The world around him had been black, void of much sound and light save the little pinpricks in the distance all around him. There was little sound, just the passing of a comet every few or many years. Being a Star, he was in the land of his ancestors. Above the forests and oceans. The mountains and meadows. Where one couldn’t look anywhere without seeing a star or galaxy or some planet’s moon.
But this was not what he would have ever imagined the world above was like. It wasn’t quite dark in the lack of light sense. There was plenty light to see by. It was just empty. There was nothing here. No other Stars. No creatures or anything resembling nature. Though it was empty, something he found out after a few appearances was food would appear for him. Keeping him alive.
Of course. If they wanted him dead, he would be rotting in the earth long ago. No, his punishment was to be greater. To be trapped in this prison of nothingness for all eternity.
Or, at least, until something unexplained happened. As it was about to.
Cephei had been straining his ears to hear any kind of sound, especially that of his wife in her own prison, when the solid ground beneath his hooves suddenly disappeared. A surprised sound escaped his throat, running up his windpipe to part his lips, as he began to fall. He flailed frantically to find something to hold onto, but there was nothing. Nothing save the terrible sensation of falling from something very, very high.
The stallion wasn’t sure how long it lasted. He twisted around in the air, catching glimpses of stars rushing past him. Then the earth came into view, and it was rushing to meet him as he fell towards it. Like a ram sensing a challenger. Giving in to his fate, Cephei allowed the ground to come up and catch him. It would be better than living forever in that emptiness.

She saw him fall even upside down she could see him her husband on his throne, they were so close together but still so far apart and then he was gone just gone, the constellation that was his prison just vanished "Don't leave me," she cried though her voice never seemed to reach her husbands ears his prison was too far she never saw any indication. She wanted to be with him again...
she could feel herself slipping, slipping from her throne. A terrified scream escaped her lips as she began to fall her stomach would have fallen into her mouth if she hadn't been upside down in the first place, she was falling, the mare panicked how long was she going to fall? Where was she going to land, did it matter? she was going to die without seeing her husband again.
Down, further still the sky started becoming blue the ground was approaching and the stars getting further and further away... she had no way of stopping her fall. Funny how one sentence had caused so much trouble... though she could no longer remember what it was she had said, it seemed so insignificant to her.
"Cepheus," she whispered.
Before the ground hit her head and everything went dark again.

Even as the ground rushed at him, Cephei couldn't give up on life that easily. He was finally freed from his prison. Whether this was some cruel joke by his captors or not, he was freed. That was all that mattered. There was the chance this wasn't real, that his freedom would be snatched back from him. That he would be placed back in his quiet cell for all eternity with just the stars for company. But there was also the chance this truly was an escape. And he was willing to risk making himself look more a fool to his captors if it wasn't, by taking the chance that this wasn't their doing.
Of course, that still just brought up the question as to why and how. Why was he falling and how was he, when he seemed to be so tightly sealed in his prison? No matter where he had walked, it had been the same dark sky filled with little faraway lights. There had not even been signs of his captors. Certainly none of his wife. It had been her doing that put them in that situation. Her arrogance.
Despite it all, he couldn't be mad at her. Not now, not even than. If the other party hadn't been so sensitive about the comment, this wouldn't have happened, either. And their daughter would still be alive. Their only child. Sadiradra was their daughter just as much as Andromeda had been, but it wasn't the same. She was not their flesh and blood. And if he died here, their lineage would simply end. He couldn't allow his fate to end like that so easily. He wanted to see her, again. The mare who had caused all this and who still made his heart flutter. It had been so long since he had laid eyes on her, he feared he was beginning to forget what she looked like. Her voice.
Cephei turned in the air, trying to make impact with his body instead of his head. He managed to land on his side, knocking the wind harshly from his body while the stars danced before his vision. He closed his eyes against the throbbing of his body.
And heard something strange. Something he had forgotten. It was the sound of birds singing. Of the wind through the trees. Of life. He listened to it for a while, forgetting all else but the sounds of anything but his own breathing.
Then it came back to him. His prison. His fall. Getting to his feet, he raised his head and opened his pale eyes, taking in the blue of the sky. If he had fallen, shouldn't Kass also have? And if she did, where?
There it was. That smell. He recognized it. Like perfume. Coming from the east. He raced towards it. It was not long until he found the crumpled body on the ground. Cephei got down on the ground beside her, resting his head on her chest right above her heart. Listening to the beat of it. Showing in his own quiet way how he felt.

It was so dark so empty, she breathed softly her entire body ached, she could feel someone warm beside her, the smell was strong and familiar, something she loved dearly, a light moan escaped her golden lips as she roused to the sound of 'life' there was no sound in her prison, not even the winds soft whisper. "Cepheus..." she whispered for the one beside her could only be him one she loved with all her heart.
Slowly opened her emerald green eyes light blinding her vision only seeing right bright white her head throbbed from being landed on, it had been a miracle she hadn't snapped her neck. As her eyes began to focus she blinked a few times each time she could see the brilliance of the world, so bright and beautiful, she had missed being surrounded by things as beautiful as she was, the world seemed so much fuller, and in it she saw her love Cephei Cepheus. She had long since missed his handsome golden eyes and dark coat that echoed her own.
The Golden mare leaned herself against her mate for support she could feel his warmth, something she thought she would never know again. "I missed you my love."
A sudden though occurred.
What happened to her daughter Sadi during their imprisonment? Had she been imprisoned too? Kass loved the other mare like her own, why though she couldn't recall Sadi wasn't related to either Cephei or herself but having Sadi around filled a void in her own being. Kass felt like she was forgetting something else though what she couldn't place, it was important she could feel it. Hopefully whatever it was would return.
"Where are we Cephei? Where is our Sadi?" Where was her Andromeda? And why had they been released from their imprisonment now?

A small, soft smile touched the stallion's lips as he raised his head in answer to Kass's sentiment. He spoke not a word in return, as was his usual custom to be quiet, but nuzzled the very tip of his muzzle against her forehead, sweeping the golden forelock aside. The imprisonment had done little, if at all, to diminish the natural beauty that was Kassiepeia. The mare he had not intended to be forced to marry until he had laid his golden eyes on her. Urgency left him, leaving a blissful calm. If he could stay laying like this for weeks, it would be too short.
But, of course, there was the pressing matter that Kass had just wondered out loud. As much as Cephei also worried and wondered the same thing, he was not as concerned as his wife about the whereabouts of Sadiradra. Sadi had a good head on her shoulders. Whatever had become of her, he had full confidence she would be alright. He wouldn't be surprised if she had, at this moment, gathered together a small party of other Stars to travel with. She would find her way back to them.
If indeed she was where they were. Cephei doubted she had been imprisoned as they were. She had done nothing. One could not fault the daughter what the parents had done in their own time, while she was away. There was still a chance she had not followed them. Wherever they were. Plant life was familiar to the tall stallion. This plant life was not. He could hear the strange calls of the local wildlife in the forest some distance off.
He pushed at Kass' forelock once more, revealing his tongue for a gentle lick as a mother might a newborn foal to comfort it.
"We appear to have fallen, my dear. Where or why, I do not know. Fret not. We are fine. And Sadi is a grown mare with the intellect of a scholar." Rising to his feet, he stretched out his neck, the tied part of his forelock shifting closer to his eyes for a moment. Calmness stole over him, awakening his natural curiosity. He pricked his ears forward, listening to the forest. The only thing that worried him was the kinds of predators that might be inhabiting this place. A full life of writing and story-telling and being catered to had left the stallion smaller in build than most his sex, but if need be he still retained the old instincts. His hooves were still hard as iron. He was not letting Kass disappear on him, again.
"Come, my Queen. The world awaits."

Kassiepeia could feel her mate's touch, he was here, and it calmed her She breathed more slowly taking in the moment. She had seen him from their prison but they never came close to eachother. His touch sent a wave of longing through her, she had missed his touch. Kassiepeia's emerald eyes closed pressing closer to her husband and mate. Like him she could stay this way forever, it had been far too long. She was overjoyed once more just to be with him.
Were the gods playing some cruel joke again. Her and her husband reunited only to be torn apart again? Anger and sorrow began to rise. She could not bare it a second time; he was here with her now. It was not her fault she was born the most beautiful mare in the world. Cephei kissed her, and she nuzzled him affectionately back. Cephei's voice soothed her anger, and brightened her spirits. He was with her after all once more, it was joyous feeling. She refused to let herself be separated from her husband again. She would hold him for eternity this time.
A soft smile crossed her face as she gazed at her husband "I will not fret my love," she replied gently. Her gaze then followed her husband as he stood he wanted to explore, couldn't they stay a little longer? He would say they were too exposed. As usual he would be correct in such matters. The golden queen stood beside her mate. "I come my king. Where shall we go?"
