A beautiful somewhat shady day had Roch coming home at top speed on his bike, an excited grin on his face as he pulled to a stop in front of the school, took off his helmet, and hid his bike in its usual parking spot. Then he headed into the school at a run, a sheet of paper in his hand. "Have you seen Jove?" he asked someone at random. "Ghost boil, fluffy white tail--"
He finally found someone that knew where Jove was, and raced over to the gym (seriously, he should have thought to check there FIRST) with the paper flapping in the breeze.
"Jove!!" he said as he caught sight of the pup. "I just saw this," he told the other boil, shoving the sheet in his hands.
"One week only, our special double decker glowing mushroom pizza buffet!" was written in fancy letters across the page with a picture of a buffet table covered with various pizzas and salads. And most importantly, mushrooms.
"It's a double DECKER," Roch announced--although honestly he had no clue what that meant. It sounded delicious though!

Jove had been fast recovering from the unusual that had him sleeping most of the week. Well, pushing himself to recover. He longed to rejoin the student population, and had a sense he had been missing out on things. Perhaps it was only paranoia, but certainly something had happened while he was snoozing in his room. And he didn't want to miss out on anything else!
His ears perked when he heard his name, but at the sight of the reaper running over he almost wanted to run away himself! But the little ghost had grown a lot since his first year. He managed to stand his ground, and even wagged his tail slightly as Roch came to a predictable stop.
Although he wasn't expecting the words that tumbled from his friend's mouth, something about special mushrooms and whatnot. The pup reached over to hold the page steady. His head slowly tilted. Clearly he had no idea what it meant either.

"Mushroom pizza, all you can eat," Roch summed up. "You like mushrooms, right? Wanna go out on the town? Eat a buffet? They GLOW!" he said excitedly. "Course, it's probably some special sauce or something, but it'd be cool to see!"

The pup's head tilted farther, and he gave an awkward sideways nod. He did like mushrooms but... He really didn't know if he wanted to eat a buffet. What was a buffet? Like a loaf of bread or- No, that was a baguette.
Jove's head tilted the other way, and he looked down at the paper again. If Roch wanted to go, he wouldn't mind accompanying the reaper, it didn't sound all that unpleasant. Big blue eyes stared up at Roch as though asking when they were going.

"Then let's go before Danny sees it and lights all the pizzas on fire!" Roch said, starting off. "It'll be beautiful, Jove, tables full of pizzas and breadsticks and you can have as much as y'want," he said, wiping a bit of drool off his chin. Then he hesitated. "Y'wanna take the bike or should we walk?" he asked.
How would Jove handle a motorcycle? He'd probably think it was too noisy, but hell, it was up to the pup!

Jove's tail gave a hesitant wag, Roch seemed to be getting all worked up over the thought, so it must have been good. And weren't pizzas good to eat in the first place? It was always amazing how different pizzas tasted depending on what was put on it, and mushrooms were his favourite.
Ears swiveled forward at Roch's question. Bike? The bike? What? The pup radiated confusion.

That unspoken question was answered as they reached the school gates. Roch headed to the bushes nearby, rolling out a medium sized black motorcycle with two helmets hanging from the handlebars. "We'd get there faster on this," he said to the pup. "But it's totally up to you, bro."

Whether it was his strong loyalty or his childish desire to look tough, Jove couldn't help it when someone called him 'bro'. So, having never ridden a motorcycle in his short life, the pup fluffed up slightly and stepped up to the machine.
His nose twitched, picking up the scent of exhaust still lingering from the vehicle's last trip, but it didn't seem like anything more than another object. Like furniture.

Roch hesitated, pondering which helmet to hand him. Finally he picked up the silver one, offering it to Jove with a grin. "It might smell like ghouls, sorry," he apologized. "But y'gotta wear one."
The helmet was his first--the one his dad had bought him for their trip to Los Muertes. He'd given it to various people, Willow, Amphi, Danny, a few others, and the pup would probably smell all of them. "You gotta wait till I get on, then sit behind me, here," Roch said, patting the back part of the seat before mounting the bike and pulling his own helmet on.

Jove accepted the helmet, but once Roch mentioned smells he just had to investigate with his nose. All sorts of smells had collected on the inside of the helmet, but there were an equal number of not-people smells on the outside. The predominant scent was foliage from where it had been stowed.
Finally he plunked the thing on his head, mimicking Roch's motions, but it settled way too low. He could barely peer out from under it, and let out a little growl. Hats were awful.

Roch had no clue that it didn't fit. He was starting up the bike as he spoke over the speaker in the helmet. "Hold onto my vest, Jove, don't want you accidentally fallin' off," he said a bit too cheerfully. So he could have been picturing Jove in his pup form in the helmet--and trying not to laugh. "Hey, Jove, if y'ever wanna prank someone I know a GREAT way to do it," he added, now picturing headless biker pranks as he started up the bike.
It growled to life, vibrating underneath them. "Y'got a good hold?" Roch asked. "Cuz I'm goin' now," he told the pup before taking off.

Jove pushed the helmet up, high enough to peer out with another little grumble. It was a good thing he was already dead, because if they were in an accident that helmet would be flying twice as far as the pup.
He startled slightly as the vehicle started up, showing his first sign of being nervous as his little fingers grabbed onto Roch's vest.
It wasn't until they started moving that the pup truly got a fright. He yelped loudly at the reaper's back at the sudden motion, latching his arms tightly around Roch's waist, in addition to sending out a multitude of invisible tendrils to wrap around Roch's body and shoulders. There was no way the pup would actually fall off, acting like a little octopus the way he was, but he still clung as though he were about to die again any minute now. Vehicles were absolutely terrifying!

Roch choked a little, almost falling back as he was grabbed... thoroughly. He took it to mean that the pup was a wee bit nervous. "Relax, bro, relaaax," he said over the speaker, a bit pitchy because he was still being strangled by an invisible arm. "I sort of need to breathe, y'know? But nothin's gonna happen to you," he promised. "I'm a jackin' good driver. I got a license!"

Good driver or not, Jove had enough experience with cars during his short lifetime, and the feeling of terror still lingered in his death. This was no "hang your head out the window" type of ride, this was the sort of thing that seemed determined to kill him all over again. But the tendrils shifted, in that shaky way one had when letting go of a safe hold to reach for another, wrapping more firmly around the reaper's waist instead of his neck.

He could sort of breathe now, Roch thought, but he was barely going thirty. Seriously. The bike was creeping along in his mind. This just proved that the boil needed to be taken for more rides, if you asked the punk. "Think about pizza, Jove!" he encouraged the boil as they got to town. He turned to the left, heading for the pizza place and pulling to a stop in a parking spot. "You can get off now, though."
