To be honest, as much as DETH seemed like a good thing, advocating for human rights in a world that was pro-Fear, Lizzy couldn't help but question if DETH really knew what they were doing. Her experiences so far had proved to be valuable in her understanding of non-hunter humans, and Professor QB had showed her a DETH medical facility that proved co-existence between humans and Halloween was possible, but this DETH DIY kit? It was kind of... A little...
Special.
Holding onto the human world movie and DETH Scouts Guide she had found inside her kit, she made her way to Junko's room, maneuvering around the monster dorms until she found herself in front of her Soulmate's room; she had warned her earlier that she would be visiting, but that was earlier this morning... Hopefully she gave her enough time to get ready. Breaking into an excited smile, she raised a hand, and rapped on the door, "Junko~"

Junko was always ecstatic to see Lizzy no matter the reason. She had put her minipets in their pen, cleaned up her cooking practice supplies and settled down to wait patiently for her Soulmate to arrive. While she waited she did what she did best; she sewed. It wasn't anything grand, just a simple little embroidery along the edge of a dress sleeve.
When she heard the knock on her door and the voice on the other side she stopped, squealing with delight and setting her project down on her bed. She then clambered off the bed and across the room to open the door, a huge grin on her face. "Lizzy~! Hiii~!" She cheered, about to hug the demon ghoul until she realized there was a box in the way.
She blinked. "What's that?" Oh hey. It had that symbol on it. The um...the DETH thing! Right! That still didn't answer her question.

"It's a DETH D.I.Y. Kit!" Lizzy replied, about to drop the box and hug her soulmate when the question was popped, "It has... A list of things to do, and one of them was to watch a movie! I was hoping that you wouldn't mind watching it with me... In case it was too scary and colorful for me to handle alone..." You know, whatever scares Halloween creatures, such as that thing called 'My Little Pony' that humans seemed to like so much.
"I only opened it to check that everything's there, but I think the movie is called 'Tangled' or something," She nodded, holding the box up.

A...D.I.Y. kit? How did that work? Junko looked curious, her hair curling around her and forming little swirls that resembled question marks near her head as she leaned in close to peek into the box. Watch a movie, huh? She grinned. "I'd love that! I'm sure we can handle it. We've faced worse than a few silly human movies, right? We're big ghouls! We can handle it." Like a couple of bosses, of course. Junko gave Lizzy an amusing look of determination as she declared them big ghouls. They wouldn't even call for their boilfriends if they got scared! They were tough! Brave! Mighty!
During this Junko had fished out the movie, and the sight of the cover made her eyes widen as she let out the most excited squeal. One that had her minipets startled.
"LOOK. AT. HER. HAIR! Oh my Jack this is the best movie ever!"
"You haven't even seen it yet." The Mistress grumped. If She had eyes She'd be rolling them. Junko waved a hand, her eyes locked on the movie cover.
"Oh, hush. OhJackohJackyesLizzyyesIwanttoseethisyesplease~!"

"YES WE CAN!" Lizzy exclaimed, bouncing up and down happily on the spot; besides, an excuse to watch a movie with her soulmate? Scary or not, she'll happily take the chance to do so, "We're big ghouls now~" Saying that sounded funny for some odd reason, and she ended up giggling as she walked into the room, looking for a place to put the box down.
"Ohhh?" Lizzy asked, settling for putting the box down on the desk. She peered at the cover of the movie, and for the first time that day, took a really good look at it, "Will you hair be as long as that one day, Junko? It's soooooo long."

"Ohhhh! I hope I can have my hair grow this long one day! That would be amazing!" Junko sighed dreamily as she hugged the movie to her chest, grinning from ear to ear. Lizzy was wise to bring this to Junko. She quickly put away her project, cleaning up space for her to let Lizzy have a place to sit before she hurried to her skelevision and popped the movie into the player. So exciting! Ahhhh!
She sat down beside Lizzy, eyes wide and hair writhing with excitement, and even bounced a little where she was sitting on the edge of her bed.
The movie was certainly interesting. An animated feature with a lot of very adorable elements. Things that should have been..well...normal, though.
"HOW MUCH HAIR DOES SHE HAVE?!" "An amazing amount.." "Wow... The human world is... So fun. But the world sounds great! Why wouldn't she allow her outside? " "Maybe it's not good in the human world..?"
"I don't know why anyone would want a futakuchi-onna's hair. It's strongest when attached to her head. It loses its life when you cut it...though it's still stronger than a rope, I guess. "Maybe some people don't know that?" "Humans need to do their research."
"I wish my hair could do that..."
And then there were lanterns. Thousands and thousands of lanterns all set loose into the night sky, wishing their Lost Princess' safe return even after eighteen years. It was beautiful. Lizzy sniffed, blinking away tears. "If we do that... Will Jericho come home...?" Junko had to pause them and just watch her best friend, her excited smile falling slightly. She reached out to squeeze her friend's shoulder, leaning over to rest her head on Lizzy's shoulder.
"I...I don't know, Lizzy." Lizzy's arms curled around Junko, holding the ghoul leaning against her. Junko smiled again, nuzzling her cheek against the ghoul's. They returned their attention to the movie, chatting and laughing and gasping and yelling at the evil characters..until Eugene cut of all of Rapunzel's hair.
Junko let out a loud shriek of terror at the sight, eyes widening and arms flying protectively to her head. Wh-what?! Humans..what?! THEY CUT HAIR?! Why would they cut hair oh Jack oh Jack why oh Jack wh--it wasn't even a cute style it was awful how could what how what why no oh Jack why?!
The movie ended soon after, Junko somewhat mollified by Lizzy's comfort when the ghoul saw how distraught she was over the cutting.
"Th..that...was um...that was good." Junko giggled nervously, watching the credits go by. They had discussed what notes to take, what to send in to DETH that they had learned. They'd compiled a good list, she felt!

Lizzy continued to hold Junko after the credits started to roll; to be honest, the thing that struck her the most about the movie was the fact that Eugene sounded a lot like Mac. In fact, the more she watched it, the more she started to see a little bit of Mac in everything he did. When he started to sing, Lizzy decided that she was somehow going to make Mac sing to her one day.
Just for comparison.
"It was pretty good, yes!" She nodded in agreement, pausing briefly before adding as an afterthought, "If we watched it again, maybe we could skip, uh, that one part." Since that was probably bordering on horror for Junko... And it's true. Eugene's not very good at cutting hair at all.

Yes. Skipping that one part sounded like a great idea. Junko grinned and nodded her head, releasing Lizzy with a small sigh. "Yeaaaah.." She played with a bit of her hair, looking somewhat sheepish over her reaction to that scene. But Junko felt perfectly justified, really. What futakuchi-onna wouldn't freak out at the idea of a hair cut?
"I'll have to get a box myself, so we can watch another movie~."

"That would be great!" Lizzy beamed, unable to hide her excitement; to be honest, she had been a little worried... What if Junko disliked humans enough to share the Horsemen's take on them? After all, as much as she disliked the hunters for causing so much harm to her friends, she did not hold a grudge against regular humans... Especially after Professor QB brought her to meet one.
Maybe, if more students got to experience positive interactions with humans, they would be more willing to not... Kill hunters. Even if her own hands were already stained with-
"Maybe we'll get another good movie!" Her smile had faltered, even if it was just for a split second, but she was determined not to let her history deter her from trying to be better... She paused, looking at her soulmate, "Junko, do you think that all hunters are bad people?"

Junko was grinning as she nodded. "Hopefully! ..Eh? Something wrong?" Lizzy's smile fell for just a moment but it was enough. Something was bothering her soulmate.
At Lizzy's question, Junko looked genuinely surprised. Why was she asking that? They'd seen it. The Hunters were cruel, malicious, evil. They attacked their friends, their allies, anyone that was..different from them. Junko had seen it, she'd read it as well in all the entries students had submitted in the SEEDs Hunter Compendium. Some students felt so passionate about them...moreso than she did. The only Hunter she had ever had any personal encounter with had been during an illusion created by the clan of Death; it had been a very unhappy shock to Junko's system to learn that the blonde Hunter with the pink and gold-branched coat. She often thought to herself she'd have no qualms with killing a Hunter. Was it true or were those just angered thoughts fueled by rage in the heat of the moment? It was hard to tell sometimes. She hated them. She wouldn't feel any remorse if they all just..went away forever after what they had done to her friends; torture, kidnapping, killing...Riley, Jericho...even Mitsu, Mei, Amrita..so many students.
Junko glanced at Lizzy and then looked away again, a bit of hair wrapping itself around her wrist in a comforting act. Were they bad people? She suddenly stood up and walked away to grab her eyePhone, sitting down beside Lizzy again as she browsed through and opened the SEEDs page. She was quiet, reading over the entire forum of her hunter compendium.
There were a few entries she'd had to change. They had originally been nice. Non-hostile...to be honest..very few of them were actually described as 'cruel' or 'heartless'. "I'm...not sure.." She finally said in a quiet voice, sounding very unsure of herself. "On first instinct I want to say yes." Her eyes darted to Lizzy and then down to her phone again. "For all we know...some of them could be just..defending themselves like we do. Or...they just don't know any better? Like, this one ghoul is described as 'Naive' and 'chatty'. But then Shun speaks of this Candace ghoul...or we're reminded of the Hunter with the glowing blue scythe, and then there's this 'M' ghoul..Bix, who went from friendly to hostile." She frowned again.
"I used to think...maybe if we just had a chance to..talk to them, it wouldn't be so bad. If we could find one who didn't just want to attack us on sight. But I don't know if something like that is possible anymore. That big, burly Hunter from during the raid...the one in the leotard. The one who died..when he fell, so many of the Hunters...were upset. It was clear they cared deeply for him. I...I think they just.." Where was she going with this? Junko wasn't exactly sure. She tossed her phone aside with a soft sigh, rubbing at the back of her neck and pursing her lips. Were the Hunters just scared and attacking something in defense? The best defense is a strong offense kind of thing?
Junko wasn't sure anymore.
"I don't hold any kind of ill will toward humans. We need them and from what I've experienced, except for a few exceptions at that maul they're not so bad. In fact, they're a lot like us! It's...the Hunters I don't trust. And it makes trusting humans difficult because how do we know a human isn't just...a Hunter putting up some kind of front to get our guard down? It's...it's really confusing." More hair coiled up the length of Junko's arm as she went on and on. Finally she looked to Lizzy again, frowning deeply. "What about you?"

Lizzy listened to what her soulmate had to say, nodding once in a while to show that she was still listening; she just wanted to hear everything that she had to say before saying anything. However, Junko sounded as confused and on the fence about things as she was, which only served to make her even more unsure than she already was...
"I'm not sure either," She admitted softly, looking sheepish as she shook her head, linking her arm with Junko's, laying her head down on her shoulder, "I got taken by them once... It was really upsetting, because they tossed me and my friends in a cage, and looked at us like we were nothing but horrible minipets. I was so angry. And so scared, because I saw someone being turned into a weapon... I guess I let my emotions get the better of me, because I wasn't very nice at all. I wanted to be better than them - than the hunters who tossed us into a cage - but I wasn't. I was as mean and horrible to them, as they were to me."
She sighed, holding Junko close, her eyes focused on her feet, "Yeah... I saw that hunter fall. I... He was just... D-doing his job, wasn't he?" She teared up, eyes going moist; she didn't physically harm him, but she was part of the raid on the island which led to his death. She was as guilty as anyone else. The blood on her hands was the same, "H-he didn't... H-have t-to... Die." She choked up, biting down on her lower lip; when Stacey was killed, she felt horrible. Horrible that she let it happen, but he was a vengeful, torturing man. He blinded Shun in one eye. He tore out Hel's wings.
He would have done worse, if they had let him go.
Maybe.
She'll never know now.
"It's why I'm so confused, Junko. They cared deeply for him. They were upset and probably hurt at his death... So why can't they see that when they attack us, when they toss a net over someone we care about, and put them into a cage to turn them into weapons, that it upsets and hurts us too?" She closed her eyes, her hold on Junko's arm tightening slightly as she nodded, even though her head was still on the ghoul's shoulder; it was too comfortable, and she didn't feel like moving, "That's true too... What if I befriend a hunter somehow, and they use it against me? If you are taken away from me because I chose to trust a hunter, I would be... I w-would be crushed."
She would never be able to forgive herself.

Junko's fists clenched when Lizzy mentioned being taken by them. She remembered that, Seiji had told her about it after. While they were stuck with the Hunters and...and..R..Red...a group of students had fought their way into a tent and rescued caged students. Lizzy had been one of them..her poor Lizzy. Junko looked away again, leaning into the hug as Lizzy moved to hold her. The ghoul closed her eyes, her hands relaxing as she slipped her arms around Lizzy's middle and nuzzled her cheek against the pink-haired ghoul's shoulder. Even her hair wrapped itself around the other ghoul, a possessive, protective hold that said 'mine, no touchy'.
He was just doing his job. "He didn't.." Junko agreed softly to Lizzy's choked words of death, holding her tighter. Don't cry. Don't cry. It's okay, Lizzy. Junko's here. "I..I've never killed anyone before...I've never even knocked anyone unconscious, or dissipated anyone. It's not something I ever want to do." She was frowning again. The Hunters did care deeply for that boil. "I don't know, Lizzy." Junko replied, her voice soft.
Junko fell quiet again. Befriending a hunter and having them turn on you sounded too risky. There had to be a way. There had to be. Her heart tightened in her chest when Lizzy worried of her being taken, biting down on her lip as her eyes watered. No, don't cry. "I wouldn't be able to take it...you, or Seiji, Tomoko.." So many people she wouldn't be able to lose...
Why couldn't the Hunters just leave them alone?
"Maybe...DETH is the answer?"

Lizzy just clung onto Junko, wiping her tears away with her hands; it was comforting, and she missed her Junko cuddles so much.
"Me too... For a long time, I thought that I wouldn't feel bad about killing a hunter. I even thought that I would be happy about it, because they've been hurting us, but when it actually happened... When I actually saw a hunter die..." She sighed, burying her head into Junko's shoulder, her voice muffled, "It didn't feel right at all. It felt so... Wrong. Like I should have stopped it, if I could."
Her hold on Junko only tightened when she felt the ghoul tear up; she understood those feelings well... As much as she believed that her friends were her source of strength, even when they stuck together, they couldn't win. Numbers didn't matter. Bonds didn't matter. She kept waiting, hoping... But what Shun told her had some truth to it... Mitsu was a prime example.
But she didn't want to let go of hope and optimism. Those were the only things that she had left.
"Maybe..." She muttered, "I've asked Professor QB to be my mentor because I wanted to learn more about DETH... I think it has promise, even if I think that their views are... Too idealistic."

She nodded. "I used to feel the same way. I mean..there's one hunter in particular that I..." Junko frowned and shook her head, distracting herself from that train of thought by playing with Lizzy's soft cotton candy pink hair. "I was pretty surprised by how bothered I was to see a hunter die. I think watching how they all reacted made it worse...like we'd killed a good person..." There was a soft sigh before she sniffed and wiped at her eyes, still playing with Lizzy's hair to keep herself calm.
Oh? Professor QB was Lizzy's mentor? Junko smiled. "That's nice! I haven't had much experience with him myself. The only time was when he took us on that little field trip and had everyone scare humans...I really enjoyed that." Her gaze drifted away from Lizzy as Junko recalled the memory, a soft smile taking the place of her frown. That had been a good day. It'd felt so good to scare a human. She wanted to do it again. Yes, please. "Ginger's my mentor. She is so great! She's soooo nice, and her methods are so different from what I'm used to! She taught me how to cook in a way that'll actually make people feel better, too." She was excited again, trying to shove away her unhappy thoughts. "Yeah, some of their views are kind of...strange. They're very optimistic, but sometimes in a way that's just...not..wise? I don't know. Maybe they do know better than us, but it's still weird."

"Mmm," Lizzy mumbled in reply, nodding in agreement with Junko's train of thought; the way they reacted to that hunter's death was similar to the way they had reacted when Professor Red died... She had to wonder if they were capable of feeling the same kind of sympathy for them. Maybe the world would be a better place if everyone was a little more sympathetic and empathetic.
She had enjoyed that DETH field trip too; it was her first human scaring experience!
"Ginger... Oh! The lunch lady?" She asked, sitting up in order to properly look at her friend, glad that her mentoring was going well, "Really? Maybe you can teach me how to cook someday... Starting from something simple..." Very simple. Like frying an egg or something.
"Yeah... Like... Hugging a human," She tilted her head, "I like hugging, and I have nothing against it, but... I wasn't sure what they were trying to accomplish with that..."
