. Being a rouge had not been something he could handle at all. He wasn't used to the views the pride had on non-lions but he was willing to have an open mind and rethink how he felt about non-lions to be a part of the pride.

Furiko was using every skill he had learned from his time as a hunter for his old pride in this stealth mission. Him, Tulio and Miguel were here simply to check out this pride and bring back their findings. As Tulio and Miguel came to a stop Furiko laid flat against the ground in the nearest bush to his companions. He was here to help but he also intended to follow every move his more experienced pride members made so he did not screw up in any way.

Kinacha'bahari laughed loudly at his uncle's tease. His head and his mane hadn't been the only thing that had grown. Although he had been quite average in size when he was a cub, he was now much bigger than the average size of a Bahari'mtoto male. He wasn't quite as big as Nahodha'kota though. "My head still isn't as big as yours though Uncle Xenon." He replied in an equally teasing tone, before moving to greet the grey male as he exited the water, offering him a breif but playful nudge in the shoulder.

When Nahodha'kota spoke up, Kinacha'bahari had to try very hard to contain his laughter. It wasn't 'Kota's accent that made him laugh, but the way in which he said things. Aunt Afina had indeed had cubs again recently, but 'Kota refered to her having 'popped'. The teal male wasn't even sure what he said after that. Something about females setting you on fire and then chilling your bones? Kinacha'bahari's face scrunched up in confusion.
