wahmbulance Rules wahmbulance 1st - Post must be at least a paragraph long (3-5 well put together sentences) 2nd - No explicit nature. (cursing is accepted, just nothing that'll be deemed as tasteless) 3rd - When replying to a post, make sure you use the quote feature sparingly in your posts. Example: Nobody Likes To Read Stuff Like This 4th - Keep track of character/player knowledge. Meaning, if Jane knows something Jake doesn't know, Jake doesn't find out because the person controlling Jake knows what Jane knows. 5th - Keep it friendly! All rules are subject to change without notice.... Keep up with the rules!

Brief Backstory: The Festival of Lights; it's a very special time of year for the moderately large town. You see, it's a yearly celebration of the formation of it's, once very small population of 30+ but now has grown into a sizable collection of diverse people, creatures and entities. From the basic human being to full on anthromorphic creatures, they were all all loved and appreciative of being accepted in the town with open arms.
This is just the biggest way that the elders can show how greatful they are to their citizens and the like.
Another year of the festival is upon us and it is going on as smooth as one could of hoped for! The surrounding area and the ground was trailed in candles of sorts to help luminate the grounds. Street performers entertained the young ones with simple slight-of-hand magic while their siblings and parents watched on. The food tents were in full panic mode as they tried to keep up with the demand of people's hunger and thirst but maintaining order the entire time. Parents just wandered the walkways as the vendors pushed everything and anything that they might be able to sell: and stitched articles of clothes, trinkets for the tots and art. Lots and lots of art. From the traditional painting to the more abstract.
Not to far away from all the festivities stood a figure on the top of an abandoned building, just keeping an eye out on the festivities. Far to long, this Angel has been an overseer for this town and he's always been fascinated by it... Yet he has never gone to experience it for himself. This year, he was going to change that. With his light golden staff in hand, Ledin gripped it tighter then it slowly vanished into nothing. He stepped off the roof and slowly hovered to the ground and made a b-line to the gathering. His angelic garbs flowed with each of his steps, but somehow staying off the dirt covered roads.
The view was amazing and the smells that flowed through the air was simply astounding. The young gaurdian angel didn't know where to start... Hm, food was always a good starting point, maybe that will help him.

Larsona walked around the festival taking in all the beautiful sights. She had always loved the light hearted feeling of a good celebration. The sounds of excited children playing games, the people selling all kinds of souvenirs on the carts and of course there was also the food. Nothing was better at a festival like this than the tents and tents of food. Excited by all of the festivities around her, Larsona made her way to one of the tents to satisfy her appetite.

"GOLDIE! ORDER UP!"
Goldie sighed in aggravation. The night had barely started and already she was swamped. The festival was both a blessing and a curse to her. Sure, her family always made a mint off of sales, and the extra income was always useful for improving things at the restaurant and at home...but the days leading up to the festival were filled with a mountain of preparations, to say nothing of the chaotic mess during the festival itself. Lines ten customers deep were commonplace, and for good reason. Her family's restaurant had the best fried pickles in town, and people couldn't seem to get enough of them. They ran out every year, but the night was young, and they wouldn't be running out any time soon.
As Goldie hoisted another vat of delicious breaded pickles out of the fryer, she looked out into the sea of lights and people. The worst part about the festival wasn't even the work; it was the fact that she never got a chance to take part in any of the fun. She barely remembered the last festival she'd been able to enjoy. She'd only been six, and over ten years had passed since then. She looked back down at the basket and portioned the pickles into individual servings. There was always next year. Maybe she'd get lucky and break her arm or something right before. Of course, her family would go nuts without her there to help.
Before she turned around, she made sure to plaster her most authentic fake smile onto her face for the waiting customers. "Thank you for your purchase! Please enjoy the festival~" she said, handing a dish of fried pickles to a man (at least she assumed it was a man) who looked to be both part dog and part lizard. The man grunted and smiled, flipping Goldie an extra coin as a tip. Goldie half considered keeping it before tossing it into the payment jar with the rest of their earnings.

As Larsona walked though the tent her jaw dropped at the amount of people there were. "It's a little more crowded than I thought..." Larsona thought to herself. As she made her way through the sea of people, growing more excited to order her favorite tempora and some sake, she suddenly felt an odd chill run up her spine.
She quickly looked around trying to find the source of her discomfort but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Now slightly on edge, she found herself gripping the handle of her blade. It had always been her nature to go straight for her weapon when trouble was afoot. After another moment of sweeping the crowd she noticed a few people giving her a stare of confusion. Larsona blushed wide eyed realizing how odd she must look. Giving a nervous smile she took her hand from her sword and walked up to the counter to order. "Well...wasn't that a great start.", she thought.

Ledin continued to trek his way through the roads, dodging in and out of waves of people either passing him by or coming from behind him to get to the next attraction. As hellish as it was, it was almost something beautiful to be apart of. Like a controlled chaos. He made sure he was still there to do his job and made sure things didn't fly off the handle, but he wanted to have fun as well. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." That is one of the Earthly sayings, is it not?
A scent in particular really caught the attention of his sense of smell. It was a bit tart, but yet it carried the scent of being fried. Well, just about everything was fried here so that was a bit vage. Looking around to check the closest vendor.
"Fried... Pickles? Interesting..." Ledin mumbles to himself and directs himself to said stand.
Getting in line, he tried to peek over the shoulder of the larger...creature ahead of him. It was quite the line as well, he might be there for a while...or not. The line was moving pretty fast. By the time he was next in line, a...unique...creature had just paid for his...her...it's, snack and stompped off. Stepping up to the counter, he gave the person behind the counter a warm smile, his eyes quickly darting over to the fryers, examining the items floating in the boiling hot cooking oil.
"Um, one please..." he states, his hands slipping inside of his garbs sleeves to retrieve his currency. Ledin's eyes move over his shoulder to notice that more people getting in line.
"Oh wow, pretty popular, are we?" He questions, but before his question received an answer, he shuddered lightly and that quickly put him at attention... But as quickly as it came, it was gone. What on heavens was that?

Hey! I’m talking! cat_scream
The girl wades into the crowd. People draw away from her slightly, intimidated by the oversize paintbrush, the doll that was walking, or her bare feet, or some other unknown reason. She heads over to a giant canvas, puts the brush down, shrugs off the drum and points to the drum. The doll hops onto the drum and bounces, creating a beat. The girl uses the rest of her scarf to wrap up her hair and picks up the brush. She closes her her eyes, hardly noticeable, as one is covered and the other nearly so, and waits as a crowd forms around her.

Larsona stood at the counter trying to get the attention of someone to help her. There were so many interesting people and creatures here. This was a place for everyone to come together. As a large lizard creature turned and walked away she finally saw the person working behind the counter. "Excuse me!" Larsona cried out for the attention of the girl. "Do you have tempora?"
Struggling to keep up with her work she turned to her while serving another customer his food. He seemed to look oddly distressed. "Huh....that's strange" she thought. "Sorry!" , said the girl pulling Larsona out of her thoughts. "We're all out! We've got tons of fried pickles though. Best in town! Wanna give one a try?" Larsona sighed. She had been looking forward to that tempora all day. "All well..." , she thought," next time I suppose".
"Sure I'll have one". Larsona smiled at the girl as she handed her her food.

"GOLDIE!" a woman's shrill voice yelled. "KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR VATS!"
"If someone would stay up at the register like she's SUPPOSED to, I would be ABLE to keep an eye on my vats," Goldie muttered to herself as she took the payment from the lady in front of her. She turned around and saw that one of the vats that had been cooking for a while was starting to boil over. "s**t," she said loudly, and rushed over to the boiling oil. Thankful for the long handles on the baskets, she pulled the mesh of pickles from the vat, trying not to burn herself in the process.
As she did, she felt an odd sensation, as though a cold wind had passed through her. She whipped her head around and saw nothing, but the feeling was unsettling, so much that she didn't notice the weight of the basket tipping to the side. Fresh pickles and traces of oil spilled onto the ground and into the fire with a sudden hiss. The oil quickly spread out on the ground, and the fire jumped from the floor to the wall of the tent.
"s**t!" Goldie yelled, frantically looking around for something to put out the flames.

Hey! I’m talking! cat_scream
The girl turned when she smelled the smoke. 'Oh, dear.' she thought. she whistled softly, and the doll stopped bouncing on the drum. She pushed through the small crowd that had formed: they could wait. At the moment there was a fire. Time to play with water. She found a trough filled with the sparkling stuff and dunked the brush into it. The bristles held all the water, and she didn't seem to have a problem carrying the extra weight. she got to the tent and stopped several feet in front of it. She swung her brush out horizontally, and the water was drawn into the air. With the base there, she spread out the water, not caring about the reactions of the others. Once the water was a wall of water, she hit it with the butt of the brush. "Go and cleanse the fire." she muttered. The wall crashed into the flames and doused most of them, missing only a few spots here and there: much more manageable than a few seconds ago. She planted the brush onto the ground and watched as others started moving. She'd wait until the stray fires, easily able to be stamped out, were out before going back to what she had been doing.

It seemed like there was no end to the madness that was the line of hungry customers. No matter how fast the lone server seemed to dish out the goods, more would rush up and wait to be served the delicious morsels. Ledin felt for the girl, she seemed to be having a good grasp on things, for the time being.
Another voice seemed to swarm in the mixture of children and adults, but it was in his direction, but not directed at Ledin, he believed. Looking over his shoulder, he seen the young female and raised an eyebrow as she seemed to be trying to haggle a deal or something. Something about tempora..? Never had that, something else on his 'Earthly Eats' list he'll have to try out. Seeming like she was denied and quickly reconciled with another item, the lady took her food. Before the young angel could get a word out edge wise, he was quickly interrupted.. yet again (by this rate, he'll never get what he wants).
Ledin looked back to the service lady over the counter seeming to be split in two between cooking and serving, Ledin leaned over the counter ever so slightly to see what was going on. A fire? Oh my! Well, it was nothing major.. just a grease fire, but still it posed a threat in this busy and crowded area.
With a small smile, the angel held out his right hand and it quickly begun to glow a soft blueish-white. Almost on command, something caught his attention on his side. A... paint brush? It was huge too. What on earth could that do-
"Wha~" He shouted and dodged out the way, in enough time to avoid the quickly moving wall of water that seemed to drown out the fire..but moving quickly was kinda bad in itself. In leaping without looking first.. he crashed head first into the first female that grabbed his attention.
Rubbing his head slightly, Ledin shifted to a sitting position on the ground and groaned. "What in the name was that for? Seemed like a bit of overkill to me.." He mumbles to himself, but then realized the girl next to him was still on the ground, which he quickly scrambled to fix.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" The young angel quickly tried to reconcile with the unsuspecting tackle dummy.

Paying for her food Larsona smiled glad to be able to get something in her stomach at last. She heard a voice from the back say "Keep an eye on your vats!" and the vendor quickly turned around in a bit of panic. "s**t!" She heard the girl cry out. Larsona sighed as she realized she would probably be waiting even longer as her stomach grumbled in anger.
It was then, out of the corner of her eye, that she noticed the fire. She gasped thinking of what she could do to help the girl when she saw a huge object coming closer to the flames. "Is that.....a huge paintbrush?" she mumbled to herself. Well it seemed to be taking care of the fire so that was good.
Turning to see the source of this odd object she quickly felt herself falling to the floor. "What on EARTH...!" She cried out as she hit the ground in quite a bit of pain. Shaking her head in confusion she heard the voice of a young man "Are you ok?" he said to her offering his hand to help. Larsona looked at his outstretched hand still gathering her bearings. "I think so." she muttered taking the mans hand.

Hey! I’m talking! cat_scream
((OOC: i would like to point out that in real life, water makes an oil/grease fire worse. thankfully, the water was enchanted in this case, so the oil didn't explode. if you have an oil/grease fire, use a fire extinguisher, they're equipped for it))
The fire was done, but it looked like the tent needed fixing. She headed over, the brush now lying across her shoulders and stopped at the counter, ignoring the two that had hit the ground. "Need help getting set back up?" she asked as her doll came bouncing over, mainly using people's heads to bounce off of. "My Kokeshi can help restart the fires, and I can fix the tent."

Ledin grasped her hand tightly and gave her a swift tug up back to her feet. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry about that. I was trying to avoid getting wet from that... thing." He pointed over his shoulder back to the female with the large paintbrush who seemed to act like this was an every day occurrence, granted, a small fire being obliterated with a great wall of water isn't something you'll see on a random day.
Brushing his own clothes off from the dirt that got on them, he sighs and shakes his head before looking back to the lady. "Let me repay you some how. That was very rude of me. Is there anything you want that I can get for you?" Ledin questions. He was pretty sure she had something she wanted and couldn't get and to feel that he repaid her, Ledin was willing to get it.
