Cicero is truly one of those characters you gotta love or hate. There's no in-between.
The first time I saw him on the road with the broken-down cart transporting his "mother," I scolded the farmer that wanted to report him and coerced him into helping him fix the wagon for Cicero.
Later I joined the Dark Brotherhood and when I had the chance, I killed him. By then his chatter had become obnoxious; I couldn't take him anymore!
Then in another game when I found him with the cart, I lied to a soldier and said that Cicero was hauling war contraband. XD I don't know what if any repercussions that has in the game, but it was amusing.

I believe that if you get him arrested, he will slaughter the farmer and his familly. I don't think I'll ever kill Cicero, I hope I don't anyway. He's the main reason I'm joining the Brotherhood. But then again, after seeing this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaDnoAktefM - I've become convinced that the developers tried to make him annoying on purpose. Probably, there's some mod out there to shut him up (for those who still don't want to kill him). The war contraband option is hilarious, btw XD

Sithis would be ashamed of this how can I put this........ Jester He is a pig deserving no more than slaughter. When I met him on the road I wanted to slaughter him so instead of killing the fool I told the farmer to fix his wheel so he could leave my Great! Whiterun hold. Then when he showed up at my family’s home I wanted to spit in his face. He deserved so much worse than what I could give him so after I gutted him I made him my throll and let the mudcrabs and horkers have him.

I love Cicero so much, I tried to kill him the first time around because he had betrayed the family, but then I just left him be. I find him very funny, though I don't take him on quests much because he doesn't stop talking and sometimes gets me caught, so I just visit him at the Sanctuary.

I actually have a soft spot for him ever since I read his journals. For some reason it reminded me of what happened to the main character in the movie A Beautiful Mind. The tragedy and sadness stole my heart and broke it at the same time.
These days Cicero is actually my companion. He's actually quite powerful, and as for the chatter...I just got used to it. It's almost like background music now.

Oh? What do the journals say? I only remember him being crazy from start to finish, questing for "mother." Nothing I really sympathized with.

i hate him because hes over 100 years old (atleast by his journals because he killed the arena champion which my char was in obliv) and he annoying yet poweful so its like you never win scream

Also.... the Arena Champion is not a title for life, it is earned in battle. And it's very likely that someone else would have beaten the PC Oblivion character at some point (Canonically), so there theoretically could have been several Arena Champions after him/her. And Cicero's not unbeatable. Actually... it's not that hard. Anyway. In my own opinion... a cool addition to the game, a bit annoying but manageable. I don't sway too much in either the love OR hate direction.
