This is an origins story I made for my character Hiraki (our lovely captain said i could post it) Also note, his bio is going to be split into two perspectives. The first chapter his side of the story and the second chapter will be his weapon partners side, and due to their age difference won't take place in the same time frame.
Soul Eater SE Origins: Hiraki Amane Chapter 1 – The Promise
“Are you sure he’s ready?” A young woman spoke softly as she stroked the back of her sons head, her long gentle fingers played with his black hair. “Whether he’s ready or not, it is going to happen.” Her husband spoke in a rough voice, but did show care for his wife. She looked down at their son who was sleeping quietly in her arms, his chest lying against hers. She felt her son squirm lightly as her belly kicked him, “It seems that they’re trying to wake up their big brother.” She giggled in a very soft voice. The man stood up, walking across the room towards the door. “I doubt it… babies randomly kick inside their mothers’ stomach. There’s no logic or reason behind it.” He spoke in a dull voice. His wife just frowned at him, “Thanks for the words, Mr. Glass half-empty.” She continued to toy with her sons’ hair, “I just hope our next one doesn’t take after you.” She grumbled softly. “What’s wrong with how I look?” The man asked her in defense, looking over at her. “Do I really have to point it out? Hiraki’s the spitting image of you; even his eyes are black like yours. I am a woman with needs, and I require a child of mine to take after me!” She half-yelled in a childish tone. The man just shrugged and slid out the door, closing it shut behind him. The young woman drifted her eyes back down to her son, she stroked his back gently. “It seems like the only time your father is around is when you’re asleep…” That was the truth. Her son, Hiraki was only six years old and yet almost all of the time her husband was never home when Hiraki was awake, but he would return a while after Hiraki fell asleep, but would leave shortly after he awoke. She just groaned loudly and hugged her son, “Just make sure you’re nothing like your father…” She placed her hand on her lower tummy, “That goes double for you.”
“Time to wake up, Hiraki…” Hakaru called softly to her son, who was lying asleep in bed. Hiraki grumbled quietly, rolling over on his side away from his mothers’ voice. “No…” He protested groggily, not wanting to get out of bed. “I’m sick… I can’t go to school today…” He went and coughed. Hakaru cocked her eyebrow at Hiraki, spotting his fib. She crept up beside her sons’ bed and grabbed his sides, causing him to jump up out of bed. “You know you can’t fool me.” She poked her tongue out at her son. Hiraki crossed his arms, looking away from her grumbling. “Now if you don’t hurry up and get ready I’ll make sure to send you to school in your underpants.” Hiraki grumbled even heavier, climbing out of bed and tossing aside his bed clothes as he got dressed for school. Hakaru giggled softly some more and kneeled beside her son and gave him a big hug, “You know I love you, Hiraki…” She spoke softly into his ear. Hiraki wrapped his arms around his mothers’ waist, “I love you too, mama.” Hakaru lightly swatted the back of his head playfully, “Now go to school.” She spoke in a fake mean voice. Hiraki poked his tongue out at her and went out the door.
Hiraki was sitting quietly in his desk at school with his head lying on his crossed arms, waiting for school to be over. He never liked school, it was boring for him. He would have preferred to stay home and spend the entire day with his mom, but unfortunately he couldn’t… he didn’t know what the big deal was, but she said he won’t have a future if he doesn’t go to school. Hiraki didn’t notice a small girl walk up beside his desk, “Uh… hello, Hiraki…” She spoke in a very soft nervous voice. Hiraki sat up, not hearing her approach him; he looked over at the girl, “Oh, it’s you.” He spoke softly. The young girl looked down nervously; her dark red hair fell past her ears and almost blended in with how red her cheeks were right now. “I was just wondering… since its lunchtime would you like to have lunch with me?” She spoke up in a soft, gentle tone. Hiraki blushed softly, “Oh…” He didn’t know what to say, “Yeah… sure, Yori-chan.” The girl smiled and took his hand and led him outside.

“Where would you like to sit?” Yori asked Hiraki as they were now in the area directly behind the school building in a small grassy field. Hiraki glanced around the grassy area, searching for a place for them to sit. His eyes fell upon some older boy who was probably nine or ten years old. He was shouting orders at younger students, demanding for them to either get out of his way, or asking for the typical things like money or food. “People like him deserve to rot away in jail.” Hiraki spoke heavily under his breath. Yori’s gaze drifted over towards the older boy, “People like him?” She asked softly. Hiraki nodded, “People that are evil… Kato has been disciplined over eight times this school year and has never changed… people like him will never change.” Yori blinked at his words, “That’s some strong words, Hiraki-kun.” Hiraki’s gaze remained on the older boy, looking at him coldly. Before Yori could stop him, Hiraki was walking towards Kato with his fists clenched tightly. Kato shoved a large mouthful of some little kids lunch in his mouth when he noticed Hiraki advancing closer to him, he laughed loudly, glancing around at those around him, “Look at this kid.” He motioned in Hiraki’s direction, “Look at him, his fists are balled and he has a serious look on his face as if he’s going to do someth…” Hiraki slammed his small fist into the center of Kato’s stomach with unexpected force causing Kato to spit out his breath. Hiraki didn’t cease up on the bully, he swept his foot aside, tripping Kato and as soon as he landed on his back went and popped him on the side of his head with his fist, and walked away from him, trying to contain his anger. Needless to say, Hiraki was sent down to the office for discipline after that incident.
“Eighteen detentions in a row!?” Hakaru blurted out loudly to the principal as she was informed about what Hiraki had done. Hakaru was called down to the school where she now sat in the office with Hiraki in the chair beside her, looking at the principal with a major dirty look. “I see where your son gets his temper from.” The man spoke in a snobby tone that accused Hiraki of being the problem child. Hakaru couldn’t believe that this… man was accusing Hiraki of having problems, “If anyone’s’ to blame it’s that brute Narasu!” She retorted, referring to the boy Kato Narasu. The principal reached upwards, sliding his glasses up the bridge of his nose, “That “brute” you’re insulting so happens to be my dear sisters’ son. And he insists that he was minding his business with his friends when your devil of a son attacked him for no reason at all.” Hakaru nearly lost it and set the man on fire, but she had restraint. “Are you kidding me?! If your nephew is as good of a kid as you claim then how is it that he’s been having disciplinary issues this entire year?!” The principal took his glass cup of coffee and sipped from it silently and waited to set it back down before answering her, more like ignoring her question. “I’m not surprised your boy attacked young Kato, seeing as he takes after his completely childish mother. How old are you anyway?” The principal insulted. Hakaru stood there with her mouth agape, “I’m twenty years old for your information!” Which meant that she had Hiraki when she was just fourteen years old; Hiraki’s father was eight years older than his mother. The principal smirked inconspicuously at Hakaru’s statement, “Sounds like someone couldn’t keep their legs closed.”
Hakaru led Hiraki outside as several floors above them the principal was shot out of the large glass window of his office, covered in flames. “From this moment on you are now going to be home schooled!” Hakaru spoke in an angered tone, although none of her anger was directed towards Hiraki. “Are you sure that was a good idea?” Hiraki asked his mother in a nervous tone, holding her hand. “Of course,” Hakaru replied in an affirmative tone, “Loads of children are home schooled.” Hiraki shook his head, not sure if his mom was ignoring what he meant or if her statement was serious. “I was talking about… you know, lighting him on fire.” Hakaru turned towards her son and pointed towards him with a serious expression, “Hiraki if anyone insults you like that I give you permission to set them ablaze!” Hiraki laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. “Um, you know I can’t, mom.” Hakaru began to lead them back home, “True… you’re not a witch.” She spoke softly. That’s something about Hiraki’s parents that were different from everyone else, his mother was a magic-user; a witch. Hiraki honestly didn’t know much about his father since he was barely around; he didn’t even know what his name was. The only thing he knew about his father was that he was a weapon, but he didn’t know what that was supposed to mean. “You told me that if you used your magic then the Death Weapon Meister Academy would detect you as a witch and something bad would happen…” He mumbled softly. Hakaru took a deep breath to calm down, “You’re right…” She looked down at Hiraki and smiled, “Your mama just loses her temper a bit… there’s nothing to worry about.” Hakaru moved her hand down her belly and rubbed it, “I tell you what, I’ll let you pick the name of your little brother or sister?” Hiraki turned the other way, “I don’t want to…” He mumbled softly; not too fond on the idea of being “replaced”. Before she was pregnant Hakaru would have pounced on Hiraki and tickled him, but obviously she had to be careful of her belly. Hakaru kneeled down behind Hiraki and hugged him from behind and bit his ear. Hiraki hopped up as she did so, not expecting her to do that. “Let’s go home now, Hiraki.” Hiraki nodded and followed his mother closely, holding her hand securely. “Won’t dad be mad that you took me out of school?” He asked softly. “Not at all,” Hakaru stated, “If he was there and heard what your principal said, he would be dead.”

The two of them were back at home now; Hakaru was over in the kitchen making something for her son, humming softly. “Hey, mama.” Hiraki spoke up, “What are we going to do now?” He asked her, “How does home school work?” Hakaru paused for a moment, thinking about it for a moment. “I didn’t really think that one through…” She had no idea how to homeschool someone; perhaps it would be best if she sent Hiraki to another school. She winced sharply in pain as she felt pain in her stomach, but it quickly passed. Hiraki became concerned for his mother and walked over beside her, holding her hand securely. “Are you okay, mama?” He asked in a very protective tone. Hakaru smiled gently at her son, “Aren’t you mama’s little protector.” She headed over towards the living area and sat down on the couch, wanting to rest for a moment. Hiraki followed his mother and sat down beside her, leaning his head against her, hugging her securely. “You sure are a good kid.” Hakaru smiled to her son. Hiraki was pretty unique in a way; his mother was a witch and his father was a demon weapon, and yet he wasn’t either of them. Hakaru could sense that her son did have a strong wavelength, but it was more like that of a Meisters’ than anything else. Hakaru had no idea where the Meister side came from; Hakaru came from a long line of witches, and her husband came from a long line of demon weapons, so how is it that they have a meister child? Her husband believes that Hiraki might be a demon weapon himself, but his abilities haven’t shown yet. He would have liked to test Hiraki and put him in a situation that would require him to use his weapon abilities, however Hakaru had warned him that if he so much as thought about putting their son in harm’s way she would break his neck. Hakaru had a sharp gasp as she felt another quick pain pass through her, ‘Is it time?’ She asked herself quietly Hakaru groaned tiredly, “Where the hell is your father when you need him…” She noticed that Hiraki had a very afraid and concerned look on his face, “Don’t be afraid, I’m alright.” She comforted him, “How do you feel about helping mama deliver your brother or sister?” Hiraki nearly had a heart attack when she said that. “I’m just kidding…” She laughed softly, but felt another pain. “But it would probably be a good idea to call an ambulance…” -Two years later- “Are you sure it must be done?” Hakaru spoke softly in the dark of the living room. She was sitting the edge of the couch holding a whimpering little boy in her arms. She looked down at the little boy and kissed the top of his head, “There… there… it’s okay, Karo-chan.” She whispered softly to her two year old son. Lying beside her, still asleep was a two year old girl; the boy had brown hair just like his mother, while the little girl had dark black hair. “It’s not going to be easy raising twins on my own, not to mention Hiraki as well.” Hakaru nuzzled her little son closer to her. “Hiraki can manage without me being here.” Her husband spoke in a soft, but deep voice. “He has for his entire life… Karo and Shiro will be fine.” He added. “That’s not all I’m talking about; it costs money to raise children. I can’t take care of three by myself.” She lightly jumped when the sleeping girl beside her began to whimper quietly; Hakaru looked down at the little girl and picked the sleeping baby up and held her in her arms along with her twin brothers. Hakaru named Shiro ironically; the name meant “white” but Shiro had black eyes and hair like her father and older brother. Hakaru named her that to contradict the features she took from her father. “I’m sorry…” The tall thin man spoke in his deep voice, “But it’s not safe for me to stay here anymore… any day now they will find me, and when they see a witch and half-breed children they’re either going to kill or hurt you.” Hakaru’s head drifted down slowly, unable to fully accept that he was leaving. “Can’t you fight them?” She asked in a very soft tone. He simply shook his head, “No… their resources are practically infinite. I would need an army to fight them, and even then I would most likely lose.” Hakaru held her children closer to her, “How long will you be away?” She asked him. “I don’t know… they know I’m in this area. When I leave I’ll have them follow me. Another thing…” Her husband faced her fully with a serious, but caring expression. “It’s okay for you to hold on to him for a while, but before he gets too much older you must send away Hiraki.” Hakaru’s eyes widened when he said that, “What? But he’s my son… our son. I can’t…” She cried softly. “Hakaru, you must. I was born into them; they know what I looked like as I grew up. Hiraki is the spitting image of me. Trust me, if they start to suspect anything about him, they will investigate it and they will find out the truth. In all honesty you should send him away this week. It’s the only way to insure his safety… the same goes for Karo and Shiro… I hate to tell you this, but sending them all away will probably be the only thing that can protect them from this… group.” It wasn’t much longer until they gave their final goodbyes and he left for good. Hakaru was left alone with her two young children, she was now sniffling quietly. “I hate him…” An unexpected voice spoke up. Hakaru nearly jumped when she saw Hiraki walk into the room quietly. “Hiraki…” She spoke up softly. His gaze was downward as he held his young hands closed tightly. “Why is it that dad always has to leave… and now he has to completely abandon us?” His small fists were trembling in anger. Hakaru stood up, placing the now sleeping twins down where she once sat. “Hiraki, that’s not true.” Hakaru began to protest, but Hiraki interrupted her. “Not only that… but he wants me to leave?” His voice shook as he was now crying tears of both anger and sadness. “I hate him…” He whimpered. Hakaru went closer to him, kneeling down in front of Hiraki, placing her big hands over his small hands. “Hiraki… it’s not like that. Your father wants all of you to be happy and safe, but right now the only way to protect you is for you to leave.” Hiraki trembled more, trying to hold in his emotions, “It’s not fair… who’s trying to hurt us? The DWMA?” He asked his mother in an angered voice. Hakaru shook her head, “No… the DWMA doesn’t even think we exist. You’re not ready for the truth yet, Hiraki. The only thing you can know is that those after your father will try going for you one day. You must become stronger than him.” She moved her hands past him, placing them around his back and holding him closer to herself. “You’re not a witch like me… and you’re not a weapon like your father… I don’t even know if you are a meister…” Hiraki’s soul wavelength was similar to that of a meisters, but there was an underlying darkness to it… it wasn’t evil or corrupt, it was something that could not be identified. “What am I?” Hiraki asked her in a soft, almost frail sounding voice. Hakaru smiled gently at the young boy, “For now… let’s just say your mama’s angel.” She continued to sit in front of Hiraki, holding him against her on her lap to comfort him. “Where am I going?” He asked her weakly. Hakaru tightened her grip on him, “I don’t know…” She wanted to send him some place far away so that he would be safe, but she didn’t want him to be with complete strangers. She then remembered his fathers’ parents; they were the only outside family they had. Hakaru’s own parents were back in her homeland, Korea. However she couldn’t send Hiraki and his brother and sister there. Hakuro comes from a long line of witches… pure-blooded witches. Although her husband was a strong demon weapon, that still didn’t change the fact that he wasn’t a witch. Hakaru chose to remain with him, resulting in her being disowned by her clan. Hiraki held his mother tighter, not wanting to let go of her. “When would I have to leave?” He asked her softly. That question did bring Hakaru great heartache; she wanted to tell him he could stay, but she feared her husband’s warning. The last thing she would ever want to do is put her children in harm’s way. “I don’t know, Hiraki…” She looked down at her son, “You’re still young… you shouldn’t have to deal with this. I know things might be tough for a while, but promise me you’ll take care of your brother and sister.” She felt Hiraki tense up at the mention of them, mainly sense he preferred being an only child. Hakaru playfully pinched his nose, “Promise me.” She ordered in a playfully strict tone. Hiraki went and lightly bit her hand, “Alright… fine.”

Hiraki sat quietly and impatiently at the rear end of a large rusty cargo ship. It had been nearly 40 hours since Hiraki had left his mother. Hakaru hated the idea of just placing her children on some rusty vessel that didn’t even look seaworthy. It was bad enough she had to give them up, but at the very least she wanted to send them away on a nice boat or by airplane; hell, should would have preferred to send them away on a flying broomstick. But their father was the one that arranged the travel arrangements, claiming they would attract less suspicion this way… which kind of made no sense. Some kids on a rundown cargo ship would attract a lot more questions if someone spotted them, instead of them being on a nicer ship. There weren’t any rooms or housing on the vessel, which meant Hiraki had to sleep on deck in the cold and keep his barely two year old brother and sister warm and safe. He groaned very loudly in annoyance, “Why…” He clenched his mouth close due to the cold, but also out of frustration. “I shouldn’t have to deal with this… I haven’t done anything.” His little sister, Shiro squirmed lightly in his arms, about to wake up. Hiraki just stared at the young girl, “I could drop you off this boat and no one would ever know…” Hiraki realized what he just said and mentally scolded himself. He looked down at the sleeping twins who were snuggling with each other in his arms, “I’m sorry.” He held them tighter. His mom only asked him one thing and that was to protect his brother and sister, and for her sake he plans on it. “Ni hao!” An elderly couple called out to Hiraki, greeting the young boy whose siblings were hiding behind his legs, holding both of his hands. Hiraki just stared at the old couple, not sure if they were his grandparents or some greeters; then again, what shady cargo delivery boat has elderly couples that greet them. “Ni hao?” Hiraki asked roughly, not knowing what that even meant. He observed the couple… they did remind him of his father from what he remembers about him. They both had pure black hair and eyes, and were slightly slouched over and wore Chinese farmer outfits; he observed the male a bit, the one that was his grandfather. “How old are you?” Hiraki asked without even thinking. The elderly man just chuckled loudly, holding his stomach. “My, aren’t you full of questions. I happen to be sixty-eight.” The man replied. Hiraki just observed him further; the elderly man had a solid idea about what Hiraki was thinking. “You’re wondering if you’re going to look like me when you’re my age. I’m afraid that’s impossible for you. If I remember correctly you have your mothers’ blood flowing through your veins, and we both know what she is.” Hiraki took the hint and knew he was referring to Hakaru as a witch. It was true that witches are capable of retaining their youth for possibly centuries, but Hiraki wasn’t a witch, but his blood was half-witch. “Due to her “uniqueness” You could probably live double my lifespan.” He then looked down at Hiraki’s siblings, “Same goes for your brother and sister.” The young twins continued to hide behind their older brothers’ legs, not trusting the two grown-ups. “So you’re saying that by the time I’m like, twenty… I’d basically look twenty for ten to twenty years?” He just used the age twenty as an example. “That’s how it works. Once someone like your mother reaches adulthood their aging mostly slows down. But since the three of you are half-bloods it will only slow down partially.” His grandfather was avoiding using terms like witch out in public, although the only people around were probably criminals anyway. The woman that was apparently their grandmother glanced up at the large burning sun which by now was panting and nearly out of energy. “Looks like the moon will be out in probably an hour or two. We must head back now…” The elderly couple looked toward each other and nodded, before grabbing Hiraki’s wrist and forcing him to follow them away from the shipyard and onwards to their home located far away in the Chinese plains, on a secluded land, away from prying eyes. “So… where do we sleep?” Hiraki asked quietly and cautiously, not trusting the older couple… being around them gave him a hostile vibe. He briefly scanned the land, noticing that the fields were overgrown with grass that looked as if it had not been tended to in over five years. He also noticed the building looked out of shape and rundown. Hiraki’s gaze went back to the old couple, “Where do we sleep?” He asked more firmly, wanting an answer, growing more unnerved with the old pair. The old man who seemed warm earlier now had a cold look on his face. “Before you get s**t around here you’ll answer our questions first, and then you will work to earn your keep. Seeing as those two brats can’t do anything you’ll be carrying the weight of three.” Hiraki narrowed his eyes at the man; he knew he was no good. His grandfather smacked Hiraki across his face, knocking him flat on his back. “First you will learn respect. We’re not your parents; we’re definitely not going to baby you.” Shiro and Karo were quickly on their knees besides Hiraki, holding their older brothers hands. The man turned towards his wife, “And if you think there’s no way we’re your grandparents since we’re being very strict, you’re damn wrong. We are your grandparents, and we will treat you the same way we treated your father.” The man decided it was time for some introductions, “I go by Xin; you’re grandmother’s name is Yua.” The older man popped his neck, “Now answer some of our questions and then your time here will begin.” He went and placed his foot upon Hiraki’s chest, prepared to apply pressure if he refuses to answer him, or speaks rudely to him. “You’re not what we hoped for… you’re completely useless. After countless generations of demon weapons we finally have one that has witch blood and yet they can’t do s**t. You’re a disgrace to both your witch blood and your weapon blood.” He applied pressure against Hiraki’s chest out of anger, causing the boy to choke in pain, trying to breathe under the pressure. “Have you ever used magic before?” He asked simply. Hiraki was pushing against the heavy foot on his chest, trying to regain his breath; Xin raised his foot to allow him to breathe. “Answer me, or I will make sure to collapse one of your lungs. Have you ever shown any potential towards using magic?” Hiraki slowly recovered painfully and shook his head to say no. “Alright, good… Next question, what kind of witch was your mother?” Witches magical abilities are unique to them; all witches take after some sort of animal or creature. There are witches whose abilities are based around feline traits, even mouse traits. “I… don’t know.” Hiraki replied, his voice shaking. Xin reapplied pressure on the boys chest, “That’s not the answer we’re looking for.” Hiraki honestly didn’t know what kind of witch his mother was. Shortly after she had Hiraki she hid away all of her witch related items and clothing to make sure no one found out about her. Xin scanned Hiraki and his siblings, “It may be possible that you are a witch… but you’re witch blood is dormant. Your siblings most likely take after your fathers’ bloodline. I can tell a demon weapon when I see one, and they certainly have it.” Xin glanced coldly down at Hiraki, “The three of you may have witch blood, but it’s very weak in your siblings. However, your witch blood is definitely the strongest amongst you, and I can sense something hiding in your soul.” Hiraki stared coldly, hating the man that stood in front of him. The older man just grinned, “Oh, I see you have a temper… I like that.” He looked to Shiro and Karo, “I can tell right now they’re both weapons like your father; I can see it in their eyes. As for you, your mothers’ witch bloodline has been strong for centuries and your fathers’ weapon bloodline has been around just as long. You’re not a weapon, I can see that. But by all means that would make you more of a witch.” Xin kicked Hiraki aside, “As you noticed the fields are overgrown and require tending to. That’s your first chore; if you fail to complete that task before sundown neither you nor your siblings will be allowed to eat or sleep for three days.” Hiraki stared coldly at the man, his eyes full of anger as he reluctantly stood up and went to work clearing the fields, which was a very difficult task since the overgrown grass was taller than him. “I hate this place…” He clenched his fists in anger as his grandparents abandoned Hiraki to be by themselves. He looked down at his little brother and sister, “I promise I’ll protect you both…” He swore solemnly. -To be Continued- Young Hiraki
